Hello everyone!
Due to the fact that my Magician has sadly bit the dust, I have to make my choice now: HTC HD2 vs. Acer NeoTouch vs. Motorola Milestone (Droid).
The most important advantage of the HTC is definitely...you...the XDA devs As long as I know that specialists developing on OS (WM/Android) i can be sure that my device will not be that old fashioned in the next few years and its worth buying.
An important question for me is: can i take it that there will be improvements with the neotouch in the near future? WM Roms, perhaps a ported android 2.0 rom and so on...certainly i know that the devs are specialized on HTC devices, i´m just aksing because the neotouch has nearly the same specs like the HD2...
I would be really thankful for your opinions...
Well mate want a quick answer...id say youl have to wait and see, first android requires a linux kernel inorder to run, this kernel is somewhat started already for our qsd8250 cpus but were missing haret support, withough haret its almost imposible to run a linux kernel on our winmo devices, that been said, custom roms are already been cooked by hdubli heres a link to hes video, this means well have custom roms in a a matter of days, maybe less, and finally snapdragon based devices will most likely have windows mobile 7 beta roms since windows mobile 7 will be on wince 7.0 kernel which the snapdragon already supports, and bro trust me the acer neotouch is worth every single dollar, i mean you have to have in your hands to understand how fast and beatifull the devices is, its just unreal, the build quality is perfect, the screen looks gourgeous, n other words if your planing on upgrading to a new device and dont have 800-1000$ to spend on a htc leo, spend 500$ for the acer neotouch you wont regret it trust me.
Hope this helps you in your quest of getting a new device =]

Hi,
I am looking into buying an android device, running 2.1 and not with the high price of nexus one, and it seemed to me i have no choice.
So, I was wondering buying a WM device and dual booting could also be cool.
But what device is good for this job.
ie. the device developers are mostly active on it, has 3d enabled and....
thanks

raphael, diamond, topaz, rhodium are not too expensive and all have decent linux support.
Along with those mentioned above, I would include the Vogue. It was the first to have a fully functional android port, and still is better that topaz and rhodium(not sure about the diamond)
WOW - This tablet is just perfect and can be bought for a very reasonable price online at Tesco's/HMV/Play/Amazon or Staples (where I got mine for £329.99 - BARGAIN!
It runs Anrdoid 2.2, is made by Foxconn (build quality is excellent!) and IMHO is the best Android device money can by for overall size/usability.
Any plans to open a dedicated forum? Any devs out there able to port Flash or Flashlite from the HTC Legend - I think this device uses the same chipset (MSM7227).
Gotta say, Angry Birds is just right on this screen - the iPad is just too large and cumbersome... At the pricepoint this is currently at, you cant afford to miss it.
I tend to agree with you. I got mine from Tesco for £299. I would also like like to know if there is a hack/app for Flash 10? I am very happy with my N700 in my opinion the best one I've had out of 4 tablets off ebay.
Sent from my Commtiva-N700 using XDA App
Just wondering where I can get one in the U.S.
Hey guys
I'm from outside the US and looking for a nice tablet for under $200 (yay 3rd-world-country currency restrictions ). Now, I've had an old HTC Magic, then a Motorola Defy and now a ZTE V970M. They're all great phones, with lots of development and nice features, and I'm looking for a tablet that I can get from Amazon with the same or similar features.
Basically, I'm looking for this:
A tablet that is small (7" is enough, I wouldn't mind 10" though) with a capacitive screen (or responsive enough, anyways) with some development other than the stock ROM and Android 4.0+, since I love to make ROMs for android devices. Also, I'm planning to use it to connect it to HDMI TVs, so an HDMI output would be a big bonus. I would also try to use it as a laptop so allowing connectivity to any of those case-with-keyboard things (through bluetooth or USB) is a need. I don't care much for battery life, as long as it can be rooted I can work my way around to make it save battery like hell
Here are the options I've looked at:
Around 180$ & 168$ respectively: Galaxy Tab 2 ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-1 ) and Galaxy Tab Plus ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...f=sr_1_19?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-19 ) but they don't have HDMI output, not even with an external converter, I was wondering if that's true?
119$: The Coby MID7065-8 ( http://www.amazon.com/Coby-7-Inch-A...ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-4 ) looks good but... it's Coby :/ and also, it doesn't seem to have a CyanogenMod-compatible CPU, and I don't wanna be locked to ICS forever.
165$: The Acer Iconia looks *awesome* ( http://www.amazon.com/Acer-A500-10S...f=sr_1_22?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-22 ) but it's Android 3.0, is it a good buy if I can upgrade it to CM 10 or a stock 4.0-4.1-4.2 ?
174$: This Galaxy Tab SCH-i800 looks weird, is it any good? ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...f=sr_1_50?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472705&sr=1-50 )
104$!!!: This SANEI looks awesome too ( http://www.amazon.com/Android-Scree...f=sr_1_71?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472813&sr=1-71 ) but I wonder if I can upgrade it to more than ICS/JB ? it has a Cortex A9 and I've heard there's some compatible CM around for Cortex chips, so would it be a good buy?
$199: The Kindle Fire HD seems like a good $199 option ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1555100222&pf_rd_i=507846 ) BUUUUUT... it's a reader, and I've had experiences with the B&N Nook Simple Touch that I don't wanna repeat, such as having a very locked firmware and not having all of the working features if I upgrade to CM or something similar :/
Any tips guys? I really need the advice, as I need to make a choice by tomorrow maximum
Thanks in advance!

Yeah but the Nexus 7 is from swappa actually I have to remove that option XD since it doesn't fit my tight time requirements
What about the iconia A500 though? I've seen it has better screen resolution, Tegra 2 and such, plus JB 4.2 judging by the subforum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136
Acer does make good products and I guess for your needs it would work

Hello.
I want to upgrade to a new android device.I still use my HTC M9 but its getting slow.
I want something in the price range and specs of the K20/K20Pro.
I'm looking for a device that has a rugged/waterproof case available as an accessory.
