HTC HD2 stuck on "Loading..." screen when downgrading - General Questions and Answers

Well, I've updated few htcs before and everything went fine. But there's always the first time...
I upgraded my htc hd2 spl 1.42.0000 to hspl2, wanted to upgrade rom/radio too, but couldn't find any rom I do like, and then I got no more leisure to play with it. So there was only hspl2 replaced on the device and that's it. Everything was fine for a month or two, then suddenly the phone function stopped to work (couldn't register into network anymore). Wanted to send back to factory for repair, but to avoid warranty loss I wanted to downgrade the hspl to stock spl. Downloaded stock image at htc site (was 1.48.something), did everything exactly in a way described in the video tutor, and - got stuck on light gray "Loading..." screen after the colourful one, and nothing more. Tried to update ROM via activesync for test, got stuck at 0% and that's it (although the connection is fine), googled a lot, browsed a lot of xda-dev... still nothing useful found.
Technical info + what shows in the colourful screen:
Eastern Europe HTC HD2
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me, what it is, and how to fix it!
Thank you in advance.

I believe when you did the original HSPL, you selected the wrong version. The SPLs that end with '.0000' are the stock ones. Assuming the HSPL was done correctly it should read "2.08.hspl". Try flashing HSPL again, this time select .hspl, then flash your ROM. Should be good to go.
Edit: When people say you need a stock SPL to send it in for warranty, Im not sure if you need the exact same one it came with or not. Because you basically just reflashed a stock one anyway, you might be able to just send it in for repairs as is, but Im not 100% on that.

Thanks for the tip and trick. Unfortunately, like I said this doesn't help, cause flashing doesn't work. Tried hspl2 and hspl3 as well. The screen turns 3-color, then gray "Loading..." like it was when flashing from sdcard, and stucking on it...
When installing hspl3, the software on the computer says (while having that "Loading..." screen on the phone):
CRITICAL ERROR
Flow: 00000001
Error code: 00000002
Description: USB Connect failed!
(although ActiveSync shows connected and sync/exploring runs fine)
I'm becoming really unhappy with this one.

What OS is on your PC? Are you making sure Anti-Virus is disabled before flashing? If Win7 right click on the HSPL and choose 'run as admin'. Your using a USB slot on the rear (main motherboard) of your PC and not one of the front ones right?

It suddenly started to work today. I have no idea, what happened, did the same steps as before. The GSM function is still broken, but now, as the flashing worked finally, I'm able to send it back for repair without a risk to lose warranty. Mystical.
Thanks anyway for your time and willing to help.

...had the same these days on an HD2 which I successfully up-/downgraded at least half a dozen times before.
Did the MTTY 29 thing (again, surely the 6th time, never had any problem before) and afterwards had the issue you describe.
What helped me was re-flashing the HardSPL. Afterwards all worked 'as usual'.
Hope that helps others, Franky

Ok
and if my usb plug is broken?
I can't flash from sd, because it stops on the 'loading...' screen. I even tried the gold card method and still stuck on 'loading...'.
Wat's even worse my current system is rather unstable and WM sees only 208mb of ram...
Any suggestions?

T-mobile HD2! Problem Flashing rom
Hi Guys,
I'm a new guy in this great site, because I bought a T-mobile HD2 recently, via china, and it's not a fake!!!
But I want to update its rom to put the android2.2 's system.
I have tried several methods find in this site. But during the rom's flash, my phone shutdown and the connexion between Pc and phone switch off.
The phone is only in sleep mode and not off.
Can you help me to resolve this problem?
My system :

The system will shut down"

Memory inside SD card storage 7362 Mo
PC :
OS Windows XP SP2
ActivSyn4.5 Ok, but not synchronization with outlook, but connexion between PC and phone is OK.
Use update Rom Flash : Rom T-mobile v3.14 (run OK, no problem until progress bar (phone in sleep mode).
I tried SD card's method, unless sucess.
I used qmax to find SD card's number. But the memory's value is 3,5 Gb and not 7,3G.
Well, I think, I have forgot anything!
Thanks for your help!

If you can get to the bootloader (four color stripes) then do so and then connect the phone to the PC. Wait until word 'serial' changes to 'USB'. Then start update on the PC (normally click the _RUU_(...).exe and follow the steps).
If fails please write at what point.

