Hi there,
I've a rooted Desire (Defrost 2.5a) and bought a my new SD card to use A2SD+ to solve my memory space issue ( ~18 M Free )
I formated it with ROM manager and allocated 512 Mo for the ext one and 0 for the swap.
After a soft reboot, I now have 108 Mo free !!! That's not so bad, but I don't really get how it's possible to have only 108 Mo free space, if I'm right i should have 400 Mo more.
If someone have an explanation, I'll be really intersted in.
Thanks
Hi
I just started to use a2sd+ and have the same issue.
The "used" value is also wrong. But it just seems to be normal and beside that it works quit well. Installed about 200 mb of apps and my memory would "explode" otherwise
You can see the real values with Titanium Backup.

Hi, I have a problem with my storage card since last week.
The system (Resco Explorer 5.14, File Explorer, Pocket Mechanic) says that I have no more free space on my storage card (Lexar 512 Mb) though actually there is still 60Mb of free space..
It never happened before..
BUt then if I pull out the storage card & put it in back, it will be normal again (I have 60 Mb free space)..
I haven't noticed what is the cause of this problem..
I use WM2003SE 2.06 WWE...
Anyone here know the solution ?
Thanks..
I have the same problem, the problem doesn't happen if you have more available free space...
I had a really annoying problem the other day. I had a lot of files on my Kingston 512 MB sd card but they were not available in my Qtek 2020. Then I thought I could read them from my PC - but no! So, I had to format the card.
Did anyone experience this?
this happens to me all the time unfortunatly
i have a cheap 1gig SDand it locks up my XDA IIi alot, it also reports as being full when it has plenty of space left.
I think its more to do with it being a cheap card so i'd go with a well known brand next time.
Mine is a kingston ultra 512... The only problem i have is the free space problem... Otherwise it works fine...
Hi,
I was using Nothrills Rom 6.1 in French.
No problem at all with it or so small problem...
I've tried the new official one.
I've reverted back to original SPL.
Since then, when I go to settings memory,
I'm surprised to see only 114 Mo for storage and 84 Mo for usable ram.
As far as I know, Kaiser had 256 Mo of storage and 128 Mo of ram !
these numbers is the total available memory after a hard reset !
Where is my memory ?
I've read the wiki and didn't find this anywhere.
Help please.
Thanks

THere is 256mb of RAM yes, but there is also a OS running on your phone right! Look at it this way, when you buy a new computer with a harddrive though it might come with a 200gb hard drive, if you look at the C drive it might say 175 mb free. This is because of the software and OS on the hard drive. Same thing with phones
Now about the memory, the reason the memory changes is due to the software, and settings in the ROM. If there is a PagePool it could take anywhere from 2mb to 32mb of space. Also depending on what is on the phone it will use memory, even if you did hard reset.
Hope this helps, but trust me...install some programs and you'll see the Memory size go down. Anywhere above 20 mb is fine, actually any number is fine as long as the rom is running
Hi Guys,
Been on the forum for some time now and it's super, with the HD7 coming out i'm a little confused as to what's the difference between rom memory and internal storage is
I mean i know my HD2 had only 512MB of ROM, which was crap to be honest as i kept running low with everything i had on it, will the 8GB/16GB internal memory deal with this problem as the rom on the HD7 is still 512MB just like the HD2.
Also one more thing, i really loved the HTC Sense UI on my HD2 and i know the HD7 has the hub version, what are the chances of getting the Normal HD2 Sense UI back on the HD7 (hacked etc...)
Thanks for all the help and support.
Appreciate it.
The storage is combined. All apps, games, music, etc are placed in one unified storage area. You'll have the full 8GB to use (unlike WM and Android).
No chance that the Sense 2.5 comes to WP7. Sense is heavily hooked into WM and that just won't be possible. Someone could port something that looks/behaves similarly but it would have to be from the ground up.
Thanks alot for clearing that up.
Thanks
I have 36.3 MB ROM memory , 180 MB on Phone memory and 11.1 GB on SD card.
This infos are all according to my Titanium Backup Pro.
Is there a possibility that by installing more games or apps, it will eat up my ROM memory first which is down to 36 MB (any chance i can get some memory back?)?
I'm using apps2sd but i dont think it is helping my ROM even if i transfer some files from internal memory to sd card.
Or am i wrong?

