Audio Books - Captivate General

I have a few audio books that I want to listen to on my phone. These files are mp3 files. I found an app that will let me bookmark the files like audiobooks (Audio book player). The problem is that now in the music player it shows all the tracks of the audio books. I found a way to exclude the audio book files from the music app ( .nomedia file in the folder). But the audio book app doesn't see them now.
Is there a way to exclude a certain folder from being seen in the music app but seen elsewhere? Or, is there an audio book player app that can see the contents of a folder, instead of seeing "music" from the media scan.

Nevermind ... some additional Googling found tinyPlayer. It gives me the audio book functionality with folder view not using the "music" on the phone.

Froyo and playlists and non-OEM media player help.

Pardon me if this has been addressed elsewhere. I have searched the internet as well as these forums and have found "similar" posts but nothing EXACT.
I have a Samsung Captivate just upgraded to the official Froyo - everything works great EXCEPT FOR THIS:
Playlists synchronized from my PC to the phone do not show up in ANY media player EXCEPT for "Music Player" (OEM/stock) - I have used Media Monkey, doubleTwist and WinAmp on the computer side and on the phone side I have used Mixzing, WinAmp and doubleTwist to play - ALL the music shows up (with correct tags) but the playlists do NOT in any player except for Music Player - I suspect this is either a known issue with no known work-around, or the workaround is simple and I'm about to get yelled at for not knowing what exact word string combination to search for to pull it up.
I've never been able to transfer my playlists either so I'd like to know if there is a solution too. If not there's always the longer way by adding the songs you want to an sd card, save them as playlist then move the music from there & repeat as needed.

Don't know if this will help you, so here goes. I noticed that when I downloaded some mp3's that a few of the tags were WAY off (band name, song title, etc). So I downloaded, from the Market, MP3 Tagger to rename those tags. What I'm getting at is that MP3 Tagger automatically finds where your mp3's are stored on your phone, then allows you to make changes, then the newly-changed file shows up in your media players automatically. I hope this helps.
What are you using to sync the music and create the playlist? Are you connecting the Captivate as a Mass Storage device or a Media Player? If connecting as a Media Player, then the playlists will be created as WPL files which I believe only the stock player will play. I connect the captivate as a Mass Storage Device and then sync it that way, which creates an M3U playlist which can be played by everything
only WMP makes WPL lists and it can be changed in settings. he mentioned he used winamp and others. so probably not the issue.
also i find mounting as media player, sucks, i did that and half my music disapeared. might have been a bad phone though. been replaced but ever since i connect as mass storage.
I've tried mass storage and media player. When I use mass storage the music loses its organization (folders, etc) but that might have been a MediaMonkey thing. I will try the experiment again using mass storage and doubletwist and winamp- I have the highest faith in those two...

The playlists ARE showing up on the phone but ONLY in the stock music player. Its almost like they are being intercepted. I am going to try mass storage and doubletwist tonight.

I had the same problem then started using doubletwist on y phone and desktop to sync. It works perfect now.

I just tried using doubletwist to doubletwist using "storage mode" not MTP and I'm having the same problem. The playlists do not show up in ANY application on the device except for "My Music" (OEM player). All the tracks, albums, artists show up in the other player just not the playlists.

"folder music instead of the muSic"? I'm not understanding what you mean. Are you saying you want to create a playlist but not have to choose from your whole library but instead choose from one folder?
What i want to do is pick a whole music folder and get that as my playlist instead. (something like in itunes the u can drop a whole folder in and thats a playlist

Use Astro http://www.talkandroid.com/android-forums/android-chat/1830-browse-music-folder.html#post25429
Just tried it - it works. Didn't know Astro could do that.

folder-based music player

it's a pretty simple question. I have my ringtones (mp3) on my sd-card, now I added some (~4 GB) of music in another folder. All i want now, is a music-player, that excludes the ringtones-folder and only shuffles the music-folder.
I tried "instinctiv" and "music player pro", but both INCLUDE the ringtone folder.
Does anyone know a good player, that plays the music-folder only?
You should try Power Amp, 15 day trial is free in the market. And if you haven't organize things, I have a folder called Media on my SDcard and in there I have Music, Movies, and Audio. I have Notifications and Ringtones inside Audio. Haven't had any problems with ringtones showing up

With PowerAmp you can choose which folders to scan and which not.

Folder based music player = Mort player
try it, simple and awesome
thanks for answers, gonna try both.
All Good including Player Pro with it's widget.
it has that function too.
PlayerPro has a Folder Browser and you can set the Dir you want scanned for Music. I bought It because I am so used to the way my iPhone used to do music. I couldn't live without it (Genre>Artists>Albums). App is worth every penny!
Using stock music play from sensation. I made a folder called Music and dumped all my mp3s in there. Stock music player didnt play all the ringtones and such. Only the mp3s in the created folder.
in your SD card, create a folder "media", in this one create an other folder "notification" and put your ringtones in it.
i did this since the first day and my ringtones never appear in music player hope it will work for you
You can try MyMusicOn Music Player. Can configure it the setting to browse by folder.
MIUI music player works with folder view too. Not sure about the latest versions though..
Very good and simple player.

[Q] Google Music

Hi,
Does anyone know where the Google Music app stores the downloaded music on the sd? I uploaded some music files to my Google Music account and my sensation made it available offline... as i know that means it downloaded the music on my phone.
I'm interested because i'm running on ARHD 3.1.6 with Beats and i want to use the stock music app. I certainly don't want to copy all my music on the sd card once more assuming the Google music app has already done that.
Or one way around, is it possible to use the Beats enhancement in the Google music app?
Thanks in advance

Google music doesn't store anything on your sd card that's the beauty of the program which is why it requires its own music player which acts like YouTube and streams your music. Unfortunately beats is not able to be accessed through a msound enhancer altho I believe that if you set beats on your music app then switch to google music the enhancement remains.

It does save to the SD card
SD/Android/data/com.google.Android.music/
In here you will find a "cache" folder and a "music" folder (music folder is created when you save music for off line use)
Thanks

Thanks, found it. Unfortunatly in that folder the files don't have their original names like "asd fgh - xyz.mp3" , theire stored as file1, file2, file3 etc..
Anyway now i just need a way to make the HTC Music app find them and play them.
Edit: There is a .nomedia file in that folder. Deleted and now i can play them in HTC Music app
nice im bout to do that

Hmm, doesn't seem to have any effect for me - I removed the .nomedia file and opened the music player, waited for it finish scanning my SD card, and the Google music cached songs don't appear. I can tap on the song in ASTRO and play it, but it's impossible to know what's what based upon file names. Wondering if maybe Google Music is stripping all tags from the music files and maintaining those tags independently so you're hooked into their player?

Are there any apps that will find and download mp3 tag information

Basically here is the problem, I have 1,000+ songs without tags, IE Untitled.mp3 by Unknown Artist.
I am trying to use MP3 Album Cover Grabber but it only works with the Song name, Artist, and Album Tags already put in.
My current methood is using soundhound while playing the song, writting down the information and manually editing the tags (Really time consuming). Is there anything out there to automate this process?
Thanks
DroID3tagger from Google play is what your looking for. It uses a process similar to Soundhound, etc. to Id the unknown files
