I am having a problem with mms on Dream/G1. I am currently running the following CyanogenMod 5.0.8-DS on my phone. My APN settings are:
APN sp.telus.com
Proxy 74.49.0.18
Port 80
Username not set
Password not set
Server not set
MMSC http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
MMS proxy 74.49.0.18
Port 80
MCC 302
MNC 220
APN type default, mms
I have tried turning off wifi & GPS and still can't download a pic that was sent from Telus as a test. I am puzzled because internet and phone functions work ok so any help will be appreciated.

I have noticed that all the non stock ROMs insert a different default APN than what the Inspire had when it was stock.

After I Rooted and installed a new ROM, I changed the APN back to what it was originally (MediaNet/Phone), data was working fine but I could not send any MMS. Sadly I had never tried to send any MMS when the phone was stock so I am not sure if it was working originally.
So after some fiddling around I changed back to (MediaNet/wap.cingular) and now MMS go through fine but the data speeds seem slower.
So, my questions are
1. Those of you who are still stock, do you have any trouble sending MMS?
2. Those of you who are rooted, what APN are you using and have you tried sending MMS? Also, what are you results with data speeds if you have tried both APNs?
Guess I am the only one, LOL
Im experiencing the same problem, if i install a stock rooted ATT rom on my inspire. i average download speeds of around 2.1 Mb/s uploads are 0.2 Mb/s.... i installed cm7 rc1 and my download speeds remained around the same but the uploads jumped from 0.2 Mb/s to around 1.7 Mb/s..... then i decided to install the latest nightlies from CM7... i did a nandroid backup of my current rom and installed CM7 nightly 7 without wiping... now my upload speeds are fine but the downloads have gone to hell... barely averaging 0.4 Mb/s down ( this is with full bars).. reverted back to CM7 RC1 and still getting the same download speeds... i dont know whats going... i know that the APN settings on stock inspires are different then the ones we are using, but i was getting pretty nice speeds with these settings ... tried everything that i can to fix my download speed but they kinda seem stuck at 0.4 Mb/s
I have a few questions for people who are more knowledgable about these things
1) Stock inspires have a wirless proxy setting, which CM7 and DHD roms dont, in the APN. what does setting this option do.
2) I read somewhere that build.prop needs to be edited to enable HSUPA, by setting the value for ril.hsxpa to 3... i did that on the stock rooted rom and was getting better upload but the settings in CM7 are set to 2, and i am still getting the same speeds... which is better 2 or 3 ???
3) i have dialled *#*#4636#*#*, and set the radio default to US... is this even necassary or does it even help ??
thanks all
Count me in. Revolution 2.0.16 and I'm now working at dialup speeds. I'm ready to go back to stock. This device is too new to have stable ROMs it seems.
All you have to do is make one basic change. Under each APN, the last field (APN Type)determines what the APN is used for. For MediaNET(default Inspire APN, name of "phone", use "default, supl" without the quotes. Under wap.cingular, enter "mms" without the quotes. If done correctly, wap.cingular should not be selectable as an APN.
Data speeds are fine, and MMS works.
I am using CM7 with these settings.

