Right here goes, I previously owned an HTC Hero which we all know had problems when it comes to connecting it to Win7 64bit os when Win7 first came out, that was until Sync 3.0 came out. I installed the new version on both my laptop and pc (both running win7 pro 64bit) and my Hero could connect perfectly to both. This is where it gets strange...
I just received my brand new HTC Desire HD, and thinking that the software for the Hero would be different to the HD I cleverly uninstalled the original software and isntalled the new software from the SD card, mounting it from the phone first. Mistake starts here
Installation went fine but when I connected the HD to the computer it would hang for a while at 'Searching for Drivers' and then eventually come back with 'no drivers found.'
I then decided to check the HD on my laptop and well what would you know, it worked first time with out any new instalation etc. After this is thought I would then try the Hero on the pc again and you guest it, 'no driver found' yet the Hero also works with the laptop still
This is what I have tried with the pc:
Call HTC for phone help - Lady was useless didnt even know what the HTC Desire HD was though I had made the phone up
Reinstalled Sync 1 million times - no change, each time restart between uninstall/reinstall
physically copy HTC directory from laptop to PC - still nothing
try every usb slot known to man - rear/front/hub/keyboard/printer (port on printer to connect devices)
system restore to a time before i got the new phone - system restore successful but driver still not found for both phones
install various different versions of Sync and Drivers - nothing
contact HTC by email - two day turn around and not very helpful each time
unplug other devices/turn off all programs/ turn off all anti-virus software etc - nothing
make sure that usb debugging is on - although have tried it with out and still nothing
I know it is not necessary to use HTC sync as all my contacts are synced using google and my music and photos are all on SD but it is a feature that the phone has so I want to be able to use it. short of a fresh copy of windows I don't really know what else I can do.
please help!! am i missing something?
regards
Tim
Hey , did you solve the issue, i HAVE THE SAME ISSUE
hi,
i have also the same worries with Win7 32 bits
Tim, a workarround waiting for a solution is to use the FREE MyPhoneExplorer
you have to install the desktop version, and also to install the "client" on your phone
(phone client available on AndroidMarket) which allows you to save contacts, sms, Pictures et even a full backup of sd card. It's a famous soft , i used it many years ago for sonyericson phones, i had forgotten it and i discovered recently it was available for android phones !
My HTC is azerty(French stock ROM)
i tried many things without luck(reinstalling, uninstalling, removing all usb devices related to htc under windows' safe mode, reinstalling, trying to install vista/xp htc drivers via manual update of drivers):
what i have working when i am connecting my Desire Z, to one of my desktop's usb port(translated from french):
-Mass storage : ie my Desire's Z microSD card is seen by the computer as an USB key.
-RDNIS(last choice in "connection to PC") : which allows my Desire Z to access internet via my desktop on my LAN and it works : i am able to browse the internet using my home LAN
-But HTC sync (latest version) on my PC doesnt recognize my Desire Z when it's plugged in
Merry Christmas

