[Q] Facebook Connection and Other Issues

After two weeks with my Focus, I'm obviously loving it. Upgrading from the Tilt has brought new meaning to my life.
Anyway, I've had enough little problems come up that I thought I'd try and get some questions answered by those smarter than I!
Integrated Facebook: Ever since the first day, I've been having issues with my Facebook account. Specifically, under Settings>email & accounts, the Facebook account says "Attention Required." Clicking on the account brings up an error popup that says "Not updated/We're having a problem connecting. Try again later./Last tried 8 hours ago/Error code: 83CF3104." Previously it gave error code "85FB5300." Here's a useless thread I started at MS Answers: http://social.answers.microsoft.com...266a6d0/#53db5744-b48c-4af8-bad5-9fe0fe95f61c It does manage to update FB from time to time, but it's wildly inconsistent.
This isn't that big a deal, but when I go to Facebook.com and login using IE on the phone, I get the "pocket version" which doesn't have any content. "Mobile version" shows up as a link on the page, but nothing is clickable. No biggie since I have the app and integration, just annoying.
IHeartRadio seems to lockup every time I use it. When I navigate away from it and then want to go back, it tries to start, shows the logo, then backs out.
My second most unstable app is Marketplace itself! It behaves exactly the same as above.
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
EDIT: Adding #5: Everyone says that I should be able to see an icon to find people on my exchange server, but I haven't been able to ever find it. I create a new email from my Outlook account, then click the "To" field to bring up my address book, but there is no link to my exchange directory. Am I doing something wrong?
do you have ssl enabled in facebook settings? if so, try disabling it.

I don't have an option for SSL in the Facebook account settings on the phone. Is that what you're asking?

I get "search exchange directory" buttons both in email and the people hub. In email, start typing the name of the person you're looking for, and the last entry in the list you get will be the exchange directory. Similarily, using search in the people hub will have exchange as the last possible button.

Yup! That's what I've heard, and what I don't get. I wonder if my company's implementation is messed up.

No... if you have the SSL option enabled on your Facebook account, not on your phone, the people hub will not update.
Seems to be an issue with the Focus as other WP7 users have not seen this issue,
I've looked every where I can in the phone and cannot see where the settings are that control the Facebook feed.
Log into Facebook via your web browser and disable the SSL setting under your security options.
For anyone still suffering this problem, I found a solution:
SOLUTION (from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...83cf0108/4c4c7887-2b8b-4a83-b816-bf26e265fe17)
I went through my People Hub, opening every contact that had no picture to see what account they were in. Most of them were contacts from my Live account, but ONE was a Facebook contact. (Per the thread above, Facebook connection problems can be caused by a friends' corrupt profile picture.) I went to her profile online (where the picture showed up fine) and unfriended her. I had to wait several hours for her to disappear from my People Hub, but once she did I immediately went to Settings>Email & Accounts and, for the first time ever, saw the Facebook account with no error message!
As I said, I have been suffering this error message since day 1, although I've seen at least 4 distinct error codes (85FB4400, 85FB5300, 83CF3104, 83CF0108). I tried deleting and restoring the Facebook account, deleting and restoring the Facebook app, changing my Facebook password, logging out of Facebook on my PC, all to no avail. I never performed a factory reset, because I've installed all of my apps from the Marketplace (not Zune), and was not eager to hunt them all down again (please tell me this is another WP7 bug that is being fixed).
Hope this helps others! I've refreinded her and she's changed her profile pic in the last few weeks, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I had the problem with facebook too a few months back. Turned out to be one profile picture that appeared as a red x. Unfriended and the error went away for me too.
Yeah, re-adding her as a friend and the problem is back. Hoping she changes her pic soon.

dont see the default wp7 email app in the marketplace

Not really sure why my thread was closed. No one notified me of any reason, it was just closed. So I'm simply going to repost and try again.
i had uninstalled the default email app and opted for the hotmail app some time ago. i've just updated to mango and want to try the new email app with threads. however, when updating to mango it didn't reinstall the app nor can i find it in the marketplace (i don't see the hotmail app in the marketplace either). any ideas on how i can get the app back?
thanks
try adding an email account from settings/accounts?
the email clients have never been in the marketplace afaik...
simple: you can not "uninstall" the default mail app and there's no hotmail app in the marketplace. Are you sure you're talking about WP7?
I'll experiment some more with it. I either uninstalled or perhaps it just deleted a pinned item for the "default" email client. I also remember specifically installing a hotmail app. I went for the hotmail app because the default email app treated my email as a pop account rather than an imap. The hotmail app worked flawlessly. This was all done, pre nodo update.
(edit) - Ok, so i fooled with the email accounts and added my old gmail account to see what it would do. It added it fine and showed up in my apps menu. So, I dunno, it's certainly looking like you guys are right and I'm starting to question my memory and the existence of the Hotmail app. But, I would swear that I downloaded a Hotmail app. Either way, after sending myself multiple emails from my gmail account and replying back and forth to myself I now see that the threaded email feature is indeed there.
sooooo, sorry for wasting ya'll time, but thanks for kindly pointing me in the right direction.
The item in the app list called "Hotmail" is created by default on your device when you sign in with your live ID. If you go into your email and accounts settings and under windows live and uncheck "e-mail", the "Hotmail" item in your app list will go away. Conversely, if you go into settings for your windows live account and check off "e-mail", "Hotmail" will come back.
Hope this clears up the confusion.
your thread was closed because -per rules- you should post this into general
Perhaps the OP is a beginner?
This might help: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/people/set-up-an-email-account.aspx
When you unpin an email account from the main screen, it is not deleted. You can still find it in the app list.
Please read the stickys. I closed because of that reason. I will reopen and move to the appropriate section.

