[Q] SD Card not recognised - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi,
I have tried a couple of different cards in my Raph100, and I get "Not installed" in the Storage card control panel.
In the about page, installing and removing the card changes the status of Expansion slot: from "In use" to "Not in Use", so something is happening.
I have formatted the card as fat32 from Windows 7, and even removed and re-added the partition with Linux Disk Utility. I also tried a different card.
Is there any hope? I just saw there's been some activity on the Android side recently, so I thought I'd dig out the old Raphael. Looks like maybe it's dead.
Thanks
Edit: more messing around, and things are fine. Post can be deleted if you like.

Mods: feel free to delete this useless post now.

Well since you found out how to do it, it would be nice if you could share this information.
I'm having the same issue.

I had this issue with one of my HTC Fuzes too. The Fuze would not recognize the SD card. I tried several alternative SD cards that we had on hand varying in gigs ranging from 2 to 16, some new and some used. None of them were recognized. I determined that the card reader slot was just dusty. I puckered my lips in kissing fashion to direct my breath into the slot and blew as hard as I could (careful not to spit!). That did the trick! When I reinserted the SD card in the slot, it was read normally and perfectly.
Canned air probably would have been a better and safer way of blowing out the dust.

Corrupted/invisible MicroSD card

Hi all,
I have a MicroSD card, which has been working fine before.
All of a sudden it stopped working, being not visible in card readers.
- Computers (XP/Vista) with an external card reader, show the drive letter for the reader, but just to tell me that there's nothing inside there.
- Several Windows Mobile 6 devices don't show the inserted card.
- Symbian S60 devices recognize the card as 'a card', telling me it's corrupted and ask me to format it. At an attempt to do so, it asks me if I want to continue, since other programs are using the card (which is not true). After saying "Yes, continue", nothing happens and the phone keeps saying the card is corrupted.
- On one Vista PC with a front panel card reader, the 'My Computer' window freezes when trying to open the drive, representing the front panel where the MicroSD card is in. Same for right clicking it in an attempt to format. When I take out the card, 'My Computer' instantly unfreezes.
It seems that that PC somehow 'sees' that the card is there (unlike the PC's where I use an external card reader for).
--
As you can see, a lot of different things, yet none of them offers me a way to format the card for use again.
Who has the solution here? Are there any magical tools/tips/tricks to save my card (a format would be no problem) or is it done for?
Thanks!
not that i know off many SD cards seem to die young
and the whole format was never made to last ages
which i guess is why sandisk made this

if it'd under warrenty return it otherwise i'd sugest you flush it down the toilet

Phone and SD Card showing up Separately

I am having a problem finding thins in "Files" and "Astro" on Tmo GS2. This is a general ? that could happen to me or anyone on any phone, I assume, so I put here. I hope its ok
I just upgraded to a 32gb sd card class 4. I was told it was good. Its a
Sandisk. I was going for a class 10, but people said it was not only not necessary, but it would slow down occasionally ... but be fabulous with games and video
regardless of that, i then looked for a class 6 Only found no names and someone said its better to have a Sandisk at a lower class than one class higher from a no name'
Well I don't know if that has to do with my problem. I can't find things. I search, nothing. I use Astro, now this is weird. Nothing. I plug into the computer, it is listing the phone as TWO separate drives. THis has never happened to me in the past and never heard it mentioned
I am sure it is nothing wrong, but a settingn somewhere and I can get all the files combined
also, I am assuming all of those file explorers on the phone cannot look into the hard drive of the phone? Is that correct, no other excuse? And this other "drive" I am speaking of, one can only assume it is the hard drive
Well in any case, if anyone could straighten me out, help me, etc.. I'd be most grateful
happy Halloween All
Eric
I have the same problem on my eeepad transformer
I bought a 32 GB microSD card from Trascendent. When I nstall apps that are supposed to be installed on the external SD card it does not do that. It goes to the internal SD card. When I sync it with my PC it shows both devices. The SD card is completely empty except for a folder that reads LostDir. How can I get the external SD working?
Any pros or mods, please correct me if needed.
The GS2 does it differently keeping them separately
You can choose on your phone which apps to store on phone or sd card. You can go to settings/apps/ and select move to sd card etc.
some, however will not go there no matter whatt
when you go to usb mode on the puter, you will see two drives show up
One is SD CARD - this is actually your PHONE
The OTHER is labeled EXT. SD CARD (for external) - This is the actual inserted sd card
On the SD Card, you will see in its contents in the computer window the external sd folder within the sd card
...even tho, on the far left (windows 7 and others) you will see the two drives listed separately
That is the best I can do. I understand it enough that it works. I may even understand it better than that but just not able to explain it
Enjoy

[Q] MicroSD suddenly invisible to phone and PC?

So today after a reboot, my Skyrocket no longer reads the 32gb Sandisk MicroSD I've been using in it for a year now. The card has worked flawlessly and now it's unrecognizable. So, I figured, whatever, cards die, right? I took it out of the phone and stuck it into the PC adapter (which is tested to work, based on other cards I have) and NOTHING. According to every resource on Windows 7 and XP, no external media is present at all.
What. The. Hell.
Anyone have this problem or have a fix? All my photos and lots of stuff for work is just gone, forever, somehow. Please help.
Jon
Sounds dead. I would carefully polish the gold contacts a bit with a soft abradant, like an ink eraser. Avoid static discharge. Remove any debris and retry detection in a known good card reader. Also retest your 2 card readers' MicroSD slots with a working card.
Agreed - it sounds dead. If you have data on it, have you tried recovering the data on it using the SanDisk tools?
Google "recover flash sd card sandisk" - sorry I can't paste a direct link yet (not enough permissions on XDA yet)
SanDisk will probably replace it for you under warranty.

