Flash and use phone with sprint instead of verizon? I JUST WANT TO FLASH THESE ROMS!!! They look better then some of the 2.1 sense based ROMs and I'm NOT ready for Froyo yet, but before i flash i must have this question answered!!! I dont want to mess ANYTHING up to do with the actual carrieirs. please help

I have a question to ask. I'm going to get an HTC hero on Sprint and i've seen all the hacks. If I were to hack it, how would I get the Sense UI Launcher back? I'm very fond of it, but i'm also fond of Gingerbread. If anybody has the instructions or solution. Tell me. THANK YOU!!!
When you get the phone it will have Sense on it. After you've rooted & flashed GB or whatever you have flashed, just flash a Sense Rom. If you want to unroot, you'll need to look that up as I'm only familiar with EVOs.
If you're getting a new phone, why get a hero? Do they even make those anymore or are you getting a used one?
Aosp rom
Im making the hero my little hacking toy. If I want to use the Sense rom, can i still use the aosp one??? I really dont know how to flash it on the aosp rom. Thank you
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here.
You can use a Sense ROM or an AOSP ROM, but not both at the same time. Before you flash anything, do a nandroid backup in recovery. Then, if you decide you like what you had better, you can just restore from your backup & everything will look exactly like it did. You can flash however many ROMs you want, just be sure you know what you're doing first. I would suggest reading everything you can here on xda. Really, just read and read and read. When you're ready to flash something, just follow the instructions by the letter. And, don't forget to do a backup first.
Oh thank you!! Im gonna look for a 2.3 sense rom and read around. Sorry im a n00b on xda. Lol
As far as I know no HTC phones have been released or leaked running 2.3. So no 2.3 Sense roms yet.
Hardware is identical except that NS4G has the NFC and no flip keyboard.
I bet if you flash one of their ROMs and then Netarchy's kernel it'll work just fine.
What do you think?
No... dear lord... just no
I posted over at the Epic forum and they got ours to work on the Epic. But it doesn't just work out of the box. There are some things which need to be moded.

oh you guys are so smart with those comments
Can u post the rom for epic 4g. Ill do it
Uncle Jimmy says hello
No, it's not a matter of doing it. This was a question to someone who could answer it. Obviously the two you've seen were not technically oriented to be able to even have a guess.
The answer to this, if you follow the link I posted from the epic forum, is that some minor adjustments need to be made to the ROM it'self before it can be successfully flashed following with a kernel. If you don't, you'll get an error in the recovery or at best the phone will boot but not have all the functions.
So the guys from the Epic forum answered my question and they are happy I brought it up because they'll have a pure GB ROM on their phone with all the new stuff included.
Makes me wish I got the Epic. At least there, my questions would have been answered better.

wow first, they can boot a stock aosp rom because they have a .35 cm7 kernel, we on the other hand dont have a .32 kernel, or a .35 touchwiz kernel. and yes most of the rom.. should work (save for anything to do with radio) on the epic (again with the correct kernel) and most of the people there are happy because any thoughts of gingerbread give them giggles. they have a gb rom already, its cm7 and its halfway working, but it wont be because of teh nexus s 4g. its because they have some of teh best devs working on it. the reason why their rom wont work is because touchwiz is heavily integrated into it, we dont have the support for that (yet, who knows what someone may try to port over) prime example look at the sense rom and tell me how many of those things are working? the epic is as close to the nexus s 4g as it is to the motorola razr. they share the same radio and chipset and a few other random parts and pieces how the ril is used is completely different, how the gps is run is totally different.
how's that for an answer? if you wanna swap to the epic i know plenty of guys that are in the epic irc channel that would gladly trade with you.
Thank you. That was better than the other post.

There's a thread on how to dump your current phone in the dev forums - it's 2-3 pages down, was a hot item 3 weeks ago when Rogers released the Infuse.
but honestly - there are existing dumps of both Froyo variants (look at the Ultimate Unbrick) threads and of the Rogers Gingerbread release

Hello and welcome to XDA...
First, I recommend reading the stickies posted in the forum and learning as much as you can about the inner-workings of the community... from there, things get easier.
Points of advice...
- Flashing Roms and Kernels can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be... meaning, if you search the forum well and learn what you're doing, it becomes as simple as ever...
- Never flash anything without making a nandroid backup first... if you don't know what that means, use the search function for XDA and lookup "nandroid"
Lastly,
Most people are going to recommend you flash yourself Cyanogenmod 7. The latest stable build is RC1 and can be found here and other "usual places".
Once you flash CM7 (a "rom") then you can flash a Kernel if you want... I'd be willing to put my neck out and say that faux has the most reliable and most popular Kernel out right now in conjunction with CM7...
The best thing you can do for yourself is read... take the time to read as much as you can and answer your own questions slowly over time... there is no reason to go flashing away until you fully understand what it is that you are doing.
Hope that gets you started in the right direction... good luck and have fun!
Hey guys converter from iPhone over here. Last time I rooted it was fairly straightforward and was able to get going quickly. This newer stuff is a little new to me.
I rooted my sprint s5 using towel root. Now what? I see roms like omega but none really say anything about the sprint model.
What should i do next to install a boottloader then a rom?
Thanks

Assuming you are a new XDA user. Welcome to the forum and be sure to read over the forum rules. They might save you some headache in the future. For example, this post should of been in the Q&A section but no biggie. A mod will move it if need be.
Anyways, about your question, this is the Sprint specific forum so all the roms here should be compatible with the Sprint S5 (900P). Some of the roms will be based off of Touchwiz (these will keep almost 100% of stock functionality while adding some extras) and AOSP roms (custom based on CM, MIUI, etc.) The first post of each rom thread will give you a good idea of what the rom has included, instructions to flash, what works and doesn't, and so on.
If you just rooted get a custom recovery on there and do a backup of the system and EFS first thing. As for bootloader, that is preference and may depend on what rom you flash but I would think you will be fine with what version you have now.
This is also a good thread to take a look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52456762&postcount=1
