[Q] Boot android Honeycomb on standard laptop - is it possible?

I have done some searching but couldn't really find any good answers to my question.
I would like to know if it would be possible to have android honeycomb as the main boot os for my laptop which I would want to then link directly to my TV for the picture output.
Has anyone ever tried anything like this?
How do i go about it if it is possible, I have read about the android live CD boot for PC's but these look old, will they work for Honeycomb, and wouldn't it be better to have it directly running from the harddrive.
Another concern of mine is would honeycomb os on a PC use the mouse and keyboard inputs with no touchscreen being possible / available, and would the USB / cdrom, TV outputs, wireless and network cards etc all be recognised and useable by Honeycomb?
That's a very good idea, I'd like to know more about this

For such purpose (Android as TV set top box) I would rather use some Hardware like i.e. BeagleBoard. There's also an Android port available (http://code.google.com/p/rowboat/) which is currently running FroYo. I'm sure there will also be Gingerbread, Honeycomb, etc. in the future.
I would rather not purchase new hardware if I don't need to. I have this laptop doing nothing and want to put it to use this way if possible.

I would like to know the answer for this question too
i'm a fan of bigscreen
i plan to purchase acer iconia 6120 dual screen laptop if somehow i can manage to get honeycomb installed on standard laptop
or maybe later with windows 8
hmmm, yummy
I think Honeycomb still needs to use the touchscreen now and then, even with a keyboard and mouse. You might want to try Chrome OS, since that's designed for laptops.
err, acer iconia 6120 is a dual touchscreen laptop
you got laptop hardware but both touchscreen with virtual keyboard
thats why i brought up honeycomb, since its touch based
and windows 8 prolly in the future
Since a view weeks there is an Acer Aspire One with Win 7 Starter and Android as dualboot.
Maybe it is now possible to get Android on standard Notebooks?!

iam realy interessted in this, so umpup:
is it possible to run a honeycomb as main boot on a laptop? because why booting win and co if u just wanna check some emails, vistit some websites and i dont know ( yeah i know u can do this all with your smartphone, but wouldnt it be exiting to have it on your laptop too ? )
I have an old laptop and would love to have Android running on it, also my TV is running a customized version of Linux, i wonder if it would be possible to incorporate Android OS into it too. It's a Philips TV and some of their newer models are Android based.
Last weekend I got some Toshiba netbook (Nvidia Tegra chipset) on my hands running Froyo. A normal screen (no touch) and a keyboard just like normal netbooks. It was a pain in the a** to work with. I don't think Honeycomb will change that, since it's optimized for tablets. However, a combination of a touchscreen and a hardware keyboard would be nice, though.
Anyway, it should be possible to run Android on x86 devices, too, but I don't see any point for doing so. Why not just install Ubuntu?

My Optimus V is android-native (upgraded to CM7 with zefie Xionia kernel,) which I do use for phone functions and browsing; but for the past week or so I've been running Debian (first squeeze now sid) on it...
first a chroot while experimenting and getting Squeeze set up, now no chroot needed, can run Debian apps straight from the terminal, and non-driver-required functions. 3G Net access works. Haven't messed around with the wifi or bluetooth in Debian yet since I don't use 'em much.
working on getting x11 running native, since VNC access is slow and bites (works but no sound and gnash gives me a blank frame. I want flash compatibility, blast it!.) Anyone wants to help with native X on the Optimus V, let me know.
I'd post a howto and scripts and such, but I haven't hit my 10-post count yet here on XDA because of the limits on where I can post and I'm not gonna spam post just to get my count up. Why waste space spamming so I can post in appropriate locations just 'cause there's a protection against spammers which would force me to either spam or post silly/unimportant data? Once I eventually hit 10 posts in some way I feel is appropriate to do it, I'll put up a howto for anyone interested.

[Q] Social hub?

hey guys a friend of mine that works on tmobile is testing out the samsung hercules (suppost to be the sgs2)
and it comes with samsung social hub. i was playing with it and its kinda cool..
i was wondering if i can get that app on my g2x.. just like i did with Media Hub and works fine...
but at the moment i cant find social hub anywhere on the web
in order to get it you need a dump of the os so it can be extracted. then you need one of the many intelligent individuals on here to make it compatible w/our phone.
I doubt it will work. I think it's built into the Samsung Framework, that is. Unless someone can port it over to stock Android.
Tell that 'friend' of yours who works at "T-Mobile" to dump the rom so we can get a look at it.

[Q] Android port to the Pre 3

Hello everybody,
I was wondering something... If Android can be put on the touchpad, can it be also ported to the Pre 3 which is running WebOS too ?
Actually, I miss a GPS navigation app on WebOS like the one I used to have on my previous Android phone.
Thank you for your answers,
Simon.
It probably can (i think i heard somewhere that the bootloader was unlocked too, like the touchpad)
I have got HD2 since 20 months now, I am thinking about changing it to Pre3, because I like design of the phone, also WebOS looks sleek and decent, however I will miss android functionality. I would like to see Port similar to HD2 android then It would be PERFECT phone to me.
It would be nice to see ICS ported to the Pre 3. Since the Nexus Prime doesn't require hardware buttons it would share a similar layout as the Pre 3, same with the notification light.
In a dream world it would be nice to utilize the gesture area in the Pre 3 in Android as well.
What would be needed to start something like this? Create a bootloader? I'd imagine people would like to dual boot similar to the touchpad but idk if we would be able to use mboot on the Pre 3 as well as the TP.
Tim
I, too, an interested in this and will test anything when i have the time for any devs working on it
I was wondering this too. webOS is generally the same all around. I dont see why it couldnt. That would be awesome to have a phone that dual boots webOS and Android.
how about alien dalvik port, now that webos may live on.

[Q] Galaxy S 4G ~ About Gingerbread/Mods & WiiMote Use

Hello, I'm fairly new to the Android OS (just got this GS4G last week, and it is my first android) so I'm pretty noobish to all of this and searching these forums and the web have only gotten me so far. I currently have a few questions that I did not find answered anywhere else (for this device at least).
I have the official 2.3.6 Gingerbread just released awhile back and realized that my TV out seemingly doesn't work (tried red, yellow, and white for video). I have no idea if it worked before I left Froyo but I'm just wondering is it supposed to work now (not really looking to troubleshoot this; I just want to know)?
Is there any Mods that allow the use of the Wii Controller? I know CyanogenMod is not released for the GS4G.
And, does the MIUI mod allow the use of a Wii Controller?
Thank You in advance.
