Treo Auto-Connecting to the Internet - Palm Treo 750

Does anyone else have a problem with the Treo auto-connecting to the net? I have no other third party programs installed. Is there a fix?

you might want to check Inbox and Activesync.

Yes, I have already checked both the Inbox and Activesync. This happens even when I don't set up my email nor my exchange push. The Treo will just function regularly, and then all of the sudden, it continually tries to connect to the net. Even after a soft reset, it will boot up trying to get an internet connection.

how about the fake server trick for AS?

I think I've isolated this to either the beta installation of Windows Live or Pocket MSN

they just released the final version of Live a couple days back:
http://wls.live.com
good luck and FIGHT ON!

It could very well be Windows Live Messenger trying to sync your email/contacts. Check the sync settings in WLM.

Did you manage to find the problem?
I have similar problem that each time a do a syhc to my pc, somehow my email will auto sync wirelessly (3G) even though I have not set it to sync

ActiveSync & Outlook 2003: No new Emails or Contacts

I have a strange problem with my Prophet and Outlook 2003:
whenever my Prophet ist connected (USB) with my Desktop PC ActiveSync blocks some Outlook buttons: I can't reply to emails, can't forward them or even write new mails. It's not possible to change anything in the calendar or in the contacts. As soon as I pull out my USB-cable and restart Outlook again everything works fine until I reconnect it.
Furthermore Activesync only transfers changes from the desktop to the Prophet, not the other way round. Reinstalling Outlook and Activesync didn't change anything. I already installed Activesync 4.5 beta, but it still remains the same.
The Problem didn't occur right form the first Installation. After a few weeks it just was there.
Did anybody here already have the same problem and know a solution?
Thanks a lot

PS: I already tried the search, but I couldn't find anything useful for my problem.
Really nobody else with the same problem?
That makes me feel like I'm really special.

WM6.1 No Email - Prevent Premature Baldness

Hey guys:
I'm about ready to pull my hair out.
I migrated from my Hermes to my Tilt now running Sleuth 3.0 WM6.1 everything is fine except my email only syncs when it is teathered to Active Sync. The setting match my Hermes and actually you can Send/Receive mail. It goes through the steps of logging in, downloading headers/folders etc but no mail comes and no errors.
When it is connected to active sync everything downloads.
I have checked both my internet settings for AT&T with & without proxy. IE accesses the internet both via Media Net and Wifi fine. And like I say you can see it going through steps connecting etc but no mail comes even when you can see it on the server.
I'm ready to pull my hair out and stop carrying two phones. I don't have enough hair to pull it out over this nit!
Thanks for the help!
Wallace
Well, if you're speaking Exchange...is the server using a self-signed SSL certificate? And if so, have you installed it on your Tilt since flashing? I ask because I had that issue...finally just tossed the cert on my SD card so I can drop it back in after the next (and frequent) flash.
i have this issue with gmail n yahoo
Same problem with Gmail. Using udK 6.1 Rom, phone data can't sync with Gmail, wifi will grab the e-mails no problem. Any ideas?
i think its the rom you guys using.
bump still cant get email to work on any WM6.1 rom
Firstly, what kind of email?
BBerry, Hotmail, Gmail...
Try: goto hklm>system>versions and change what ever is there to .0.4.2 (The leading . before the 0 needs to be there)
first post here. but I hope this helps as I've had the same issues with regards to gmail messages not appearing.
I've gone through several roms experiencing the same problem, i.e. no gmail - even though it checks and appearing to be downloading them.
I am trying to run both corporate exchange emails and also gmail.
My normal rom install sequence is:
1. do the normal rom upgrade and remove usb cable when the finish message appears.
2. let it reboot a few times as in installs the roms and detects your carrier
3. then I would connect the usb and sync it with my exchange/outlook (which works)
5. and set up my corporate exchange email settings (which works)
4. then set up GMAIL - and normally it starts downloading but no messages appear.
I tried this with every rom, same problems.
Today, I installed the Sleuth rom and decided to do SET UP GMAIL FIRST, try and send/receive and THEN connect my Kaiser to the laptop for a full fat Active Sync with my Outlook and setup email to my Corporate Exchange mails.
Now I can get both emails working
Hope this helps someone as its been p!ssing me off for the last 4 weeks and I didn't want to get flamed by some of these posters by posting a I can't get Gmail working post!
I'm running Sleuth 3.0, with working GMail and Exchange server. Have you tried removing the hidden proxy with this cab.

