Google voice update sucks! - Android Apps and Games

Does anyone have an older apk? The newer version is soooo slow! Almost unusable.
sent from my EVO wishing it was an iPhone 4

Just go to the app in your menu> settings> applications then find google voice, then uninstall updates...back to original version.
swyped on my EVO!

google buzz on android 1.6

Download Google Buzz 1.0
just had to download the apk. installed, seems like everything works except GPS.
this is on AOSP 1.6 w/setcpu kernel and all that.
just install, and run. it will give you a screen about how its only for 2.0 and iphone, but there is a link that says "continue on unsopported device" just click that, sign into google, and thats it.
seems kind of worthless without location but maybe its just my area. anyone else have any luck?
I have Google Maps 4.0 running on gbhill's custom 1.6. Downloaded straight from the market and it's working without any problems.
Open your browser, go to buzz.google.com, tell it "Continue on an unsupported device." Done.
No need for this "web app."

Someone I know just tested it on 1.5 and it worked. Now, is there a way to install the new Map update on 1.5? I miss my Camera and Sprint Visual Voicemail on 2.1 ROM...
I haven't seen Maps 4.0 running on 1.5 yet but I did test the Buzz mobile site on a 1.5 emulator. Works fine.

Anyway to download the new .apk file and install it on 1.5?
I know it needs Layers to work something the 1.5 map app doesn't have.

AFAIK, the apk will not install on 1.5. It would be available in the market if it was compatible.
I have my voice mail forwarded to google voice, so I don't miss visual voicemail one bit.

As I have said on the 2.1 ROM, no Google Voice in Puerto Rico. Also, the 2.1 ROM is missing some key stuff and the lack of protected apps on Market hurts it. I am starting to miss my Camera too.
Is Youmail a better alternative to Sprint's Visual Voicemail.

just did that to test.
that just loads the google buzz mobile web page, not the app. hit 'menu' while you are in buzz using that method, you get your browser menu...
the apk installs the app.

Google designed it as a web app... I'm not all that excited about a standalone app, though I know others are. Personally I'll be using Buzz mostly from Maps and my desktop browser (via Gmail.)
EDIT: I just installed the Buzz app from Spartan Coders... it's *identical* to the main web app I get through Browser or Steel. It's like this app is a browser that only goes to one site and has no menus or settings of its own. I'll just make a shortcut to a Buzz bookmark instead.
Or is there some feature of this app that I'm overlooking??

I've never tried YouMail on anything but stock, but I know with stock it locks the Hero awake.

[Q] No application to handle google.streetview

I have the Google maps 4.5.0 and when ever I click on the street view I get a message that says that there is no application to enable it. Is there an extra file i need to install and if so could i get the link? thank you
There is an app made by google called "Street View on Google maps" which you can find either by searching for it on the market or by going to your 'downloads' section, selecting a google app such as gmail, voice, etc. and pressing on the "view more applications" selection under the section "About the developer"
Try that out, hopefully it'll do the trick
Or you could try reflashing the Google ad on's from recovery if your running CM6.1 hope it helps good luck

T-Mobile store installed applanet.net

My friend went to the Tmobile store with her new sensation 4g to ask them how to simplify the HTC sense home screens and maybe stop the bloatware and sense applications.
The rep who apparently is the Tmobile district manager, installed applanet.net and adw.launcher.
Does anyone know about applanet.net . The Google search brings up 1 year old info. Maybe they've gone legal now? can any apps downloaded through there be detrimental?
Also, the adw.launcher app says 'not installed' under market but the black adw theme is running. There is no option to install or uninstall it.
I'm not sure exactly what the rep did.
She's also now getting 'parsing' errors during regular updates or standard market apps
Does anyone have any advice please?

That's an app to get free pirated apps..it's not updating g right because the newer markets wont update pirated apps anymore.....tell her to uninstall that and use the market and she should b fine

Yeah that is an alternative market with pirated apps, if she removes that all the issues will stop. The reason adw isn't showing as installed is because of it being downloaded from applanet.net

[Q] Anyone lose Market with Google Play update?

Anyone else have the issue where Market is gone after "Google Play" update? I found the apk and pushed it with adb but still, it's a little odd. Not really running anything "Custom" just some mods to the stock 2.3.6.

