♠♠♠[SteelROM RevI.2]♠♠♠ UPDATED 12/24 v3.70.651.1 │Rooted│ DeOdexed
The goal of this ROM was to provide a deodexed stock ROM without anything removed or themed to allow users to do whatever they want to a stock ROM.
NOTICE: If you flash a theme and something breaks, keep in mind it wasn't broken before you flashed the theme.
Do a nandroid backup first! You should always wipe before flashing a ROM!
I use AmonRa recovery, never gives me problems.
Use Clockwork at your own risk as it has been reported countless times to not wipe dalvik cache properly.

Nice, This is what I wanted!

Total noob question, but what does it mean that this is "deodexed" and "zipaligned"?

Thanks been waiting on something along the lines of this..good work and also fast

anyone got a mirror? a filesharing site can't be accessed through my corp firewall....

This is what I was waiting for, thanks!

I flashed this after flashing the Odexed version and am having the same problem. When I open the messages app (text messaging) it refuses to give me a keyboard.
Any idea what would cause this to happen?
Thanks guys.

stupid question but i have to ask since i have never asked before.
can i just open the zip file and delete all the sprint/HTC crap APK's that i dont want or use.
nascar, nfl, teeter, friendstream, etc etc etc.
i usually use root explorer and just rename them within the phone once i am flashed but if i can do it within the zip file before i flash that would be cool.

You sure can. But I resign the zip file after changing anything inside of it just for good measure. I've never tried to flash with original signing after changing something.

thanks chief,
what a perfect excuse to start learning about this kind of stuff (signing files) instad of leeching of you guys all the time.

I tried installing and received an error:
E:Can't Symlink system/xbin/zcip
E:Failure at line 63:
Symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/zcip
I installed the unofficail release just fine, so I'm not sure what this is all about. I did a full wipe before installing.

I did a full wipe twice (data/factory reset ,Dalvik-cache) and tried installing when I got the error. So I tried the wipe and installation again and got the same error.

I should have clarified, I flashed the rooted unofficial release that came out on Friday.

To Reinstall
connect your phone to your computer

adb remount
adb push /sdcard/AW10/removed/nameofapp.apk /system/app

issue: if you flash the lwp.zip and the rom together at the same time, it can cause boot loops.
fix: install the rom let it boot once, reboot then install the lwp.zip.

Wow, and I thought I was the only person with Appalachian Wireless to Root, you know I had a terrible time rooting. Just about every guide I could find was for Sprint only. I wish I had found you about 2 months ago. I had to upgrade to the Stock 2.1, before I was able to root. Did you have as hard of a time getting your Hero rooted as I did on Appalachian Wireless? Just curious.

no i waited until 2.1 was released and rooted, i didn't want to take the chance of messing up my carrier settings with the sprint RUU, and not being able to restore them, i was tempted though very tempted.

please be patient with me I'm working on this, should be fixed in a little while.
OK because all my files on mediafire got wiped
and i was going to release this newer version in a couple days anyway, i decided to go ahead and post it tonight.
the only thing missing that i wanted to include in this version is some custom mods i made for it.
i decided to just add them to the original post as metamorph addons instead of including them with the rom, that way you can pick and choose which ones you want instead of me I'll try to have them up soon.
Very nice codejunkie. You've got a little more accomplished with this rom than what I got done with it. My rom was pretty much bare stock. Nothing removed. I was able to get it de-odexed, but when I started looking into changing the rosie, that was when things started becoming unstable.

CWM 3+ / Edify compatible DK28 mods - Updated 13 Jan 2011

Gents,
This didn't take much effort, but I wanted to provide it since I think others can benefit from it.
The updated mods are available at http://android.linuxkidd.com/edify/ due to the size restrictions of attachments here at XDA. These are compatible with both the older Clockwork Mod versions as well as with the new 3.0.0.x which only supports Edify scripting.
I have flashed and verified the aosplock.zip to be 100% functional.
The remaining files have been modified in the same way, but were not tested. Any reports regarding errors received during the flashing process are desired.
NOTE: Original credit for these mods go to Dameon87 and were downloaded from his google code site, then modified with the new scripting.
All available mods:
Code:
297411 Jan 13 20:44 aosplock.zip
4644739 Jan 13 20:44 huluflash.zip
10191121 Jan 13 20:44 samapps.zip
11931285 Jan 13 20:44 samwidgets.zip
7692093 Jan 13 20:44 sprintapps.zip
1453370 Jan 13 20:44 stockemail.zip
Installation Instructions
----------------------------------
* adb reboot recovery
* Flash the Zip file(s)
* Reboot
If you don't get any errors during the flashing of the Zip files, then all should be fine. If for some reason, the desired outcome is not obtained, please post to this thread. However, keep in mind... I simply updated the installation script for the add-ons. I did not create the add-ons. Hopefully, someone from the community can help figure out where things went wrong.
Enjoy!
LK
--- NOTE: These have been updated as of Jan 13 to correct the installation script. Please report on the new format.
Nice! I'm stoked on this.
Umm this is weird...are there prerequisites for this?
I'm still running di18, still on rfs, rooted with baked snack and app2sd (the whole paritioned sd card thing). I wanted to try out the hulu. Flashed with cwm, nothing failed...but I can't find it anywhere. Is the app2sd messing it up? Its not in system/app, system/sd/app, or system/data

These mods are specifically targeted at DK28 ROMs, so your milage may vary.
Aside from that, there won't be anything noticable on the device. But, if you browse to Hulu ( make sure you have Plugins turned completely ON, and not 'On-Demand' in the browser ), you should be able to watch Hulu content.

tried the hulu flash but when i opened it, there was a message that said that hulu is working on providing streaming to mobile phones and that its not supported on my phone as of now? it was after installing the huluflash
I am on Quantum Rom v2.7.0.DK28 via CWM 3.0.0.5. I just attempted the hulu flash mod and it doesn't seem to work. I did make sure that flash updates were uninstalled, auto updates turned off, plugins set to always on, and Dolphin browser HD User Agent was set to Desktop.
There was no error during the flash. I got:

Hulu gives the usual error of "unfortunately, Hulu is not supported by your platform..."
I just tried aosp lockscreen and samapps and both did not work. It said install complete but cw 3005 did not automatically reboot. It just said installation complete. I had to reboot manually and when phone started no change to lockscreen and samapps were not installed.

