Since my update to 2.3.5 - sense 3.0 I am not able to send any MMS messages anymore. I have checked my setting with the wizards I could find on the Internet (and resetted my device numerous times) but it just doesn't seem to work anymore (Country: Belgium, Operator: Mobile Vikings). Has anyone got any idea of what might be wrong or is anyone experiencing the same problem?
might it be possible that your access point settings were somehow lost? check under settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > access point names and see if they are installed. if not, you'll have to check with your carrier for the proper settings.
if this is not the case, then i have no idea what might be wrong :S

Yeah its probably the APN settings. Every time I flash a new rom or get an update, mine are lost and I have to manually input them back in. I don't know what yours would be, but for anyone with this issue and with Rogers Canada, the APN settings are:
Data:
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
MCC: 302
MNC: 72 or 720
MMS:
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com

MMSC :http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 72 or 720
APN Type: mms
I had already thought about that, and tried to go through the settings again, but that didn't work. I followed all steps that I completed when I initially set up the phone, but this time mms didn't work. I sent a mail to the support of my operator too, I hope that they can help me. Not really a big loss, mms, but I did use it occasionally.
Hi everybody...I'm new to the forum, but have the same problem with some of the new roms for Desire S. For the moment I'm using Miui 2.4.6 and have no problem to send mms and to receive. I use the settings which have been given to me by my carrier. But, if I try one of the new custom roms, with the same settings, I'm able to send sms but can't send or receive any mms......does anybody knows what to do, because I would really like to flash the miui 4V for Desire S...
Try this. Set athentificationtyp to PAP. This works for me, Vodafone Germany.

Thank you Bulkatos...but on which one? Internet or MMS? Or both?
I will put my settings which I have currently for the Miui 2.4.6...perhaps sombody knows what to put in if I want to flash the [ROM] [27.04] MIUI v4 ICS - 2.4.27 - Android 4.0.4 - CM9 Kernel:

I would be really really happy if I could test some other custom roms, but as I have these mms issues, I prefer staying with a rom which has working messanger. Every idea is yelcome
for mms ;-)

Thank you for coming back to me regarding that issue. I flashed the Miui 4v 2.4.27 and tried what you suggested, but no change in the behaviour to send mms...the status of the mms remains in sending...do you have any other suggestion to do? As you can see, I posted my APN settings which I use on the 2.4.6 and which are working...
As I would be really happy to try some ICS custom roms, could some of you post their APN settings if you are able to post and receive mms on that rom. So I would be able to see why that doesn't work for me:::
Are you able to use internet without wi-fi?
If yes then try sending a mms without wi-fi to yourself...

I have been reading this & various forums and having rooted My LG Optimus One weeks ago just installed the Megatron v1 rom yesterday. Amazing rom with a definite 100% speed improvement over the default Telus LG ROM.
I went in the setup my APN setting to get Internet (Over 3G) & MMS messaging working and ran into a snag. The default MNC setting is "37" but Fido (My Provider) seem to require "370" instead. Any attempt at entering the 3rd digit and selecting "Save" results in being sent back to the APN list with the APN I was working on erased & no longer there.
I cannot get 3G internet or MMS messaging working at all with this bin but they were working fine with the default. I am in Quebec, Canada if that will help.
Please find below the setting I was attempting to use which worked on the default bin.
Any help or insight would be appreciated as I love this rom & would like to keep it if at all possible.

Loaded Prime V2 instead and tried HiAPN & APN Manager. Works like a charm. Thanks for the heads up.
Hi guys, just got the new Infuse. I can't get data/3G. Voice works. I went into the APN settings, and there are two apns. One is called ATT Phone and one ATT WAP. I cannot choose between the two, I cannot delete them, I cannot edit them, I cannot add a new APN. Looking at the ATT WAP apn is missing the username and password, and I guess that's why it doesn't work.
I've never encountered an android device where I couldn't modify the apns, so I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Thanks!
What provider are you using?
Look in the market for apn. I forget the name of it, but there are several apn managers in the market that will let you backup and edit your apn some Android phones require two to work it seems. And if memory serves one of them is mostly blank.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
I'm using ATT. I played around it some more, and finally it let me save a new APN and I'm able to select it, so now everything works fine...
That was the normal setting for the phone as you described.
It should not have been a need for you to edit anything. My phone had the same settings and worked fine.
I have the same problem. Can you give me an instruction of how to fix it?
I just went to setting>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
Then i added the new APN that my service provider her in the Dominican Republic gave me.
Have not reset the phone or tried anything yet.
Is this the correct process? WHere have you guys been trying to change it that it will not let you?
Here are the exact setting that work for me..

