i have a brodit iphone 3g holder (non active but you can adjust the sides) and i reckon if i used a silicone case i would fit nicely inside it.
might go for this holder anyway, could do with the power
any ideas on RRP?

How much is it expected to cost and why is the pic upside down?

Pic is straight. USB connection for charging is at the top of the phone..

for HTC Touch HD was really good.
Probably I`ll buy for SGS as well

Hope the charger is 1mA

even at 1mA it's not powerful enough to charge the battery when using the GPS
i'm looking for a 2mA car charger

The estimate prices you can check from DSL Developments
- http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/Samsung+Galaxy S i9000-Brodit-Holder.asp
Prices may vary when the products are wider in the shops.

Now I do like Brodit, but I may have to get my hacksaw out according to these pics.
Unless Im reading it wrong, there's a big flap of plastic obscuring the camera lens.
I like to record my car journeys you see - for the times I get into an accident with a less than honest person who invents witnesses.

that's a great idea!
i've always used a separate camera for that purpose, because i bike and drive, it's extremely important when you are on a bicycle as most car vs. bicycle goes either unreported, or car always win the debate even though it's the car's driver fault.

Off topic (but discussed in topic) I've just purchased this 2A charger http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2A-car-charge...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item45f367d712 cheap and cheerful no holder but provide the correct power for maximum use of the device

Isn't a 2 amp charger way overkill? I have a 0.7 amp samsung charger and that charges my phone just fine while running mobile maps.

i ordered a 2 Amp charger from another source, i already have a generic phone holder that works for all phones and PDA
no, anything less than 1 Amp will not charge your phone, if you keep the screen ON, and using GPS + using Bluetooth
1 Amp will keep your battery from falling down drastically, but it is still not enough to charge the battery meanwhile all the features are ON
2 Amp is only enough to keep all those features running, and charger the battery.
that comes from experience using the HTC Athena, which is just as much of a power hog as the SGS i9000

It's also available on DSL, for £37.97 delivered. Have ordered mine

my universal 2A phone charger + universal car holder combined cost less than $20 delivered all from DealExtreme that's less than 14 euros, and they are good quality too, the same stuff you'll find at any of the better known e-stores.

Brilliant. I came looking for info on this, as my current charger in the car acts like a USB connection... Thanks.
I have the £20 Brodit holder, maybe I should have got the active one though, keeps the cable a bit more out the way.

There is also a similar model with a charging recess to take a spare battery. I have that and have found to work well. I will see if I can find a link tomorrow.
Only real drawback is the flying lead connectivity... I still hanker for the simplicty of dropping a device into the cradle and having it mate with a built-in multi-connector rather than the fiddle of plugging in the less than elegant uUSB flying lead. The price of the ultra-thin form factor I guess.

TG01 docking station
I just bought two of these - £3.99 each including postage, can't go wrong. Just got them this morning and they look great and do the job, finally a decent stand for the TG01
I have finally found the source I obtained my pair of docking stations - similar to the previously quoted example on eBay, but these came from a supplier in Germany and have a built-in recess with charging capability for a spare battery in addition.

That's correct - but with the side mounted uUSB port on the TG01 and no mating port on the bottom such as was typical on earlier devices, it's difficult to see how they could have done much else. It works fine though apart from the slight niggle of having to plug in the uUSB lead.

SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS TO ORDER THIS STUPID MOTHER BLEEPING THING...
Ok, no more capital letters, so here is the story, I go on amazon cuz I liked the idea of having a cradle for this device. Yeah yeah, it is old now, but I love my TG01. I will own this phone for a while. So I go on Amazon.de (keep in mind... I live in Japan) and I find this AWESOME (sorry I lied about the caps) cradle, and as the Germanz would say, "zee kruadloo izt aweeesome." Unfortunately I am in Japan and can not buy it. So I signed up with a freight forwarder and then bought it under their name, and hopefully this 25 dollar item will not cost my 200 in the end. Take a look everyone, even has a charger for an extra battery in the back, made specifically for the TG01, as soon as I get it, i am going to cut the cable off and mod it with a 90 degree angle cable and then I will have the perfect dock.
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0039IJL1O
Yeah, I searched all day long to find this somewhere else, somewhere for cheaper shipping and handling, in total this 25 EURO item will probably cost me at least 70EURO to get it too me... wow... I am retarded.
-Kilinsane.
Hi Kili,
Good luck with the cradle - looks the same as the one I previously posted about - in which case should do good service. One tip - the second battery charging slot is very handy, but does have one quirk in that it doeesn't seem to be happy with a completely flat battery being put in to charge. In that case just sits and blinks - but if the battery is maybe 2/3 discharged or less then seems fine. I've noticed that my (completely separate device) very decent AA and AAA NiMH programmable battery charger also doesn't like fully flat batteries - it will refuse to charge them until they've been started off in a dumb charger first.
Let us know how you find the cradle when you receive
Best regards,
Kevin

Nokia Fatboy wireless charging pillow

Anyone knows when will this goes on sale? And for how much?
It's designed for the Lumia 920, but since it also use the Qi wireless charging standard, it works with the N4 (confirmed by a N4 reviewer on youtube, can't remember which video that is though).

I'm not buying a charger for a third of the money I spent on the phone, no matter how fancy it looks like.
Looks like I finally know what to ask for for X-Mas from the GF. She always gets pissed because anytime I want something I just buy it instead of waiting to get it as a gift.
EDIT: I just sent her the link and her response was "If you buy that before Christmas I'm going to punch you in the face." ...looks like I did a good job this time.
I think the FatBoy looks cool and easy to carry when travelling, we just need it to go down in price!
Does anyone have a clue if it's actually cushioned (inside stuffed with some sort of foam etc.) or if it's just covered in a pillow sleeve? Reason I ask is I plan on having one of these on my bed, since I sleep in a big bed and don't use a bedside table.

Thanks for the pictures...how stable is the phone on that charger? It's pretty small, looks like it could easily fall off
Update: the charger seems to be switching on and off keeping the screen on at times, when the phone is OFF it charges fine.
Wonder if its software related?

Hi, any update if the nokia Qi charger would work? Did you managed to test the phone with the chargers on display? appreciate it. thanks!
For those of you interested in the Fatboy Pillow, do note that inside the pillow part is the exact same DT-900 charger that many have reported problems with (see jmquez above). Not sure if the pillow cures those, but it's worth keeping in mind before spending ~$100.

Thought i'd post this on a few of the threads regarding wireless chargers so people can see that there are other options out there other than the LG pad, nokia pillow etc...
Found this whilst browsing for other QI chargers. Looks quite nice and seems to have a rubbery surface to prevent the phone from slipping.

2100mAh 8Wh S4 mini battery for Relay

Hi folks!
Referring to the previous thread by @Guiyoforward and his great question, I thought it is worth to post it here, because I have tried and tested this one now and it is working with satisfication in contrast to my earlier tries and fails with different batteries as some of you might remember.
The battery from Samsung Galaxy S4 mini matches perfectly, there is no issue with the back cover as the thickness of the battery is the same to the relay battery.
You just need to cut a small piece on the edge of the battery in the left corner (as seen in the first pic below) in order the pins touch the mobile plug: Take the battery to a solid place, I then used a knife, positioned it on the inner part of the edge, one time very slightly used the hammer and took that small piece away with my fingers. (just 5 seconds work) You can also do it on a different way of course as you wish.
When you put it into relay, it looks like this:
{

