Hi guys. New to this forum
So I have a few issues regarding my arc:
1. Camera not working, after I launch camera app, it turns black without responding so I have to reboot the phone.
2. The Home button does not work, only works to unlock the phone when it's locked(not in use). But I can not use it to get home to "desktop" when I'm using an app, I have to use the "back" button.
3. Plugging the arc to the PC does not work at all neither, the "popup" in the phone does not show up when i plug it in the PC, it only starts to charge the phone. At the computer, it fails to install the MTP USB driver.
All this happened when I reset the phone to factory defaults and formatted everything. The phone started up fine, like a new phone but those 3 problems showed up. It is probably because the phone was rooted when I reset to factory defaults.
What is my next step? Possible to recover to the original OS? I have not taken any backups(silly me) before I did anything neither.
Thanks in advance!
Had the same problem, I flashed the phone, using LT15i_4.0.1.A.0.283_Generic Global. Everything is working properly now. Hope that helps.

How was this done? Do I need to connect the phone to the computer? If so, it will be a issue because I can not connect it to my computer anymore.
Can anyone give me link to the flash tool that works on my arc?
I Have the same problem. Please, someone help me...
Just reflash firmware with SEUS
I seriously can't find SEUS anywhere to my phone. And will it be possible to flash it because I can't connect the phone to my computer without issues.
What happens in device manager when you click "back" with turned off phone and connect cable?
nothing happens on my phone, but I can't turn the phone on if I do it that way, I have to replug the charger to be able to turn it on. On my computer it said it failed to install the driver.
It's quite of an emergency atm. I can't recieve calls anymore, the phone hangs up on people when they call me automatically, but I can call them without a problem. I can see in my call log if anyone has tried to call me aswell.
Need some more help guys
Super thanks in advance.
Problem solved! The ones who still have this problem follow this guide :
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/tutorial-how-to-flash-a-firmware-using-flashtool-on-xperia-arc/
don't download the firmware that is on that guide but use this : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VS2D704A
Worked perfectly!
Flashing with SEUS would have done exactly the same thing

Really? Can you link it to me? According to the SE website, SEUS does not exist to xperia arc.
SE PC Companion could not find my arc when I plugged it into my PC, but flashtool did. So I guess SEUS would'nt detect my phone neither.
Lol flashed my girlfriends arc with seus last night, go to se site pick any phone model w995 etc and software downloads then download seus. When the program opens select arc and follow instructions. Either that or use flashtool and just flash new firmware it does the same

Would SEUS find my phone when the Companion doesnt anyway?
It should do as for PC companion you have your phone turned on and SEUS/flashtool etc you turn your phone off
Hi there.
Yesterday, for no apparent reason de device stopped syncing my Gapps data. OEM 2.1 ROM. I did a backup and reset the device to factory defaults. Even if battery went to 100% and the USB cable were connected, the phone did not finished the process and now I have a non turning on mini pro. Mac does not feel it, neither Windoze or Linux with dmesg. PC Companion won´t see it neither. Neither FlashTool. I tried to flash it with the original ftf but the phone do not turn on and of course FlashTool won't see it. Tried pressing home and on/off but nothing. I searched like a dork for "bricked xperia x10 mini pro" but there´s a lot of crowd calling a semi-bricked, bricked. Which is not, because a semi-bricked can be repaired with SEUS or even FlashTool.
I know is a whole different animal, but once I bricked a Nokia and with some trickery the device came to life.
Guys, you`re my only hope. I really like this phone for texting and everything.
Thank you for reading. Best regards.
Bump!
Please help me out! At least tell me anything.
Thanks.

What do you mean?
When PC Campanion says "hold back key and connect phone to USB" then It detects the device.
I have bricked SE Xperia X10 mini pro, same simptoms phone doesn't react to anything it's absolutely silent, no image, no text.
And yes I tried SEUS, PC Companion, Flashtool (with ggsetup) and Omnius. Nothing hepled.
May be a battery is down but I can't check it as well.
Same here. The phone doesn't react to "off" button, No LEDs, no display, no sound, won't get recognized by Flashtool when USB plugged in with "back" held, a total, real brick, dark and dead and invisible to all software.
The battery was full - it was full when the phone got bricked by installing a kernel for ICS.

