When I search "Facebook Messenger", I can't find it in the Market, whether I am doing this from my phone or desktop.
However I was able to locate it last time by first searching for "Facebook for Android", then tapped on "View more applications" from my phone, or "More from developr" from my desktop. But this trick doesn't work anymore. At this moment, the only way I could find its market's path is through long-pressing it from within APP2SD and click "View on Market" from the popup menu. Strange enough, it's actually available if you click the direct link someone posted in the forum https://market.android.com/details?id=com.facebook.orca
I'm not sure if it's just me, or others also encounter the same situation as I did.
It's not available outside the US on Android Market, for now.
But I was able to download it from the Market a few weeks ago, and have been able to receive notification for update all the while. Only recently when I recommended it to a friend did I realize that it is missing from the market.

i just flash CM7 and gapps..but i cant have google maps..i search at market...cant be download also..
please help me...where i can get google map??
i simply type in google map in Android Market
then click install
done
maybe you just need to install Android Market spoof app, to make it think it is in USA
Get the gapps.zip from CM wiki... it'll contain the market (or get the market.apk itself).

In Malaysia, updates to google maps are not available for some ****ed up reason. It is very frustrating how google shuns markets outside the US. I have no idea why we dont have Google+, Blogger, Chrometophone (the list goes on)
However a workaround(bug) to this is just to wait for another update to come along in your android market. When this happens, there will be an option to update ALL apps. Choose this one and google maps will update and install as well. Just be patient, or download an app that gets updates frequently

Ever thought about it's not Google mocking you but the government restricting the market in MY to get certain apps?
Especially those apps you mentioned leave an impression that tools enabling quick sharing of opinions are blocked.
Market enabler? Tried that? Fake one of the US providers and try searching again. If not, google that .apk and install it manually...

Hi, guys, need help here.
After I updated apps from the play store, I tried to download another app. But mysteriously, an error occured. It says: ***(app name) could not be downloaded due to an error; error retrieving information from server [RPC:AEC:0]. Then I tried several other apps, and this error occured every time.
Has anyone gotten this before? Need a solution here. Many thanks!
Did everything work before? Were u stock? If u were on different ROM, which one?
What ROM is happening on? Maybe put this question in that ROMs thread since it could be something to do with DPI of that ROM.
But b4 that u should at the minimum reflash gapps.
I would start over... clean wipe and reflash.... but that's just me. It normally fixes errors that are hard to fix.
Good luck

the same thing happened to me and what i did to solve the problem was replace the play store
Problem solved! I first cleaned up the cache of the play app, didn't work. Then I uninstalled the update, did work either. However after I deleted my google account and re-logged in, it worked perfectly. Anyway, thanks for the advices.
Thank you Adrianyu

In settings, Google, click your account, then in the drop down menu in the top right corner remove account. That is how I did it anyway.

lol, that is like putting tape over the "Check Engine" light on a car, because you don't want to fix it.
It's no solution at all.
Anyway, @OP, thanks, I had this problem too and I removed my google account and re-added, and Play Store works fine now.
Same issue
Hey guys:
Follow all your recommendations at straight line, but (Samsung Skyrocket) my phone keep with the same trouble.
Stock ROM, ICS, many "acquired" apps. But bought apps before from the store without any issue, and now I can't.
Any other advice that comes to your minds? Please and thanks in advance.
I was running around in circles and getting nowhere...until I did this (you must complete the full list)
Go to settings
Tap “Apps” (in left menu)
Tap “All” (last tab on top right hand side)
Scroll until you find “Google Play Store”. Tap it.
Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
Tap the back button to get the list of apps again.
Scroll until you find “Google Service Framework”. Tap it.
Tap “Force Stop”, tap “OK”, tap “Clear data” and if possible (but it might be disabled) tap “Clear cache”.
Now reboot your device.
Good luck...

just a FYI, when you "Clear data," it also clears the cache. I am 99% positive of that.
At least on ICS/JB, maybe on GB it's different.. not positive about GB.
All fine now but I have to erase all the PS data, erase phone account, clear all data a FS all Google appps and then start all over. With that, all is working for me perfectly.

Just loaded Jelly Bean Factory's CM10 ROM on my Inspire 4G. Had the same issue. Deleting account and then signing in again worked for me also. Be aware though, some of you may not have the drop-down menu mentioned. Go to Settings, Google, your account, then whatever menu key your device has. Mine says "Remove Account", yours should say something similar.
Thanks for all the help! I was getting a bit concerned.

I found that Google play simply hadn't updated, I found the latest Apk and installed that. None of your suggestions worked on my nook.
Just installed it and loving it. Supposedly will only run on 4.2 or higher unless you wait for the official update on play store. I was waiting for this so figured I would share the knowledge.

