As many of you have found out there are several issues with Clockwork Mod Recovery. Scepter has put out a warning last night on twitter.
" Scepterr
Hold off on flashing ClockworkMod Recovery for the Galaxy S/Vibrant/Captivate. It does NOT work atm. "
If you have flashed this already please wait for a fix and if not please hold off for now or risk a big headache. Koush probably has enough people now to test with.
Also
Good news:
Wes's Twitter:
Ok, getting my Vibrant today - tomorrow mainly going to work on the Slide and a bit of the Vibrant

Wes and Chris Soyars are working on finishing off the CM6 Alpha on the MyTouch Slide. Once the Slide is completed then Wes will be working on the Galaxy S CM6 Alpha.
Scepterr is currently working on the initial setup for the Galaxy S and is work in progress.
Calendar Updates:
The date on the Team Douch calendar has not been updated for a while but I know the last change to their calendar was 7/21 where Scepterr replaced Wes for Galaxy S initial setup and Wes was moved from Slide CM6 Alpha replaced by Chris and then was moved to Galaxy S CM6 Alpha.
Development is progressing but this will more than likely take a month. So we will all have to be patient.

"Vibrant and Captivate users do not flash the i9000 JP1 & JP2 Froyo release it does not work correctly and you can not revert back." I would suggest to stay away from all that is I9000 for now.
Wesgarner has started work on the Galaxy S and it is going "fine".

It's nice to see who will be helping us out to free our phones further!
Thanks for all the hard work.

Subscribing. Will be donating tomorrow. I have CM6 on my Nexus 1, it would be AWESOME to see it on the Captivate.

OP Updated

Excellent, Now we will finally have some Sexy Roms , and Super Progress to make our Phones SUPER!!
Looking forward to Donating, and Installing some Froyo

Thanks for the updates. CM6 rc2 has turned into something really nice for my Nexus so I can't wait for a familiar port. These guys(Teamdouche) have a crazy team of devs for their projects so it is only a matter of time, that is for sure.

This is good news...I've been running CyanogenMod on my Nexus One since day one. Can't wait to run it on my captivate! CM6 is by far the king of ROMs in my opinion.

I guess my question would be, which Galaxy S are they going to primarily work on? I read that they are getting Vibrants. My next question would be, how much different will software have to be to run on the Captivate? I know the Vibrant stock rom doesnt work that well on Captivate.

The kernels will need slight tweaks for each device but the rest of the OS will be the same. As far as I know the stock Euro i9000 kernel works on the Captivate except for the g sensor orientation and some buttons are flipped. I haven't look yet but I'm hoping those settings can be changed via constants in the kernel source.

I Agree, Also the Captivate does have an audience Voice chip, (for noise cancelling) So I'm not sure if this will effect the Source as well. I hope they will be testing and tweaking for each device!

I wouldn't worry. Wes Garner is a good man, and thorough.

Nice big lebowski reference there
I am PSYCHED for CM6 on the Captivate!!

The sooner the custom ROMs drop for this thing the sooner I can take my sim card out of my Nexus One. There is just no comparison in speed and multitasking ability when using CM ROMs! My Nexus is SO MUCH FASTER than my Captivate in EVERY way right now. But, the Captivate is FASTER stock then my N1 was when it was stock. So, the potential is definitely there!!!

Don't forget all the other people that "borrow" (and give credit to) Cyanogen and the teams work. I ran RoDrIgUeZsTyLe Froyo 3.3 based on CM 6, and older versions based on Modaco's Froyo release and I found them to be very stable and fast with the right kernals on my Nexus. I can only dream that the Captivate can have a sweet little kitchen and all kinds of offerings to play with like the Nexus did. Thats one of the main reasons I will always love my buggy, goofy, signal dropping, problematic touchscreen havin Nexy.....it was a different phone every day thanks to developers. I get bored easy

Just don't get too impatient. Wes is still finishing up the port for the Slide.
And, for those worrying about support for the Captivate - Koush is on TeamDouche and he has a Captivate.
So, with Wes having a Vibrant and Koush having a Captivate - they should be able to provide for both devices.
Koush has already added the Captivate to his ClockworkMod Recovery app.