ActiveSync on ALL 6.1 ROMS don't sync with Exchange Server 2003

Hi all,
I've tried all 6.1 roms and have found that Active Sync refuses to sync via 3G wirelessly with Exchange Server 2003.
I did:
Uncheck proxy.
Reloaded local telecomm settings
tried sync cal, contacts, individually with no go.
Did hard reset all roms after flash
Any comments/ suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks.
Avi
Not sure, working for me.
Maybe its your radio?
Works fine for me, on every single WM6.1 ROM I have tried.
There must be something wrong with your specific config.
Ditto. No problems here on many roms and radios

did you add the ssl cert?
No Problems
I have tried at least 5 different 6.1 ROM's and they have all synced with our Exchange 2003 cluster over 3G.
I have too any problems with Active-Sync on MS Exchange 03......
might be useful if you gave us more details.
Such as, does it sync over wireless lan, or activesync or anything.
Does it give an error code of any sort ?
If you have not figured this out already.. this may resolve the issue
You need to disable the proxy:
go to Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced (tab at bottom of the page) --> Select Networks.
Change the network from 'My ISP' to 'MEdia Net', then click Edit. Now you should have the Proxy tab where you can disable it.

I disabled proxy server. It connects via active sync (3G) then says Synchronizing folder....Looking for changes.....then it says "attention required" Sync could not be completed. If condition persists try deleting then re-creating....view support code ...0x8503001C
works for me just fine, i run on ssl but i just tested with non ssl and work fine, what is the error message that active sync gives?

odd...but try this.
Go under your settings after setting up everything normally, and uncheck tasks from the things that will be sync'd.
Worked for me.

any flavor of the 6.1 works on me also. can you check if your exchange account has mailbox size limitations. i once encountered your scenario and it was caused by my mailbox size limitation.
if this is the case either request that your mailbox limitation be increased or archive your server data on a pst located in your local cmputer.
just a thought.
Actually I'm having an issue when trying to sync my Kaiser with WM 6.1 with two different computers: If I set up the active sync connection on the second computer, syncing on the first computer will always fail until I reestablish the connection. If I do this, syncing on the second computer will fail.
Is this going to be fixed in the final WM 6.1 version?
obii
I assume you had this working on the same phone, same Exchange server but with WM6?
For OTA, are you able to browse (using PIE) to https://your-activesync-public-server-name/oma ? (or http if you're not using SSL)
Internally on your LAN are you able to browse on your PC AND phone, to http://your-activesync-private-server-name/oma ? (or https if you're not using SSL internally as well)
Either way, it works perfectly fine for me using WM6.1...
I had the same problem with my activesync, my work exchange is 2003 as well. It was having a lot of problems on the initial sync so i connected to my wifi and i think because of just how much stuff i synced it helped. Once the initial sync was completed I have problems from time to time with it not being able to connect and a soft reset does the trick. I was getting the same exact support code you were as well.
That error code indicates a corrupt calendar or contact entry. Any device would fail regardless of WM5 - WM6.1. You can change your setting so that it does not sync calendar and contacts to see which it is. Then you can use a process of elimination to find out which entry is the bad one and delete it from the message store.

I had that same error code before and it wasnt a corrupt Calendar entry, it was a huge one because it had a couple file attachments. If i did my initial setup in a 3G area or on WiFi it worked fine.