Rocky.
Rocky is correct. I was having a similer issue and I have to add a new wntry by going to the Apn and adding a 3rd one like this. The name did not matter as I called mine test and used the same setting that Rocky posted (I got them from youtube shwing how to add it).
Now I have 3 APN and it works correctly.
THANK YOU!!! I am on infused 2.2.3 and everything was working peachy until a few days ago when I could no longer connect to data. I could get phone calls, but no data. I tried flashing a new modem, tried a new kernel, and was fixin to restore to stock because I didn't know what else to do until I say Rocky's post with the APN settings. This worked like a charm. Thanks again!!!
I was going to post this the other day but wanted to make sure it worked first. I stumbled onto this post in the SGS2 forums which gives the simplest solution that have given me the best result. The other suggested APN settings I've seen in various threads never worked for me. I wouldn't expect as monumental a jump in bandwidth as he shows, but it seems to be doing well otherwise.
[FIX] AT&T SGS2 Data Speed Issue's (Correct APN Settings)
Tgrifftto, did you try and successfully use those apn's on an infuse? I tried them and didn't get a connection, I'm running CM7.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
I used them with the Infused v2.2.3 ROM and they worked well. I flashed to GSInfuse 1.1.5 today however to try on there because the last time I flashed this ROM it was bouncing sporadically between 3G and HSPA+ and was hoping it would alleviate that issue. So far no luck.
The settings suggested before is one of the default APNs (can also be set by hitting "menu/reset to default" on the APN settings screen), so may be what you wanna go with if it works for you. Another option I found that has worked for several people is along with the default settings specified previously including the following settings as well:
User name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
It seems to definitely be a "results may vary" kindof thing.

I actually tried that myself and had MMS issues, but I think I have a working hybrid of the two. I have been getting decent speeds and MMS works but I have been getting erratic results and need to test more.
Edit: Ok so dont judge me on this if it doesn't do anything for you but the data seems convincing to me for the moment. I tweaked a few things that have been posted previously and one thing in particular seems to have changed things for me. I removed the http:// from the MMSC server address and dropped the specified MMSC Proxy. I honestly don't know why it would have altered the routing so drastically and I do not have a traceroute to show if it maps differently this way but the attached shows the results I'm getting and for some reason adding the http:// and the specified MMS proxy (66.209.11.32) always slows me down noticeably. I cant measure my signal loss (other than on the phone) to see if anything else happens to be interfering when I have the http:// and the proxy address in place (cloud bounce reflectivity, solar flares, increase usage on the high tension lines between me and the tower) but these results are what I get every time I swap settings. The bottom 3 results on the attached are with http:// and proxy included and the top 4 are without it. Phone was sitting on my desk in the same place for all tests with the only changes (I could control anyway) being the APN setting. You'll see my ping times are almost identical so my routing couldn't have changed very drastically, but the numbers mean something is different.
Here are the settings I am using
Name: ATTINTMMS (just what I called it call it whatever you want)

Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80

I havent tried it but i posted a possible solution in the miui thread...my apn settings disappeared after i flashed pikachus thunderbolt but reappeared after a restart....i dont think that your problem is that easy tho?
Also when you finally figure it out, i read in the Thunderbolt thread that changing APN from "wap.cingular" to "phone" will increase data speeds....according to linuxbozo
Hope this helped

yea the "phone" thing does give me faster speeds. i still get cut out a lot though i love how tech support doesnt know sh*t lol. its been happening to me on all roms.
Guys, one thing to note is that CM7 (and in turn MIUI), don't like multiple APNs. AT&T runs their ROMs with two different APNs, keeping the data APN separate. This is fine on any ROM based on AT&T's releases, however, if you try to use two on CM7, you'll likely run into issues. The best thing to do is disable the "phone" APN and only use the "wap.cingular" APN. If you have both on your phone, you can do this by adding "default" to the list of APN types for the "wap.cingular" APN (or you should be able to entirely delete, just make sure to add default to "wap.cingular").
If you do run an AT&T based ROM, I highly suggest you do use both with "wap.cingular" for mms and supl APN types, and "phone" for default. This is the absolute only "trick" you can do to make the phone's data a little faster (since build.prop changes don't do anything).
Here are the details for both:
"wap.cingular" APN:
Name: ATT MMS
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310

Authentication type: Not set
APN type: mms, supl (and default if you are only using this APN)

Username: Not set
Password: Not set

I notice a definite increase in response time with the "phone" APN. Pages seem to load a lot faster, regardless of what actual speed increases it gives you, so I recommend using that if you aren't on CM7 or MIUI. If you are, well, stick to single APN or else you'll see data issues, especially in Market.

