WM5 Upgrade problem

Hello everybody!!!
I need help with my Himalaya... Tried to upgrade it to WM5, successful for a while but after a soft reset, it wont boot up properly. It stays stuck on the Windows Mobile boot screen, with both the bluetooth and power/signal light turning on/off alternately. Hard resetting it does not help, the same symptoms are still happening. I had to reinstall the WM5 ROM several times but the same problem now occurs everytime I have to soft reset the unit. I had to downgrade to wm2003, ROM 1.72.00WWE, Radio v1.17.00, extROM v1.72.181.
Can anybody help me on this? Thanks!

After upgrade, ensure you clear registry and format the storage. You may try to redo this by following the instructions in the last part of the installation document, as pasted below:
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

Also be aware that many backup software can corrupt an installation after recovery, even those that have a "Upgrade or Migration" feature. It is best to use PPCBckpContacts to restore your contacts and to use SMS BackupSoftware for your sms's, both can be found on this forum and both use standard databases instead of proprietary formats that could corrupt the WM5 databases.

off topic:thanx rudega, u dnt know how amazed i am...just signed up to the forum cus i wanted to get the WM6 theme for my xda, then it said i needed wm5 so i cried abit, the i saw this post and laughed ha u cant update O2 website havent said anything...then i looked around this whole forum and realised i could. this is amazing really pleased. no more old looking 2003.
that post i wrote ealier must be amusing to all since everyone here knows u can upgrade to wm2005. i kinda regret it being my 1st ever post here.

it is working as of now!!! yahoo! thanks a lot pneuma! i've decided to use chandra shenkar's ROM... it IS a lot faster than the original WM5 that i've previously used. will give a heads up if things go wrong again!

hi i hav KROME NAVIGATOR wit win 2003 ROM version 1.72.00wwe radio version 1.17.00 well i hav tried to upgrade it manny times to wm05 & also 2003se but it gives error.. i used unlocker software from here in dowloads but it says its already unlocked .. plz any1 help me how to flash wm05 on ma PDA... i got it somtime ago.. i also hav a spv c550 smartphone too which i did upgrade to wm059 i used super CID tool to unlock the ROM for Flashin, but i can't get through this one plz help.. it be very helpfull... thanks in advance...

Just did a soft reset and the problem just happened again. something must be wrong with my hardware! i had to do a hard reset to get back up again. comments anyone?

wow i remember this post i made month ago. since then my phone broke, was stuck with an acient nokia, no camera, not even a colour screen. luckily im back with a new windows mobile phone. anyway no one is gonna read this, but i thought i should take a trip down memory lane

i dunno if my phone is useless now!

please while using shelltool. to upgrade wm5 to wm6 but ive just got an error message and suddenly lost my connection from activesync! please i dont know how to retrieve my phone! now after bootscreen... white screen appears and nothing happens! i tried hard reset it. nothing happens! please help!
i wish someone here could help me! please! im crying like a baby here! cant sleep! waiting for answers!

Well, then you are not the notsohappy owner of a brick
Get it into bootloader and flash your carrier's official rom
Also, see that in WM6 you must use only ActiveSync 4.5 or higher
Ask if you need help, I will be here for couple of hours and there are others who know way more than me and also can help

Get the rgb boot loader screen on by holding down camera while you reset. Then connect via usb to the pc. You will see the word " usb " appear on the bottom of the screen on your phone.
Run the exe you downloaded from your manufacturer / carriers website and it will install the stock rom.
Phone will reboot when finished.

Rather than just randomly flashing stuff, you need to read. Specifically:

It will step you through things and point you to the right posts to get you going. DON'T SKIP STEPS! DO Everything and check everything...

