So.. I've got a little problem.
I may choose between a HTC Touch 3G and a HTC Magic.
First of all, i prefer the design of the Touch 3G. It just looks much nicer than the Magic. On the other hand, I'm unsure which OS fits me.
What I'd like to have:
- A fast OS. Theres nothing I hate more than waiting until my sms-inbox is open (even there are 5000+ items in there)
- A bit connectivity. I'd like to write SMS from my computer via bluetooth, and to synchronize my contacts
- Eyecandy. Yeah, i like beautiful UIs and beautiful phones.
- A good-looking phone
- Messaging. I like to write SMS, so I kinda like good input-possibilites
- Geekstuff. I like apps without any sense, which are just. geeky. =O
Well.. yeah. I know that WinMo is highly customizable, and theres also a good chance that Android gets ported onto the Touch 3G. But the Touch 3G has a resistive touchscreen, which also scares me a bit. On the other hand, I really like the upcoming WinMo 6.5. It looks quite nice and smooth from what I saw.
So.. what would you prefer?
Greetz
Welcome to the forum
I would choose a WM device because Android looks good but I think it´s an unmature OS, perhaps on the future can be a good option but for now I´ll stick to WM
Good luck,
Isn't the touch 3G much cheaper than the magic?
In India, the price difference is nearly 10k! The diamond2 however, is almost the same price.
Between those two phones, i'd go for the magic. But if I wasn't being that restrictive I'd take the diamond2. Its also guaranteed to get wm6.5 whenever that comes out...
I've never owned a BB.
I want a reliable phone that will last me at least 2 years.
note: I take good care of my phones
Storm 2 + for me:
Blackberry messenger, since everyone seems to have it
CAMERA FLASH!!
Battery Life?
BBs are supposed to be reliable right?
Big screen
comes with a big memory card
Android + for me:
the Android OS is fast!
Customizable home screen
5mp camera ( no flash... basically cant take pictures at night)
The size of it
Huge app market, growing
Concerns :
how reliable the surepress of the Storm2 is. Will it crap out on me in a year?
HTC reliablility. I currently own a HTC Touch Diamond and it hasnt been too reliable. But I might fault that to windows mobile and mainly the resistive screen. The screen seems to have problems. But then again, the Hero and S2 both have capacitive screens so thats huge in terms of reliability for me (not sure about surepress though).
ps. I dont like hardware keyboards, they arent comfortable for me to type on.
I'm not a heavy e-mailer.
I want a fun and reliable phone.
Suggestions? Thanks!
Stick with the best: HTC & Android!

HTC hasnt really proven to me that they are the best, lol
Go for Hero!!
Just thinking to use blackberry OS make me sick...
HTC as any other company has it's bad times but they deliver great quality products.
Also XDA great support to HTC devices is a plus to consider
Just my opinion

Blackberry non-touch phones are reliable. Don't know about the Storm series.
HTC Hero, unlike HTC Diamond has better virtual keybaord, better touch screen, better speed performance.
Now comparing HTC to BBS2: The memory card should not be a PRO because you are better comparing the performance of the phone, and not the external goodies that your seller provides. (TIE)
Android does have more programs (I think). Black Berry messenger, depends who where you are and depends on your friends. (Honestly different friends equates to different messengers). My friends in Michigan all used Windows Messenger on the PC. My friends in California use yahoo messenger on the PC. The messenger app, is your choice. Besides you might even find a blackberry messenger program that could work on the HTC Hero. (HTC Wins)
Camera: 5 Megapixels w/o flash vs 3 Megapizels w/ flash (TIE)
Screen Size: Don't be a fool, both screens are approximately the same size. Look at the specs, there is only a .5 inch difference. Not a deal breaker. Can't believe that you said it had a "BIG" screen when you compare it to a phone with a screen almost just as big. (TIE)
Reliability: Storm 2 online support, good but not super technical. HTC Hero online support, very awesome and full of techie people. Storm 2 OS out of the box is reliable I guess. And so is the HTC Hero. But remember that a phone that works with 3rd party software (HTC Hero) becomes very buggy. (HTC Hero Wins).
HTC Hero Size: WTF? You buy a phone just because it's small? Dude, buy a phone because it works. Also, I can fit an HD2 in my pocket it had a 4.5 inch screen, stop acting like it can't fit in your pocket. Why are people complaining that it doesn't fit when it literally fits, and my pants have small pockets!!!! (NO POINTS)
HTC Hero OS and Homescreen: I don't like android, it's still a todler. (NO POINTS)
As you can see, the Blackberry failed to win in any of the categories you mentioned. It only managed to sort of tie with the HTC Hero. But this is my opinion.
Also, both phones suck, and HTC Hero generated too much hype.
I am looking forward to these phones: Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC Nexus, HTC HD2.
Now comparing HTC to BBS2: The memory card should not be a PRO because you are better comparing the performance of the phone, and not the external goodies that your seller provides. (TIE)