WP7 doesn't distinguish between ROM and SD card. It sees them combined as a single drive, sort of like JBOD or RAID 0.

Thanks +1 for you... so nothin to worry about.
Sure. That functionality has caused some confusion. It's why the sd card slot isn't a removable storage solution

Using GUI for Darktremor Apps2SD on my phone it shows available RAM usually between 40mb and 85mb. Yet, on Total Free - it shows around 294mb of 457mb. How is this possible? I've ran the a2sd reinstall and never had any issues come back. How is this possible?
My phone is VERY snappy. Wow. Thats all I'm saying, but it does get sluggish if it drops in available memory. How do I use MORE of the total memory? Thinking maybe firerat? (this repartitions the internal memory I believe)
Any suggestions or explanations?
Its a Sprint HTC Hero. Rooted. Running aospCMod-20110322 (froyo 2.3.3). Class 6 2GB microSD card. Using Darktremor Apps2SD with swap, and cache on SD card. I am not using Froyo's native app2SD. Just the symlink used by Darktremor.
must be a GUI bug that prevents showing the real memory available. just go to settings> storage and scroll down to the phone memory row. it will show you the real memory available.
Settings > Memory Info Still shows 53 / 190
Sadly it shows me basically the same thing. Available memory / free memory. Thats my confusion. How do I get it to be 190 available memory or am I misunderstanding something.
HI, I'm new to the forums. Mostly I SEARCH & SEARCH & SEARCH again... so I don't have to ask too many questions. However, as I'm new I can't post yet other areas.
You know about 2 things that I want to ask about.
Having aps2sd (DarkTremors) how long did it take to install? You said you did the Cache which I want to do and when I did mine, it seems to have frozen? I reverted back to my backup. It's my public phone and I need it working. Though I could toss the 'sim' back in the old phone I replaced.
I got to test the effectiveness of a Back up which was quite fast. (That's why I'm wondering? Why it was taking so long?)
SO, how long does it take to install aps2sd (Including letting it do it's thing and creat links? 20 30 40 min?)
I've got a Class4 32gb card.
My other question is about the setup of the GUI. Just install the .apk or do I need to do any tweeking to get it functional with the script?
Hope to get a reply here. Thanks in advance. OH, in case it helps, I'm running an Xperia Mini Pro. I did consider waiting for the Xperia Pro but decided I wanted the compactness... it's a nice
daily user and good pocket size.
OH, and of course great price...
Hi !
I have HTC Desire with InsertCoin GB ROM 1.05 (not CM), used just for several days. Of course, almost all apps are moved to SD storage except few like Go Apps and small system utilities.
Today I started to get message that storage space is too low - just about 200K. I have moved GoSMS app to SD, then Gmail, and process hangs. GoSMS successfully moved to SD, while Gmail simply disappeared at all. After restart free space on internal memory left only 100K (yes, even less space then before).
Fixing permissions from ROM manager didn't help, so I wiped out cache partition. Free space increased to 65MB. Wiping dalvik cache increased it further to 72 MB.
I have very few data on phone, several hundred contacts and 20 SMS messages, virtually nothing else.
Now DiskUsage app reports this data:
Data - 194.7 MiB
Applications - 122 MiB
Free - 72.7 MB
I feel something is not right there. I can't understand why there so much data - almost 195 MB. Looks like some app draining free space on internal memory. I did video recording today on SD card, may be video recorder is buggy? I also had Locus map for some time, but then I deleted it with Uninstaller App.
Another possible clue - HTC Car Panel uses 50 MB for maps. Where they are? On internal memory?
Anyone can suggest what could cause this problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s).