My HTC One on AT&T has not gotten the Maps update yet. I downloaded the APK from Androidpolice and it's working, but now I read there is a 7.0.1 update where they added the Offline maps selection when viewing the map (as opposed to having to type "Ok Maps" in the first release). However, I cannot find an updated APK for Android 4.1.2 devices... the two APK's I downloaded which were 7.0.1 could not be parsed because I'm not on 4.2. Anyone know where I can find the 7.0.1 APK for Android 4.1.2?
Also, for those of you with HTC One's, can you confirm whether addresses from the Phone application will open the new Google Maps app? On my device, if I click on an address from the Phone/Contacts app, it doesn't do anything now, whereas before it would open the address in Google Maps (on the older version).
Anyone else?

Same here. Actually, when I tap an address in contacts, it opens at&t navigator, which I am not using. I disabled it and now nothing happens at all when you tap the address. I was hoping that by disabling the at&t navigator it would default back to Google maps.
Also, if you just tap in the empty search bar, it will bring up the information cards. Just scroll down to the bottom and the option to store the map offline is already there in this version.

Yeah, somehow the contacts app just lost connection to the maps app with this version, so even if you don't have another app set as default, it just does nothing when you click an address. My initially was opening Glympse because I had that installed, but even after uninstalling it, it still isn't opening Maps. Definitely a bug between the HTC contacts app and the new Maps... which means it's probably not going to fixed for some time. I'm hoping that the upcoming HTC One update to 4.2 will fix it... but who knows when AT&T will be rolling that out. I'm not interested at this time in rooting my phone and installing a custom rom to try to fix this.
Thanks for the tip about the offline maps setting, I found it.
EDIT: There is still a way to get a contact address to appear in the new maps. Just start typing the name of the contact that has an associated address and it'll show up in the search results. Not as convenient, but at least it's a workaround for now!
I like it but driving along the navigation lags behind where I actually am

I received the 7.0.1 update through the Play store this afternoon (I'm on AT&T stock 4.1.2). When I click on addresses in Contacts it gives me the option to open the address with AT&T Navigator or Waze but not Maps. Not sure what the behavior was with earlier versions of Maps because I never tried it before now.

The correct behavior would be to ask you what app to use for links, including the Maps app. But since the link to Maps is broken, it is just asking you amongst your other compatible apps. If you don't have any other compatible apps, it will do nothing when you select an address.
Note that this just happens in the Phone/Contacts app though in Sense. If you use Chrome or another Google app that has an address or map link, it will still open in the new Maps. So it might be something HTC has to fix, or it might be something just broken with the API in the new Maps app. Only time will tell, but as I mentioned, you can start typing a contact name in the new Maps app, and it will show the address, so that's a workaround for now.
I had to uninstall and reinstall old version. If I zoom out past a certain point, the map doesn't render.. I'm on ARHD 12 if that matters.

It's hard to say whether it's your custom rom or not, but the maps renders fine at all zoom levels on my HTC One running 4.1.2 stock.
I don't use my A700 all that much but I have noticed recently that none of my downloaded apps from the play store are automatically updating as they used to do. I have done a search of the internet and found others that have had a similar problem but none of the fixes have worked for me.
I am using Adroid 4.1.1, kernel version 3.1.10+ and build number Acer_AV051_A700_1.052.00_PA_CUS1. I have checked for updates but the tablet says none are available.

First off, I moved your post to Q & A forum.
As with your issue, going to Settings and checking for updates, is only for the Operating System, Not for apps.
Several changes to the Play Store in updating things. You can open your Play Store (old Market) and select your Installed Apps icon. This will tell you what apps need updated, and you can d it from there (best to have a good Wifi connection as I think you have many updates).
As with Auto-Updating, I believe each app you have installed has this available as an option. Normally, I select it when I install an app from the Play Store. So check your Play store options.

I guess that is where the problem lies. I go to Play Store but I cannot find a Installed Apps icon.
I went to settings and see "Auto-update apps" under the General category does not have a check mark next to it. I tapped it and made sure that "Auto-update apps at any time. Data charges may apply" is checked. Still no updates.
Thanks for your help
I´m not quite sure but I think I have a similar problem: Each time I want to install/update an app I have to kill all Google tasks in settings. I am on stock 4.1.1 rooted.

With Play Store, select the "down arrow" in the upper right corner. This takes you to "installed apps" and "All apps you have downloaded. Go to Installed Apps, and you can manually update them. Also, if you select an app, you can select auto updating. :good:

Don't have an answer for that one. However, you can kill the auto sync in quick settings rather than going directly into settings.

Thanks MD, that helped things along. I completely missed the "INSTALLED" at the top of the screen which does not surprise me in my advanced age.
Autoupdate is enabled for all of my apps but I still don't see the downloading being displayed in the lower right corner as I used to see in the past and a notification that an update for an app had completed. Maybe I am being impatient.
Thanks again for your help.