I will try that out tonight when I upgrade to AR 2.1

I tried CM 7 on my infuse and really like it but can't seem to find an apn setting that works right for me. Default apn settings web browsing works but market says no conneciton retry. With the APN settings that were posted in the new to MIUI thread in general my market would work great but when I tried to browse the web it would say webpage blocked. So I was hoping I could get some folks who have CM7 running on their phones to post their APN settings for me to try out.
Thanks in advance.
This is working great for me...
4G(H+) speeds won't knock your socks off, but it's perfectly good for daily use.
Market, Browser, GPS, etc. -- Everything works consistently
I created a NEW APN (named AT&T), and left the two original ones alone
(password is CINGULAR1)
Fixed it myself for anyone who is interested the APN settings that finally worked right for me on CM7 were:
Name AT&T
APN: WAP.cingular
Proxy: Leave Blank
Port: Leave Blank
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MICC 310
MNC 410
Auth type blank
APN type blank
I dont have an MMS Protocol in my APN settings...
Since my update to 2.3.5 - sense 3.0 I am not able to send any MMS messages anymore. I have checked my setting with the wizards I could find on the Internet (and resetted my device numerous times) but it just doesn't seem to work anymore (Country: Belgium, Operator: Mobile Vikings). Has anyone got any idea of what might be wrong or is anyone experiencing the same problem?
might it be possible that your access point settings were somehow lost? check under settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > access point names and see if they are installed. if not, you'll have to check with your carrier for the proper settings.
if this is not the case, then i have no idea what might be wrong :S

Yeah its probably the APN settings. Every time I flash a new rom or get an update, mine are lost and I have to manually input them back in. I don't know what yours would be, but for anyone with this issue and with Rogers Canada, the APN settings are:
Data:
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
MCC: 302
MNC: 72 or 720
MMS:
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Server: 172.25.0.107
MMSC :http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 72 or 720
APN Type: mms
I had already thought about that, and tried to go through the settings again, but that didn't work. I followed all steps that I completed when I initially set up the phone, but this time mms didn't work. I sent a mail to the support of my operator too, I hope that they can help me. Not really a big loss, mms, but I did use it occasionally.
Hi everybody...I'm new to the forum, but have the same problem with some of the new roms for Desire S. For the moment I'm using Miui 2.4.6 and have no problem to send mms and to receive. I use the settings which have been given to me by my carrier. But, if I try one of the new custom roms, with the same settings, I'm able to send sms but can't send or receive any mms......does anybody knows what to do, because I would really like to flash the miui 4V for Desire S...
Try this. Set athentificationtyp to PAP. This works for me, Vodafone Germany.

Thank you Bulkatos...but on which one? Internet or MMS? Or both?
I will put my settings which I have currently for the Miui 2.4.6...perhaps sombody knows what to put in if I want to flash the [ROM] [27.04] MIUI v4 ICS - 2.4.27 - Android 4.0.4 - CM9 Kernel:
Data:
Name: Luxgsm Internet
APN: web.pt.lu
MCC: 270
MNC: 01
APN Type: default
APN Protocol: IPv4
MMS:
Name: Luxgsm mms
APN: mms.pt.lu
Username: mms
Password: mms
MMSC :mmsc.pt.lu (sorry but I'm not allowed to put in outside links so imagine the "http:" before the mmsc.pt.lu)
MMS Proxy: 194.154.192.88
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 270
MNC: 1
APN Type: mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
I would be really really happy if I could test some other custom roms, but as I have these mms issues, I prefer staying with a rom which has working messanger. Every idea is yelcome
for mms ;-)

Thank you for coming back to me regarding that issue. I flashed the Miui 4v 2.4.27 and tried what you suggested, but no change in the behaviour to send mms...the status of the mms remains in sending...do you have any other suggestion to do? As you can see, I posted my APN settings which I use on the 2.4.6 and which are working...
As I would be really happy to try some ICS custom roms, could some of you post their APN settings if you are able to post and receive mms on that rom. So I would be able to see why that doesn't work for me:::
Are you able to use internet without wi-fi?
If yes then try sending a mms without wi-fi to yourself...

Don't know if it makes any difference but my stock APN settings include "supl" in the TELUS SP APN Type field.
Case sensitivity also, especially for APN field (should be all lower-case)!
I have an unlocked Sprint Note 5 on cricket which is AT&T. Everything is working but I am unable to get 4G to connect. Is there any fix for this? I am currently rooted and running the MOAR Nougatized QC5 ROM. Thanks for the help.
1. Make sure you set APN for carrier you are on (below is ATT. Not sure about Crickett)
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
2. Call carrier and have them add your IMEI to system.
