unCoRrUpTeD Dual Boot V1 (RELEASE DATE: TBA...)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9345833
the Devs here have managed to dual boot their phones using sdcard. I was wondering if we could make that for galaxy 3...Ofcourse this invloves modifying Sbl.bin & boot.bin
anybody any ideas where to start ??

that would be awsome......n awso.....mmmme.
i think devs here are surely going to try smthing like this....waiting for them

Great but a dual boot with 2 android firmware. Or android other OS ?
Sent from my I5801 using lestatious 1.9 JIT and O/c 1 Ghz

that would be very usefull for testing custom roms without erasing your data

how about this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
this app is for WM but may be smone cud start porting this
which also means working on the kernals or from recovery!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100777
This one also looks sort off promising.
I've skimmed the thread and it comes down to booting other ROMS (a maximum of 4).
There were 3 files needed, a system.img, a data.img and a cache.img you then just place them in folders and that seemed to do the trick.
I think this is a nice starting point if some devs are actually going to mess around with it.

Yeah I too saw this
Perhaps a bit of modding and nandroids can make this a success but hardware can be a limitation

If I'm not mistaking, but please tell me if I do, there was a member in the G3 section who was trying to make a AOSP version of Froyo (so without all the Samsung stuff) and he got stuck at the conversion of a system.img to factory.rfs.
So if someone gets this working, he could continue his project.

lol again
i too read about that
what the member can do is to flash a rom with cwm and then restore his files as a backup
bt AFAIK someone helped him convert and he booted too maybe

Cyanogen 3.9.6 straightforward sapphire port [32B]

Details here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-for-sapphire-magic-tested-on-vodafone-magic/
This is a very straightforward port of Cyanogen's awesome 3.9.6 ROM to run on the HTC Sapphire / Magic (tested on the Vodafone Magic).
Apply as any other update.zip (via modified recovery image).
It's FAST!

Paul,
What did you change to get Compcache working? I'm already running 3.9.5 on my 32B and don't really want to reflash just for the sake of being able to push a couple of modified files
Cheers
So this is with cyno 3.9.5 kernel right?
i think i can read better than you
What's the difference between this port and the jerpelea (or something) port?
isnt this the same as jerpleas port?
Same as Jerpelas and all the other 'ports' that use the trick I found of renaming init.trout.rc in boot.img to init.sapphire.rc.
I've asked a couple of the devs to include this file by default to avoid the plethora of threads here that are just dream roms which pretty much anyone can get running in a couple of minutes.
At the moment the 'real' development work is mainly in the dream forum, lucky for 32b owners they run perfectly 32A, wait for the ports
Waiting for the Drizzy/JAC new hero port tonight - it's meant to be damn fast, and they think they can get it to 'cupcake' speeds
re: posts above...
Correct, it's using Cyanogen's kernel (hence compcache functions correctly).
Correct, it's for 32B.
Correct, it's using a tweaked boot.img with a renamed RC.
I think it's a valid post because not everyone has the ability / time / inclination to download the ROM, extract the boot.img, rename the file, rebuild the boot.img and then resign the resulting zip.
As always, I created this for my own use and thought i'd share!
I also have asked Cyanogen (via Twitter) to include a sapphire.rc in future revisions. Here's hoping!

I think that with this ROM, libwebcore.so from CM3.6.8.1 and the Noverca Audio*.csv files, I can actually use my Magic for what it's supposed to be used for!

Thanks Modaco,
all the apps and the cache, to ext3 partition. Good rom. Wifi runs ok , it goes so fast. For me, the most important advantage, the apps and the cache, to sd!.
Thanks guy
compcache is working, wifi wont start.
I'm pretty sure that jerpelea had to get a different wlan.ko for it to work on his.
This just keeps looping on the Android splash screen. Is it because I am using Amon_Ra's 1.2 recovery???
I am using 1.2 and had no troubles.
Just WiFi wont start.
I have tried replacing it with the wlan.ko from jerpelea's rom.
It doesnt like it.

I dont get it! I had similar problems with newer Cyanogen build than what I am on. Also the QTek rom does the same.
It seems to me that any ported ROMs which all you supposedly need to do is run 'update.zip' fail with a boot loop for me.
I don't know why it's only with ported ROMs though..... It's driving me mad!!!

&
INCDOES PORTING PATCH
(EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN A ZIP)=much easier, should be the obvious choice for most...
USE THE METHOD THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS...
UPDATE:To avoid confusion, this thread was started before the porting patch was released...i chose to leave the MANUAL directions below posted on incdoes blog for those of us that like to know whats going on behind the scenes of the updater.script=what the patch is doing
UPDATE:
found this on twitter a bit ago...

