[Q] HTC Dream Screen Freezes When Keyboard Is Open - General Questions and Answers

I recently bought a used HTC Dream from ebay that was working perfectly for the first 2 days, until i rooted and flashed CM 5. Shortly after the screen started to freeze as soon as I opened the keyboard and if I pressed any buttones or taped anything on the screen nothing would happen until I slid the keyboard back in, as if it were "catching up". I tried reseting and flashing the original firmware and nothing seemed to fix this problem. I am currently running CM 6 RC1 and have to use the on screen keyboard. Has this happened to anyone? I tried google and the only problems I have seen don't seem to have a fix. Thanks in advance.

Anyone, please?

Keyboard random issues?

Guys, a week ago my ohone started to act strange.
Randomly it does't detect the letter I'm trying to press on the screen. if i switch it to landscape it works perfectly, and when I go back to portrait the problem is still there.
It gets fixed by it's own or if I restart the phone, but it's starting to be annoying.
I'm on the stock Rom btw.
Same problem
I've been having the same problems but I think it has only happened to me when I use custom ROMs such as Cyanogenmod or Coredroid. When I went back to stock I don't remember it happening.
I was running Coredroid V8.1 a few weeks ago and didn't like it because the font looked terrible but I think the keyboard didn't give that problem, it was with an older version of CD. Right now I am using Cyanogenmod 7.0 and it happens a lot and gets annoying. I now for a fact that is not hardware since the keyboard will work normally on landscape and other stuff will respond to the touchscreen.
Still trying to see if there is some sort of fix or to use a new keyboard. Installed GO keyboard and same thing happened, now using Swiftkey X and it happened also but now I took the protective case to see if that has something to do with it LOL.

[Q] Strange Problem

so ive had my evo shift for awhile and no problems with it.. well last night when i went to pull out my keyboard to reply to a text mesage my touch screen stopped working.. and i do mean all the screen including the home, menu, back, and search buttons.. so i pulled the battery off and was able to get the buttons working, but everytime i pull the keyboard out it does the same thing as before. so i thought it might have been the rom so i reflashed miui and still the have the same problme. i went ahead and flashed shiftdeck and still same problem. now if i dont open up the keyboard im able to use the phone as normal, but really annoying which is why i opted for the shift due to the keyboard.. has anyone experienced this or can point me in the right direction?

Is it completley turning off? Black screen?
If it is there have been a couple other threads about this.
We believe it is due to wearing on the flex cable (which happens in slider phones)
Sprint will replace this free of charge as long as you unroot before you bring it to them.
..
If this is not your issue then idk what to tell you
nope screen does not go black at.. i noticed that if i do pull the keyboard screen doesnt work, if i slide the keyboard and leave it alone for about 5 min or so touch screen will start working.. thats why i figured it would have been an issue with the rom. as for taking it back to sprint i flashed this phone to cricket due to lack of sprint service. i have an evo 3d i recently flashed to cricket but i cant let my shifty die.. lol
Like notso said it's in all likely hood the Flex Cable. If you don't want to take it into Sprint, you can buy the Flex Cable off Ebay. It's about $40 bucks. But I would probably go through the trouble of flashing back to Sprint stock and taking it to them for repair. But that's just me. But if your already on Cricket that means you don't have Sprint TEP. So you might as well fix it yourself.

capacitive buttons faulty

I have had this problem for awhile , My capacitive buttons have stopped working.
I remember dropping the phone from a short height but the phone has no physical damage , it had no problems for along time and then suddenly one day they stopped working fully.
Im on the latest Android Revolution HD Rom and have tried a reinstall.
I have also opened the phone up to look for any sign of internal damage but nothing.
The touch screen itself works great the home botton works sometimes if u get it in the right spot but other then that nothing.
Anybody got any ideas? New Digitizer?
Would like any help.
Cheers
Greg
Hard to think nobody has had this problem.
Bump bump bump , great song that one

[Q] Slow touch

Hello all.
I have an sensation. 5 months ago it fell. Screen was cracked. Some shop repaired it for me back then. Since then I have been getting more and more touchscreen issues. Sometimes it doesn't even respond at all. What I will have to do then is put screen on sleep again and activate it again. I have been trying different ROMs and kernels so I have a feeling it isn't the software.
Yesterday I went back to the shop and he blamed it on the different ROM. So I'm now installing my old 2.3.3 backup. He said that with 2.3.3 my screen would work again. However, I don't believe him. I think he just messed up my digitizer.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this issue?
UPDATE #1:
Installing my old backup didnt even work. It hung on the white startup screen.
Please someone help me!
me too. having screen problems after changing digitizer.
changing the digitizer on this device is a major catastrophe...

[Q] HTC Desire S touchscreen problems

Hi All,
Couple of weeks ago I got an unexpected touchscreen problem on my HTC Desire S. The phone's "menu buttons (back, home, etc..)" often stop responding, I have to lock/unlock the screen couple of times in order to get the required response from the phone.
When I type on the keyboard, sometimes multiple keys are clicked (and I have only clicked one). Sometimes the phone and the touchscreen works on it's own (clicking, selecting random things) and again I have to lock/unlock... and sometimes even then it's not fixing it.
The phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader and with S-ON. I was working fine od CodeFireX ROM (Jelly Bean based), for almost a month when I started getting this problem.
First I thought it was the software, so I installed a different ROM (JellyTime). But after couple of hours, the same problem appeared again.
I thought maybe if I install a HTC Sense-based ROM, maybe that will do the trick... So i installed Fallout Evolution 5 ROM. It was working fine for an hour or so, and then the same problem again... the buggy touchscreen appeared to haunt me again.
I don't think it's software-related... I read something about the digitizer, maybe it's something about that... I don't know...
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Maxim
You're right
Hi Maxim!
I have had Desire S for a year and this happened too, I tried the same "rescue" methods, and it was a failure, so I decided to buy a new digitizer from ebay. As you know, it's quite difficult to find a good, original digitizer on ebay, but I suceeded and bought it for 16 pounds (as far as I remember). As my Desire S is broken now, I can offer you my own digitizer on a quite low price! Just let me know in PM, if you are interested.