I have the same problem please help:crying:
When you put the tick called "preloader" in Flashtools - then the phone is dead... now only jtag method may can help you(in some phone service)
I remember that one morning I found my Xperia Arc S with stock GB 2.3.4 rom like dead although it was fine when I plugged the charger in before I slept. In the morning I couldn't turn it on, removing and replacing battery did nothing. No light when I charged it. It was really looking like it was forever dead. After a few days, in despair, I tried every reset method I could find about Xperia phones, except the one that finally worked:
I holded the back or menu button (I forgot which one) then plugged in the USB cordon to the computer. I got a green or blue light! I learned later that it was Fastboot mode or Flash mode. Then I unplugged the device, and it started like if nothing happened. I only had this problem once again. Since I rooted it and installed a custom rom, I never had this issue again.
If you didn't try this yet, that is worth trying
Bricked Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro (U20)

I tried the PC Companion Repair, but it won't go past the "press and hold the back Key"
Because my PC won't recognize my Phone. (I had the SEMC USB drivers installed already)
Please help!!! Thank you

best solution is to find a person who can jtag
I have the Xperia L (C2105) with latest firmware (.14 not .17 because in my country for some reason .17 is not yet available).\
I am trying to connect into flashmode but I can't.
Phone is accessible throuh Sony PC Companion. When I plug it Windows (7) recognize it .
I am trying with SUS but with no luck.
This is what I do.
(usb cable is plugged into PC)
1. Switch off phone completely. Screen goes black and phone does not respond.
2. Press and hold volume down
3. Insert usb into phone slot.
nothing happens.
I guess I should see led goes green, or phone switching on, or PC showing a pop-up dialog? In any case phone remains off and SUS can't go on to the next step after connection. Is there any problem with the phone?
PS: I also tried factory reset.
Any help would be appreciated.
OK, I managed to connect in flashmode. What I do is press once or twice the power switch while holding volume down.
Isn't it weird?

Okay, I think i've a similar problem. I cannot connect my device in flashmode. WHenver i try to do, the led just blinks red and then green, then nothing happens. Could you please elaborate how you managed it?
Hi, to be honest, I can't remember. This phone was one of the worst phones I 've ever owned. Camera was blurry, mic was not working. I didn't even bother to fix it. I threw it to the recycle bin. And I always take good care of my gadgets. That phone was the reason not to buy a Sony phone ever again. I now own a LG G2 and I am perfectly happy.
Anyway, I think I remember trying many times until it finally connected. I did various things, but the actual reason it finally connected was luck. Yes, luck. Try it many times and if you are lucky enough, you will manage connection. Or give it to someone else and buy a proper phone.

First power off the phone.
Then continuously press volume down button while connecting the USB cable to the phone.
(as i remember the phone led color may turned green when it's in flashmode)
Then check 'Flashtool' log, it will be saying 'device connected in flashmode'.
happy flashing.

Exactly, if you see red, green and then nothing, it means your device is in flashmode. Open up flashtool and get flashing! It will say device connected in flashmode

Driver issue. In the folder of flashtool, you'll find a sub folder called Drivers, run the file in it and select flashmode drivers and Common Drivers for taoshan. In Device Manager, your device may be listed as S1 Boot service or something. Update device driver to SEMC Flash device which should be under Sony Entertainment Mobile Communications, in all devices.

Thank you so much bro, for all your help. I really appreciate it. I have flashed stock rom hundreds of times over the span of 3 years (yeah i bought the phone as soon as it was released into the market and unlocked the bootloader soon after). So I think I would have know if it was a driver problem. But it's not. It's all about secondary bootloader which I screwed up while installing TWRP into the FOTAKernel partition (which I did not backup the original). For more info, check the link below

Hmm, that's new. I didn't think such a thing could happen. Thanks mate!
hi everybody,
I left my phone charging in the night(it was on) and when i came to take it in the morning (it was off)... i tried to turn it on but it didn't turn on!
(IM USING ORIGINAL SONY CHARGER AND USB THAT CAME WITH IT)
when I plug it in to a charger the LED turns green (that means that the battery is at 90% or above)
i tried power and volume up (hard reset) but it didn't work!
when i connected to my computer it wasn't detected....(tried all USB ports)
Also, i tried to enter Flashmode and Fastboot mode.. and none of them worked!
Xperia companion didn't detect it....
I tried to turn it on several times but it didn't work!
i even tried all buttons combination (power, both volumes ) all together, and nothing worked!
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
please anyone have an idea or any suggestion that might help!
all your suggestions are so much appreciated!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I used to be a bit similar to your situation, but its power indicator is not lit. Pressing other buttons did not respond. I also tried to connect it to the computer, but still didn't respond. I had no choice but to send it back to the after-sales service. The response I got was that the power IC was damaged.

doesnt seem like something that can be fixed on a software level, you need to send it to sony to fix it if youre under warranty.

