Flash on camcorder - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Are there any apps or a hack to let me turn on flash while I'm recording video. Unless of course I am overlooking the option.

On FroYo it's an option. You can either just wait till we get FroYo, or if you're rooted, install LED Desire Light, and then just turn it on and go to camera. The light will stay on.

There's nothing within the camcorder app, but i say some people have the LED Flashlight widget, so they turn that on, use the camcorder, then shut it off.

Ok, cool, and I do I have that widget

Video Recording question

I was curious, is there any way to turn on the LED while recording video? I ask because while it is awesome that I have flash for still photos in dark areas, I can not record video when the lighting isn't optimal (ie. in a salsa bar)
If anyone know how to do this, or knows of an application that can achieve this, let us know!

Root your phone and download the Nexus One Torch in the Market. Once you have it, turn on the LED flash, switch to your camera and start recording. Easy!

Is there any way to use camera w/ flash light during call?

I've been finding myself in many situations where I would love to use my camera in dark/dim places while on a phone call, however, I get a message saying:
"flash light is disabled because of low battery power, cold weather, or phone call."
I tried using an app called LED Desire to take pictures, but it will just shut off during the snapshot. However, it does work well with the video camera on call or off call (pretty nice).
Is there a way to have the flash light work for the camera during phone calls?
Thanks.
Guessing this is a no go?

Download LED Light from the market. Works greats for the camera and video
You must be on the phone a lot o_o.
Try LED Light.

it is designated app to flash LEDs when sms and calls come in even in vibe or silent.
Thanks for the replies, but like led desire, led light does the same thing when taking pictures while on the phone.... the light just forcefully shuts off after snapping a pic causing a black pic. Haha and yes I talk a lot and like to share my surroundings while on phone

Stobe led for epic

Anyone know of a stobe light app for epic
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try app called "color flashlight". Under the effects section, there's a strobe light, among others.
I'm sure you mean a strobe light using the LED on the back of the phone. I've been looking for one, too, but all the ones I've seen in the Market don't seem to work on the Epic. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I am speaking in terms of the LED. Anyone anything?

Try TESLALED and get the donation version he's one of our own here. Great program.
There's a very long delay between hitting the widget led switch (on any app) until the LED actually turns on. It's not likely strobe will work until this delay is removed, if at all possible. The led on my wife's moment turns on instantly by comparison.

+1 on teslaled.. Best light app on market, and widget is perfect..
Traced with Ultra Keyboard from my *Epic*
Thanks for this....works great! I've been looking for an LED light that would work on the Epic for a while now.
The flashlight works fine but not the strobe effect.
There is no strobe LED for the epic because the sensor is made by NEC the libs are loaded each and every time the LED turns on and off, hence the long delay.
Ok, I did a quick test, if I go to the camera and click the Camera button quickly I get almost the same effect....why can't it be programmed the same way and if you say the library is loaded every time, maybe keep them loaded and just call upon them? How does the camera work where it detects you pressing the button and turn on the LED so quickly? I am sure it can be done, but I am not an android developer so I have no clue.

[Q] Using camera flash as a flashlight possible?

I was just messing around with the LG QR Reader app, and I noticed it keeps the camera flash on while it scans in low light. And if you keep tapping the screen every few seconds, it'll stay on and can be used as a flashlight.
I was under the impression that it couldn't be done with wp7's? That the type of flash the phones have couldn't be kept open? Does this mean another coder could write an app that keeps that light open until the user turns it off?
Admittedly, the flash will "blink", or turn off for a half second ever 3 seconds or so. Maybe it has to do that to reset the flash allowance or something.
Thoughts?

Since you have a LG, not sure, but there's an app for HTC devices that does this, the flash can even stay on while video recording.
HTC FlashLight, of course use at your own risk & you need your device unlocked to side load.
Mango OS update is also releasing the API's necessary for 3rd party developers to access this. So far just the OEM's have access, and only HTC made an app using the led for a flashlight.

I was just at a U2 concert, and used the LG QR reader to activate the flash in lue of a lighter. I don't have a lighter, and everyone with one, the wind was blowing them out.
I think that once the proper camera API is rolled out with Mango, the flash will be accessable by developers, not just the manufacturer (like it is now).
I think the flashing that you noted is related to the camera thinking there is enough light to not need the flash. When I use it in the dark, it stayes on.

It is not usable on HTC mozart, because mozart using Xenon flash instead of LED...Furthermore,HTC is kinda abandon mozart and this app, they just stop update any of their apps.
If you switch to video mode you can turn on the light from there and it will stay on while you record. Just remember to delete the video afterwards...
There should be an app for that, available for ALL WP7 users.
At the moment only HTC users can use the LED flash as a flashlight.
If Samsung, LG, etc are unable to provide such a basic app mad, it shall be MS to provide it to all their customers.
Sweet guys thanks for the answers!
Even more reason to look forward to Mango
yu ca go to zune marketpalce there's a few flashlight's some are free.
Mango doesn't enable this. At least, there's no API I can see that directly supports turning the lamp on and off.

[Q] Camera flash not working but flashlight apps work

I have a strange problem that I can't seem to find an answer for. I have an SGH-I727R rooted with stock ICS ROM. I don't know when this started happening so I'm not sure what triggered it, but the flash on my camera doesn't work.
My LED works because my flashlight app works, and when I go to take a picture in the dark, the camera will turn on the light for auto-focus, but when I go to actually take the picture, the light turns off but doesn't flash for the picture. I've tried 4 camera apps and they all do the exact same thing.
Things I've tried so far:
- I thought it had something to do with settings on my flashlight app (shaking the phone to turn on the flashlight) so I wiped all data and uninstalled it
- turning off the phone and pulling the battery
- used Titanium Backup to reloaded the last backup of the stock camera
Because the light works, it's not hardware. There must be a file missing that triggers the flash mode for the LED or something. Could reloading the stock ROM fix this problem? It's really annoying not being able to take pictures in low light. Again, the light works during auto-focus, but doesn't actually flash for the picture. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