CHECK OUT THE INCDOES INC 2 EVO PORTING PATCH
CAUTION:
This is not recommended for the ave everday user/know nothing/no time to fudge with my phone crowd...
that being said, now for the fun stuff
i take no credit for any of this other than typing(incdoes leaked most of these port bases). i am just posting links to roms i found in inc forum with the instructions for porting to evo from incs blog. just trying to initiate some more rom development. i am still trying to decide which i will be working on...but this is open source so i just put it here for evo users/devs to view and get porting

HOW TO PORT INC ROM TO EVO
-excerpt from incdoes blog-
Okay, to run an INC ROM on your EVO would be simple. There will be a few broken 'stuff' e.g. bt, wifi etc... but easy fixes!
First you will need the INC ROM you desire to run on your EVO. Now, if its an "INC Sense ROM" you will need a "EVO Sense Kernel" and if it's an AOSP ROM then you will need a AOSP kernel.
Now there will be a few things you will need to replace on the INC ROM to make it run on your EVO:
~We are going to use a sense 2.2 rom as an example~
"so grab these files from any EVO sense ROM, preferable stock 2.2 EVO"
- boot.img (for your phone to bootup)
- system/usr (for buttons)
- system/lib/hw (for lights)
- system/lib/modules (for wifi)
- system/etc/vold.stab (for sdcard readable)
- build.prop (for market and LED's fix)
please note: some prop files include different edits that can break market/data/network/LED's... but then again, easy fixes!
Now you have an INC Sense ROM and 'all the files listed above pulled from an EVO Sense rom, you will have to add/replace the files pulled from the EVO ROM into the INC ROM, sign the .zip and flash (via recovery).
Should/will bootup if its based on the same firmware i.e. 2.2 INC ROM and 2.2 EVO ROM.

Wonder if this process can be used to port nexus roms?
Probly a couple other things needed.
I had a idea, the Incredible version of the normal LiquidE ROM (not the sense hybrid) seems to have incoming calls working unlike our Evo version. What if we tried porting it using this method, anyone think that might work?

OHHH I wish I had patients!! Quite the opposite actually.....just a really busy life.....but I may try to start tonight anyway .
So im flashing a nexus rom right now, that i switched out all the stuff + threw in a cyanogen kernel.
If this thing bricks...
___________
UPDATE: It booted up, but it doesnt register any touch on the touch screen. LOL.
Hmmm maybe if.. Any ideas guys? I switch some other stuff around too. Maybe i can figure this out...
UPDATE: I flashed netarchy universal kernel and now the touch works, i cant get any signal, i dunno what stuff needs to be switch out from GSM to CDMA.
Wifi WORKS! I dont have a keyboard for some reason, so i cant enter my password to test it but it looks to be fine. And since i have no internet connection i cant get astro to install one from my SD haha.
I flashed over sky raider 3.3 final and every thing is perfect. Theres a uncommon sense patch which I also ported because I remember reading that on the hd Rom the ego didn't like the 4 signal bars. Only thing not exactly right is the camera. It doesn't have the capture button but I can take pics by holding a finger on the screen. Video is a no go due to not having the nature button. This Rom is the smoothest I've used and I'm a flash a holic so I've used them all.
So if I use the flash patch do I need to do any of the other stuff listed in the op(replacing files)?
Sweet Magnus, may have to get back to you details of what i find wrong. But i got a porject due next week for school. I have to record us BMXing this weekend. Then make an edit. If i get that sweet alone time in the eveing, i'll be sure happy to port all three and give findings.

My flashpatch is the same thing,
This post is what i dont want to happen, like i said before there is no point in repacking a whole new zip file when we can just have a flash over patch zip that does all the work for us.

I may be wrong but I don't believe any ROMs work with our phone yet. What I did in the mean time was just root using the fastboot method and flash CWM. Works like a champ
that's funny because netarch said last week they would work.

The kernel works (I have it on my phone) as netarch stated, but rom's I *BELIEVE* are not compatible

I said the kernels should work fine, and roms possibly.
On closer inspection of a system dump from an ns4g there are some differences that will prevent current custom roms from working properly.
I'd need a guinea pig with an ns4g to assist me in testing to find out the exact changes necessary to make them compatible.
Atm there are at least 2 files I've found that would need to change.
You can go ahead and flash Net's kernel and start overclocking though!
I ended up getting so used to stock 2.3.4 rom that I am still on it!

Ok, so this is a stock deodexed ROM for the NS 4G. I am not a dev, you flash this at your own risk. With that being said, Im running it and I havent found anything wrong...yet. It does have netarchy's bfs kernel, you will need setcpu to oc, it is good up to 1.4. Your phone may not be. Do not check set on boot in setcpu until you know your phone is stable. You WILL have to flash superuser in recovery, you can flash it right after you flash the ROM, no need to reboot. So, here it is...
O yea, I added spare parts, CM file manager, and CM mms.apk so it doesnt have to be white...