}
on the right side of the battery, there is about 2mm slit, you can either fill in there with something or can also leave it as it is still stable enough. Even if you move it to very right, there is no issue with the plug, because the pins are still touching it.
The OEM battery of S4 mini has 1900mAh.
So I went for Polarcell battery which has 2100mAh and 8Wh (w/o NFC, though there is also one with).
Unlike the other batteries I tried, there is no issue for charging up to 100 %. And finally one which works fine.
So, in case you are interested, good luck and enjoy!
Awesome!! Just a quick question. Any battery wiz could tell me if a 3 pin s4 mini battery (the ones I can find here) would work? Best, g.
I am afraid it just work with 4 pins, because of the gaps between the pins. maybe there could be another solution for your issue
@Guiyoforward
I have checked it today for you, on the battery you could remove the part of the gaps easily, then the three pins can touch the battery. it seems like the yellow surface is only one part on the battery, thus it does not matter how many pins could be used to touch. Though I dont know why they make exactly 4 or exactly 3 pins - maybe there is a reason or maybe not. You should check this first

there may be also other brands especially in your country.
for me it wasnt a matter whether with or w/o NFC. i realized that only after i have ordered though, so if i had found that above earlier, i would ve had ordered there.
but i am happy with mine as well, as i never ever needed NFC.
I've tried this one (with NFC) and it works great!
You don't need a hammer, just scratch 2-3 times with a sharp knife at the edge.
But how can I test NFC?^^

Thanks, I just ordered one. Should be here sometime next week
Very cool! -- Wish I'd seen this before ordering my extra batteries last week! >.<
By the way, this makes a lot of sense (that it works well and charges to 100%). The reason the other batteries never fully charged (at least the one in the other thread) was because they were 3.7v (4.2 max) batteries. Meaning the most voltage they would ever put out is 4.2 volts -- whereas our phones expect a 3.8v (4.35v max) battery. And the battery you show above is definitely a 3.8v battery.
(That's why they would never charge all the way. -- Additionally, that's also why they got so hot and didn't last very long. Overcharging a Li-ion/Li-po battery [i.e. charging it at a higher voltage than what it's rated for] will damage it, as some of the lattice will be destroyed during each overcharge.)

Magnetic micro usb adapter /cable

So you'd rather have something stick out than some scratches only visible if you specifically look for them? I wouldn't even noticed them if didn't read this few days back.

I agree. Anybody who knows me personally will tell you that I am anally retentive when it comes to the condition of my gadgets. Seeing someone use a phone with a cracked screen induces almost Jack the Ripper levels of rage in me but this isn't a huge problem. I have had this phone for around 5 days now and can see some very very small scuffs on the bottom of the charging port but only when I hold the phone very close to my eyes and specifically look for them.
It might also help that I haven't used the cable that came with it. At work I charge the phone using an old Blackberry cable and at home I've either used the cable from my PS4 controller or a high-speed fabric threaded one that I picked up on a market in Hong Kong last year. None of those cables have small studs on the micro-USB plug that I have seen on some other cables over the last few years. I have no idea what the included cable is like as it is still in the box untouched.
I wouldn't be happy if something that affects functionality shows up over time too.
Actually Mi Max USB port is very well protected from getting loose over time with that tight frame opening and that's why it gets some minor scuffs. I'd rather have that than loose port with weak electrical contacts. That's exactly what I had with my previous $850 Samsung Note3 in less than 6 months of use. Mi max won't develop this because USB cable connector is supported by the frame, not the port only...
micro USB
I believe that the micro USB - is a big mistake. Its construction took not engineers, and a herd of old. Built on a design twist on the wrong side. Back Lighting. Look into the micro USB - you see an unfortunate engineering decision. It's like Apple revenge, and we are paying the price. 5 contacts arranged on a plastic plate of 0.5 mm thick. Which hangs in the air. After 2 years of daily use, this plastic (probably made from waste and old bottles) turns into a rag. I have a phone with a cable fell onto the pillow !!! Now the connector loose. This occurs when the decisions are made by intriguers, not engineers, but the entire planet obeyed. Where were the engineers at the factories, and even in China? Are you afraid to say too much words and held on to his salary?
Based on the foregoing, Type-C with 24 contacts - even sillier.
Whiter than a weak structure, not protected from the slightest mechanical impact, it is difficult to come up with.
Perhaps a little magnetic cable will extend the life of my micro USB connector, although the charging current is reduced by approximately 25%.
In the USSR before the shot for wrecking the economy. In some ways, my grandfathers were right.

Best Wireless Portable Charger?