It's a long story, but bought an XZ from Toby Deals ( never ever use those rip off merchants ).
Decided not to want to turn on just before the year warranty ran out. Red flashing LED whilst charging, white Sony screen comes up, then goes off again, repeats ad infinitum. Obviously tried all the usual volume up/power button resets and this actually responds with the one buzz/three buzz response. Original charger and even a brand new battery - no change.
Didn't want to send back to Singapore, so tried Sony support who advised to send to Sony UK repair center.
I sent it in, came back as 'can't repair due to non UK model'.
Advised Sony on line support again, who promised me it would be looked at if sent in again.
Did that and they sent it back repaired and working ( no hardware ) - reflashed ?? Happy for three days.
Same thing happened after three days / same symptoms as before
Sent in again, sent back as 'non UK model' again. Started to cry
Informed Toby Deals who now don't want to know, as now a few moths past warranty expiry date.
Now I have a bricked expensive phone and have had since January. What a waste of money.
All I want to do, is whatever Sony UK repairers did in their factory.
No detection on PC and Companion either, which I feel is a big problem for any reflashing ideas.
Any ideas anybody please ?

Your phone is still booting, so the boot partition is still ok.
Download newflasher.
Install the Sony ADB drivers, to do this you will need to boot your Windows10 into safe mode and use 'driver signing disabled'
Read up on Xperiafirm, download the latest firmware for your region.
Put a copy of the Newflasher into the firmware download folder.
Unplug your phone from the PC.
Turn your phone off completely Power and Vol up (+) until it vibrates three times.
Run the newflasher and when prompted, plug your phone back in while holding the Volume up (+). Once the process has started you can let go.
Good luck
If you see any led light , try to use pc companion ( if your phone is not unlocked ) and if you have unlocked bootloader try to use xperifix to download the latest software for your phone and then flash it using newflasher ( don't forget to have the Sony USB drivers on your computer ) pls tell us if it works to find another way to fix your smartphone.

Thanks for the info Didgesteve.
I am running through this now, but the firmware within Xperiafirm is a little light on the F8332 version ( dual sim ).
The single sim F8331 has lots more options including one for UK Virgin Mobile, which could be mine. The only other option for the 8332 is the Central Europe 1 CE1 option, which I don't think it is. Any advice please ? I am trying to find it on the Sony site, as @IgorEisberg states "XZ F8331 and F8332 are on the sony server now"

It doesn't matter which region you have as long as the model number is the same, it's not locked to any language. The language can be chosen on start up, from a fresh install.
Central Europe 1 CE1 will be just fine.

I am using Windows 10 and when I requested recovery reboot, it does give me a safe boot option ( option 5 I think ), but it also gives me a 'disable driver signing' option too and you can't opt for both.
I have actually tried to boot in both modes and the newflasher does the same thing - see attached screenshot
Not sure what more I can do, to get these drivers on. I have also run in developer mode and set USB device discovery to on, to no avail.
If device manager never sees the phone, how will I ever be able to install the drivers.
The newflasher, asks to install Gordongate and it doesn't matter if I select yes or no, it still says no usb device.
I am running newflasher from here :
C:\Xperia firmware\F8332_Customized CE1_1315-4550_41.3.A.2.171_R1E
...........but I have tried to run it from the driver folder too.

Windows10, boot into safe mode, choose 'disable driver signing' in the advanced menu, start the computer and install the Sony drivers. If that doesn't work, answering yes to the first question in Newflasher creates a new drivers zip folder within the Newfalsher folder. Install these drivers, again with driver signing disabled.
When you put the phone into flash mode and plug it in to your PC, what does it say in the device manager?

Thanks for your reply Didgesteve.
I installed the drivers by installing the sa0115adb.inf successfully, but as the phone is continuously cycling through a 'Sony' white screen and blank screen ( frequency 3secs of each ), device manager does not seem to 'see' anything at all.
I also installed the ggsommc.inf driver, when prompted and answered as a 'ye's for the GordonGate option. It didn't give me a failure message, but also didn't state 'installed successfully' as the sa0115adb one did.
I also tried another generic driver called android_winusb.inf to no avail.

Maybe is just the flex, one day my phone fell and I paid for repair, but when it happen again, I disassembly the phone and just conect the flex.
Solved.
Here's how for future reference if someone encounters a similar issue.
1. Disconnect battery and reconnect it
2. Download and install Xperia Companion Tool from Sony (tested on Mac, but the Windows version should work as well)
3. Choose Repair Software/Xperia on the Companion tool
4. Connect phone to computer using a USB cable
5. Disconnect phone when the Xperia splashscreen appears.
Done.