[ROM][06-10-2011] EE4 Debloated V4.2.1

I took the ED2 ROM, deodexed and zip aligned it, then debloated it and added in a few useful things. This has most of the stuff removed that came with the Stock ROM, including TWLauncher, which has been replaced with AOSP Launcher. The ROM is rooted and also includes busybox for some useful linux tools. I've also included the Gingerbread keyboard from here as another keyboard alternative. This is not fully tested yet, so there may be a few issues. As people use it, I can add things people would like (such as mods as they become available), or remove stuff people don't want/use.

Fixed read-only USB mounting read-only on custom kernels (thanks kejar31)

You can use the three button method "VolUp-VolDown + Power" Release power when the Samsung logo appears.
Or
Use Quick Boot from the Market, works for me.

Same question as above, I just installed voodoo's kernel. Do I just boot into CWM and then install as a .zip?
This can be flashed regardless of what kernel you're on, as long as you have CWM available. You can choose to wipe cache/dalvik if you want, but it isn't necessary from my experience.
If you were on stock and had an update for My Verizon, you may need to use Titanium Backup to finish removing it as I found out. The same likely goes for any other apps that were in stock but were updated from the Market.
I'll start removing more things then as I figure out what it is they do and if they are necessary for normal use of the phone. There are some apks left that I'm not sure what they do yet, so I'm leaving them in for now.
If you keep the media hub, you should probably revert it to ED1 so the can't play on 3G "feature" is gone.

[CWM][I9003] CWM for Gingerbread XXKPH (coming soon)

This is temporarily unavailable. Will be back soon (only with CWM, for now)
Here I present you the CF-ROOT for I9003 [XXKPH only]
You can flash this over any other CWM or over the stock FW.
Feature Set:
- Root ( don't need to use SOC or any ZIP);
- Busybox 1.17.2;
- init.d support (you can put in the folder /system/etc/init.d all the script that you want to be loaded at the startup);
- Added EXT4 support to the phone ( so you can convert the filesystem to ext4 to improve performance);
- Added "Reboot into Download Mode" from within CWM
- full working CWM Manager (backup - restore - delete backup - install apk (Thanks to Skin1980)
- flash update.zip - flash kernel - reboot to CWM);
- Tweaks Manager with various tweak ( Ram Min Free - SD Speed - I/O Scheduler - Kernel Scheduler - CPU Conservative Governor - Swappiness - Ram Script by Juwe11 - Media Stagefright)
Thanks to Skin1980 (I have used his CF-Root for XXKPE and tweaked it for XXKPH).
Feedback and Thanks are welcome ...

Btw, any possible issues installing this after the rooting has been done by old CWM+SOC+reflash new normalboot.img method?

Sorry for that Skin1980. I was in a hurry to get my hands dirty on XXKPH. I have my own version of CWM, where I am doing more things like 2nd partition in External SD, EXT4 on internal and external SD, Busybox 1.19, etc.
I have a different version of CWM version created for public, as I have very different setup from the rest.
I really liked your work on CF-Root, so I thought of including that as well and also provide you necessary credit.
Also, I am in the process of porting CyanogenMod for I9003 (still a long way to go), in which I would be creating a different version of CF-Root.
I am going to remove the CF-Root portion from my version of CWM and will post this soon (Removing the current CWM version from this thread, for now).
You are correct, I could have contacted you. Sorry again for that.

AROMA file manager that works on Explorer? [SOLVED]

Is there any version of AROMA file manager that works properly on the Explorer? I have discovered that I have some how lost the busybox binary from /system/xbin and now I need to replace it, which I think would probably be easiest by copying from /system/bin with AROMA FM. (If there's a better way, please let me know and I'll do it instead).
(At the moment, my phone won't boot, so it's kinda urgent...)
Isn't easyer to just flash the rom that you already have, with wiping only cache?

No, seeing as that wouldn't fix anything...I'm on stock ROM which does not include busybox, so flashing it would achieve nothing. (To clarify, busybox is required by some script(s) I have installed)
EDIT: Turns out that the latest version of AROMA FM works fine. Booting is certainly getting further now than it did before
then flash something new

No thank you. I have fixed the issue now, without needing to flash a new ROM or anything silly like that (my current setup is exactly what I want, there is no point in me changing it and having to go through the hassle of restoring all my apps, setting up all my accounts again etc.).
All I needed to do was use the latest AROMA FM to copy busybox from /system/bin to /system/xbin. Took all of about 20 seconds once I got a card reader and the latest version of AROMA. Compared to the time required to download and flash a new ROM, and all the app restoring that would be required following doing so (and I don't even have completely updated backups, so I'd be missing some apps/data), I think my solution was better.

Like I said, the latest version of AROMA FM (1.8 was the version I used) works fine as-is. Here's a link to it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