Ok I am no newbie to this, but I am sick of the frustration that comes with this problem. I've had me TC for a couple months now and it will not be recognized with my PC. I've had this problem before.... deleting the partnership, changing the USB ports and settings, downloading the newest sync software, and shutting down the fire wall, yet nothing works. The only thing I can do is use Bluetooth, which is to slow to transfer files. I need some help here, because even backing up everything on the phone and doing a hard reset takes too long to restore what I have on it now.
try to unmark ->settings->connections->usbtoPC-> enhanced network functions.
sorry, i have a german one, so look for that function.
I have the same problem with my o2 xda orbit 2.
I found that if I turned off the bluetooth and wifi it connected ok but even that seems to have stopped working now.
I got it back
I shut off the windows firewall with Vista and it works every time now. This is odd since I always had it on before and never made a change to the settings. In fact once I had given permission for windows mobile center to run with the security I never had this problem before. All I can say is it is a serious pain to disable it every time I want to access my files on the phone.
the joys of activesync......
I'm running XP-Pro on both my home and desktop PC's
with my orbit 2 I have no problem connecting at home, but failed miserably at work (other than the first time after I'd installed activesync).
I'd concluded that it was my firewall settings (which are outside of my authority to alter) we're the cause of the problem and gave up.
What usually happens is an activesync connection is established (I alway click on cancel in the first box - because I don't want to sync files etc, just to be able to explore and install software), and then when I click on explore (after it says connected) it just hangs for a minutes or so, before disconnecting.
However, I hooked up my Orbit2 to my laptop in my hotel last night (to charge) and I noticed that I could explore. OK I thought, it was the firewall.
But then today I tried exactly the same thing, and we're back to the non communicating version.
Any ideas,
Any ways to force activesync into submission - even if just at the explore level?
Thanks
simple joys
Well Vista doesn't use active sync, but I'll try to give you what I have learned. First it always helps to have the latest version of the software. I'd delete active sync from the computer and end the partnership on the phone. The phone then says to hook it up with a computer to establish a connection. Before you do restart both. Download newest version from windowsmobile, install and restart again. Disable firewall and any antivirus ( it makes a difference ) and try to establish the new partnership. If that doesn't work sometimes the comm ports are wrong and you have to find out which your phone uses. Once I had a Moto Q9h unbranded that would not sync with USB no matter what I did from the start, but it would work with a bluetooth sync. That was the worst speed ever. Anyway Good Luck.
Thanks,
yes I am using the latest (for XP) active sync.
I also uninstalled it / re-installed it
I also deleted the profile
All to no avail
Virus / Firewall settings are locked on this laptop.
Same problem
I'm using vista, uninstalled and reinstalled the last version of ActiveSync, deleted the partnership and the phone does not not connect to the pc. I dunno what to do .
p.s. : firewall is off.
no sync with xp and vista
hi
I see that Im not alone...Isync my polaris with my personal pc (vista 32) and with my professional pc (xp pro).
my rom is Aserg (many rom tested before like Bepe....same PB)
its impossible to sync both pc. I have to erase partner ship each time I want to sync.
Im not sure, but I think that windows 61 is responsible. Is that possible ? thank you for helping me !

You said you updated active sync, but Vista doesn't use that program. You need to use Windows mobile device center. If you go to windowsmobile.com there is an update you can download that you install with the phone connected. That might work.

You have to delete every time, because once it is synced with one computer it establishes a relationship with that pc or laptop. The two operating systems use two different programs, but really the computers should have the partnership saved. I'm not sure if the phone can have two as well though.
I've searched the developement thread, general thread and haven't found an answer. My Windows 7 X64 box doesn't recognize the phone. I've rebooted both the phone and computer, still no love. My sdk is up todate and have googled for the drivers but just get links to join other forums. Just got it today in the USA, could it be the phone wasn't supposed to be released yet? Any help will be appreciated.
I'm not sure I follow. Device drivers for what function? Mass storage device should be supported without extra drivers. For HTC sync, Internet sharing from pc, etc, you need to install HTC sync, which you can find on the SD card that came with the phone or on HTC website. Bluetooth functions require drivers from the maker of your Bluetooth transceiver or pc.

I put this in the other thread where you asked. Download HTC Sync

[PROBLEM] Issue with internet sharing from PC to phone via USB
Hi,
I don't want to start a new thread, because this one is similar to my problem.
I have HTC Sense, and when I connect it to PC and select "Internet form PC", my PC gets a blue screen.
I've installed HTC Sync provided with microSD included to phone, and when i connect phone with PC via USB with HTC Sync selected - everything is OK, phone synchronizes data with Outlook and stuff... But, when I want to update some data in my phone via Internet from PC (during HTC Sync connection) - my PC crashes and gives me a blue screen
What is going on? Does any of You have same issue?
I have Windows XP Professional 32bit with SP3
Could someone help?
Thanx in advance

About a year ago i sent an e-mail to HTC asking just that, at that time they did not support Mac's, and after that i just forgot about it...
Exactly what do you want to accomplish by connecting your phone to your mac?
If it is just to access the memory card it should just work.
I think if i remember right i wanted mostly two things, tethering through usb and managing contacts, the first one is solved easily by using wifi tethering, and the second one is much easier to do by always create your contacts on google(not sim, not in phone memory), and then you can just arrange them in your google account using a computer, that also means the next time you have a Android phone, your contacts will always be backed up and restored whenever you register your new phone with your google account(for market).

I'm also looking for a Mac driver; ever since rooting my phone using Revolutionary my computer no longer recognizes that the phone is connected, and the phone doesn't recognize that the computer is connected. I've also tried it on my Linux and Windows machines at home and neither of them work either. The problem is with the phone, not the desktop OS.
Any ideas? Sounds like it would be a driver issue, but I'm not 100% certain.
EDITED: I rebooted my linux machine at home (first time in months!) and it does actually work there. But it seems to have lost the mac and windows drivers. I don't care about the windows one so much, but I use a music syncing app called DoubleTwist that AFAIK is not available for Linux. (Plus, my iTunes library is on my work Mac.)
I have Android Revolution HD 5.2.3 installed and I don't believe my USB has worked since. However, the two events may not be related. In any event, my PC won't recognize my Inspire and when I plug it into the PC USB port it will charge but nothing else, i.e the "Connect to PC" pop up menu won't show (yes, I have the ask me box checked) nor does the PC recognize the Inspire. My wife also has an Inspire (stock) and it works perfectly on the PC so I'm pretty sure all is well on the PC side. Any thoughts? tia
Same problem here :/

Same problem to me I didn't find any solution yat? Nobody knows how?
I didn't know anyone else had the same problem, it happened to me too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34738674#post34738674
By any chance did one of you find a fix?
Hi all, repost, hope I get a quick reply, as HTC suggest a factory reset...
My HTC synced like a dream with HTC sync manager before. Now I got a new computer (with USB 3.0) and every time I want to synv with HTC sync manager it gives a message on the phone that it "cannot connect to HTC sync manager, m,ake sure it is installed and open", while actually HTC sunc manager is already installed and open.
I tried the following:
-debugging is checked, and so is allow mock locations (now, not before)
-installed and uninstalled various HTC sync manager versions many times
-uninstalled HTC sync manager from my phone, so that it will install again after I tried to connect
-changed cable and usb ports (i only have 2 actually(
Nothing works... now I read that the ONE S needs a USB 2 port and I only have USB 3 ports. can that be the problem?
Hope that someone can help!
regards
Hi,
New to the forum and would appreciate some assistance.
I have a HTC One (M8) on EE, Android version 4.4.3 software 2.26.61.1 which until yesterday ran 4.4.2 from the box absolutely fine.
My issue is that when using the usb cable to connect to my pc, as I have done for months, with no other changes other than the ota update yesterday I can now no longer use the device for usb mass storage. In windows explorer style or other.
The pc is running XP so thought it may have been an MTP issue, so installed;
Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit
microsoft .com download id 19153
which has made no difference.
I do have a windows 7 laptop and file browsing works fine regardless of the recent update however my main storage is exclusively connected to my PC and it has been in fine working order always, until this recent update.
All cables being used ate the ones supplied with the device going direct into USB2 ports.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC Sync manager and associated software both from the phone and from the HTC website.
To be honest the Sync Manager software has always been more trouble than its worth in my opinion.
The phone has been plugged into the PC for an hour and a half incase there was any install issues but this has made no difference.
No driver installations have failed or are outstanding in device manager and I'm at a complete loss.
I feel I shouldn't have to factory reset my phone or install a custom ROM as it should in my opinion work out of the box and any ota updates be thoroughly tested so would rather not go down that route.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