Yes definetaly looking forward to
cm6 on the Captivate. I also have it on my Nexus One and it is great! I have been using CM builds on my Nexus for the past 6 months i had no idea they were this close to the Captivate/Vibrant.

I'm very excited about this!! If we can ditch the lame unlock screen and modify a few key features of the phone on the fly, I'd be willing to donate!

man I am pretty stoked about this. I have heard such amazing things about CM6.
I just can't wait to see it on my Captivate.

Well if you want to be impressed, check out the Speed Fix forum.
The Captivate with 2.1 is much faster than Nexus One 2.2 if this modification can be figured out!

[ROM] Ti-X EVOLUTION GingerBread 1-13-11 1.03

Ok Sprint Visual voice mail doesn't work sorry. Don't complain about it it doesnt work on any GB roms right now. If you need to check VM go to the dial pad and hold down the #1 button and it will connect you to VoiceMail the real way.
Next my roms are ment to be bare roms meaning nothing but the Android OS. maybe so apps hear and there but I try not to. Meaning mail.apk moxiermail.apk and many others are not going in this rom it saves 3MB And thats what I like sorry. Download it and install it but I wont include it in my roms.
Ok well I mainly post over at SDX since I used to be a moment guy but I think its time to also post here for my roms.
Been deving for only the year I focus on making Bare stock roms. I also update all the apps to the latest date so no going to maket and finding out you need to download 10 apps only being on the rom for 10min. I also to help with speed by pngopt, zipalign, anything else I can do to it.
This is Based off Evervolv-AOSP|GRH55/Android 2.3.1 to me its the best one so far. This is just to show everyone how nice GB is but that it can be a daily ROM right now. Just a few things have been changed apps and libs that aren't needed have been taken out all up to date apps. And launcher pro to make the phone glide.
1.04
Camcorder works.
based of 1.0.1
1.03
Changed font
removed swype it sucks on gingerbread. - the newest beta tho has enabled the evo once again no link will be provided sorry.
camera should be fixed due to this having the newest CM7 kernel and being based of a15
GPS should is the keyword be fixed.
Camera should is the keyword be fixed for all evos (camcorder is not working yet)
1.02
Adding swype.apk, mail.apk
RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15. 00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe - Swype gave licensing to HTC/Sprint to add it in. Meaning swype can be added to any Evo rom. Do not trying taking this swype out and making it work on another phone cause it wont work it will only work on this rom.
1.01
Fool proof way to flashing - This will wipe your phone starting this build and up by formating system, data, cache granted i only have a few evos to test but I know my builds work. This will insure you flash this rom correctly.
Your phone will be cleaned as if you walked into the sprint stock and picked this up from them you will lose everything so back up if you need to. SMS BACKUP+ does great to back you text messages. Ti Backup can back up your apps.
added a boot animation back from the moment days.
If you are having any issues flash this and they should work.
1.0 Release
Changed to CM7 Stock Kernel
Fixes wifi, BT
1.0 RC
setup wizard works now
front camera works
updated apps
launcher pro is now used makes the phone feel faster and bumps up the MFlops to 37-38 maybe higher on rare cases.
ADs are blocked
added apps - adfree, advanced task killer, es file manager, task killer
.1
Updates Apps. as of 12-25-10
edited some of the XMLs to make it a tad bit faster feeling along with some APKs.
fixed host file to block ads in apps.
Not Working.
4G
HDMI
Sprint Voice Mail gives Error V30 its the App (hold down #1 and dial voicemail like you used to do)
camcorder
GPS-wifi are a hit or miss. CM7 kernel that is included with this rom right now is the only one that works with my test phones. I did try the latest CM7 kernel but nothing.
ronnienyc would like to tell people that have HW 004 Camera does not work at all.
HOW TO
This rom wipes BOOT, CACHE, DATA, SYSTEM to make sure you get a clean install. Back up your apps if you want.
This rom will also format everything already you are warned but by it doing this you will not have any issues if so then wow its working on 5 evos 001, 002, 003, 004, 004. Camera, GPS, wifi are a hit and miss.

