What is the differend between Hero and G1 in system
do they use the same rom version ??
what will you pick up from those 2 phones ?
g1 is also htc not google got real keyboard
hero got capative glass screen and newer htc rom
If I were you I would go for G1 because it has a hardware keyboard which is a must for me
go for the hero unless u really need the hardware keyboard, its got more memory, and the sense ui is a must have
why between those 2 phones? i would get the nexus one but out of those two i would pick the hero because of the sense ui
definitely hero...no comparison at all....
While the Hero offers the benefits of more RAM and storage, keep in mind that there are many Hero ROMs that run flawlessly on the G1, so you can still get all the benefits of Sense and the Hero onscreen keyboard while still having the G1's awesome physical keyboard.
but is it possible to use Windows Live Messenger on Android ?
i dont like thirtparty messenger applications,
and is it possible to read @live.com e-mails from htc hero ?

I havnt purchased my HTC Pure yet but I do plan on getting one. In the meantime I was curious.
Is it possible to load the HTC Sense UI from the HTC HD2 and load it on the ATT Pure?
The HTC Sense UI im talking about is the one found in this youtube vid I found on Endgadget
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/08/htc-hd2-gets-itself-a-promo-video-and-a-website/#continued
You would need to flash this ROM
So would that particular rom be possible on the ATT Pure? Or would hardware differences prevent it from running like its being ran on the HD2
You should be able to flash it no problem but since the Hardware Keyboard on the Pure is different from all variants of the Diamond2 then you would have to find a cab or registry tweak to change keyboard layout.
Edit: The ROM is built for Diamond2 even though it's using packages from the HD2
Pure has no hardware keyboard
The pure doesn't have a hardware keyboard, and yes, there are numerous ROMs cooked by chiefs already that have the sense UI found in the HTC Leo (aka HD2). You just have to pick one and flash away
lol what was I thinking, yes at the time of my last posting I was thinking so much of the Tilt2 as I had just placed an order for it.

Yea, I have the Pure, but debating about returning it for the Tilt 2, if only for the larger screen space. But the camera on the Pure is really good compared to the Tilt 2 (5 MP vs. 3.2 MP). Oh, what to do????
it all bottoms down to whether you want a keyboard or not. if you have a phone i'm guessing you have a digital camera so you probably won't be using said phone to take studio quality photos, just quick snaps here and there. and the .4 inches in the screen also won't make a big deal. if you can type pretty well on the pure and what to save some money stick with the pure. if you are a person who prefers a physical keyboard and the price doesn't matter to you get the tilt 2.
Maybe this phone exists somewhere but if so, I haven't found it - and not for lack of searching. It all started with a 2007 Shadow. I loved the slim size and slide-out form factor, could live with WinMo if I had to but hated the 2.0 mp camera and non-touch screen.
I've tried the Incite, the Kaiser and currently use a G1 for day to day but none of them made me as happy as my Shadow. Part of it's because if I need to make a call I don't like the touch screen dialer. Another factor is the Blackberry-like keyboard arrangement on the Shadow - I really liked it. (I could never master texting using the usual numeric keys.) It's too cumbersome to pop out the G1 or Tilt keyboard, especially dealing with stupid automated phone systems.
I like HTC phones a lot because of the community but am beginning to wonder if somewhere out there is a phone better suited for me. I'd like to stay in the Android fold but does anyone have any suggestions? Has to be GSM and unlockable because I use a weird local carrier, too, although I might consider going back to Sprint (gag) for the perfect phone.

The Palm Pre might suit you...although there is always more to get out your device when you are running WinMo or Android on an HTC device. WebOS is fantastic but you're stuck with what they give you.

I played with a Pre at a local kiosk and was impressed by how nice it was but not enough better than the G1 to go back to Sprint. Now if the GSM version becomes more affordable and available, maybe...
Thanks,
Terry - now if I could just do a camera transplant on a touch dual
It would be something like this:
VGA 4" screen
From factor like HTC Universal
2ghz processor
1gb RAM
Hardware keyboard
Slim nice design
Made by HTC
A mix of Universal, Rhodium and Leo
I guess I have to wait till 2011 or 2012...
I remember reading that android was working quite well on the HTC Nike a while back. That's the same slide format as the shadow.

It is so very close, but I'm spoiled by the ability to do bar code scanning with the G1. AFAIK, the 2.0 cameras can't do that - which is why I made the comment about the camera transplant. I guess I could look into the port a little closer to see if they made it work or not.

So seeing the news for the Supersonic, it looks like it will be almost identicle in terms of hardware to the HD2, so do you guys recon if we got a dump of the install it could be used on the hd2? or put wm6.5 on the supersonic?
has anything like this happened before, i.e. two devices almost identicle having different os?
I have a HD1 at the moment and have been toying with the idea of getting a android device but I don't want to get one and later decide I prefer WM.
I'm an AT&T subscriber and i've been waiting on the Nexus one or compatible device.
I really don't know which is better between the nexus and the desire, but I know I do like the Physical buttons and the optical trackpad on the desire. I'm just not sure I want the Sense UI over Android.
Does the Sense UI still allow animated backgrounds and have all the features that vanilla Android has?
My main concern is the fact that it seems to take manufacturers with UI over Android a while to upgrade to the latest Version of Android.
So what do you guys think the best choice will be? And how hard will it be to remove Sense off the Desire and make it Vanilla Anroid? Will it then get the OTA updates just like the NExus One?