SOLVED [Q] Email App with GMAIL as exchange server deleting emails

This is now solved based on the post Bellow go to www.google.com/sync on a browser with agent as iPhone or from actual iOS browser and choose your device (check the last sync time) and check the appropriate box.
So I`m trying the Skyrocket and of course one of the main apps used is email. I tried GMAIL app and it sucks, not being able to pinch to zoom or just resize html message is unacceptable.
So I`m using native email app setup gmail as exchange server so it`ll push messages out and its not great, but good enough... One thing I ran in to today, when I delete emails from the phone they do not go in to TRASH folder, seems that it archives the messages, even if I manually move the message to trash folder it still doesnt put them there. Seems only way to see those messages is if I check all mail.
I need to change this behavior any idea ? I need mails to go to trash when I delete them on the phone...
Found a google support discussion on this topic, but I can't post it here because I haven't reached 8 posts. Do a google search for the help topic "Google Sync, Gmail, and iPhone -- mail getting archived instead of moved to trash"
To change the delete button from archiving to delete, you can visit m.google.com/sync from the iOS browser (this will not work from the desktop) and chose the setting for “Delete email as trash”. Once enabled, the delete button on iOS Mail app will now move the message to Trash instead of archiving it.

The interesting thing is they just updated this feature two days ago (or at least that's when they posted about it).

I swear I followed that link from another page that talked about issues on android, but now I can't even seem to find that. Sorry for that oversight.
It seems that the only way around it is to use IMAP or use the native GMAIL app. Google people seem to follow the /r/google subreddit, perhaps that's a place to mention it?
THis is the stupides thing ever ! I just went to the m.google.com/sync page on iphone on indroid it doesnt work and i see my device there and I can change settings, but I dont think it works in the client. I dont get it so this is fixed on the iOS client, but not android ? Google own ?
Ok actually changing on the iOS device worked.... which is of course strange, but ok.. Now here is another thing, if I move that same email from trash in web interface it doesnt show up in phone... but I guess I can use all mail to get those...

End of email turns into chinese?

I'm having a rather odd problem, whenever my friend and I are replying back and forth over email,
the bottom of the email keeps turning into a complete gibberish slab of what seems to be Chinese/Japanese.
The last reply shows fine, but the ones before it are garbled.
I'm running ICS on an asus transformer prime, not rooted and using stock email app.
I have one hotmail account (used to correspond with my friend) and one gmail account on it.
Id gladly supply more info if requested.
Anyone have any clue as to what on earth is going on?
- Sven
Are you using the "stock email app" which means the "Email" app (as opposed to the Gmail app)?
Yessum, the standard email app, not the gmail one.
Ive done some tests to try and replicate the problem, to no avail.
Ive emailed myself from one account to another and replied back and forth about 10 times,
but I can not get it to "chinesify" the older replies lower down the email.
So im not sure exactly where this weird corrupted crud is coming from.
My friend describes it as "there are a buncha blocks at the bottom",
I assume its the same Chinese im seeing except he is missing the font for it.
If theres another good email app (with widget/alerting!) that would solve this,
id gladly give it a spin since in my opinion the standard one isn't all that amazing.
People mention K-9 but that seems to be very phone oriented, not at all for tablets.

Poweramp Wont Recognise e-mail

Hello,
I'm having trouble getting the paid for version of Poweramp to recognise my email address for license verification. I've sent three messages through the Get Support function in the app and I haven't had a single reply in 6 days. I've tried posting on the Poweramp forum but all new users need to be cleared by admin before they can post and after four days I still can't get on there.
I know this is probably something only the dev can help with but as I'm getting no response, I'm hoping someone on here can help. Here is the message I sent to Support:
I’ve purchased the app, my e-mail address is showing in accounts but I'm still getting the ‘No such account on device’ message.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling countless times but I'm getting nowhere.
I’m running CM12.1 (Android 5.1.1) on Galaxy S2
My e-mail address is POP3, on my device correctly and working as it should.
Poweramp version is Website and app installed is Poweramp-2.0.10-build-582-uni.apk
What am I doing wrong?
