Bad earpiece sound quality? - myTouch 4G General

I am very close to purchasing this phone but I am wondering about the reviews saying it has a bad earpiece sound to the point where it sounds distorted, aswell as the speaker. How is your all's experience with this?
I am choosing between a G2 and a MyTouch3g right now.

Just got off a call and it sounded fine to me. I chose the Mytouch because I realized that swype made the physical keyboard unneeded, just my two cents.

I think the earpiece sounds fine. The speakerphone is what sucks.

earpiece sounds better than my vibrant. I don't know if google voice has anything to do with that, though.

Earpiece sound quality - muffled?

I was just wondering if anyone else found their earpiece to have a muffled almost buzzy noise to it?
It is subtle, but compared to my previous MT4G, it is not nearly as clear or as loud. Sounds almost like the beginning of blown car speaker.
So far no, it sounds pretty good to me. Louder than the Galaxy S and perhaps a little clearer. Are you at 100% volume?
I am at full volume. The earpiece volume is a little low to me. I'm gonna go back to bb and see if they have a demo I can compare it to. I don't know if it's worth risking a return on, as everything else is perfect.

Had that same problem on my previous ns. The earpiece would rattle on highest volume during calls. It was an obvious defect but if you dont mind having calls at lower volume, keep it as getting a new ns could mean getting other defects.

Post here if you have speaker issues.

Being as some people already bought the phone at Costcos and AT&T's release is tomorrow, I wanted to start a thread for people having speaker issues.
If anyone has read my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949878 You will notice I and a few others who recently got an Inspire early have noticed very tinny call quality in the earpiece and speaker phone, and very low speaker volume on the rear external speaker to the point where you can bearly hear it ring or hear the notification tones.
So of anyone else is experiencing either of these, please post in here.
I have a report filed with our local HTC rep and she passed it up the chain. So we'll see if it goes anywhere.
just sounds weird when using pandora
Mine has excellent in-call volume, thru ear speaker. External speaker a little weak.
Boo boo speaker
Speaker is garbage. Phone speaker is phone, but the rear one sucks.
My n1 doesn't have very good speakers. Its not faulty though, just not very good. Ive heard its a problem with htc. Regarding the inspire, are we talking about defective or just poor quality?
So far its been ok. Call Quality has been good and loud enough but the speaker volume is weak compared to my iphone 4.
Very low ringtones and notifications, even with volume turned all the way up...
Does anyone know how the volume compares to the Aria? Because it's damn quite, especially if you ever set the phone down face-up, covering the back speaker...

Ill be trying a few things myself, hopefully not run into a boot loop in the process. hahaha
Anyone able to compare the earpiece volume to the Captivate and Aria? I thought Aria was way too low and Captivate is about right... don't want to switch to a phone with lower call volume.

The captivate is definately louder. Not as loud as an iPhone, but louder than the Inspire.
Also the captivate doesn't have that tinny sound like the Inspire does in the earpiece.
Well we sold out of Inspire's today, as did a a few other stores that I know of.
So far we have been getting good reviews of the phone in general, but many people are complaining of the low external speaker volume. I can see this is going to be a big issue with a lot of people.
I've had a few people comment on the tinny trebly sounding earpiece and speakerphone, but it appears that different people have various tolerences when it comes to sound pitch.
For people wanted to compare it to the Captivate, I would have the say the Captivate definately has better sound quality and the external speaker is a tad louder, but still not on par with the iPhone. So it just seems the Inspire although better in "almost" every way from the Captivate, is definately a step lower as far as the speakers.
I'll keep everyone informed when I hear some more back from our HTC rep. I'm hoping this can just be corrected with the software update.
this phone is AMAZING, but i agree with you choco,
the speaker is pretty much useless...its tinny, and the volume is too low. That being said,
the in ear speaker is one of the best i have used. It seems like the loud speaker, battery, and front facing camera is how HTC managed to keep this one at $100
Edit:
We nearly sold out of them as well today...people are responding very well to this phone, much better than they did with the captivate.
I bought it. I must say, I think its a little louder in call than the captivate. I think the external speaker is ok, so my feeling is that theres a production line issue here.
Speaker Issue
The speaker for notifications and ringtones is horrible. I can barely hear it when I get a call. Im thinking about returning it. Whats the point of a phone if you cant hear when someone is calling. (other than that it is a decent phone, I will test battery life tommorrow)

Either that or varying parts. My incall speaker sounds fine. The external speaker is....well just crap. Luckily, I don't use the phone's external speaker for much anyway.
Coming from a Captivate
I bought the phone yesterday, and well I haven't had extensive use of it yet both the external and the earpiece volume are fine to me...no problem with ringer volume.
I will agree that the sound is a bit tinny.
picked mine up yesterday and the rear speaker is a bit quite for notifications. the earpiece sounded a little tinny on the first call i made with it, but i'm thinking it might have been the fact that it was to a buddy of mine on a cm7 nightly and using speaker phone. i didn't notice the tinny sound on any of the subsequent phone calls, so either i got used to it and it doesn't bother me any more or it was his phone not mine
This thread should be rename to post here if u think the speaker level is too damn low. Its not a problem when all the phone are the same. Hopefully it is fixable with a software update.
Yeah speaker sucks I mean look at it... they didn't even try

[Q] G2X Audio Speakers?

