Talking Tom Cat, so funny - Android Apps and Games

“My daughter and I had so much fun with this application we just couldn’t stop laughing thank you, had tears rolling down my cheeks I was laughing so hard”
Talking Tom is an addictive and interactive pet cat game for iPhone/ iPad and Android. Tom responds to your touch and repeats everything you say with a funny voice. A funny app that is a must-try and must-have for funny moments. Children gonna love that! BTW, be ready to spin out around 12MB of storage and bandwidth to play with Tom. But it’s worth, really. Works fine with Apps2Sd on Froyo.

Wow, that's really a funny game, love it so much.

Some ratings in the market stated that this is malware, calling 0900 numbers and such. I uninstalled it, but I'm still waiting for a statement of the developers.

i have this on ipad and phone now hope they release there talking larry the bired one that is awesome and the baby hippo to

Fun for about 5 minutes, hell boring after.

Damn FUN!.. hope others will coming soon

Well aren't you just a ray of shining light. Obviously everyone who posted above you enjoyed it.
I mean I get your point, there isn't much to it but it's still funny. Yes, my kid loves it.. However it has a grown up purpose as well..
Next time you find yourself in an argument with your girlfriend and she is getting a bit.. uhm.. lippy. Load up this app and watch her reaction as she hears herself being repeated in a high(er) pitch voice.
She may not like it much but she won't be complaining about it while Tom is around!
MUAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA EvvvvIIIIlllllL!!

Greetings to all. Wanted to ask. Why on Samsung Spica i5700, the sound disappears? I love this application, but it is difficult for using because of it.

After using it for a while I was unable to download any apps on Vibrant. I think something is wrong with this app.

My family and I had a good time with this. Yes it doesn't serve much purpose but when your children and wife laugh isn't that a good enough reason to load it.

I agree, this app is funny! Its good to have a laugh every so often - it does you wonders
I've had it installed for around 3 weeks now and no dodgy numbers have been called by it from my phone.
Another fun use is to sneak up behind someone while they are on a call and let Tom repeat them watch how the conversation becomes more one sided lol
( and i don't mean people in the street :O i got my mum lol )

It's a fun app. I had him talking with my gf's iphone which has talking carl lol and they ended up conversing in a native language called static haha
I wish I had talking Carl D:.. he's cuter >_> D:

i been playing with the game for a time d, is awesome.. and the respond is so good..

My kid just had an argument with this cat. He wanted to get the last word in but the cat kept repeated him. I don't think he realised it was him.. bless.
Conversation went a bit like this...
Hello Kitty
Hello Kitty
No you Kitty. Me Dylan
No you Kitty. Me Dylan
No me Dylan.
No me Dylan.
No. You no Dylan me Dylan.
No. You no Dylan me dylan.
Mommy!
Mommy!
My mommy!
My mommy!
Aaaarrrgh
Aaaarrrgh
...it went on like this for a while and ended when he figured out he could poke the cat in the face and knock it out.

You apparently have a kid.
You are dating a girl who responds to you loading up this app by not talking anymore instead of dumping you for being pathetic.
The only kind of girl who would do that is a seven year old girl or younger.
I hope you are posting from behind a proxy.

Wow, why can't people just be allowed to enjoy an app for what it is? It's a silly little cat that you can mess with and repeats things back to you.
It's not a **** app, it works fine. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad, it just means that you don't like it.
Some of you on the site need to get over yourselves and stop with all the negativity.

Heard the saying "one man's meat is another man's poison"? Well, if one doesn't like this little kitty application, then don't download or install it! That is exactly what I do, but will not rubbish someone's hard work, when I myself couldn't create anything.
Thanks to the creator of this little application, will be installing it on my phone for fun.
Cheers!

Gonna give this to my nephew. Is this game on the market?

