i noticed something strange happening with my windows live essentials messenger when I have my wp7 device turned on. For some reason, I cannot stay logged onto messenger on my computer when my handset is on. It'll auto-disconnect me....sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes less than a minute. It doesn't happen when the device is turned off.
It's not a problem with my computer or messenger, as this doesn't happen when I'm logged in with an account ID that is not linked ti my handset....
anyone have any clue what's going on?

Most likely a multiple log in issue(bug)
Hi Every one.
For those not familiar with Live Essentials, it is a series of tools and applications that range from Family Safety filters for the internet to Windows Live Mail.
Essentials also contains several connected services that we expect will integrate with your Windows Phone 7 device. These services include:

Are you running the Miyowa Messenger Application on your phone?
You need the latest version of Messenger on your PC to be able to log into multiple locations. I have Live Essentials 2011 and I'm not having this problem.
You can do Multiple Logins with the XP-compatible version of Messenger, as well as the Messenger in Windows Live for Windows Mobile 6.5.x.
The issue lies with the third party client you are using from the Windows Marketplace. I'm pretty sure this issue will cease to exist when Microsoft introduces their own, first-party, messenger client for WP7.
I highly doubt they will leave that market app as the only choice.

Does anyone else have a problem with the Treo auto-connecting to the net? I have no other third party programs installed. Is there a fix?
you might want to check Inbox and Activesync.
Yes, I have already checked both the Inbox and Activesync. This happens even when I don't set up my email nor my exchange push. The Treo will just function regularly, and then all of the sudden, it continually tries to connect to the net. Even after a soft reset, it will boot up trying to get an internet connection.
how about the fake server trick for AS?
I think I've isolated this to either the beta installation of Windows Live or Pocket MSN
they just released the final version of Live a couple days back:

good luck and FIGHT ON!
It could very well be Windows Live Messenger trying to sync your email/contacts. Check the sync settings in WLM.
Did you manage to find the problem?
I have similar problem that each time a do a syhc to my pc, somehow my email will auto sync wirelessly (3G) even though I have not set it to sync
Using windows live for windows mobile 10.6.34.0800 on the Three network in Australia, on a tytn II. All was fine up to 24 hours ago where i log in on the mobile, it shows me logged in, but after 60 seconds i dissapear from all my friends computers as if offline!
My phone continues to tell me I "AM" signed in, even though im not. If i change my status from say busy to online, i then appear to eveyone for another 60 seconds before being logged out again.
While in this state I cant send messages, have tried uninstall of Live, and reinstall, Running MSM via WIFI, and turning my mobile internet off. and now i have even re-installed the rom on the phone, and it's still doing it! also check the time, and zones to no avail. Anyone else seen this issue.
Thanks
I set up my Xoom with my exchange account last week, everything was working fine or so i thought. Now im seeing that Im getting email 10-15 min after it shows up in my inbox. When I was using touchdown I would get the email on my Xoom before my computer most times. Is anyone else haveing issues like this. I prefer the stock app but I would like email to come in fast. Right now I must go into the email app and refresh it.

someone help
Self bumb. HELP IM GOING NUTS. I noticed the same issue is going on with my phone too. all other users in network with android phones are fine. just me >.< could activesync be freeking out because I have 2 devices trying to sync
Noticed a bit of a delay as well today with the stock app. My phone (Nexus one) gets mail pretty much at the same time outlook does but a 5 minute delay on the Xoom. Are you guys on Exchange 2010 or 2007? We are on 2007 currently migrating to 2010 and should be completely done with the move in a few weeks. Hoping 2010 corrects the issue.
Are you using any task killers? I am so tomorrow I am going to disable them and see if there is a change.

