Hi,
Does anyone know where the Google Music app stores the downloaded music on the sd? I uploaded some music files to my Google Music account and my sensation made it available offline... as i know that means it downloaded the music on my phone.
I'm interested because i'm running on ARHD 3.1.6 with Beats and i want to use the stock music app. I certainly don't want to copy all my music on the sd card once more assuming the Google music app has already done that.
Or one way around, is it possible to use the Beats enhancement in the Google music app?
Thanks in advance

Google music doesn't store anything on your sd card that's the beauty of the program which is why it requires its own music player which acts like YouTube and streams your music. Unfortunately beats is not able to be accessed through a msound enhancer altho I believe that if you set beats on your music app then switch to google music the enhancement remains.

It does save to the SD card
SD/Android/data/com.google.Android.music/
In here you will find a "cache" folder and a "music" folder (music folder is created when you save music for off line use)
Thanks

Thanks, found it. Unfortunatly in that folder the files don't have their original names like "asd fgh - xyz.mp3" , theire stored as file1, file2, file3 etc..
Anyway now i just need a way to make the HTC Music app find them and play them.
Edit: There is a .nomedia file in that folder. Deleted and now i can play them in HTC Music app
nice im bout to do that

Hmm, doesn't seem to have any effect for me - I removed the .nomedia file and opened the music player, waited for it finish scanning my SD card, and the Google music cached songs don't appear. I can tap on the song in ASTRO and play it, but it's impossible to know what's what based upon file names. Wondering if maybe Google Music is stripping all tags from the music files and maintaining those tags independently so you're hooked into their player?

it's a pretty simple question. I have my ringtones (mp3) on my sd-card, now I added some (~4 GB) of music in another folder. All i want now, is a music-player, that excludes the ringtones-folder and only shuffles the music-folder.
I tried "instinctiv" and "music player pro", but both INCLUDE the ringtone folder.
Does anyone know a good player, that plays the music-folder only?
You should try Power Amp, 15 day trial is free in the market. And if you haven't organize things, I have a folder called Media on my SDcard and in there I have Music, Movies, and Audio. I have Notifications and Ringtones inside Audio. Haven't had any problems with ringtones showing up

With PowerAmp you can choose which folders to scan and which not.

Folder based music player = Mort player
try it, simple and awesome
thanks for answers, gonna try both.
All Good including Player Pro with it's widget.
it has that function too.
PlayerPro has a Folder Browser and you can set the Dir you want scanned for Music. I bought It because I am so used to the way my iPhone used to do music. I couldn't live without it (Genre>Artists>Albums). App is worth every penny!
Using stock music play from sensation. I made a folder called Music and dumped all my mp3s in there. Stock music player didnt play all the ringtones and such. Only the mp3s in the created folder.
in your SD card, create a folder "media", in this one create an other folder "notification" and put your ringtones in it.
i did this since the first day and my ringtones never appear in music player hope it will work for you
You can try MyMusicOn Music Player. Can configure it the setting to browse by folder.
MIUI music player works with folder view too. Not sure about the latest versions though..
Very good and simple player.
Hi,
I've just finished install the ROM CoreDroid, and I have issue with my music.
I created a folder "Music" on my SD Card, but neither of PlayerPro or the default music player can find my songs.
I've also tried in Documents\Music, same problem.
How can I solve this issue ?
Thank's
Thanks for choosing Coredroid! Music players working ok for me. Both stock and PowerAmp find my tunes. I created a 'music' folder like you.
Have you tried a reboot since creating your folder? Sounds odd but sometimes you need to force a scan of media before a player will see it. There is also an app that does this without a reboot called SDrescan. Give that a go and let me know what happens.

I finally found the problem. My songs were in .flac, apparently CoreDroid can't recognize them.
Putting .MP3 in "Music" folder works.
Thank you anyway

It's not so much CoreDroid, but a specific media player which does or does not support flac. The stock HTC player has never supported it. I can highly recommend the purchase of PowerAmp. It can play flac files and is in my opinion the best player out there.
Hi everyone,
My Sensation XE is completely stock, not rooted or anything.
I have a few folders storing songs, & I'd like to play the music by folder.
How do I do that?
Thanks,
D
Well, as far as I know you can't play music by folder...Unless inside the folder there is only one album. Then it would show as different albums, not folders.
Hope I helped.
Have a good day.
There are a few paid apps that will allow you to play by folder, e.g. poweramp and winamp. An excellent free app alternative is mort player, which can also play folders.

Beats Audio doesn't work with these paid & free apps correct?
I'm trying poweramp per your suggestion & I feel like it's not as good as stock player with Beats Audio.
I'd like to be able to use Beats Audio or a program equivalent.
Please advice
Thanks.
Seems PowerAMP did get something to do with Beats support recently: http://powerampapp.com/2012/02/poweramp-v2-0-5-build-473/
I use the stock player with beats audio. It does not play foldersm but there is a workaround - you can create m3u playlists in each folder.
The stock player can see/play those just fine. Its just like playing the folder but requires a bit of extra work.
I run linux and use a script to auto generate m3u playlists for each of the folders on the computer, so whenever the files are synced up, its always up-to-date

yeah, seems like creating a play list is the only way to work around it for stock player & Beats audio.
Your linux approach sounds like a great idea. But I know nothing about it. Wish you were my neighbor hehehe.
Thanks gentlemen!

hey guys, im running ARHD 6.5.1 XE and i'm having problems with the included play music (formerly google music) app. i can access all my cloud music but i've got about 5 gb of music on the sdcard which play music isn't able to detect. ubermusic and the htc music app all see it though.
i've looked in settings and there's nothing that seems to be hampering it. can someone tell me how to fix it?
thanks!

It isn't stored on your SD card, it is stored as Cache for the app itself. If you want the music to be on your SD card, then you will have to use the physical program on the computer call Google Music Manager to download them to your computer and then transfer them to your SD card

I've had this problem with Google Music not seeing my music on the SD card. My solution has been to go into settings - apps, google music app and clear data and cache. Then fire up google music again and it should see your SD card's music.

Hello, I just want to know how the Google Play Music app know where and how to select the songs on my device's local storage in order to play them in the app? In fact, on the external SD card of my phone, I made a folder with all my songs in it and when I open the app, all songs will automatically loads up in the app. But the question is that the setting of the app is dead simple; it does not even have the "music folder' selection in which I can tell what songs the app have to scan. Why and how everything comes out automatically and what happens if I have more than one "music folder"? How to app will scan? Thanks.
I want to know this as well cause Google Music isn't bad but just being able to play music when your online is just crap when you have music stored on your phone.
Android has something called a media scanner, it usually runs after boot has completed (it may also update here and then while the device is running).
So this media scanner scans all your data for music/videos/pictures so that these files can easily be accessed by any app. So it does not matter where your files are, it just finds them.
If you add music through any non standard app to your storage this may not trigger the media scanner, thats why recently added music may not show in those apps using the media scanners results.