Yes someone can make a stock android 2.1 rom for the desire. HTC SENSE UI has everything that stock android has except (correct me if I'm wrong) the new launcher.
In every htc sense device you can just turn off sense and just use stock android so no problem there.
The device won't get major updates from google (like OS upgrades) but it might get minor updates (like 3G fixes, bug fixes, newer flash)
Just so that you know Sense UI is android except with a skin, like sense on the hd2.
I would get the Desire (you get both stock and sense ui, the desire has more RAM then the nexus one, the desire looks much better and sleeker.)
Agreed. Couple points:
1. I own a Nexus. It's very good. I'm a WinMo guy and it was good enough to convert me to a phone with no keyboard.
2. I'ld get the desire. Its almost like a 2nd gen N1. Takes away most common faults: bad network coverage, problems with capacitive buttons, vanilla interface.
3. Furthermore, Sense is great. Coming from an HTC WinMo phone I reeeaeaally missed Sense. Android clocks look cheesy while sense looks classy. There is now a dedicated phone button on the screen. My number one complaint was I hate the way iphones find contacts to call them. It's like 4 clicks and a ton of scrolling. Android is like that. But with Sense on, Sense dialer is a smart dialer. Just start typing their name on dialpad (dad = 323) and it quickly finds the number.
4. Although sense can be turned off, its not "just" a launcher. Its also a dialer, a contact app, an entire new homescreen with 7 screens and specialized htc widgets preprogrammed into them, with saveable custom homescreens called "scenes." New weather app, new app drawer with no 3d effects. Also, Sense ("Rosie") is said by Rom chiefs to be built deep into the "framework" of Android, which is why they sadly havent just ported the apps to stock yet.
thanks guys, Looks like the Desire is the best choice then... Now I just hope that it really comes to AT&T. And SOON!!!
i wonder if at&t will screw up the desire like they did with the backflop?
Brickflop, you mean. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Desire gets the same treatment.
Hello everyone;
hope you keeping well, I have HTC Touch Pro in mean time and I wanna replace it, so with what I should replace it, HD7 or Hd2 or HTC Touch Pro2 ? Please help me decide one and why?
Thanks in advanced
You really want WP7 without basic features? For example: No SD Card support, no copy and paste, no default browser selection, no multitasking.
WM6.5 is not supported by Microsoft, so there willn't be any new updates.
Think about alternative platforms Android, Bada OS.
But if you really want Windows, I'd choose HD2.
First of all are you a tmobile customer? Most likely I'd say. But give some more options to choose from. Hd2 and touch pro 2 are both outdated already. Even though hd 7 looks pretty tempting but nah windows phone 7 is still a pretty weak platform. Consider buy a g2 or my touch 4g or vibrant 4g instead. But here of you decide the vibrant make sure it's vibrant 4g not the original one ok?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
out of those two id choose the hd7..its much more current hardware wise and it has the newer version of the windows mobile os...also in response to AdmcPL, those features arent available now but they will be released in a major update due out this spring, and even more features will be out in another update later this year
Why not go with the HTC Desire HD?
It's basically the same phone as the HD2, but comes with FroYo
I'd say HD7 is good , but not good enough .. wait and get something like dual core with better screen .. because soon HD2 & HD7 will be last gen. smartphones.
good luck anyway
If you have only these 3 options I'd go for the HD2 without any hesitation (I had one before my Z and had a Touch Pro before that one). You'll be able to flash all kinds of ROMS and install almost every OS on it (Android, WP7 etc.). There's a lot of support for this device.
Touch Pro2: only if you want to keep both a hard keyboard and WM. Otherwise forget it. Too old as already said by a previous poster.
HD7: I really don't like WP7. It looks so boring and ugly. Will there be as much applications and development as for Android or WM? I don't think so but that's just my opinion.
On the other way if you are not against other options I'd suggest you to buy an Android device like the Desire Z or HD as Android is really the best OS. You could install it on the HD2 but IMO the physical buttons are not appropriate and make the user experience less pleasant than with the soft keys on Android devices. I noticed immediately the difference when I switched from my HD2/Android to my Desire Z.
Hope it'll be helpful

I doubt that there is any difference in hardware between HD7 and HD2 except for the kickstand in HD7.
But if anybody would ask me I will tell then to get HD2.
It can run WM6.5, Android and WP7 as good as any other phone.
@all thank u so much guys seriously I'm so greatful , and yes I will go and buy the HD2 today. I'll give my touch pro away I really liked the keyboard on it, guess ill buy external keyboard for the HD2 and for andorid I don't know didn't really use it that much but ill give it a shoot on my next HD2 hehe ... Thank you so so much