So no luck this morning with the default email app. Touchdown, however, worked nicely. I am actually receiving my email on the tablet before my phone now. Not the ideal solution but it works.
I have the same set up. Android phone and Xoom set up to activesync. Every once in a while, the xoom is very slow in updating. Not sure why. If anyone has any thoughts, please let us know!
I think this is an issue with Honeycomb. I have also noticed that sometimes GMail does not sync as quick as my phone does. Using the Wifi Only model btw.
Ok, after i went home last night I noticed things got better. Today while im at work everything seems ok. takes about 10 sec or so to sync to my Dinc and Xoom.
What we did to fix things:
1. logged into the mobile admin site for our active sync, I have been sync'ing virtual android systems and I had 9 different devices sync'ing everytime an email went out. so we deleted all my unused devices. ( there was 2 copies of my phone from flashing)
2. In the mobile admin site your exchange account is seen by an Alias. whith all the T/S steps I had been trying my alias in exchange got deleted. This does not prevent Active Sync from getting email to me but it does make it look a bit longer to find the right mailbox.
3. I noticed that I had many services trying to sync the same info this is bad. Touchdown was still running even after i tried to remove my account. Uninstalled it. Gmail is trying to sync books/calendar/contacts so i uncecked all ( I use exchange for everything)
4. Under running services I saw that attachment downloader was running in overdrive all the time. So in the account settings of the exchange account I unchecked " auto download attachments when on wifi." We email pdf's all the time they can get big and I saw that I would not get am email untill the entire pdf was downloaded. Also We use HTML email sigs, each sig is 3 attachments. After I made this change the attachment downloader service seemed to let up alot. if it didnt help me email issue it at least freed up some ram
Im not saying that anyone of these steps was the end solution to my problem but they all seemed to make things run a bit better.
Phone not syncing hotmail as items arrive.
I just changed my LG Optimus 7 for a Nokia Lumia 800 and Hotmail is not syncing Hotmail as items arrive even when it is configured to do so in the Windows Live configuration tab.
At the bottom of the Windows Live Configuration tab there is an option called register that is deactivated by default but I cannot find any information of what it does.
Any idea about what it does (register) or what might be my problem with hotmail?
Thanks,
Does it at least sync them automatically at some point? Or is the auto-sync broken entirely?
Obviously, automatic sync requires data connectivity, but it also goes through some different network connections than the web interface. I've seen files arrive on my PC both before and after they arrive on the phone, even when both are set to automatic sync as items arrive. The difference is usually only a few seconds though, rarely anywhere near a minute.
They often arrive several minutes after I should have received them (max 2 hours). I think that the problem might be with Hotmail itself, today I read something about people reporting issues with hotmail at wmpowerusers.
Also during lunch I went back to the LG Optimus 7 and it does have the same issue when it was working fine until I made the switch during the weekend.
Another thing that I tried with initial success was to disable the wifi and started to work for a couple of hours, now is the same as before.
Hopefully it’ll be the Hotmail issue and will be temporal. I use mail instead of SMS and it cost me a lot to get friends jump from SMS to email.
Well, it is working fine today. I think that it was a temporal problem.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Hello
I just got my Lumia 900, I use Windows Mobile for years, I feel a bit uncomfortable on WP7, I have a few questions:
1. How to sign out Windows Live? I don't want to sign in all the time, it waste data and battery. I know I can just turn off data, but sometimes I want to leave data on for other program.
2. How to know the phone is using data? On WM you see small 3G appears with signal bar, on Android you see 3G appears with up/down arrow. On WP7, I did not see any changes on upper indication area when I am using data.
3. How to lock the orientation of phone dialer? When I hang up the phone, the phone tilt a little bit and cause the dialer window rotates; so, can I lock it?
I wish someone could give answers. Thanks!
Edit1:
Q1 is answerd
Q2: I observed the phone behaviour. It shows 4G when I turn on the data, and sometimes it shows LTE. I assume when it shows LTE, it is using data. Maybe I am wrong.
Q3: Orientation Lock can only be installed for unlocked Lumia 900. so it seems mission impossible by now.
Some new questions:
Q4: Multi tasking: When I download some big files from internet, while I am waiting, I start to open another app. It seems the download is paused. This is very annoying. I cannot wait for hours to use the phone until the download completes
Q5: How to exit IE quickly? If I browsed 50 pages, looks like I have to press "BACK" for 50 times to exit IE......
Q6: Real time battery percent indication on live tiles? Tried to search the market but no success.
Q7: Can the upper status bar(Battery status/signal bar, etc.) fix on the screen?
Q8: How to set IE home page??
You can sign out of Messenger by opening the Messaging hub, selecting Status (from the AppBar at the bottom), and choosing Sign Out. You can turn off syncing of your Windows Live email by opening the settings for the email account and disabling the automatic sync, which will cause the phone to not use any data or battery life for that purpose. I'm not sure what other aspects of Windows Live you want to sign out of, but considering that things like your Marketplace purchases (including apps, even free ones) are tied to your Xbox Live account, which is in turn tied to your Windows Live account, you'd lose a lot of functionality if you actually signed out.
There's no official way to tell when the phone uses data. Short of temporarily disabling cellular data (to guarantee that the phone is *not* doing so), you could try enabling Airplane Mode, which turns off pretty much all background data usage but permits apps and user-initiated actions (web browsing, app purchase, etc.) to use data.
There's a homebrew app called Orientation Lock that sort-of handles the third question (it just turns off the accelerometer entirely until you choose to turn it on again). I don't believe it was ever accepted to the Marketplace though, so you need a developer-unlock for your phone.

Thanks. One more question: On WM, if I connect the phone to the PC, my phone can get internet connection through PC by ActiveSync. It is very convenience, I don't have to turn on data/WIFI. Can we do on WP7? I tried but it won't work.
Connect your phone to your PC and start Zune music player. The phone should get internet connectivity, once Zune recognises your phone.
You need to reconnect 3-4 times it if it fails. It's annoying but it's working.
good!. Thanks, it works.