@sp1kez
Next time, if you don't like the game, don't post.
We don't need useless post like that.
Post deleted.
@Nemessi,
How can we say stupid things like that.
Stop it.
Reported to a senior mod.

its quite fun, though it would have a bigger "wow" factor if it wasn't a pre-rendered animation, but powered by the phone's cpu.
still its well made, and it holds potential to be made into some kind of tamagotchi game, where you have to care for the cat

[KIRF] Weird Chinese port of Plants vs Zombies

I'm not 100% sure if this is malicious or not, so please proceed with caution. It seems to have some kind of legitimate online/network function, and it actually plays pretty faithful to the original game.
Here's a link to the blog where it seems to have been originally released: http://pvz.lzn1007.blog.sohu.com/
I've attached the english apk for the daring.
Mods please let me know if this is too warez-y. I'll remove without hesitation.
EDIT: pvzz.apk attached below is the same thing except edited to display "Plants vs. Zombies Port" rather than Chinese charaters in the launcher. Thanks baksmali!

Yeah, I hear you. I would have a hard time believing that someone would put this much effort into making a backdoor. This is actually kinda good. Weirder things have happened, so who knows.
So, OP you've actually played this a good bit? Nothing ****ing up on your phone yet? Lol.

I played it. It's still installed and my phone isn't ablaze yet. I've noticed a couple bugs so far. One of the plants just refused to 'plant' on the playing field... other than that I'm fairly impressed.
About a year ago I had a call to Singapore on my bill that I *for sure* never made and I'm pretty sure it was the result of some shady app I installed on my Hero. So I would recommend caution in this situation.
Perhaps someone with a little more know-how could take a look and see if there's anything to worry about.
Played until it FC'd. It takes two presses to plant.
Nice find.
risking your phone to play a shady chinese port of a quite addictive game, count me in. downloading now haha.
super slow and choppy big time....
doesnt have "story mode"
just basically the challenge mode if you want to call it that where you pick all the plants you want for the round and the zombies start coming.
looks like someone rewrote the game, and didnt just port it over. like THEY redid all the graphics, etc etc.
good job, but has a long way to go.
but might be enough to tide some over until the real deal comes along, when ever the hell popcap decides to get onboard with android.

As long as you don't give it root permissions, which it hasn't asked for, I don't think it can do anything too damaging.
I just made it to wave 5 before the zombie on some kind of lawnmower looking thing pwned me. If anyone knows how to get the plant with a gun for a mouth to plant, let me know.
Another thing I noticed is this clearly gives you too many suns. I had like 700 when I died... couldn't plant stuff fast enough to use them all.
Ah ha! You have to drag the planes from the bar to were you want them placed.
Game is asking if I want to connect to WiYun for "amazing features".
I am always down for trying new thing. Rooted my Evo first day I got it. Same with my Palm Pre. Lets rock!

I made a game with appinventor please test

Hey everyone, Im glad to be a part of this forum, I just recently put a game together in appinventor. I used appinventor because i obviously have zero programming experience. I have it published on the android market. I would love it if you guys could maybe give it a try and give a little feedback on performance, I know it has bugs but they are very minor. I developed it with a huawei ascend with 2.1 but it should work with 1.5 and up, it runs decent on mine , Just remember when you exit game, hit menu button and choose stop & exit
The name of game is "Next to The Last Starfighter" and it has a picture of a blue starship icon
the developer "name is next to last" to, please leave me 3 stars ormore if you test it, even if it really sucks
also its free and no ads or anything, i just want some test done with various android versions and get a little feedback
nobody? heres some screenshots, its not that bad of a game, but its a little choppy on my huawei ascend when a lot of ufos are present, i would greatly appreciate if someone with a better faster phone could try it

I tried it out for you on my Evo. The movement of the enemy ships is smooth, but when you tilt your own ship left and right, its very choppy and jumpy. The ships are also too big in comparison to the screen; when they appear, there is no way to get 2 ships at once or anything like that. If they were smaller, you'd be able to make it more difficult by making more on the screen, right now it's very easy to kill whatever is directly in front of you so you don't die just by spamming the shot. Give benefits for scoring well, otherwise we'll just run and survive. Good job, keep up the work! It's very exciting to see that someone without any programming knowledge is putting games out there, I hope this is the start of something big!
Sent from my EVO 4G running Azrael with the XDA app!
Installed on my Captivate running Perception 9.5 and runs fairly well.
Fun little game, great start. Gets a little choppy in the side to side movement and like the above post smaller ships would be great for more action and might help with the choppiness. And of course weapon upgrades for multi kills, etc.
Good job though, it is a nice little time killer. Thanks.