I think there are more BB apps, since android is still a "toddler" . And do you know what BBM is? It has nothing to do with Windows live or yahoo. With BBM, its almost a text message but its sent through RIM's network directly to another BB device with no delay, and I can also see if the person has read the message or not. It was a variant to text messaging, HTC does not and will not have anything like that. There is also no limit to the number of characters you can type. You dont need to have BBM "running" as it is not an app, it is part of a blackberry device.

You cant see anything with a 5mp camera at night time if it has no flash. It can be 100mp. 3.2 still provides good quality and it can be used at any time of day/night with no problems.

Um the pluses for each of these phones arent compared to each other, I am simply stating the pluses of each phone individually. The screen IS bigger, and bigger than my Diamond as well. Since the screen IS bigger and they are both capacitive and both display the same number of colours, BB wins. If we're comparing the SIZE of a screen, and one is bigger, how can it be a tie?

Im talking about the reliablity of the HARDWARE. BB has been known to have VERY reliable phones. HTC... not so much, and I own an HTC so I know. But the Hero may be different since its new.

"DUDE" I dont believe I ever mentioned that the phone "cant fit" in my pocket. I said the size is a PLUS because it is thin ...
(lol at HTC HD2 ... forget windows mobile 6.5. We can talk when they release WM7 with capacitive screens and multitouch)

lol my last comment about the HD2 was done out of spite to the people who hate huge phones.
If I were you, I would definitely go with the Hero, or maybe even wait for the Hero's successor, the Legend (supposedly released March 2010, look at the sticky called "HTC Portfolio 2010" at the top of this subforum for more info). Android is very fast, fun, and customizable OS. In addition, there's a huge community supporting the device here at XDA-Developers, if you're interested in hacking it to the fullest. I haven't heard horrible things about the Storm/Storm II, but I've never heard good things about them either. If it were me in this situation, I would go for the Hero without a doubt.
I looked up the specs of the Legend. The current specs of it wont even work with my provider. I'm soo stuck. The flash on the BB is big for me so I can take pictures whenever. But the interface and function of Android seems more refined. I havent had a good experience with my HTC and I dont know if they have upped their quality. You cant really tell from the hero because it hasnt been out too long but BB is known for the reliable builds of their phones.
Its really tough. Its a big investment for me and I need to know I'll have whichever phone for a while.
I honestly don't own either phone, and have never ventured into Android land. However, I have tried both a Storm and a Storm II... and as for the Storm I felt it to be well... antiquated - when it came out mind you. The Storm II addressed many of the issues with the Storm, but it is a Blackberry that is touch screen. BB has not had a whole lot of experience with touch screens and it shows in their interface, it just felt... well poorly planned. I cannot comment on the Hero, but am eager to try one hah
I hope that kind of helped!
Hero definitely, the only thing that can even come close to an Android phone is the iPhone, and it falls short for me every time.

Come close in what sense though?
The Storm2 will be $100 more expensive for me. But I do get that 16gb sd card, camera flash, and BB reliabilty.
Hero, $100 cheaper, can surf the web away from wifi (will have a small data plan, would only have a social plan on the BB but I would use wifi when needed), ANDROID . .. but not sure on how much it would last me.
Before I bought my HD2, the Blackberry Storm has been my mobile phone for 13 month.
I don't know Android, besides some playing around, but my experience with the blackberry:
The first version (9500/9530) had many problems, mostly because of software flaws. After one year of developement it is now very usable. The built quality seems to be even better on the new device (Storm 2).
If you want to have a phone that simply works, take the Blackberry. There are no software problems, it always does what you expect. With BIS/BES Service for instant mails, the battery will last 3 days. But there is only a small amount of software available for Blackberrys. If you want a phone to play around with, try one with android.
Greetings from Germany and sorry for my bad english...
Sebastian
You're english is fine actually! And thank you for your input. I'm wondering if I could play around with a Storm 2 as well.