I was just told by a T-Mobile rep that the two audio speakers on the bottom of the G2X are NOT supposed to work simultaneously.
For some reason, I noticed the other day while watching a movie, that there was only sound coming out of one of the speakers on the bottom of the phone. I've noticed the same for all audio (mp3, streaming, etc).
Is it true that only ONE of the speakers is supposed to play audio?
If so, why would they put two speakers on the bottom of the handset?
The other one is the mic.

As a side note, I find the speaker (s?) on this phone sucks. It makes "speakerphone" almost unusable. I guess LG ran out of physical space for a decent speaker. They did pack a lot in...

Are you on CM7? I noticed that my audio overall is lower on CM7 than it was on stock.
G2X CM7
I'm on stock 2.2.2. It gets loud enough, but I believe it is bacause the speaker (piezo?) is tiny. My last phone was at razr w490, and it had a speaker on the back easily 4x bigger and sounded way better.

Voice call quality

Hi guys, so far love the phone, came from a GSII.
My concern is that people are complaining that the voice quality on the call recipient's end is robotic and muddy sounding. They often complain that they can barely hear me or make out what i am saying. I am not calling them from a noisey environment, it is from a quiet room.
Anyone else??
after 174 views, no one can confirm or deny the same issue? Can anyone please comment on call quality?
Nobody's mentioned it to me yet, and I've made quite a few calls. I'd use the land line and call myself, but that's one of those psychological things where I'd be biased that my own voice either A) sounds like **** or B)sounds perfectly normal.
No issues here, I've only made a handful of calls but so far no one has complained.

Some more people commented/complained today saying it sounds like my mouth is directly on the microphone and thus makes my voice sound unclear. never had this complaint with my gsII
No complaints here I think the quality's really good

I received my replacement one s due to call quality issues and the new one is even worse. everyone says i sound like im in a tin can as my voice is SUPER muffled. they can hear when i start and stop talking but the words just arent sharp enough to hear anything. wtf is going on with this phone?
I'm actually experiencing this with mine on Telus. It's especially noticable when it's on speakerphone. Never had any issues with my previous phones, but with this one I have to repeat myself a whole lot.
No issues on Tmob us.
I have issues sometimes hearing the caller on the end - the audio is distorted and robotic even when I have full bars. Did not have any issues on my old phone.
If I turn down the volume it helps with the distortion so it definitely seems to be from the device itself.
Are you using a case? I had a few complaints when I was using D3 case. Mic was so deep in little hole in case. Since I have switched to a Cruzerlite case( best and slimmest One S case of all!) all is well and have had zero complaints.

Case or no case, makes no difference. It's quite infuriating. I'm on my second phone and it exhibits the same problems.
My fiancee just got this phone a few days ago and I've noticed her voice sounds scratchy and robotic when I talk to her. Her previous 3 phones never did this. Sometimes her One-S even drops the call when she has 2 and 3 bars of signal which is really odd. We are taking the phone back Monday to see if we can either exchange it for another one or get another phone.
I thought I read somewhere that this phone uses some new technology that reduces background noise and I'm wondering if perhaps the sound quality is a software issue.
I have the same issue, but only if i am holding the phone on my left ear with my shoulder. No issues on right side.
The only issue I have is the voice on the other end is more quiet and I have to ask to repeat (even though the volume is turned up high to hear the other party).

I've had this issue with most of the T-Mobile phones(G1,HD2,MT3GS,MT4G,MT4GS,One S) I have had. I always assumed that it was an issue with the network.
My issue is when I squeeze the phone between my cheek and shoulder, people cant even understand me. I've never had an issue like this with another phone.
Noise while calling
Are you on Wifi only calling mode? It can happen when the Wifi speed is low!
How about the EU radio? Anyone on tmous using that and still having probs?

att htc one x voice problem

Hello all I have a problem. no matter who I call Im told my voice sounds muffled. This is a stock phone. nothing changed. I did a hard reset but still have problem. Any suggestion?

I don' t have a cover.
Yeap, same thing here...
Arent other people facing this issue?
Even a lot of online reviews mentioned this. But i never thought the mic quality is going to be this troublesome.
I tried calling myself on an Atrix/Galaxy S/Galaxy note
I myself find the microphone quality quite cheap. It picks up the slightest of nicks and bumps but its definitely too muddy for the other persons comfort!!
The call volumes were very low on my G2 and Sensation in the past. They fixed that but messed up the microphone quality!
Seriously disappointing. Not buying a HTC device ever again!
btw. Not using a case or anything.