A little off topic but needed help...
First let me thank you for your contributions to this forum.. Options are always a good thing..
Any way.. the wifey has a moment.. i installed a custom ROM and kernel on it and it worked great for a while then it just started fallin apart. Random bootloops.. battery drain within 2-4 hours. Shes even blasphemed by saying shes going back to the pixi..(nooooo!!!!)
I noticed the ROM you have your moment.. so shot to the thread and saw a JIT version and nonJIT version.. which would you recommend?
also which kernel should i install on the moment? i saw you have ixanes so maybe i will roll with that...
I know this is a EVO forum and trust she wishes she would have just waited and got the EVO.. which i did and am so happy.. But anything to keep her from yelling at me about how much she hates her phone and that i should have never touched her phone and blah blah blah...
thanks in advance
Wow I'm definitely gonna give this a go. I loved yours & Shepscrook Ti-X ROM when I had my Moment!

I had a TI-X rom on my old Moment and it was awesome. Going to flash this and check it out. Thanks man.

Jit is there for the speed getting 9+ mflops etc. non jit uses the arm11 source.
both roms use inxans's kernel. But to me use this Ti-X 1.3.X its not the newest but its the most stable I'm going back to the DE03 rom because it had no issues. She will love you again when you do this. Join the forum over there and we will help you out.

I think he's asking how come there's no stock gb Rom? Also the biggest issues ive noticed with other gb roms is gps issues is that fixed on here

gps works for me just fine thats why i posted that pic.
GPS is working fine for me too. Accurate to 30 meters.
Does the hdmi and camcorder not work on this? Seems that every Rom with GB doesn't have those working. That's the only reason I haven't tried a GB Rom. I don't care much for 4g since its not in my area.

Guys, I'm fairly new to all this...
I do have a rooted EVO 4G with S-OFF, but running FROYO and stock Sprint ROM (sw version 3.29), which honestly is a somewhat unstable and laggy. I would like to upgrade my ROM to Gingerbread and with the latest software updates (SWYPE), and I have a couple of questions that probably people looking around these threads might have as well:
-Does the camcorder and 4G work with this ROM?
-Do I need a custom kernel, or can I just proceed with clearing cache through recovery menu, then flashing the new ROM?
Thanks in advance, all the best.

What's taking so long for HTC/Verizon to release 2.3.4 for Thunderbolt?

I don't get it, really so many phones came out with 2.3.4 already why is Thunderbolt is so behind?!
From what I've seen in the developer forums, the Dev's are really having to rework the leaked kernels pretty heavily to get them stable; normally striping out all the garbage HTC is trying to cram into it. So I'm thinking between HTC and verizon trying to cram so much crap in, they can't get it stable enough to release.
just my thought.
im thinking we will get 2.3.5 not 2.3.4. and it should come by the end of the month or in september.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not aware they are even using a base derived from Tbolt ROMs for kernels.

Nope your probably right. Thought I read that they were using a leaked kernel from HTC, for some of the ROMs/kernels but probably my misunderstanding
Wouldn't hold my breath for the update tbh. With what we're cranking out, people should be content with what's available. If you guys got an OTA 2.3.4 update you'd want it customized anyway so....
Surprise its August where's that update I have been reading about.

They are using leaked RUUs for the base on Gingerbread Sense ROMs, but any custom GB kernels are frankensteined together from different sources I believe. They have to do that because even with an RUU leak we don't have the kernel source from HTC for Gingerbread.

no phone is ever current... the moment it is released another OS/hardware set is going to be announced within a week and that hardware that is not yet on the shelf is already out dated.. it’s just the way things work. And it’s a good thing to. if we had the most current device it would take years for the next generation device to come out and we would slip behind the curve even faster. All that said... it is extremely ridiculous that we are not on the newest OS version given the amount of time this one has been on the shelf.

