This is my first thread so here goes nothing. FFC what's the big deal anyways. They serve absolutely no purpose. I mean seriously think about it when on gods green earth are you gonna be just sitting around doing nothing and have time to video talk. Think about it logically can't do it while driving, can't do it while walking around the mall or doing your house and work duties. So when? It annoys me whn people are like " No FFC. Fail" really is it that important that some of these new hot phones don't have it that its gonna fail. Seriously he. People that have phones with this lovely feature how often do you use it? I bet no where as much as you would like to think. They are as about as purposeful as a dog with dog clothes looks like it does something but really just pisses your dog off, it has damn fur, its a phone made to send and receive calls and well email and the such but you get the idea. Please by all means give me a good reason for such a feature. Till then FFC= gimmick. Tell what you think and why?

So I went into Best Buy yesterday and wanted to see if they had a G2 to play with. I've noticed that there cell phone sales presence has become much more prevalent lately, but I hadn't dealt with any of the salesmen at this point.
I'll say as a side note, that the salespeople at T-Mobile stores have generally been helpful and informative. Unfortunately, few in my area have a live G2.
Within seconds of getting over to the counter, strong cologne alerted me to the presence of the salesman before the **** eating grin.
I asked if he had a live G2 or a Vibrant, and he had neither. I mentioned that I had done a lot of research and mostly wanted a little more face time with each phone prior to buying. I brought up Android 2.2 as a major consideration for me and the salesman very quickly told me "Oh, you didn't hear? Froyo is out now for the Vibrant. My phone downloaded it this morning (10/15)."
"Really? You have Froyo on your Vibrant? As of this morning?" I asked.
"Yup, I got the update this morning, it's awesome."
At this point, his cohort had come by. The competing fogs of Aqua di Gio and Hollister California were starting to make my eyes water. I can only assume the second monkey's fake sky blue contact lenses were there to protect his eyes from the flammable air.
"So I overheard you asking about Froyo on the Vibrant? He just got it on his phone this morning. It really screams on the Vibrant's dual core CPU." said monkey number two.
"Well," I said, "would you mind if I took a look at your phone then? See how Android is?"
"Sure, go for it!" said monkey number one.
Opened the browser, went to streetfire.net, and pulled up a Top Gear video, something that I know works on the G2 and displays the little Flash alert pane on the Vibrant. Shockingly, the video didn't play.
"So how's the battery holding up for you?" I asked.
"Oh, it's awesome. I haven't charged it for a day and a half and it's still at 35%. An that's with people playing with it at the store all day long."
"Wow, that's pretty amazing. I think I'll sleep on it, but maybe I'll be by tomorrow" (at this point I hadn't heard about the Froyo push in Norway and wanted to learn more)
"Cool, can I give you a call tomorrow to follow up?"
"Sure" (I proceeded to give him my @home number so he could sit there and leave voicemails all day if he wanted)
I really enjoyed how the two of them could just stand there lying their asses off after I told them I had done a significant amount of research already.
Anyway, enjoy; I found it amusing.
Yeah, that's corporate business for ya. People will do whatever they have to just to make a sale. Well, most people at least. But I agree, it's hilarious! For two reasons:
1.) Dual core? Really?! That isn't on any smart phone yet.
2.) For someone to boldly lie to their customers face is just ridiculous and shows ya that their are actually people out there that buy this crap.
I mean, would you constantly lie to people if you knew that your lies wouldn't be believed? I wouldn't. So that goes to show you how gullible some people are and how much they actually need to you the great searching tools that the internet has given us.
They probably went from alphabetizing dvd's to selling phones in a week.
I hope you made no mention of xda. For our sakes.

Apple should change their company slogan to "Apple, powered by ignorance". People buy iphone's and blackberry's, because they are iphone's and blackberry's. " I work in an office, I need a blackberry". Blackberry's and iphone's are so underpowered and restricted, it's a joke. Seriously, if ignorance was some how wiped out, apple and blackberry's stock would plummet. It's crazy, its like people are brainwashed. They love their iphone, they dont why, they just do. I think it makes them feel cool. Why else would people continue to buy a malfunctioning problematic pieces of crap. My ex had nothing but problems with her iphone 3g and then nothing but problems with her iphone 3Gs and what did she do? she ran out and bought the iphone 4 and guess what? nothing but problems! Who would have guessed it? She cant even go 5 minutes without accidently muting the phone call with her face! And even if she gets passed that it doesnt matter because the phone drops everyother call and god forbid it the phone dies!!! It'll take 30 minutes of charging before it can power on!
I was depositing checks from my scanner for over 3 years and from my phone for over year now... USAA rocks.
I was so happy with my G2x, not only did I invest in a hundred dollar battery, screen protector, headphones etc. and just updated to ginger bread, I was so enthusiastic to go out and play with my gadget, then bam! While looking at the screen under the sunlight, there our was, starting me in the face, a tiny white speck of dust under the screen! Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhh! FML.
I'm at church now....more important things in life...God please give me peace.