HTC Hero Build Quality is better than Diamond I think. But It's not based on my usage experience, thought I've used the Diamond before. I think, in the U.S. atleast, that the HTC Hero is for higher-end consumers, and the Diamond was a very introductory device that meant to showcase Touch FLO3D. It was the first phone that had that interface, I think.
Diamond is not on-par to HTC Hero. But I tell you this, the HTC Xperia X1 was a fiasco and the build quality is really terrible. I bought this phone for 900 U.S. dollars, and ended up selling it heavily used and scratched for 250.
Considering that at that time, a high end device produced a year or two later had a build quality as crappy as a Diamond and from the same manufacturer, you might think that the Hero is very flimsy.
But you must also consider that the Xperia X1 was also a Sony Ericsson phone. It was built by HTC, but most likely designed or supervised by Sony Ericsson. Now the Xperia X1 is literally an experiment by Sony Ericsson as well as the Diamond an experiment by HTC. To tell you the truth, Sony Ericsson, prior to the production of the Xperia X1, was very inexperienced in the smartphone industry. Sony Ericsson are used to designing and selling walkmans (low-end software phones) and very flashy but very useless phones. But the point is that Xperia X1 was their first phone on THIS CATEGORY (THE SMARTPHONE), and that since it was their first phone, they are likely to mess up on the first try.
Considering that the Diamond was an experimental and introductory Touch FLO3D Phone, it should have been crappy. Now you are right to think that the Diamond was not HTC's first smartphone. But put into context the other aspects. 1) The diamond-like design that HTC had never done before and 2) the Touch FLO3D might originally be reflected by the external, physical design.
HTC Hero has been out for awhile now. But personally I hate HTC Hero and Storm 2. If I were to get an HTC budget phone, it would be the Nexus (based on everyone saying it has a good price for it's value), or the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (because I'm a keyboard lover).
But as for the reliable build of BlackBerries, my sister's BlackBerry Curve is scratched everywhere and lost all of its silver plastic chrome finish. But as for software, I don't think you should worry about issues on these phones.
But as for real software (especially the ones you intend on paying 50 bucks for), get the HTC Hero.
If your friends are all using BBM then really, you need a Blackberry. BBM is one of the main reasons behind the constant increase in device sales for RIM.
The Storm 1 was poor when it came out but after a year of fixes it was okay. The Storm 2 was good from the day it launched. However you really need to try that keyboard again and again to decide if you are happy with the click feature.
Personally I don't think much of the Hero: Small screen, slowish CPU, decent RAM, stupid chin that makes it bigger than it should be. I'm not sure how the Hero compares to the Storm 2 in terms of battery life but the Storm 2 has the bigger battery and Blackberries generally have decent battery life.
I don't know which country you're in or which network you're on but you have to remember that you'll need to have a Blackberry service package as part of your contract. With some networks this will be instead of the normal Data Package and it will also include data and with others you will need it in addition to the normal Data Package if you want to browse the web, etc.
I'm considering the Storm 2 as an option if the HD2 doesn't pan out.
I just got back from the store and tested both phones out.
The Hero does seem like it is built very well (keep in mind, when holding in hand, so does my Diamond) but I found it hard to type on the small screen.
You might say that my Diamond has a smaller screen, which it does, but due to my resistive screen, I use my finernails basically and amd very quick and accurate ... you cant use your fingernails on a capacitive screen.
When I flipped to landscape, the typing was a bit better.
Storm2 .. the typing was muchhhh easier.
but the Anroid interface was very snappy, very nice.

Oh yeah, about the typing. I'm not a fan of touch screen typing and the Storm 2 is better for typing. I don't think it's that the screen is small but that there is no tactile feedback (aside from phone vibrate). In fact buttons on screens are usually bigger then physical buttons.
I'm in the market to buy something functional with a little flash for the girlfriend. I personally love my Touch Pro II, but I'm used to flashing/updating/dealing with the device, and I'm looking for something a little more rugged and friendly for her use.
Preferably WinMo, Phone edition would be fine
Physical keyboard, since she texts me almost constantly, and I think she would enjoy the upgrade
Non-slider
Basic camera is fine
AT&T
I've looked at the Palm Treo Pro, the HTC Maple, and the Samsung Jack, none of which really sold me, am I missing a killer phone for this segment?
Thanks! -Ian
That's a pretty tough decision...
I think WM is not very friendly, maybe you should consider buying an Android phone for her.
So for example the Motorola Droid? You'll have to unlock it though.
I think the Touch pro 2 is still the best decision, adding a nice theme to it would make it look good for your girlfriend.
Just for her
Buy the lovely one she most like.
Sometimes man likes, but woman doesn't like...
Maybe she likes a simple and fashion or cool cell phone.
So, you can ask her and give her the best one.
^..^
I'm looking to sell my HD2 soon and i am wondering what you all think of the said devices.
Reviews from other sites aren't good enough..
Pros//Cons of each?
Also, should i just wait a little longer and find out more about "Project Emerald"?
Thanks in advance.