thanks zori, i was afraid of the choppy part, i thought it mightve just been my phone but the way appinventor uses the accelerometer is wierd, the only way i could get it to work was for it to disable itself, then have a timer firing in very short intervals to enable it, i will try to tweek it some more and see if i can get it to do better, or i have to option of touching and sliding the ship, but i like the accelerometer better.

i would love to learn java, ive actually been doing some tutorials with java the past couple days, trying to grasp it, but i have a lot to learn. the more i use appinventor the more i realize how limited it is, lots of stuff isnt possible, but using it has sparked a hunger to learn real programming like java.
im trying to do a little zombie shooter game, but the limited animation i can get is really bringing me down, you cant move around in the game but its interactive a little all windows can be shot out, car damage when you shoot it, you can shoot down he light pole, i would like to get animated sprite of zombie hordes coming down the center of the street, but the performance of appinventor just will not allow it, i have managed to get blood splatters when you kill zombies, and i have animated zombies coming down the street but appinventor just cant compute fast enough, tried every clock setting , just wont work, hers a screen, im till trying to tweak my starfighter game, so this probably wont been done for a while or ever if it doesnt work right in apinventor

Not a bad game for being made in app inventor! It is a bit glitchy running on the epic 4g but its a good game. I would make the shields go down quicker to make the game more challenging. Also add in powerupps and new guns. Good luck learning Java!

Great work when I wanted to make my first app I tried app inventor, although nice it is quite limited. If I were you, and I see you're quite serious about furthering this, then take it into Java, it'll be more meaningful down the road
Best wishes and nice work!

Alas, it's not perfectly optimized since you use up to jump instead of circle, but I've already contacted the developers to see if they'll move the exit game button to menu and make back jump (... as well as a few other things like putting it in the game launcher and giving the option to hide onscreen controls)... still, it works kinda nicely as is!
Looks like Castle Vania.. I don't like that game but since this is free I will definitely try this..

lol i jest... that's fine... different strokes for different folks.
Just out of curiosity though, which "type" of the Castlevanias made you dislike them? If it's the super slow older style CV games (or Castlevania 64) I can understand then... or do you just hate em all?
My all time faves are Castlevania Symphony of the Night & Metroid Fusion. I'll have to try this out! =)

Nah... I just notice a lot of people who hate Castlevania because of the *older style* of them. While some can tolerate the old style CV games, most think they are sluggish, antiquated, choppy and contain a lot of "fake" difficulty (which is usually just horrid physics combined with poor mechanics and terrible coding to make it harder than it needs to be) and it's very understandable why people would dislike those.
...my point is that those same people who hate the old style of CV games often end up loving the new style where Castlevania is turned into an Adventure/Platformer/RPG hybrid.
looks fun will try it out
This game is like fried chips. It's not good for anything (poor atmosphere, Engrish, prehistoric game mechanics and ridiculously easy difficulty) but it's addictive.
Worst game ever played, choppy game play, poor music, easy, poor chinese to english translation( at least it's wat i can think of). the most important part is, it can't be play when you're not connected to internet, and continue force me to play on chapter 2 (before Cerberus battle, which is er....buolosi, wat a crappy name)while i already reach chapter 4.
Yeah, gameplay has potential, and it's pretty, but ridiculously easy, and the English literally makes no sense.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Honestly, I expected the translation to be ass... now that I think about it, every Metroidvania after Symphony of the Night had some very "WTF?" cutscenes too that didn't make the story engaging at all...
...and that's what I expected... lame, unengaging story, topped with extravagant gameplay... and the actual game is definitely very fun.
One thing is an extraneous sentence from time to time, and another thing is the inability to follow the story. If the stories were completely moot, Alucard and Samus Aran would not be myths of gaming.