Market was simply replaced by Google Play. Just go through your apps and you'll see Google Play, that's the new Market.
Market is called Google Play now . It should be in the app launcher.

Works fine here.

Yup, your old App Market icon will show not working, then will disappear upon reboot. New icon says Play Store.
I understand all of that and expected it, but what I am saying is there is no Play Store, no GooglePlayStore.apk, nor Google Play anywhere on the device. Pushing the apk resulted in no change, restoring /system.
Update:
Something must have just got borked in the OTA upgrade, I after restoring /system I forced the upgrade and we are good to go.
Yes, it is called "Play Store" now. weird name, i feel it doesn't appeal to a bigger audience.
I'm stock and mine still shows the Market. Doesn't show Google Play in the app drawer yet.
Go to application and clear data in market and then go back to market

Cleared data, went back to market, clicked Accept when the Google Play notification came up, and it took me into the market. Restarted the phone and it still shows up as "Market" in the app list and no icon for "Play Store" shows up.
Would it matter that I'm using Zeam Launcher?
Clear zeam cache or data. You will lose your customizations but it should show up

Can I just switch back to Touch Wiz launcher and do it there, and then after it is done, move back to Zeam?
Edit: Tried clearing market data from inside TW and then selecting market. Still gave me the Google Play disclosure, which I accepted, and then it still loaded the Market. Still doesn't show Google Play in the App Drawer, still shows Market, and Market still works.
I guess it doesn't matter all that much what it is called as long as I can access the market?
Same here, it's still Market for me even after I accepted the terms of Google Play.
If were running full custom, I'm assuming we don't need to change it or are they disabling the Market app entirely for this
Yes i did i downloaded it again from 4shared

Yeah I'm running NexusMod 4 and I hit accept on the information but still 3.4.4 Market, which works. Odd.

Yeap same thing here, running NexusMod 4 and still showing old Market but it still works. I accept the new Google Play prompt, but its still called Market. Hope they dont disable this soon and then I got no Market or Google Play.

A few days ago I was running Silver rom. That's when my market icon was replaced with the Play icon. Flashed Red Sonja and now stock, both of which have the market icon back. Weird.

[Q] Apps not downloading

I don't use my A700 all that much but I have noticed recently that none of my downloaded apps from the play store are automatically updating as they used to do. I have done a search of the internet and found others that have had a similar problem but none of the fixes have worked for me.
I am using Adroid 4.1.1, kernel version 3.1.10+ and build number Acer_AV051_A700_1.052.00_PA_CUS1. I have checked for updates but the tablet says none are available.

First off, I moved your post to Q & A forum.
As with your issue, going to Settings and checking for updates, is only for the Operating System, Not for apps.
Several changes to the Play Store in updating things. You can open your Play Store (old Market) and select your Installed Apps icon. This will tell you what apps need updated, and you can d it from there (best to have a good Wifi connection as I think you have many updates).
As with Auto-Updating, I believe each app you have installed has this available as an option. Normally, I select it when I install an app from the Play Store. So check your Play store options.

I guess that is where the problem lies. I go to Play Store but I cannot find a Installed Apps icon.
I went to settings and see "Auto-update apps" under the General category does not have a check mark next to it. I tapped it and made sure that "Auto-update apps at any time. Data charges may apply" is checked. Still no updates.
Thanks for your help
I´m not quite sure but I think I have a similar problem: Each time I want to install/update an app I have to kill all Google tasks in settings. I am on stock 4.1.1 rooted.

With Play Store, select the "down arrow" in the upper right corner. This takes you to "installed apps" and "All apps you have downloaded. Go to Installed Apps, and you can manually update them. Also, if you select an app, you can select auto updating. :good:

Don't have an answer for that one. However, you can kill the auto sync in quick settings rather than going directly into settings.

Thanks MD, that helped things along. I completely missed the "INSTALLED" at the top of the screen which does not surprise me in my advanced age.
Autoupdate is enabled for all of my apps but I still don't see the downloading being displayed in the lower right corner as I used to see in the past and a notification that an update for an app had completed. Maybe I am being impatient.
Thanks again for your help.