Well I had my phone stolen last night gutted to say the least. I used PlanB to track it down, but it went straight to the mafia district here in Vietnam! Trust me that's a place you don't want to be going at night, so I let it go!
Sadly the police here are a waste of time too, so that's bye-bye phone!
Luckily I guess there was nothing on the phone that I can't replace aside from my sms\txt messages but I can live without that. Everything else is backed up bar one or two recent photos. I hadn't even rooted it yet.
So I'm gonna be buying a new phone at the end of the month and now the dilemma is to replace with another sensation or look at the alternatives. EVO3D, maybe look at the galaxy but I'm not a real fan of Samsung, but it's a viable option.
Or see what else is coming REAL soon.
oh well some shopping to do I guess.

as for getting a new phone, i recommend another sensation, as the prices have dropped just a bit...or get a janky POS phone to hold you of till nov/dec when the hercules or holiday come out

How exactly did it get stolen? Just curious...
Picked my pocket by two very cute girls who did a great distraction job on me, they walked into me and dropped some stuff. I stopped helped them pick it up and when I turned round I noticed a distinct lack of weight where phone had been. Realised what had happened immediately turned round to confront them only to see them climbing on a motorbike being ridden by another accomplice and take off sharpish!
Could've been worse just found out my CEO father in-law had his iphone snatched from his hand last evening as he was on the phone leaning against a wall. Two guys rode up, one jumped off pushed him and harrased him to grab the phone and rode off sharpish. Luckily he's not hurt.
PS the idea of taking a gun into mafia district is highly appealing, but just not worth it in the end. Outnumbered to say the least and as a westerner living here I'd be picked up within hours.
Friend of mine who's been here longer than me has lost 8 phones in 4years!
PPS ahhh 420... at the 420 in 'dam I miss them days...
I guess it would make sense to make all calls via a BT headset and keep the phone taped to your crotch or something.

I heard vietnam is not a save country. Even for tourism. Their goverment should do something especially at the mafia area. We live in a melenium year, not 40s or 60s anymore!!
Sorry to hear what happen to you. And as for new phone, I think you definately not to use expensive phone over there. Better use plain old chip phone in such danger and high crime area.

That's just corny in this day and age.
TBH crime here isn't that bad and certainly no worse than London or other major cities I've been too. Majority of the time I feel pretty safe and as long as your aware of what's going on it's no biggie.
I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got suckered by some fluttering eyes
but bonus time i bought the phone on my credit card (well paid off now) but means it's insured I had two days before it was out !!
This is kinda random and weird but I don't care.
I was about to smash my phone (the sidekick, of course) into a wall multiple times before throwing it off the top of the empire state building and burning the pieces I could find, and then blowing up samsung for being annoying to no end.
I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have been working hard at Sidekick 4G development. I didn't end up doing the above because a)I wouldn't have a phone after that, and b)If I don't have enough money to pay for a lawyer after the last part, then I most definitely don't have enough money to pay for a new phone. So I just said "oh well, gotta make the best of it". Obviously that's way easier said than done, but with the help of you guys my phone coolness rate (and patients) went from -50 to about 5,000,000,000,000,000,000.
I'm not sure if I can tag people or whatever in a thread, but whoever is a part of the dev in any way, thank you very much. If I won the lottery, I would give you guys half the money. I would probably also buy a new phone, but that's besides the point. It sounds like this phone is frustrating at (a lot) of times, to say the least, but you guys keep working and it is highly appreciated. Without you I would have no phone, and would probably be in jail for the rest of my life.

P.S. Some things in this thread were a little bit dramatized. Although I am almost sure a lot of you have had the same disturbing thoughts, I just wanna say that I am in no way responsible if anyone gets any ideas and goes crazy blowing crap up.