If you want to blame anything, blame HTC for putting sense on the phone, since they can't keep it updated quickly enough to follow google's software rollout.
Also, there seems to be one of these threads every week. Please go complain to verizon or HTC, not to XDA where most are already running gingerbread, it's far more useful.
I saw this asked on another forum, but couldn't the 4g radio cause any issue? Doesn't make sense since the developers here already have it working, but it seems like the only reasonable explaination..if there was one. Maybe the sensation, dinc 2 or evo3D are the new flagships and therefore thunderbolt is put farther down the ladder?

I've used froyo and gingerbread both. I could be missing something, but does gingerbread bring something to the table that is just so remarkable that we MUST have it? It doesn't seem any faster. I'm not seeing features that are much more than pretty fluff. Some of the features I STILL miss from my Blackberry aren't there in 2.3. It's nice, but I'm pretty much indifferent to it.

Who really gives a flying F**k anymore. I already knew from previous phones that this would be 1 of those phones that doesn't have enough ram, hardware and etc to run ICS. We have GB based roms with all working features we can all use now all tweaked up to give the best performance possible. I bought the Infuse for 2 damn reasons and 2 only. 1. The screen is big enough for my hands, to view pictures, browse the web, and watch videos. 2. You can't brick this phone, I've done masses and masses of research on this phone and this is the only phone that can handle the screw ups and bad flashes, (WORTH BUYING JUST FOR THIS REASON) ICS - Who gives a damn, By next year we'll have another OS rolling out and ICS will be old news and you won't want it. I hear the next OS is to be called Jelly Bean!
Edit: the next OS is suppose to get better camera software, apps that take advantage of Hardware acceleration possibly Apps that will take advantage of Dual Core, But yet I didn't hear anything about ICS taking advantage of Acceleration and or Apps taking advantage of Dual Core. My 2 cents would be save your money and WAIT!!! Stop wasting your money.
Why has the Infuse forum become such garbage for the most part. All I ever really see anymore are people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing and want you to wipe their ass and hold their hand through installing anything custom, or things like this.... I miss the pre-November Infuse forums...
+1
hell, I liked it better when the devs were begging for a Rogers Infuse dump lol. (Those were the good ol' days) That was before I actually made an account here, just a follower then
EDIT: well look at that, another desperate noob begging for help in the Q&A...face-palm

(><) LOL! It's really not that hard if you know how to read, This forum seems to be repeating itself with the same topics each and every day for the most part. I feel all confuzled with what's been happening since September on this forum when I first got my Infuse. Dman, Entropy, Linuzbozo, and a few others who have been here since that time till now have been Great! and have shown a lot of support. But as much as I have read so far it seems people are to *****y and needy of things they want but may never have. These devs show Great effort into helping us achieve a great experience with the Infuse, and yet everyone wants to complain about their hard work when they should be complimenting them.

AOSP ICS runs on a Nexus S beautifully. Its hardware is virtually identical to a Vibrant (from what I understand). To my knowledge, a Vibrant is a Galaxy S derivative (or clone) so obviously it'll run on a Galaxy S phone.
If Samsung would provide the binaries necessary to run it on an Infuse, someone or a group of people would have a ROM cooked up from source in no time.
However, Samsung has only so many developers and they have to draw the line somewhere so someone gets the axe. It's similar to what Google did for the Nexus One users. I hear that ICS will run on that phone just fine. I haven't confirmed that in their forums though.

True. Unfortunately, it's ALL speculation.