[Q] Dharam's ROM Collection - PLEASE VOTE

Hey everyone,
I am planning to develop Custom ROM's as follows:
Stock
Stock Ultimate
Clean
Clean Ultimate
Ultra Clean
Ultra Clean Ultimate
Battery Saver
The features of each ROM version will be decided and then the ROM will be finalized and uploaded.
I am also planning to develop each of the above version for different BASE ROM's like
JPM
JPN
XWJPF
DDJP2
The reason to develop the following ROM's is not to provide final CUSTOM ROM's but Basic Custom ROM's which the users can then customize as per their requirements...
SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO WORK ON THIS COLLECTION...
NOTE: If there is not much response then I will work on something else other than this...

Kitchen is different i think...this will be ready to flash .tar files...
This is just to reduce user's initial work...
And as i said...if i dont get a good response i wont do this...
I work on things what everyone want...
Personnaly I think it should not be done,
we have various Froyo-based roms already and there already is a thread with stock firmwares one can use to modify.
Not that I think your initiative is a bad idea, but in my opinion a little overkill
A better initiative is to create rom-files we can flash using CWM.

Hi,
Small question, does the file "mmcblk1p12" contain the Clock Speed info?? Does this file vary from device to device?
Small request, Can you also modify the script to keep a backup of the old file in case something goes wrong we can restore the old one?

SERIOUSLY?! CREDITED TO CHINA USERS? I posted the 8 days before this here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40756835
You just take my idea, make a flashable zip and give credit to someone else. The devtree of the JB leak has some thing called 'limit_1ghz' the kernel checks if this is present and if it is, it will limit it. The ics devtree does not have this. So the kernel does not limit it. Instead it uses a macro to figure out if a particular cpu is capable of running at 1.2 GHz max. I don't really bother about these.. Nor do I say this.. But give credit where its due.

So, how about updating the op with the proper credits?
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.

Hi,
Small question, does the file "mmcblk1p12" contain the Clock Speed info?? Does this file vary from device to device?
Small request, Can you also modify the script to keep a backup of the old file in case something goes wrong we can restore the old one?

looks like this question went unanswered.. well mmcblk1p12 does not contain any clock speed info.. all the clock speed related things are in the kernel.. as for backup, dont bother about it. its the same as the device_tree.bin you find in your fastboot files. this partition is the device tree. for the curious,
as for how or what exactly happens is that, well,
there are two types of omap4430. with max speed of 1GHz (used in our phones) and 1.2GHz (in razr). these are experimentally found.. the kernel is smart enough to find out what its highest speed should be.. how ever, it also checks if "limit_1_0_ghz" is present in the devtree. if it is present, it will limit it to 1GHz even if it can run at higher speeds..
so in short
'limit_1_0_ghz' is present in device tree of jb fxz files and not present in ics. probably they missed it out in ics.
A little help please
Simple question
>I'm using an Atrix 2 (MB865 AT&T)
>stock 1.0 ghz
>Using ICS Supercharged rom
I haven't done anything to the kernal , do i have to flash a kernal to overclock ? and if yes what would be the best and the most stable kernal ?
>And i used "Atrix 2 bootstrapper" to flash the rom and it's still there , but now in most of the roms they say flash using BMM and if u used Atrix2bootstrapper before there is a good chance of getting the device into bootloop , so would it happen even if i uninstall bootstraper and instal BMM ?
Thanks in advance

I had the Nitro Atrix2bootstrapper installed on my A2. I uninstalled it, and installed BMM 0.3.4... no problems. Boots up into boot menu manager no problems. But that might have just been sheer luck??? I followed the guide on here from Revi (i believe it was) to install BMM. I haven't flashed any roms though, haven't found one i think is worth flashing. They all seem to have some "missing" functionality (camera, wifi, bluetooth, etc..) Rooting my device was purely from a "tinkering & learning" aspect.
If i'm not mistaken though, if it does end up in a bootloop, you can use an FXZ firmware to set everything back. Just have to get into the fastboot menu and use rsd lite to flash the FXZ to the A2.
Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've only been at this for 3 days

Thanks man , i flashed Jellybeer (JB.4.2) and successfully flashed back to ICS supercharged rom cause there were bugs in the JB rom + the battery life was awful , Using BMM and soft bricked phone once but still was able to flash ICS supercharged rom and now it's working just fine .
Want to flash the JBX kernel but not gonna do cause JBX kernel seems to drain more power . I'm using ICS spercharged v7 rom with stock kernal (1Ghz ) and get normal usage around 1 day if i use data and it can stay about 1.5 days if i just use calling and texting .
Try ICS supercharged v7 rom , no bugs what so ever !