That's the MT3G, not MT3G Slide.. just a heads up.
-mak
True
Well OP can change that on XDA database to compare
I'm thinkin i'll just wait for the slide to be in stores and go mess with it then. And hopefully by that time the N1 will be in corpo stores so i can mess with it more than i've been able to.
Having had both the HD2 & now the Slide, and having played extensively with the N1 (my best friend has one)... IMHO the Mytouch Slide is the best out of all of them, but depends on what you're looking for.
HD2:
Pros
-All-around AWESOME entertainment device
-The Screen is AMAZING
-The Snapdragon Processor is smoking
-I'm partial, and have been for a while, to Windows Mobile, and love 6.5 on this device.
-I live through my corporate email & calendar, and the exchange support is just phenomenal, of course.
Cons
-The battery life SUCKS. I can literally watch the battery drain.
-It's Windows Mobile.... As much as I love it, it is REALLY starting to show it's age. Can't wait for WM7 to come out.
-It's all touch, but Swype GREATLY helps.
Nexus 1:
Pros
-Awesomely designed phone
-ANDROID, and since it's Google's personal baby, it gets the upgrade goodness earlier than everyone else.
-With eclair and beyond, the corporate support just gets better and better.
-Also has snapdragon processor.
-Android Market
Cons
-The ONLY real con I can come up with is that it's all touch. Other than that, it's a TOP NOTCH android device.
-Natively only supports exchange sync of email & contacts.
MyTouch Slide 3g:
Pros
-Exact same size, if not a little thinner than original MyTouch 3G but:
-Full slide-out qwerty keyboard
-Upgraded processor, not snapdragon, not 528 MHz, but a different family of ARM processor altogether.
-Customized HTC Sense (Espresso) Interface
-Increased Screen Size (only .2", but noticeable)
-Full coporate exchange support (mail, contacts & calendar)
Cons
-Doesn't have Snapdragon
-Doesn't natively support Live Wallpapers (I love this feature of the Nexus 1, and can't wait until it's cracked to support them)
-The number keys are a LITTLE awkwardly placed, but you REALLY do get used to it.
All in all, all 3 phones have their pros and cons, but out of all of them, I would take the MT3G Slide. My friend got jealous as he saw the Espresso interface, and slide-out keyboard.
Is there a reason you're not including the Samsung Galaxy in that comparison? It's not out yet, but also not nearly far away as project emerald. Maybe. lol Seriously though, just wondering if you excluded it for a reason
If you're asking me for the exclusion purposes then no there isn't a reason. I know it is an awesome device with great capabilities but i like sense, or plain vanilla android. I've seen different hands on with the Galaxy and didn't like the Samsung's UI over android so it didn't really cross my mind. Also the N1 and the MT3GS are closer in release than the Galaxy. Project Emerald was just thrown in there. I doubt this device very much. Also i do like WM 6.5 on my HD2 but i'm finding that i have to soft and hard reset my device too many times for my personal taste. And the battery life is absolutely atrocious. I don't use all of the exchange or outlook things so that's no problem for me.
Thank you guys for your time.
EDIT: necorbin, how did you get a slide??
What do you guys think? I've had a Diamond before and now owning a Diamond 2 with most customisations and an own taskbar. I am looking for a device with a snapdragon processor and all that which I will keep for more than a year forward. I like watching movies, listen to music and customize my phone to the fullest - like icons, taskbar, user interface such as spb ms (how is it on hd2?).
Give me your thoughts and experiences with your HD2 and Desire!

I have both the desire and the hd2 and it makes me sad to use the hd2 anymore. Desire blows away hd2 in raw speed and performance compared to the hd2.
I haven't played with the Desire or even N1 yet, but I can say that I think your choice is going to boil down to the traditional android vs winmo question, rather than which piece of hardware. Both of those phones are close enough in specs that the deciding factor will inevitably come down to which os you're more comfortable with etc. Since you're already creating content for WM, you might want to stick with that, and HD2 is by far the best option in that category. However, I won't argue that android doesn't have some of the issues WM does, but I'm sure you're already familiar with all that.