It's not "internet + mms", you specifically type in "internet, mms". It is just a text field. You have to type in what you want. Actually, "internet + mms" may be a valid setting in that field, but I've always seen it comma separated, so that's what I'd stick to. I'm not sure what valid APN types there are, the ones I know of are mms, supl, internet, and default. default obviously being the catch all for anything not configured in another APN.

See, I thought I remembered one of them needing the username and password, however, I don't have one in my phone and it seems to work just fine. *shrug* Whatever works I suppose! But yeah, on MIUI just stick to single APN. I would assume not setting the APN Type would cause it to automatically default to everything using that APN (if it's the only one).
im one of the infuse owners and i noticed something with the signal issue ive been having for a very long time. data fix didnt work for me nothing seemed to work for me. the best results i get is with KI3 modem. also when i try to set "network type selection" to 3G only sometimes it automatically resets to 3G preffered which is what gives me the issues. but the thing i noticed is i have these severe issues of service cutting in and out when i am on umts. when i force my phone on hsdpa my download speeds almost triple my calls r beautifully clear no cutting in and out. any thought on this? is there a way i can have my phone on hsdpa only? and default the setting to 3G only in network settings? thanks in advance for any input i would really like to solve this

I don't know if this helps or not, but It seems like people with American Carriers, or T-mobile tend to not have issues with MMS. I don't know if this would work, but maybe comparing APN settings and seeing if anything is missing may work?
Settings -> More.. -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names ->
at this point I had three or three options...
I assume they were: T-Mobile, T-Mobile Data, and T-Mobile MMS
Now since I use Simple Mobile, I had to change the T-Mobile to Simple Mobile with all the correct settings, and for MMS to work I also had to change the T-Mobile MMS APN with the same exact settings as the Simple Mobile APN.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
One other way you may try, after putting all the correct settings;
Where is says APN Type, write "mms" (without quotes)
Give it a try. Hope it helps.
Problem is, I'm on Bell Canada...

I'm on Wind and I cant neither send nor receive mms but I think my settings are correct since the phone detected it automatically. Any ideas ?
I am with O2 uk and also had this issue. I contacted them and they emailed their latest apn settings to me, which I copied in to my settings and my mms then worked fine. I think when some custom roms search for the apns automatically they pick up out of date settings. Just phone your carrier and ask for the apn settings for mms as if you are getting internet but no mms on several roms it can only be due to incorrect apn.

For those having trouble with Rogers, I wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out why I couldn't send/receive MMS. Solution for me was this:
1. USE ONLY THIS APN, DELETE ALL THE OTHER APNS - For some reason, it conflicted and when I deleted all the other unnecessary APN's it worked great again. Here's what I used and ONLY this one for Rogers Canada. The internet.com apn doesn't work for me, fortunately I found this one that works!
Name: Rogers MMS

MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69

MNC: 720
Problem still exists, any ideas?

Can't seem to send or receive mms. I'm on a T-Mobile pre-paid account. Had the same issue when I had my iPhone but installed a settings fix for it. I've searched multiple forums and found nothing to help. Everything else works fine. It's just mms hangs when trying to send/receive messages. Would like to know how to resolve this issue.
make sure u have the right apn settings for your carrier. Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, and google the aon settings for T-Mobile, then use menu and add, then input and reboot

Still hangs when trying to send message.
Think I figured out the problem. I don't have data or mms on my prepaid account. Weird because I didn't for my iPhone but still could send/receive mms. If anyone could explain this please do. Otherwise please lock/delete this thread. Thanks

Hey all,
I've been having this issue with my phone not sending or downloading picture messages. Well, I am using Wind Mobile for demo, but it should work for others (prove me correct, by clicking the "thanks" button):
1. Add internet.windmobile.ca as APN #1
2 APN #2:
Name: Wind CA MMS
APN: mms.windmobile.ca
MMSC: http://mms.windmobile.ca
MMS Proxy: 74.115.197.70
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 302
MNC: 490
Type: LEAVE THIS BLANK!
The problem with mine was the type was set to mms.
When you're done, make sure that this APN (because my phone only lets me select 1 APN, so select internet when you need internet, and mms when you need mms) is selected when you need to download/send MMS (and maybe a quick airplane mode network refresh). This ain't the prettiest way, but it gets the job done!
Hope this help.
Cheers.

This is actually pretty useful because in some ROMs the APNs are written wrong. For example, on my parent's phone I have to manually edit Straight Talk's T-Mobile APN.