Another Phone Stuck in Bootloader

As I have read through the threads in this forum, I am not the only one with this problem, but for some reason none of the solutions make sense to me.
Earlier today, I was trying to use the "Prophet AKU2.3 pdamobiz customized rom released [G3 Only]" to downgrade and didn't notice that my XDA NEO is 4G (the tool is for 3G only). Now after each boot the screen is stuck with the Boot Page showing:
IPL 2.15.0001
SPL 2.15.0001
GSM 02.19.21
OS 1.0.13.21
I am so pissed at myself and so frustrated.
I have tried hard-resetting and the problem still persists. I am able to get into the Bootloader by holding the camera button and pushing soft-reset. I am just not sure where to go from here. I connected the phone per usb to the computer. The phone indicates that it's connected to USB. Every ROM upgrade file I have tried gives me an update error, since they are all expecting the phone to be connected to the computer through ActiveSync.
I bought this phone in Germany and currently live in the US, so it will be tough to send it back for repairs. Plus, I don't even know if I have the original receipt anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Extract the rom file you are using to flash your phone, to a folder on your pc, than Extract the file i attached ("ROMUpdateUtility-NoVendorID.zip") into this folder. than connect your phone to pc and double click on "ROMUpdateUtility-NoVendorID.exe".
cross your fingers.
reboot the computer first
I guess the trick was to reboot the computer first. After the reboot, I was able to use the provided No_Vendor_ID Updater to reflash again. Now it's all set. Thank you very much for the advice.

Poblem with reverting to original stocks

Hi there, I tired to issue my problem in some other threads, but without any response so far - probably my problem is more specific.
I was using AHEN 6.5-R6i Rom for few weeks when some time after charging my Raphael was not powering up at all. I presume no relation between Ahen rom and the problem (as described further).
I bought new battery and it occurred that probably power charging circuit was damaged, because it newer completed charging, the device was always very hot and discharged in few minutes even when turned off (until completely drained out). What is more the USB connector works only for charging (maybe damaged data connection circuit?).
As a result, before returning the device for guarantee servicing I wanted to downgrade all the roms to the original ones. As advised I started with Radio and OS stocks, but after bootloader update (from SD card, cause my USB doesn't work) I got only "upgrading ROM code error" and the device tries to load some ROM, but putting any on SD card doesn't work anymore.
Any suggestions how to cope with this situation?
If you need help please provide us with important information. So fill your signature first. Mainly if you have hard-spl or if you bought olipro cid unlock and what exactly you have done until now. Also wether your device is CDMA or GSM? If it is GSM than you have to first restore Stock Radio first, after that if you cid-unlocked the phone you have to relock it again. Than remove hard-spl and install stock ROM. But if your USB is broken, i think there is no chance to remove Hard-SPL neither to restore to stock. Remember that when you are in a bootloader and you do not see that the device is connected to activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center it does not mean that it is not connected. Just check you hear the sound indicating that something is connected to usb in vista or windows xp.

=> done
Mainly if you have hard-spl or if you bought olipro cid unlock and what exactly you have done until now.
=> chnged SPL to OliNex, OS to AHEN 6.5-R6i, Radio to version required by AHEN rom
Also wether your device is CDMA or GSM? If it is GSM than you have to first restore Stock Radio first, after that if you cid-unlocked the phone you have to relock it again. Than remove hard-spl and install stock ROM.
=> I retracked the changes as indicated changing both radio and OS to original ones, but had just problem at last step = flashing oryginal SPL (because I made it from SD).
But if your USB is broken, i think there is no chance to remove Hard-SPL neither to restore to stock.
=> Hmm, anyway right now I am stack because bootloader is "loading ..." every time I reboot the device.
Remember that when you are in a bootloader and you do not see that the device is connected to activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center it does not mean that it is not connected. Just check you hear the sound indicating that something is connected to usb in vista or windows xp.
=> I tried to use some terminals to see if I can execute commands directly or see any output, but I haven't even succeeded to open the port. Maybe I am doing something wrong - I give it a try once more tonight.
So what version of SPL is bootloader showing? If it's showing something like 1.90.0000, you are in bootloader and USB circuit is not damaged you should be able to normaly flash ROM from your provider from bootloader. So download the ROM from your T-Mobile it should be some exe. When you see bootloader tricolor screen coonect usb cable from Touch Pro to computer and run the exe soubor with your desired ROM. It should work if everything is OK!
If your device is showing 1.90.OliNex, than i cant help you because i do not know how to remove Hard-SPL from bootloader, maybe it is possible, but for more experienced tech guy, who i am not
PS: Hope you did not bricked your device because Hard-SPL and removing Hard-SPL is all done with cable, you cant do it from SD, and you cant flash original SPL before removing Hard-SPL!
hmm, it seems that I have managed to flash, at least partly, the original SPL from SD card, cause it shows version 1.90.0000. Partly, because it states that the previalus rom update was not successful :-(
In this state (in boot loader mode) I can't even charge battery so I have to do it externaly. Connecting to PC doesn't work (PC USB and cable are fine). The only thing that change after connecting to USB charger is that device gets hot ...
i am sorry to say, that you probably bricked your device... Maybe someone could help with more advanced hardware, software support, but i am not the right person...You can try to put your device to service and hope they will not recognize what have you done, but it depends on your stock SPL version. I got czech T-Mobile and stock SPL was 1.69.0000, so maybe yours was the same...
Next time please read more carefully, search or ask someone if you are not still sure, things about flashing SPLs are very dangerous if they are not done carefully...
Can anyone help this guy? He tried to flash original SPL over Hard-SPL, and therefore it is not looking very well for him to unbrick his Touch Pro...
So ... I got it from the service and they changed the motherboard and the battery, no charges
It was brickes, because of cherging circuit issue.
Unfortunatley I send it back to service, because the loudspeaker is not working ...
Actually I am the same exact boat as the OP. My phone stopped charging and its because the USB port is broken. I need to change the phone back to stock but if its not charging its probably not going to get a connection to the computer either. I read that on at least the Hermes it was possible to flash from the SD card. This is not possible for the TP? Thanks