There's a reason I excluded Symphony of the Night in my above note.
As for Metroid... this might just be my opinion, but it seems no one really cared about the storyline in any of those games either. Super Metroid is the only traditional canon Metroid game that *kinda* had a somewhat developed story... for ages, Samus had barely any developed character or backstory... and when they actually tried to flesh it out (Metroid: Other M) people hated them for it.
I'm just sayin'... as much as this game could've benefitted from a good storyline (or a good enough translation so that we could care about it) people generally care more about the gameplay aspects than they do the characters or storyline.
Unless they have it in recent memory or specifically did a google search just to recall some detail, people might be hard-pressed to remember those subtle details about Super Metroid's storyline, but they sure as hell remember how rewarding it felt to get the Plasma Beam, Super Bomb, Super Missle, Screw Attack, the suit that allows you to withstand all that insane heat in Norfair and the ability to run at high velocities... vividly; no matter how long ago it was.

The Giana Sisters is the original SMB clone..they got into a lot of crap years ago, from nintendo, due to it.
This is one of the best games on Commodore64
Say what?! Yay!!
Giana Sisters was one of my absolute favorite C64 games back in the day. And yeah they got into a load of crap by Nintendo for being such a obvious rip-off.
The irony though is that Giana Sisters now has been released on the Nintendo DS.
An excellent game, well worth the money
I've picked this one up now and it plays very well. A great chance to own this if you never had the extremely rare DS version.
This is probably the best and most full featured game released on the Play so far. We all must support our device so since everyone here is a dedicated user PLEASE all pay the amount, which is slightly high for a throwaway phone game, but very low compared to the £40 I paid for the rare DS game (which it was worth) BUT this is not a throwaway phone game, this is a full featured console port from the DS and will last you for weeks!
We must support developers bringing full console games to the Play. In my book this is the first TRUE major release!
Also do not pirate this or any other Play games, we must keep sales strong so developers keep seeing us as an attractive Market.

I did not know this.
I believe the game was banned on c64. It was only released in Germany on DS as they wanted to keep it small worrying about what big N did to them before. It's been extremely rare on both previous consoles so we are lucky to be able to play it on toilet breaks in work
Are you serious? A Super Mario clone already available on iOS is the first major release of anything?
Seriously, people, we're not getting more than cheap ass games lately, but that doesn't mean we have to cheer for them.

Who said anything about this being a major release? Its a decent game, but also one of those "Seen better, seen worse." cases. What's the point of raining on people's enthusiasm if we just so happen to be enjoying a well-done clone?
"Already being on iOS" does not detract merit... not one bit.
If ya haven't been tuned in, touch controls are complete **** for most genres (platformers being one of the worst) to the point in which developers admit to watering down or subtracting from thr experience just to make a game work with touch controls, so anything Xperia PLAY adapts from iOS is something that's automatically a superior experience.
Relax, bro...it ain't that serious; its all fun n games, nahmeen?

I don't care if it was out on iOS as a lot of console ports are there that we don't have. This is a great first step and an awesome game. Platform games with touchscreen is AWFUL. Imagine how amazing XPlay Soosiz would be.
I bought Giana Sisters when it hit iOS and it was unplayable due to control issues. So it's hardly the same when this is a 9/10 release and the iOS was 3/10 cause of control being so poor

Maybe a little hyped up and over the top but it is important to remember it is a port of a DS game. This was originally a £30 DS game and received very good review scores. The iOS version was a port of the DS game too, so it's a little different from just any old iOS game that was originally made for that platform and released for £3.
I loved the game on DS so perhaps was over the top like I said so sorry for letting my nostalgia run wild!
That is a nice comment by the way I'm just glad to have somewhere to share my enthusiasm for the device. I love seeing new posts here and ive picked up a few from posts here too. Perfect forum to compliment Pocketgamer.co.uk as the best XP review site IMO