Please Help... My Screen Showing only showing 3 Colors

I was trying to install the Dutty's WM 6.1 OS on my Boss's Tilt, didnt worked with the kaiser-HardSPLv1, and looked around for solution and found that i can copy "JumpSPL1.56-KAIS" and run it on the Tilt and than can install the OS, but somehow, its giving this 3 Color Screen and Serial and when i connect to USB, it shows USB instead of Serial, than when i try to install Dutty's OS, it comes up with Recovery option and doesnt finish successfully, it stays on 0% and than again goes back to Recovery option.
Please help me, will be enough if i can go back to where i was before installing anything or any way to Hard Reset and get back to the previous state before running JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.
Please reply ASAP.

Thank you for your response.
I looked at a similar thread and after the white screen, i put the jumpspl on Tilt and ran it and thats how it got stuck on the 4 color screen.
My Screen Shows
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.93.0000
CPLD-8
on the right top corner the tri-color screen displays RUUNBH
and in the bottom White Screen(4th) it shows USB if its connected to USB o/w it shows Serial.
I can no longer connect to the PC using ActiveSync.
Please guide me to fix this problem.

most of us know how to answer and it has been answered many times... why don't u get off ur lazy ass and do some work by searching and reading around.
and to op rule 1: never install anything for anyone.
and secondly u have bad sector blocks which can be cleared using mtty ..again search and read.

THE SOLUTION FOR THE 10,000 TIME DEPENDS ON YOUR SPL VERSION.
FOR YOUR 1.93 SPL IT IS AS FOLLOWS:
USING MTTY ISSUE THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS:
cmd>set 16 0
cmd>task 8
FOR INFO ON USING MTTY, SEARCH & READ.

I think he meant on anyone elses phone it was his bosses phone. You know help someone out by trying to upgrade their phone and blowing it up.

I am having a strange problem with my kaiser vodafone, come up with white screen and does not work at all, is just possible have the tricolor screen using switch + camera keys, a this point I have tried to install new ROM, HARD SPL etc. the loading bar come up on screen but nothing happen,
I did plenty of suggestion reading around the forum but nothing is working, look like is a hardware faulty ????
So please if somebody expert on the matter can let me know something to do will be appraciate ...

please post this in the appropriate thread...like for example the HARDSPL thread. For example the one dealing with the white screen issue specifically. Try searching "hard spl white screen"

for starters wrong thread .. secondly problem could have been completely avoided if you did the basic reading i.e. first hardspl .. if white screen than follow thread on white screen fix .. got hardspl? flash rom ... simple as that.
now u need help .. and instead of posting under the right thread you create a new redundant thread asking about a problem that quite a few people run into. in order for us to help we need info from your phone .. what does bootloader say? can u boot to operating system?

sorry but I did not where put my problem, I did try to resolve it reading lots of other thread and I try lots of solution but nothing, anyway thanks for your help and time, so the problem with my kaiser is that it power up with white screen and nothing else happened then I have to take off the battery and put in again then pressing power button and camera I got the tricolor screen

You don't have hardspl installed. Install the hardspl, white screen fixed.

Before you get too upset, have you tried posting in the correct thread? Just like was suggested over a week ago? Have you tried a hard reset? I don't see that anywhere in your steps you took. What about flashing a stock rom?

You download the stock kaiser rom (searching is fun!), then you unrar, and click on the phone like button and follow the instructions. Then again, theres a thread on returning your phone to its original config. More searching fun!

O2 Exec not powering on after ROM Update!!!

Searched the forum but did not find anything, hopefully someone can help:
I upgraded from Tomal's ROM 8.2 to 8.5 and everything went fine. I got the message to do a hard reset which I did. Got the clear storage screen (press 0 to clear) but since I pressed 0 my piece is dead. Cant enter boot loaded, laptop wont recognise it either. Tried reading up on mtty tools but it requires atleast the bootloader screen. Someone please help!!

At the risk of appearing stupid.....Is your battery flat???? do you have another one to try or tried charging it? Coz I have never heard of this one.

took the battery out and kept it for about a day -- when I re-installed it started working -- weird...