You're right, and I love WM6.5/WM6.5.X for what it is, you can customize so much and really make it your own. I feel like on the Desire you're stuck with those 7 homescreens with some widgets but that's it. My choice is HD2, the 4,3 inch screen just does it for me.
I had HD2 for some time, sold it after 3 weeks of use. Hardware is awsome, Sense UI is awsome, WM sucks, makes phone slow after some use, but nothing drastical (snap dragon helps) but still somtimes that annoying brakes on scrolling pisses me alot, anyway, camera is awsome even @ night, very good dual led flash. after first days of usiong the HD2 it was very nice, (always is when its new) but after some days and some very common situation i actually found 4.3 screed too big for a phone to use on a go... really becomes very hard to use the phone one handed, in a car for exemple... i find it oversized in some cases. and what i hate more, 1100 battery on device, always dies in 1 and a half of a day of normal use. (sms, some calls and abit gps.)
But i still would prefer HD2 if it was with android, i think that WM is too slow in development and it become too old compared to droid OS. Droid is also (must be) not sure, but it must be mutch more stable then WM kuz its runs on linux kernel...
P.S: HD 2 is more for show off, than phone for everyday use in every situation. because of his 4.3 screen it becomes very eye catchy but not very handy for using. but anyway its pretty good for using in landscape two handed.
About multimedia in all terms HD2 wins on desire i think, never used Desire but heard about lack of video players. for droid, but sure it will be solved very very soon cuz of blazing speed of Droid growing.
Still I would prefer HD2 if it was Droid OS and screen size, (for multimedia, games, videos etc is the best!...) And now after selling HD2 im thinking about buying Desire, not sure yet :\ wait for some new phone or buy again HD2? :S the best would be hd2 desig, A BIT smaller screen, 1400 Battery, Droid OS. Another words INCREDIBLE is the goodie, optimal size and specs. Unfortinatly is only avaliable in US :S
If i could know about porting Droid on hd2 i would buy hd2 again and port droid to it.
Desire or HD2?
HD2 or Desire?
Pros and Cons: in comparison important for me.
HD2 - Desire
SCREEN: 4.3 Screen BUT LCD - 3.5 Screen BUT ALMOLED
BATTERY: 1100 mAh - 1400 mAh
OS: Windows Mobile(slower) - Android OS(fester)
CAMERA: 5mp 2 LED Flash - 5mp 1 Led Flash
Design: HD IMO is more sexy cuz of color and screen looks realy good, desire has common design and color sucks...
All the list is only IMO!
apparently watching video on the desire omled screen isnt great so it may not be a good choice for you if you like certain media.
I also hate that scrolling lag even on Desire and the newest Androids, but I will definitely organize my programs into folders like I have done since WM6.5 came out so that will probably help.
Some opinions I want to share, I had a HD2 and played with a Desire, as I put it on sale for my friend.
Desire is good, fun apps, customize home screens but that's it, for everyday use I still choose my HD2, because of its screen and functionality.
Browser in Desire is faster but not so smooth, lag in scrolling sometimes. Opera 10 is better, Opera 9.7 somehow u can tweak to make it scroll smooth. And the big screen won me over for browsing, and watching photos and movies as well.
As guy above save, Desire have no good video player, and u have to convert before watching, it takes hours. I dont have time for that.
Customize on the Desire is fun, but only for 1st time, it becomes boring quickly. To me, HD2 is still a "personal" phone than Desire.
1 important thing is MS Office pull me back. I still prefer to read, check, edit on a big screen.
Im not a "big" guy but the "big" screen of HD2 is no "big" for me, it's great to hold and use, even with 1 hand.
Desire still has it limitations, I think, but as u know about Winmo, it has no limitations out of the box, just some ugly in-deep interfaces.

Some opinions I want to share, I had a HD2 and played with a Desire, as I put it on sale for my friend.
Desire is good, fun apps, customize home screens but that's it, for everyday use I still choose my HD2, because of its screen and functionality.