Vibrant has an almost stable ICS ROM out; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362961
And yes, a Nexus S and a Vibrant are almost pretty much the same phone.
The lack of support for us Galaxy S users is disappointing, but given the Vibrant didn't even get an official Gingerbread update, it's crazy to assume we'd get ICS. Now, for the Infuse 4G, I don't really know how different it is, but I've seen ports from the i9000 on here, they have a running ICS version, someone could try porting it.
Sammy seemed to give up on this phone barely after launch huh? If only they'd release the kernel source we'd be golden.
Ics really is not all that...I ran it on several phones already...and yea its cool for a bit...but I always go back to my tweaked out catyrom cause its way faster....it wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be...people want it on the infuse because we don't have it. People always want want they don't have. Its really not that big a deal in my opinion...

I agree.. my CM7 setup runs so smooth, better than ICS.
Honestly, I just like the look of ICS.. but as you can see here, it's possible on CM7.

I didn't mean to start such an uproar! Was just posting an article that may interest some, or stop some from "wanting" so bad. Maybe the moderator should just delete this thread.
I don't know why the Infuse is such a hot topic, Captivate forums were never this hostile.
As I stated, I like my Infuse as it is! Easy to flash and manipulate whatever way I want.

Preferred ICS ROM and why

I just updated my firmware and installed my first ICS ROM, i'm interested to know others opinions on why you chose the ROM you did and why you are still running it. Please share. Thanks
Trips CM9. It's proven to be quite stable in my use, good battery life, everything works smoothly. I'm perfectly happy with it.
..everything except camera recording, bluetooth and whatnot.. Alpha quality.
OpenSensation (or something..) because I hate trip, Vquattro stopped and sense sucks.
was using trips cm9 really liked it, fast and stable but just couldn't get mms working so i've gone to insertcoin with shinzlons aosp theme
ARHD 6.2.1 + Rom Cleaner + Shnizlon AOSP Theme. Stable, reasonably fast, good looking. But I'm keeping an eye om the OpenSensation dev thread

I don't use those, which, if you had read my post, is why I said that I am nevertheless perfectly happy with it. Why don't you angsty anti-trip pricks find something better to do than troll in any thread in which his name is mentioned? Lots of people like and use his rom. Deal with it, angry assholes.

None of us have showed hatred towards him. Calm your tits.
I'm using ARHD 6.2.1 but am only using this because it seemed to be the most stable with the features I wanted. However, I am seriously considering VI.
I'd love to install a fully stable CM9, though.
Legends Blitz 5 (nosense) or VI 3.0...because they rock...try a few! Happy Flashing!!
I used almost every ICS rom,and i am now on ARHD 6.2.1,virtuos inquisition is really great rom but after some time it become so laggy,i dont have that kind of problem with sense roms and they look pretty.
When trip solve bluetooth and camera recording i will flash cm9,until then im stuck with these one
Honestly can't go past the Elegancia Rom...IMV I think it is superior to anything I have used before - by a long shot.
I've been on baadnewz's InsertCoin 4.5.4 for the last couple of days and I love it. It was as though the ROM search had done a full circle. The big ass sense flip clock on the home screen of the stock ROM was probably the catalyst that triggered it all. "Dang, could this be the reason for my battery drain?" And so it began, the quest for the perfect Rom. The de-sensed versions were all tried out. They were stable - most of them - but they didn't show incoming calls on the lockscreen. They looked washed out on the sensation screen; maybe it's just me, but AOSP did seem " blurry" on the sensation.
Finally, sense prevailed. I put InsertCoin on, and sure enough, the big ass flip clock appeared bang in the middle of the homescreen. The battery life wasn't that pleasing either. But then, baadnewz had mentioned in his thread to be patient for a couple of charge cycles. Sure enough, today I've not charged my phone, and it's been cruising for the last 8 hours with 30% battery remaining. I've a hunch it'll get better.
I got the sense 4 golden wallpaper, and it looks beautiful.
And the big ass flip clock? Well, I replaced it with the smaller flip clock that has the weather to the right of it.
God bless the ROM developers that are working to make the Sensation a better user experience.