You can flash the ROM, radio, splash screens etc etc from SD card - you will then have to send the phone back with hard spl still installed as you need a usb connection to remove it.
Dont assume you cant get a usb data conenction though - try it and see!
I did try the connection, didn't work. How do you flash from the sdcard? I just dont want to brick it.
Please read this thread on how to flash (including how to flash from SD card).
Again, (assuming you have the correct hard SPL currently flashed) you can flash a ROM, radio & splash screens etc to your phone from the SD card (one at a time) but as previously said you need a USB connection to flash hard spl (dont attempt it from the sd card).
So, my Raphael arrived from service after the second repair (loudspeaker not working) - it seems all works this time
By the way, that is correct that a USB connection is necessary to flash hard spl, but .. I was desperate because the USB was broken, so I tried it from SD. The effect was good enough for the service - the Hard-SPL seemed to be reverted to oryginal one, however the booting was stacked at loading the ROM

PLEASE help me save my phone!

My phone is T-mobile Wing Hera110 with IPL:4.26.0002 and SPL:4.26.0000.
I flashed succesfully my phone with a cooked herald rom with USPL (flash center) and worked ok.
When i tried to do same thing again for bad luck the phone disconnected from cable and after this the battery came off during the flashing procedure.
Now the phone can only show the bootloader (red, green, blue) image and nothing else.
I tried with originals roms that i downloaded from here and i get 270 error or 294 error. The roms were not corrupted i beleive.
What can i do to flash again my phone with original or anything ????
Thanks a lot guys and keep the good work!
Follow my GUIDE to get things right again..

look , just try different roms and would you tell me what is your PC OS ??? some windows like 7 need to get the USB driver from internet to let the pc know the ppc as an external usb device , so make sure the icon above near the clock that says "remove safty appears to make sure they are both connected.you did not brick your phone as far as you see the three color screen shows up, check the things i mentioned and keep me update
i encountered the same problem somehow and i could not flash through flashcenter so i tried to flash with SD memory and it worked for me , make sure the name of the rom is right and also try flashing with another sd memory ,the last step i know is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417930
I use pc with windows xp sp2 and a small icon that says "remove safty" appears when the phone is connected. I tried many official roms like (TMo_Wing_RUU_Update_4.26.531.4.exe,HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe,T-Mobile Wing Software_4.26.531.1.exe,RUU_Atlas_TMO_US_4[1].10.531.3_4.1.13.37_02.83.90_Ship.exe,RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship.exe ) and i get error in 1% or 2% .
I would like to test the goldcard method but when i tried to make one i had problems with perl pakages..
(I have 1GB mikrosd card..)
Need a 256MB or Less card that is formatted via Windows. I posted a pic here:

[Q] Connection Error

dear all,
first at all: I´m completely new here, so hello.
I finished reading the Wiki twice, also the guide from 'mskip' (Flashing your First GSM Raphael Rom (For Noobs)). very good and sounds very easy.
now I downloaded this file: RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3
when I´m trying to flash, it results in a "error 202: connection". could the windows mobile device manager be a reason, because here is just an explanation with activesync. as I use win7 64bit, activesync will not run.
I also checked lots of posts here, but did not get a right answer which could lead to a solution.
btw I have the "MDA Vario IV"-version.
greetings, tris
EDIT:
Update: Now I downloaded "TAEL ROM v6.28244 RC2".
Connected mobile to PC, waited until it is connected via 'windows mobile device manager'.
Proceeded with the update (my image is 1.69.111.6) until the screen turned black and a progress bar is shown (0%). now error 262 appeared. have to unplug USB cable, reinstall battery and restart. old system is still working. what am I doing wrong? btw, same error on my laptop with win7 32bit with fresh installed 'windows mobile device manager'.
EDIT2: okay, and same on my other laptop with winXP and activesync.
You need to flash hard spl before doing anything else. Try putting the phone into bootloader (hold volume down, then soft reset), then connect it to your PC once it's in the tricolor screen and run the hard spl exe.
After that, just flash roms off your sd card. Make sure it's FAT 32 format, rename the ruu_signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh, put it on the sd card root, and then go into bootloader and follow the instructions.
volume down and reset done. phone switched to tricolor screen. then I started 'RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3', phone switched to gey screen with progress bar. 30 seconds later after 0% progress: error 262 appeared
EDIT: also when trying to update via bootloader, my image (1.69.111.6) will be left blank, I can´t see the version number which is currently installed.
I just hope you have a GSM TP/RAPH...
RAPH300 -> "T-Mobile MDA Vario IV"
but why do you ask? do I have the wrong software?
Just hear of those bad incidents with CDMA phones and GSM ROMs is all...
What does it display on the bottom of the screen when you boot into the tricolor screen/bootloader before you connect it to your PC and then after?
first serial, later USB
oh my god! *facepalm* okay for all the noobs out there: look at your phone. if you use HardSPL for the first time, you have a short timeframe to confirm "unsigned access to bootloader" via touchscreen. if you don´t do so, you will result in connection error 202 / 262.
thank you all, it works

Flashed the wrong ROM and know will not boot, please help

I searched all over google and other fourms here, but no luck, here is the problem:
I wanted to flash an Arabic ROM on my HTC vox (s710) , I flashed first the Vox's ROM (RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship)
and it worked great, but found out that there was still no Arabic support.
I got this ROM (HTC_Excalibur_ARA_1.15.415.11_4.1.13.41_02.88.90),
as I thought that the device was already unlocked, it would accept any ROM for any device, turns out it doesnt.
Just before the flashing is over, it gave me an ERROR : FLASH WRITE, and my HTC just went dead in a heart beat.
Know the phone has that Green LED at the top on, as long as its connected to the laptop or to the battery, but just wont boot - DEAD
(P.S -- When connected to the laptop, something activates but still cant access the phone)
I tried booting in safe mode by pressing and holding the camera button and connect USB cable, but doesnt work, tried couple other stuff but still no difference. Please I need help , is there something I can do ? is it dead forever or can it be still fixed
Sad - you flashed an Excalibur ROM on a VOX - so the Vox is plain dead
While the devices are quite similar (same chipset and even same NAND storage) it still seems that the bootloader is not identical and this is killing any further access.
In theory you could flash via a JTAG physical connection but this is for true HW freaks and you also need special HW + SW to do so.
Bypassing the CID check (with USPL or JumpSPL) also kills all sanity checks in the bootloader (SPL) that prevents cross-device flashing (and a dead device after doing so).

So I am doomed, or is there another easy way to reflash it or something.. If i took it to the nearest HTC center, would they be able to do something or not ?
There are ways to reflash, but all rely on the SPL being OK. Sadly this is what you killed with the wrong ROM - so there is no hope. I believe that service centers just use the same USB connected SW upgrade via SPL - there is no reason to have any dedicated HW devices as normal users cannot kill their device the way you did.
A glimpse of hope could be that only the USB and LCD access is wrong and the SPL would work otherwise - not very probable though. Is the device still charging? Do you see orange and green light when connecting to charger?
If so then you may search for the upgrade via the "Gold Card" method. This is a specially prepared (some key in the bootsector of the card) sd card which has the .nbh file stored in root directory. Boot + SW upload would follow a special sequence then which you would have to execute "blind" as LCD does not work. Again: I doubt the SPL is ok enough and the "blind" upgrade would have its own challenges.
Actually I went to the service center today and I was surprised when he said that he was going to perform a JTAG. Didn't really know that they could do that, but yeah.
Thanks anyway.. Just for future reference is there an Arabic ROM for HTC s710, because i searched the internet for over a week and didn't find one.
wow, this is great service - just tell what they will charge you for that - and how long it takes. Maybe they send it to some special center where they can do that, so it takes time.
Do they have an Arabic ROM for the Vox which they could put there?