That's a quit unusual errornumber. I work a lot with Exchange and had to debug active sync problems very often. Here you can find a quite usful list of errornumbers, their meaning and possible solutions: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/exchange_errors.php
The error you get itn't on the list unfortunately. Is a wired sync possible?

Emails disappearing from exchange inbox and calendar not syncing help please

Hi all, I'm fairly experienced with the WM world (been using since WM2002) and am usually able to fix plenty of people's problems (on here and in the real world). I have run into an issue that I haven't quite been able to figure out. If it were my phone, I'd probably reflash a different rom on it (or even same one) and try it again fresh, but since it is not my phone I haven't tried it yet. Anyways, here is the issue.
My coworker has configured his phone running his provider's stock WM6.1 standard rom. He (well me, he had no idea it was possible until I showed him) is trying to connect his phone to the company's exchange server to get email on the phone. I have configured this (or instructed how to do this) for over 25 people where I work, and the only issues that I have ever run into were certificate issues. I manually pulled down the root certificate, made a cab file containing it, and installed it on his phone. This is easily verified by accessing the company's OWA site from Pocket IE. Without the certificate installed, a certificate warning appears, and with it you access without a problem (which I can do). So certificate, checked.
Now after a soft reset, it comes time to configure it. I get the email address, password, and domain in without a problem. Then the OWA address is put into the server address. Then the specific mail and calendar items are configured (such as retain last 3 days of mail, download 50KB of each message, show last 2 weeks of calendar, etc.), and finish is hit. The device successfully syncs, with no errors appearing on the screen. I even see items come down in activesync (such as syncing 82 contacts, 5 calendar events, and some emails).
I opened pocket outlook, and his inbox is empty. Odd, so I send him a test email from my AT&T Tilt (cooked WM 6.1 rom), and it arrives to his device on the next send/receive. Then, I hit send receive again on his phone and the test email disappears. I have tried changing the "retain" option for email from last 3 days to last 2 weeks, and no difference. Also the Calendar is empty. I sent him a meeting request and he accepted it, but it isn't on his mobile phone's calendar (but it is on the exchange calendar).
The only thing that I could think of is a rule to move everything to his personal folder on his laptop, but he says that he doesn't have one and moves everything over by hand. I'm thinking about swinging by his desk and confirming, but he isn't dumb and I'm sure he isn't lying about it.
I have been searching google (here and full internet google) without much luck. Thanks for any ideas to try, or else I'm gonna go soft reset his phone
Jason
Well he did tell me when he closed outlook on his work PC, everything started working right. I might try to swing by and look at his outlook afterall.
Jason
btw, if your poutlook syncs only new mails, and your server is configured to not keep messages on the server, the message might be deleted every other send/receive.

ActiveSync AutoStart: Tried all previous 'solutions'

Hi all,
my ActiveSync keeps running once in a while. I have not entirely narrowed it down to a specific time interval, but it seems to run itself whenever an internet connection is established. And if I am in a dodgy signal area (or in and out of signal) it runs a lot! It syncs to my Exchange Server, but I do not want it to sync as often as it does.
Here's the background to my problem.
Phone: Xperia X1i
How I've tried to fix this so far.
1.) I am using ActiveSync in order to synchronize contacts and calendar to my Gmail account, so I cannot enter a 'fake server' to stop ActiveSync from starting.
2.) I have searched the web and this forum to solve my problem. I have tried using the Task Manager and disabling the 'runafter...' repllog.exe in the notifications. This still happens. I have disabled all repllog.exe instances I have found, but it still runs!
The most annoying part about this is that it keeps syncing to my contacts and them 're-sorting' them to 'Last Name, First Name'. I then I have to keep constantly running the 'Contact Changer' app to rectify this. More annoyingly, it wastes resources, makes the phone slow and is unneccesary.
I just simply want to stop ActiveSync from running automatically and only when I ask it to. Is this REALLY that hard to ask for from WM 6.1?
Any help would be much appreciated.