Hmmm, about big screen and 1 handing I ment that for exemple for texting, can u reach every letter with 1 hand easily?! In personal I love big screens... but as i told, in some ways its too way big, anyway phone is still pretty packeble and feels very nice in hand.
i believe it's time to move on from wm because almost all wm development is only coming from xda devs and not from microsoft, unlike that android is being developed by our devs and google side by side, and it has a much steeper curve of development, also android versions are almost popping out every now and then and by the end of the year android 3 will most likely be available
you probably read and saw that 2.2 android is 2-5 times faster thatn the 2.1...now imagine the difference between the super fast 2.2 and upcoming versions of android
our wm (wm 6.1/6.5) will be abandoned since MS is focused on the WM7 which won't be compatible even with the hd2
android is a young OS,but only things that lack to completely wipe out WM are some specific apps, and time will solve that...other than that android as an OS beats wm as an OS
i'd take the desire right away

For your question, I can say I can type with 1 hand easily. Im used to it now.
Anyway, it depends on personal taste
If I go for android, definitely will be a 4.3' screen, I will not go any lower
Until the day Android can do all that Windows Mobile can currently do, should you only make the switch. Why make the switch to the OS based on things that that have yet to come, even if it is a certainty? You're using the phone now, aren't you? I find that too many people keep arguing for Android from the prospect of it will have this, it will have that soon, etc etc. It's all in the future. Until that point comes, get what is usable, practical and gets the job done.
By the time Android reaches the normality that is available in Windows Mobile, I doubt the OP will keep the same phone and probably would have changed already.
P.S. I text one-handed just fine and can reach all corners of the phone.

Nice said mate
The HD2 does not have a 1100 MAH battery, it's 1230. I love my HD2, I just feel so confuzzled right now with it whether to switch or not. I've been using WM since it was 6.0 [Elf days] and the HD2 is superb. My only complaint towards it is the battery cover. It looks hard to take off, I have yet to get mine off since I bought it Wednesday. I used Android on my Fuze and Tilt 2 and fell in love with it. But, I don't think I could use it on a daily basis for the rest of time with my phone. Very soon, the HD2 will have Android ported over to it and WP7 roms will defenitly come out for it. WM6.5 is just so customizable and I can change it to look like sense by using SPB. I would like a Hero, or a Magic just so I could play around with a native Android device, but could never use it as a main OS. In the future, if WP7 does not turn out to my liking, Android will be my next OS but until then Idk

u are right mate, its 1230 mAh... missed somthing. About porting, if it will happen some day, i would actually prefer to buy another HD2...
I think i need simply to play with Desire in my hand to see what i realy like, huge screen or nice os? :\
I have the HD2 and my girlfriend has the Desire. I really like the Desire and love the speed of android.
If you could give me Android on the HD2 then that would be perfect. Yes it's not quite as customizable as WM6.5 but you can change it to what you need.
If you are desperate for a device you can customise to within an inch of it's life you want WM but remember this is supposed to be a phone and not you whole world.
I'm sure there will be an Android device with a screen the size of the HD2, probably when we start getting better media players for it.
If you can hold on and let Android fill it's potential and have the device you want with Android on it then "make do" with the HD2 for now. It's not exactlly the worst phone in the world now is it.
Just my opinion and it's exactly what I am doing.
Cant wait for Android on an HD2

i did think of that, but even right now android feels more stable,so much more stable...i had a hero, asked people should i switch to rhodium...they said do it right away,so i did,not just because they said, but because i wanted to try out as much htcs too,...and i can say i did regret that, even with better hardware rhodium with top class cooked ROMs didn't impress me as much as hero did, which was on a stock 1.5...
i'm not saying that you should buy a phone just because it will one day, when it grows up be a good one,i'm saying that you could also take in account something that is soon to happen...
i'd get a desire, no doubt
and the thing you people are saying is already used so many times and it really isn't much true...everybody says android is a young os,still crappy, not many apps and so on,but let's look it this way
android is young and crappy
but WM is quite old and still as crappy as all hell
i'm not promoting android,i'm just telling you based on my experience....i'm a flash and performance junkie,so far i've had about 15 different htcs in my hands, and i flashed every single one of them, except the hero which was good enough even with a stock rom
HD2 - slower, more mature system, more app variety, more mature apps for navigation divx player ect. Stagnacy
Desire - faster, less mature system, less mature app variety (though a LOT of little-apps or good apps that are constantly updated to be great), high momentum
For these day I would say that phones are about equal. Maybe even a little plus for HD2. But it is changing fast for android and desire and it will be soon on the upper side.
I had similar problem until yesterday, when I went with desire, becouse I don't like changing phones too often and with at least 2 years in mind it will probably be a better phone.
Get the Desire, Root it, throw Android 2.2 on there then its game over
Unless you really need that extra inch of screen & horrible winmo
