[PROJECT][DEV]Porting CM7 for Htc Explorer\Pico - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have been working on CM7 port to HTC Explorer...and i have been looking for which files are required for the port so i downloaded CM7 port for HTC Wildfire S and HTC Aria(which is almost like HTC Explorer according to hardware) i found all files name to be same no file was as a extra file in any port the thing which was different in the ports was the file size of each file I wanted to compare HTC Aria CM7 port with its base rom 2.3.7 but there is no download link as far as i confirmed...
HTC Droid Eris\Desire C is the next nearest phone to HTC Explorer after HTC Aria
HTC Aria Port which I refered-- Click Here
HTC Wildfire S Port which I refered-- Click Here
HTC Droid Eris\Desire C Port I refered-- Click Here
I used Ultra Compare Pro to compare both roms extracted...
Just copy and paste of files WONT work in porting so DONT reply in that way...
Any Information you have share here I will keep updating the first post...Try getting stock or base rom 2.3.7 for HTC Aria or HTC Driod Eris\Desire C...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25-3-2012
i made 5 ports today from aria to jaggyrom 2.3.2 and flashed successfully but got stuck at HTC white screen recovery.log was normal so dont know what is the real problem..
PS- I used dsixda's kitchen to port I dint compile from source till yet as my pc is still downloading and preparing..

Just for curiosity... Any other stock rom of these devices (based on gingerbread) won't work? In other words, this port can be only made with the 2.3.7?

why you not compile cm7 for your device compile rom bug fix easy then ported rom bug fix

we need 2.3.7 stock rom as these ports are based on it....files may have changed from earlier 2.3.x versions during updates so it will be easier if we get the roms which it is based on...

The source code of the stock rom for explorer was uploaded by HTC sometime ago... so the build is supposedly easy...

Before you even think about compiling cm7 you need a kernel. You will not get a booting aosp Rom without a working aosp kernel. That needs to be the absolute first step. You can test basic functionality of the kernel by creating a recovery using the kernel. If it boots recovery then you should be at least somewhat good to go on compiling cm7 for it.

(Crackflashers)(ROM) (wip) Compiled from cm7 source

I have been compiling the cm7 source and sharing. Gapps and rom boots and work. It is more basic gingerbread aosp then cm7. Cyanogen and teamdouche have been working to get this together and this is more kinda like a nightly
www.crackflashers.com
You will need to flash the new recovery.img to flash/get working gapps.
after flashing gapps, run fix permissions to get gapps to work.
This is cause of cm7 going to ext4 based system unlike older roms that are ext3
The new recovery does make it so you can not use older pre gingerbread roms so find a older recovery to fastboot back to anything like froyo or restore old backups

chaoz tried including the wifi module you use in the kernel in the system/lib folder? can't find it there on the newest kernel. This messed things up for tristan earlier
Oh crap, forgot to supply the bcr4329.ko indeed.
I'm going to try to get a running 3.0 by tonight, if I don't have it finished this evening, I'll upload the WiFi module from the build (using 2 different OS's to work on, Linux for compiling, and Windows for everything else, and working in Win is much easier for me ;p)
Edit: beginning with the really lame methods of getting 3.0 to run, first attempt is done I think, just copied over files, and modified some of them, nothing really special, starting compiling in 5 minutes.
I flashed over p2 with the camera fix and the camera no longer works. Should I reapply the camera fix?

Chaosz-X first of all, thanks for the work you've done so far. I believe i can port it over to the n1 using the zip you uploaded. Second, please learn git so you can push your changes to github. (i know you said you hate git but, youre developing a kernel; in comparison git is way easier to understand) It will be much easier for other devs to follow your progress, and port your changes to other qsd8k devices badly in need of hwa.

[Q] CM7 in emulator (AVD)

Hi all, this is a question even if i smell development spirit...
Maybe you know that i was about releasing KMApp v2.0 but didn't. This is because i cannot debug with my phone as i need it up and running fine for my job / university. I can't do testing so i asked people to do it for me and they were very kind. Unfortunately, tests i wanted to do are difficult to explain, resulting in wrong results.
So i changed point of view and started to think about AVD.
Is it possible to run CM7 for our device in emulator?
Did someone ever try it?
If you succeded please post detailed steps, if you know it is not possible explain why.
PS: i say CM7 and not samsung froyo because i don't see the point on being stuck with froyo. CM7 is stable enough to be used so KMApp v2.0 will be tested only in CM7. I will move to CM9 when it will be as stable as CM7 because now i don't feel it is.
You can try this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553366

I see this is for android 1.5... Are you sure it still works with GB??
A LOT has changed since then!
Probably not. I had a look at it blog /website. It some what made use of the android sdk but with a better UI. The only way to simulate a rom would be to force it run instead of the os that runs in the sdk.
When ics was released many devs created a rom from the sdk by some how extracting the os from the sdk. So if you are able to some how replace that os with cm7 and then run the avd you would have your cm7 simulated. It's pretty hard but I think that's the only way.

Let's Get CM10 Booted

Let's try get cm10 too boot atleast im downloading the sources i read a few guides every omap4 device except the lg optimus 3d is either running cm9 or cm10 im gonna try to get it to atleast boot even if nothing else work right well something todo till lg decides to do the upgrade. by the way in the GB Sources for the lg p940 in the kernel sources it contains stuff to do with our phone driver wise i think the only thing that differs is camera + ram.
anybody tried it before?
I'm thinking of trying it, please link the guides you've found!

Good luck guys we are all "rooting" (hahah get it, get it ) for you guys , defcomg are you going to try and port the prada ics first and then cm10, or directly ??
If you're hell bent on trying, I would suggest porting a mixture of the Prada ICS and CM10: Prada ICS for most of the drivers and code to make things work and CM10 for the base. This is because you have the CM10 source so it's easy to modify what doesn't work, since the Prada ICS kernel probably won't work out of the box anyway. You could port Prada ICS wholesale but I suspect more things won't work that way given CyanogenMod often has open source blobs for most of the drivers and for whatever chips that are different from the Prada phone whose drivers you need.

Repo failed have to start over damn i think i have identified a few chips. if there was a way to get the kernel what drivers are loaded
Well that's new. Did you do repo init, repo sync and also installing all the dev tools as recommended here (http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html)? To extract the drivers, you'll have to decompile the Prada ICS kernel, extract the drivers, find a CM10 supported device with similar hardware, replace drivers for the different hardware, do a bit of coding to set up a new CM branch on your com and set up brunch/lunch and vendorsetup/makefile and fill it up with the files mentioned above and see if you can compile it.

Would This Work Replace the LIBS and Configs in devices/samsung/i9100g with the ones from Prada Compile then in the OUT Folder replace WIFI MOdule wpa_sup the issue here is the kernel i can modify the ICS Kernel of the Prada to Match that of the p920 most things are the same its only a few files that change when kernel is compiled should i just place it on the root of the device folder?
I din't know if that stuff that I think make sense but wouldn't it be better if we try to make at first
a working cm9 zip, and after that try to port cm10? It's because there are already some tutorials of how
to "converting" ics into jellybean.
I also started again building a cm9 build, this time with ics prada kernel source and
the command
Code:
make otapackage
instead of brunch p920.
But it will take some time to compile that because my PC isn't the best (single core 2.8 ghz Intel celeron with 2gb RAM)
This looks way too difficult for me. While I might be able to build Android, I'll have no clue on how to debug or fix issues.

You need to set up dsixda kitchen if you want to make roms like jaggyRom etc , you may run it on cygwin.
Kitchen is very easy
But if you want to compile a Rom, you must have linux or ubuntu.

Then get git at first