I'm seeing some on Amazon with super suspect reviews. Like, one of them has 99% 5-star reviews. Come on, dude...
Can y'all share some LEGIT portable wireless chargers? Preferably some with REAL fast charging.

got it now. Works more as OK for this price. Can charge also if the device is in the cover. The HW looks professional. QI charging with stand works only if you put the phone horizontal on the stand , but this is ok. Think was a good deal. Shippment needs 3 weeks.
After some weeks using I can say it was a very good deal. Works perfect with my Note 9 on travel. I can really highly recommend this QI charger. Use it on my business trips including powerpoint presentations in combination with an little HDMI adapter and on the evening to view Netflix videos in the hotel.
I don't want miss it anymore...
I've got to get that!
I think using the descriptor “best” is relative. What may work for one may not work for another.
Take this product:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077QRXLF6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
10000mah battery pack, usb 3 ports, qi standard. Display shows exact charge numerically. Even shows the voltage coming in and voltage going out of the ports and what the qi is sending out.
There is a led ring that shows light white when charging and dark blue when charged.
I like these so much I bought 3 for the 3 notes i have.
EDIT: does charge them with the samsung military grade case for the note 9 series as seen in the photos (may be hard to see the actual case but both units have the case on )
They look pretty cool. The light looks a little too bright though? Also, the top surface looks quite slippery?

Does look cool, I like the bright light, but I'd definitely want it to be optional, you wouldn't want that next to your bed when trying to sleep haha.
And yeah that super smooth surface does look like the phone would easily slide off, although it would be negated by a case that had some grip.
Not sure what happened, might just be a temporary thing, but it's currently unavailable?

I’m sure this is not designed to sit next to your bed at night. Its mostly aimed at people on the go /traveling.
The light ring is not bright. In a darkened room it will be noticeable, sure.
The top surface has plastic (shipping plastic). You can remove this plastic overlay as you see fit
Ive had these for about 3 weeks. I have used them 2-3 times per week (just to test on the charge times) and am very happy with the product price point and features.
You can also charge the product up whilst charging a qi enabled device (pass thru charging)
Does anyone make a car phone cradle holder with inbuilt wireless charger?

Lots of people do wireless charging cradles for cars - I have an iOttie, two QiFulls and (my favourite - so good that I bought 3 of them), Samsung's own one.

Of course you are right, but for me personally is size and power (20000mah) decisive. And some small things like the vertical stand, the non slippery surface and the size (like the phone itself) seem to be thought-out....

I think using the descriptor “best” is relative. What may work for one may not work for another.

^^^ thats why there are more options out there because not everyone has the same feature requests. I don’t particualry like portable upright chargers and the fact I have 3 of these means the 10 000mAh X3 (30000mAh? ) wlli be plenty. And if they are not, i have two portable power banks.
The product i listed here is just another option in the mix... not trying to steal thunder away from any one product..

The last thing I needed was yet another power bank (I have a couple of really hefty one - 26,800 mAh from Zendure and 30,000 mAh from iMuto - as well as a whole raft of smaller ones given away free at various trade shows), but none of them do wireless so I had to get one of these as well.
Ordered it on amazon.de and it arrived here in the UK in a couple of days. Initial impressions are favourable. It charges my Note 9 even in its Spigen Tough Armor case, and I like the ability to have the phone at an angle. It also seems to do passthrough (i.e. wireless charge the Note 9 while also being charged itself).
There's a USB-C socket for input (haven't tested whether it can also be used as an output) as well as MicroUSB in and 2 x USB A outputs.
yes, is no bad

Well, getting bogged down with semantics is a waste of time. I think most of us generally agree that when we say "best" we're implying that the product performs as expected and that it suits most of our needs/wants.
That charging pad you shared looks promising but it sucks that it's no longer available on Amazon. I hope more OEMs jump into this portable wireless charging game. We need more options, that's for sure.

I feel you on this. I'm down to two right now. One big one with enough amps to charge my laptop quick enough and a smaller Anker one for everything else. I want to replace the Anker one with a wireless one. Less cables to carry around.