[Q] MicroSD card

Just bought an ASUS HD7 tablet - specs show it will take a 32gB SD. I have a 32gB SD in my Nook Color (CM7) that has a lot of music. Let's bring it over and try that on the new HD7. I unmounted the SD card on the Nook, powered off and powered off the HD7. Inserted the card and powered the HD7 on. After boot, it claimed to be "preparing the SD card for use". I thought, "Great". But, sadly no music. I inspected the SD card with ES File Expl - it identified the SD card but with only 114mB capacity. The card is mounted but shows folders with no files/sub-folders I know are there when in the Nook C.
I pulled out a brand new 32gB SD card - never been used - right out of the blister pack. Dismounted, powered down. Inserted fresh card, powered up, "Preping card - yada-yada". But this time the new card shows an even smaller 96mB capacity.
So obviously I'm missing some key Android-ness point with respect to these cards. Since I've never actually swapped them like this, I'm sort of treating them like a "USB flash or thumb drive" and maybe I shouldn't. Am I just ignorant and missing some sort of prep step or "mount this card" command? Is it possible this reader is defective? (Remember - it recognizes, mounts and unmounts without incident...) Is it a fact that I can independently move these around from device to device in Android even if my versions are different (quite different in fact)?
Any guidance appreciated.

There is no prepping required for Android to recognise SD cards. Usually, they work just as thumbdrives on a PC. The "remove hardware" process should be observed because this will ensure that any cached data will be written to the removable media and that the files are all closed.
With Android, in Settings-Storage, there is a Mount / Unmount. This is similar to add or remove the storage media, eg, SD card.
You can try this workaround. As before, when switched off, insert the SD card to the HD7 and then switch it on. Go to the Settings-Storage and you should see the SD card details. Do an Unmount, remove the SD card, wait a while and then re-insert the SD card and do a Mount. You might be able to acess the data on your SD card by now.
If this still does not work and since you had just bought the HD7, bring it to the seller and have it checked. Also bring along both your SD cards that you had tried to use, as well as the Nook so that you can prove to the seller that there is nothing wrong with the SD cards.

Answer comes from another forum:
Try a Safe Mode boot. Forget it. No help.
But...
•Power down
•Pop out SD
•Power up
•Say prayer
•Android shows the desktop
•Settings // Storage
•There's the Internal Memory restored to its correct position
•While still powered on, pop IN the SD
•Another prayer
•"Preparing SD Card..."
•Poof - it shows now as the second selection
•Done
Bonus: Tablet now runs smoothly just like it was.

[Guide] How To Unbrick A Softbricked [F117 Tablet]

Here is a quick and easy guide on how to fix the infamous, "no brand", made in China, F117 tablet. Most everyone that has one had bought it off ebay because it was the cheapest 7" tablet available online at one time. Price was around $35. It has no identifying brand, and no volume buttons. On the back it simply says, "made in China" and "model F117". They are notorious for soft-bricking for no apparent reason, and most people had trouble with wifi on it among other issues. A family member gave one to me as it was useless to them, and I spent many days and countless hours trying to figure out how to get it working properly, or working better than before. It would power up and say "irulu" and then be stuck at "android" screen. I scanned the internet hard and saw at least 100 people had the same problem with no solution. I even contacted irulu and worked my way up to speaking with a top representative of the company. In the end he claimed it was not an irulu tablet! I could not believe it! I have come to believe that this tablet has a lot of mysteries surrounding its true origin. I eventually figured out a solution through a lot of trial and error, and translating websites from other countries. If you are reading this now, then you probably have not found any answer online like myself. Especially if you are from the USA. With that being said I cannot guarantee it will work for you, but at this point you probably have nothing to lose. There are slightly different ways to do this, but this is how I did it...
*The only way I found to shut it off once it is stuck at the "android" screen, was to stick a thumbtack in the tiny hole on the back that says "reset", or to let it run out of battery. Obviously the first option is better!
*Using a computer, I downloaded the "F117 en.ius" file next (I was scared to download to my phone, just in case it auto-booted!). You don't have to sign up or pay anything. Just choose the low speed, free download from this site...
http://файлообменник.рф/download/folder/1229260
*I grabbed a 2gb micro sd card that I didn't care about, (it was the smallest one I had) and made sure I saved anything important on it to my computer.
*I inserted micro sd card into regular sd card, and inserted into mmc slot in my laptop (running windows xp).
*I opened up the "my computer" option on my laptop and located the drive letter that was related to my mmc slot.
*WARNING! Make sure you know which drive is related to your mmc slot before going any furthur! Pop out the sd card and pop it back in again to watch it disappear and reappear! If you make a mistake and select the wrong drive in the next step, you could erase your hard drive!
*I right-clicked on the drive letter that was related to my mmc slot and formatted it as fat32 (This will erase everything on micro sd card!)
*I copied the f117 file I downloaded earlier to the drive related to my mmc slot (nothing else is required in this case to make the sd card bootable).
*I unmounted the sd card by choosing the safely remove hardware option.
*I inserted the micro sd card into the tablet and had to use a paperclip to push it all the way in until it clicked.
*I held down the power button and the menu button at the same time until message popped up asking if I wanted to boot from sd card.
*I hit the menu button to select yes, and it booted right up like brand new (but better because it upgraded android version!) and has been working great for a year now without any bugs!
Please let me know if this worked for you, or if you have any questions. Thanks!