[GAME][3.1+] Flip the Bricks

Hi Everyone
I am new both to Xda developers, android, and developing in general in fact I only learned how to program 1 year ago. And so I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me and criticisms, suggestions or pointers! Here's the link to my game on the app store (it's a simple game):

EDIT:
Hi Everyone!
Thanks for trying my app. I have just updated it with more features, but I'm not sure whether these features are good or if they should actually be removed so I was wondering if you guys could play it and tell me your opinions on it! Thanks
1) Coins - So now there are coins that you can collect to buy skins of the bricks, I'm thinking of expanding this further by allowing the player to buy power-ups but we'll see.
2) Ads - Yeah so even though I get so few impressions/installs I do like implementing ads since it feel like I'm actually making a product. Anyways, I recently decided to switch from using admob with mediation of Leadbolt and decided to try Appodeal. Though I'm not sure how good this is. Not in terms of money of course but rather about the user experience. If you can let me know if there are any ads that are "****ty." (That's like the only word I could think of).
3) Difficulty - So yeah, I know some of you have said that it's already really difficult so I was just wondering if adding the coins to collect make it too difficult.
Things I've noted but have been too lazy to implement:
- Help dialog (yeah, it's very archaic and non informative)
- Some of the coloring (I personally think it looks ugly, but I don't know what colors to use)
- More mechanics/levels
So yeah long post but if anyone could help me by playing my app either again or for the first time, I'll be really thankful!
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!!!
All good, but screen often blink.

Could you please clarify what you mean by the screen blinking? Like when does it blink? Thanks
Hey. Just tried your game. Really like the clean graphics and one touch gameplay. Gets hard very fast! I don't mind but might scare some people off. Maybe you could make the balls go a little slower to begin with and then gradually increase speed. Just a sugestion
Great job! (will post review on Play)
Awesome app name [emoji12]
Indeed it's an interesing concept, I like it.
I don't have a lot of twitter followers, only around 200 or so, but I will tweet about your game if you want. Any particular message, hastags and link you would like me to use 1DEA?

Thanks for the review! Hmm so unless you are playing a really early version of my app (like the one I submitted to aptoide, I never bothered to update that since the interface is so clunky), one "spoiler" about the mechanics about the game is that all the balls take the same time to drop whether it's just one ball and brick, or many balls and bricks. The thing that actually changes is the intro delay, aka how long does it take from the starting animation for the ball to actually drop. You think that it would be better if instead I kept that delay constant and changed the speed from slow to fast, or do you think a mixture of the two would be more fun and enjoyable?

Haha anything would be amazing! But I have something to confess...I don't use twitter . And honestly it confuses me the whole deal with hashtags and stuff . But I guess something along the lines of challenging or difficult would be good lol. Thanks for taking the time to play my game!
Sure thing, we indie devs have to stick togheter, don't we?
Here is how I made your tweet look:

No worries. Oh that's cool, I didn't consider the intro delay, that's fine then I think to keep the speed constant. And I got a bit further when I played some more so I guess I just needed som practice. You got me when the whole thing started rotating though! That stuff really screws with your brain! I would maybe have eased that in a bit, starting with one brick/ball that's rotating, if I were you, to let the players get a feel for the new mechanic.

Hmmm I see cool thanks! I actually have more "levels" (I think they would be called levels lol) in mind and will implement them in the future! I will definitely add a rotating level for the early stages in order to get players more used to it at later stages.
Looks interesting, tried it out and it definitely is challenging. Good job on the app!

It's good and challenging, responding to your previous post, one thing I noticed is that maybe it gets a little too difficult, too fast. I find that the rotation of the bricks happens too quickly, maybe wait a bit longer before you introduce the rotation part, and probably slow it down just a little bit. Otherwise I think the game establishes a good challenge and is entertaining

Hmmm ok, I will adjust both the speed of the rotation and the difficulty progression of the game. Thanks for your input!