P.S.: The Sense 3.6 email client has the same deficiencies that Sense 3 had. It doesn't support push mail from corporate servers, and the inbox gets only plain text email. The Cyanogenmod email client can be installed, and it is a joy to hear the "clink" when email comes through, and to see them formatted the way they were sent. Baadnewz and the others - are you listening? This could/should be baked into future ROM releases.

what i like with ics insertcoin rom is that it is really fast, compared of course from the other roms i tried before. the smoothness really impressed me from the start and that up to now it still have not received any reboots or even htc fc's, granted i have only been using it for 2 days but i'm just really happy about it. i have really no issue with the battery since its always plugged in usb even when at home.

Your post suggests everything works. Guy steps in and points out that not everything works and you attack him. I see no troll like qualities in his post. Any ROM with non functioning hardware is alpha quality and this is no insult to the dev just a fact. Peace.
I'm enjoying insert coin ROM 4.5.0, along with the leedroid tweaks lite mod. No reason other than it works and baad is quite an active dev. Gonna update version soon but baad releases so often I can't be bothered flashing new ROM for relatively small changes every second day. Every couple of weeks will do me.

stock UCLB3 > any other ROM

With stock ROM I get:
• 2-3 day battery life
• All apps work
• Strongest signal
• 100% working wifi
• fastest overall, zero load time for almost everything
• and finally I don't need to install gapps or anything
With any other ROM I get:
• Possibly 1 day battery life
• Orgasm if I get any signal at all
• Wifi works completely on one in a billion roms, flaky on most
• Bluetooth rarely works
• No fix for any issues on ROMs that don't have major devs working on them
• Some apps don't work, and on a few ROMs some apps even kill the system and make it hot reboot
• Lag like it's a 3-year-old donut phone with the processor speed of a retarded potato with AIDS
• some need gapps, which is annoying to re-install every time you update, which also, you have to do every few days instead of once a year
So my conclusion is that screw custom ROMs. It might just be my device but that's how it plays out. I'll be much more careful to buy a phone that will have real support in the future, like the SGS II, Captivate, and SGS III do/will have.
Oh yeah and about my sig, that is the only ROM that I've gotten close to working 100%. And he's not a gtg, but he's got more support than big devs like that ever did, so if you're a sheep and need to use custom ROMs go with MoM.

I apologize, but I strongly detest the statement. I do respect every bit of what you have said, but I really do think that it is just a matter of personal use.
I have ran Aeon and other amazing custom ROMs and so far the best I have tried was Zeus 6. There are a few kinks, but hey-- it works!
Consequently, though, it's all a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer the debloated stock and customize it their own (i.e., build.prop tweaks, etc).
What I am getting at here is that there is no need to bash other custom ROMs. Although you did not point your finger on any specific one, but it really means a lot for people to like the developers' work. It's an Android Device... This is the main reason we got this: open source.

I get the opposite results of u bro... my lag on stock is sooo bad that I was about to throw my phone on the ground as hard as I could. Ics with some tweaks was awesome, jellybean should be really good if it ever comes. Now on my tablet stock on that is pretty good, with aosp it would fly though.
Trolling like this is unproductive and is intended only to offend those who contribute to this device. My vote is that someone close this thread, and that wayzata start keeping his opinions of devs to himself.
Make sure you zip it up, this is going to be one of those threads, chief haha

Plus, I agree with ryanscool, any time I have to use stock B3, everything is laggy. Personally, I think that Sammy just did such a crappy job on official GB and used halfass or dirty fixes to make it work. So when ppl try to mod, the crappiness comes out...
There are tons of work being done on the Infuse and I was here when ppl said development was dead; you gotta appreciate what's here man.
My advice Way, stay with stock and stop these random threads broskie

I honestly don't see any xda recognized developers replying to your posts. They most likely have better things to do. I'm no dev, and haven't claimed to be. I'm not mad or even remotely upset, but I do think that you're being a troll. It irritates me enough that you're one of the few people that I'll ever choose to ignore on this site - and I must say, for me, that takes a lot, so congratulations on that.
By the way, here's what you've said directly, and it implies plenty to justify people being irritated with your trolling.:
