Inside Look, No SIM Card Slot - G Tablet General

Here is an inside look that the Gtablet. I only took the back cover off. Battery is a 3650mAh, 7.4V, 27.0Wh, looks easy to replace if needed. Two missing components. There is a switch in the middle of the unit, when powered up if I press the switch, the unit resets with no data loss that I can tell. The board Rev is 7265C dated 2010-08-06 VER2.0. As fo the SIM card slot, there is a spot for it, but it is empty, and it dos not look like you could easily modify it to add the slot, and chance are the missing components may be for the SIM card/phone capabilities. Wish I could compare this to the 1GB model with the SIM card slot to see the diffs. Enjoy the pics...

There's been some discussion about the SIM card (and possibility of adding lighted buttons):

SDHC card frequently disappears (SOLVED)

Hello,
Sometimes (often) my Touch Pro doesn't recognize my SDHC card. Contact with the card disappears while using TP (very annoying while using the GPS in my car).
I tried many different ROMs from xda
I tried to replace my Sandisk 8Gb with a 16Gb Kingston
The problem persists.
Sometimes the card reappears after a soft reset sometimes not.
Sometimes the card reappears after waiting sometimes not.
I tried to modify some keys in registry (found on xda forum) with no luck
Is my Raphael good for the trashcan?

did you place the memory card correctly in the device? push it all the way in... there's a spring loading mechanism to push it out, and it'll work if you put it in correctly
// i originally thought that the card slot was like a microSDHC to SDHC adapter where you pull the card out, but found out about the spring, after seeing that the device not finding my memory card (because it was'nt in enough)
Yes, the card is inserted the right way.
Perhaps that's a bad contact but it's very difficult to see anything.
This problem seems frequent, I found many people talking about that on the board but no convincing answers for me
This has happened to me a handful of times.. The quickest thing I've noticed that gets it to work is inserting a different Micro SD and then removing it and inserting the original again. No clue why it happens, seems random?
Sounds crazy, but WD-40 is your friend. Sounds like your contacts for the card are dirty.
Try this. Remove the card. Use a can of compressed air and gently blow out the card slot. Take some WD-40 and spray a bit on a lint free towel. Use that to clean the card contacts. Don’t, spray the WD-40 directly on the phone or card, the propellants can damage the plastic. WD-40 by itself is very safe to use on almost anything.
I would apply enough WD-40 to the card with the hopes that it will make the contacts slight moist inside the slot. Maybe this will help.
I had a problem with my home button not working. I pried the edge up a bit and gave it a small blast of WD-40. Problem solved and has not re-surfaced in 3 months.
Plenty of people will disagree with this approach, but I use WD-40 for a great number of things.

I tried to use WD-40 the way you explained. It didn't solved the problem. After 24h the SDHC disappeared.
I tried to block the card in low position in the slot (string compressed) with a head of toothpick. Past some hours, SDHC was gone again
This makes me crazy!
Try adjusting the pnp delays with advanced config or a registry editor. Here's the settings in xml (from adv config):
Code:
<setting key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager" name="PNPUnloadDelay" type="integer">

PNP unload delay

Specifies the delay in milliseconds between unmounting and detaching a storage device. A longer delay fixes disappearing SD card on some devices.

<values default="5000" />
</setting>
<setting key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager" name="PNPWaitIODelay" type="integer">

PNP wait I/O delay

Specifies the amount of time (in milliseconds) waited before re-trying an I/O operation on an unavailable storage device. A longer delay fixes disappearing SD card on some devices.

<values default="5000" />
</setting>
I made 2 things:
- Farmer Ted registry changes
- I inserted a piece of thick plastic film between the card and and the small metal plate in order to push the contacts of the card toward those of the slot.
I'll give results here soon.
If I remember correctly, I turn off bluetooth when my fuze doesn't recognize memory card. I have jetbluetooth installed.

After flashing my ROM without changing the registry keys (Ted Farmer's), the SD card never disappeared again.
It appears that the plastic film trick was the solution of my problem.

[q] sim card slot on hp touchpad

Hi Everyone, has anyone tried to crack open and put in a sim card as shown here: techrepublic "Cracking Open the HP Touchpad" I can't post a link as I am a new user, but will post it in 8 hours when I get permission.
Would love to know if anyone has this working or has at least tried it.
Here is the link

mine has a sim card slot i can actually pop out???
What do you mean? You can actually put in a sim card in the slot? If so, have you tried putting in a sim card? Did it register a Network provider?
Are you sure you are not just talking about the "serial number" that pops out, but is blocked (no space for a sim card)
yes it should pop out
Perhaps you accidentally bought the Touchpad 4G? That ought to have a SIM slot.
??????
Did you try to put a sim card in the slot, or are you simply referring to the "serial number" pop out. They are not the same.
If you did put a sim card in, did it work?
I see what youre talking about in those pictures, but it doesnt look like it has any sort of electrical connection going to it.

[Q] SD Card not recognised

Hi,
I have tried a couple of different cards in my Raph100, and I get "Not installed" in the Storage card control panel.
In the about page, installing and removing the card changes the status of Expansion slot: from "In use" to "Not in Use", so something is happening.
I have formatted the card as fat32 from Windows 7, and even removed and re-added the partition with Linux Disk Utility. I also tried a different card.
Is there any hope? I just saw there's been some activity on the Android side recently, so I thought I'd dig out the old Raphael. Looks like maybe it's dead.
Thanks
Edit: more messing around, and things are fine. Post can be deleted if you like.
Mods: feel free to delete this useless post now.
Well since you found out how to do it, it would be nice if you could share this information.
I'm having the same issue.
I had this issue with one of my HTC Fuzes too. The Fuze would not recognize the SD card. I tried several alternative SD cards that we had on hand varying in gigs ranging from 2 to 16, some new and some used. None of them were recognized. I determined that the card reader slot was just dusty. I puckered my lips in kissing fashion to direct my breath into the slot and blew as hard as I could (careful not to spit!). That did the trick! When I reinserted the SD card in the slot, it was read normally and perfectly.
Canned air probably would have been a better and safer way of blowing out the dust.

[Q] sim card replacement

i bought a t959v with cracked screen for main board. i have a new lcd replacment screen. when i put it together and turn it on i try to make a call it says not registered on network also not seeing any internet signal but is showing full 4 bars for reception .when i hit software update it says DM initialization not ready check nrtwork or sim card. i know sim card is good because i just took it from another t959v. is there a way to check reader . thinking it might be bad.called t mobile and had phone registered. is it easy to swap out sim reader. thanks. ps i swaped a main board out like this once before and it conected with no problem
try reseating the simcard part (requires unscrewing and removing the back). While the part is removed, check all the pins to make sure they are connected right.

Samsung Galaxy S8 SIM tray not working fine

After I replaced the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S8,
I wasn't able to put in my sim tray in anymore. Because of that, I cut of the bottom of the sim card tray, so I was again to put in the sim card tray but from there on had to tape on my sim card. After I to put in a sd card, I wasn't able to push into the hole for the sim-ejecting tool, so I had to pull it out very hardly. After I put a sd-card in, the phone didn't detect the sd-card. I tried everything, but nothing works. Can someone helps me or explain me why it is like that? Thanks a lot
