Rooted HD2 or Mytouch Slide - General Topics

What phone is better overall? A rooted HD2 with the best Sense UI rom (or froyo)
Or a Stock Mytouch slide? (Even a rooted mytouch slide for that matter, because I'll probably end up doing it anyway) Thanks in advance.

I would choose the HD2 just for the fact that I run WM and Android on it plus I like the huge screen!

Had a slide and traded for a hd2 and haven't looked back since the speed on android is amazing the slide is a dead phone get the hd2

HTC Hero or Google G1 ??

What is the differend between Hero and G1 in system
do they use the same rom version ??
what will you pick up from those 2 phones ?
g1 is also htc not google got real keyboard
hero got capative glass screen and newer htc rom
If I were you I would go for G1 because it has a hardware keyboard which is a must for me
go for the hero unless u really need the hardware keyboard, its got more memory, and the sense ui is a must have
why between those 2 phones? i would get the nexus one but out of those two i would pick the hero because of the sense ui
definitely hero...no comparison at all....
While the Hero offers the benefits of more RAM and storage, keep in mind that there are many Hero ROMs that run flawlessly on the G1, so you can still get all the benefits of Sense and the Hero onscreen keyboard while still having the G1's awesome physical keyboard.
but is it possible to use Windows Live Messenger on Android ?
i dont like thirtparty messenger applications,
and is it possible to read @live.com e-mails from htc hero ?

[Q] HD2 or Desire HD?

Hey,
I'd like to buy a new device soon but I'd like to keep the price as low as possible.
So I actually wanted to buy the Desire HD (600€).
But then I noticed that some devs got the Desire HD ROM working on the HD2.
So the HD2 is available for around 350€ here.
What would you say?
Can the HD2 provide the same quality and is the Desire HD ROM running nearly as good as on the native Desire HD?
Thanks in advance,
Florian
I have a HD2 and a HTC Desire and my advice would be, if Android is your weapon of choice for an operating system, go with an android device.
I've tried a number of Android Roms on my HD2 and although they are great, they are still in development and battery life is an issue with the Rom having to be run off the SD card.
Have you considered a HTC Desire?
I've noticed the screen sizes of your mentioned devices. So have you also looked at other phones with big screens such as evo 4g, captivate, vibrant and epic 4g?

The hd2 boots the desire and the desire hd roms so for the price id say the hd2 you get the best of every thing hands down
with new wm roms built to run android battery life is no longer an issue
A HD2 doesn't run the Desire ROM as good as the Desire and does not yet match it closely for battery life. However I'll add that i'm running a stock WM ROM on my HD2.
If you want Android working out of the box then get an android device. Just be aware the HD2 may require tweaking to death to get it to work well and not everbody is prepared for that.
My reason for suggesting the Desire is the price as i think it is coming down in price alot now and is a very good buy.
All my opinion of course
I was also in this dilemma for a while, and I wanted so much to try android, and the same time keep it on the safe side with a windows mobile, so i got 2 days ago the HTC HD2, put Dutty ROM, and i am trying a few android roms, and for now, i like it very much.
Android on HD2 is not perfect yet, but it is going in this direction, but it is very usable, need just to find the correct edition to use...
I would say Desire HD. Has the 2nd Gen 1 ghz snapdragon CPU, an updated GPU, and 769 MB of RAM. Also it now has permanent root.

[Q] trading mytouch 3g slide for htc hd2

is it worth trading mytouch 3g slide for htc hd2 beecause it has better specs?
i can install android on hd2 and have better performane.
it has a higher quadrant score than mytouch 3g slide
in my opinion id say yes i just upgraded from a mytouch 1.2 to an atrix and yes better specs and harware is alot to me. plus adding android to it would make it better and it has a big screen. beeing able to boot into two different os's is kind of like having two phones in one (or one, seeing that if you put android on it you would never boot in to windows unlesss on accident haha). hope this helped.
definitely. the hd2 has one of the biggest communities on xda (which is why theres a lot of development on it; other than windows mobile, it can also run android, ubuntu, and meego)

G1 or TP2?

Im thinking about buying a unlocked Touch Pro 2,I currently own a G1 and love it but want something slightly newer (on a tight budget if not would of gone for the G2 or HD7 )
My questions are
1. Is the TP2 a significant upgrade over a G1 one of the things i love about the g1 is rooting/hacking Custom Roms/Custom Recoverys/No Locked Bootloaders etc.
2. Can the tp2 run Android as well as the G1 can or if not better?
3.Is the Touch Pro 2 Root/Hack friendly?

I'd save your money for either the G2 or the HD7. Having just moved from a TP2 to an Atrix, I may be a bit biased because I was ready to get the hell away from that phone Running Android on the TP2, in my experience, is nothing close to a device that ships with Android. It eats battery (faster than normal at least) and I'm not sure you'll even see any performance gains over your G1 since it looks like you've been using custom ROMs.
i do not recomend either one, i have had tp2 and struggled using winmo 6, that OS sucks, and when you run any android build on the tp2 will never be the same.. can be rlly unstable and buggy, in other words unreliable...........
if you like to carry a block that weighs as much as rock get the tp2 and be miserable
as far as the g1 is a good option if you are on a low budget and want something for the simple non-heavy smartphone user, it does most of the tricks
but if you want to be updated and have a great experience get the: G2, Dell streak, Samsung Galaxy, Nexus One, or Samsung galaxy tab.
I stuck with G1s for awhile until recently buying an HD2 and trading through high end phones until I ended up with a G2. I must say buying the HD2 was the best move I ever made. You can pick them up fairly cheap and on custom roms windows mobile is pretty useable. Naturally I went to android since you can now completely remove windows mobile and boot straight to android. I found there is a great selection of roms from 2.2 with sense, 2.2, 2.3, I think Honeycomb is already on the HD2, etc. I'd say if it's in your budget get an HD2, it's an awesome and very capable phone.
anyone know how much a used locked g2 goes for?
Save money for a cooler handset, or if you are in hurry the G1 is better, I think.

[Q] Non Contract upgrade phone

I am looking to upgrade my Tmobile myTouch 3g Slide. I am not due for a contract upgrade till next year. I was looking at the HD2, myTouch 4G, and the Vibrant. I am wanting to run a gingerbread sense rom on it like the salsa port I am running on my slide. Problem with the slide is no room for user apps when running a sense rom.
So my question is, what of those options gives me the most of what I want. Large user app space, fast processor, and a gingerbread sense rom.
Thanks for your help.
Bump. Anyone got an opinion? I don't think there is a sense rom for the vibrant which sucks. it has the most user storage. Guess that means the mt4g or hd2. What do you all think?
