I've been finding myself in many situations where I would love to use my camera in dark/dim places while on a phone call, however, I get a message saying:
"flash light is disabled because of low battery power, cold weather, or phone call."
I tried using an app called LED Desire to take pictures, but it will just shut off during the snapshot. However, it does work well with the video camera on call or off call (pretty nice).
Is there a way to have the flash light work for the camera during phone calls?
Thanks.
Guessing this is a no go?

Download LED Light from the market. Works greats for the camera and video
You must be on the phone a lot o_o.
Try LED Light.
get flashlight alerts forgot where i got it.. Ill post all my found apps sometime soon.
it is designated app to flash LEDs when sms and calls come in even in vibe or silent.
Thanks for the replies, but like led desire, led light does the same thing when taking pictures while on the phone.... the light just forcefully shuts off after snapping a pic causing a black pic. Haha and yes I talk a lot and like to share my surroundings while on phone

Anyone know of a stobe light app for epic
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try app called "color flashlight". Under the effects section, there's a strobe light, among others.
I'm sure you mean a strobe light using the LED on the back of the phone. I've been looking for one, too, but all the ones I've seen in the Market don't seem to work on the Epic. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I am speaking in terms of the LED. Anyone anything?

Try TESLALED and get the donation version he's one of our own here. Great program.
There's a very long delay between hitting the widget led switch (on any app) until the LED actually turns on. It's not likely strobe will work until this delay is removed, if at all possible. The led on my wife's moment turns on instantly by comparison.

+1 on teslaled.. Best light app on market, and widget is perfect..
Traced with Ultra Keyboard from my *Epic*
Thanks for this....works great! I've been looking for an LED light that would work on the Epic for a while now.
The flashlight works fine but not the strobe effect.
There is no strobe LED for the epic because the sensor is made by NEC the libs are loaded each and every time the LED turns on and off, hence the long delay.
Ok, I did a quick test, if I go to the camera and click the Camera button quickly I get almost the same effect....why can't it be programmed the same way and if you say the library is loaded every time, maybe keep them loaded and just call upon them? How does the camera work where it detects you pressing the button and turn on the LED so quickly? I am sure it can be done, but I am not an android developer so I have no clue.
Hello. I am Now on leedroid rom. I loved in cyanogen the notification power widget, most of all the flashlight. I could have strobe, but the best thing was its brightness. With root access I could get 3x more light then any other normal application. I had no power problems...no flickering, no crashes.
I found the application nexus torch, on the market, which looks just like the torch app on cyanogen same interface. It's as bright, but doesn't work on my phone. Extra brightness flicker, display goes off...cannot use at all. But I am pretty sure it is tue same app built in cyanogen.
Is there a way to get that powerful brightness working on leedroid?

Well, can't you just use the Torch app from Cyanogen? I would think that would work.
Ok but which app was that? I am afraid the app would only work on cyanogen. The only app I found similar to that one is nexus torch, which doesn't work.

I found a thread about the cyanogen torch app...downloaded the .apk. At the moment I am with MIUI which has an application that when opened displays a black flashlight with a red switch. That uses only ONE led !!
The torch I am speaking about had the option to strobe, and not only it used two LEDS...it used much more power ... "death ray" (just like the Nexus Torch application which is somehow not compatible, although it really looks like the same ?!).
Try Extended Controls
May be in pull down..as a lightning bolt
Is anyone having problems with the camera app being blacked out when trying to use it? This latest time I experienced this I tried another camera app and it was also all black when I tried to use it, but previously I was able to use the other camera apk while the stock one didn't show anything /:
Just to clarify what I mean by blacked out is that it looks like someone is holding their finger over the lens when trying to take a picture.
Usually a reboot solves the proble, but that's kind of annoying plus my phone tends to resend messages after a reboot for some reason.
I have noticed that the camera doesn't work while media scanner is running. This has happened to me a few times.

Hi I wonder if anybody has heard about software to use the camera led for messaging warnings?
That would be clear to see! instead of pitty htc led
It would KILL your battery and possibly burn out the LED flash. I wouldn't do it but it IS your phone.
Wasn't me!! I didn't do it!
iPhone's have that function, where an incoming call is made the flash on the back flashes a couple times.
I have light flow from the market and I think it has this option

THANKS! Now we're getting somewhere! i love XDA and it's members.

Link above this post works great on my sensation xe, it comes with strobe settings, timer and battery protector.
free to try, buying is 99ct
There's a 'Thanks' button for that.
Hi,
I just saw today, that there was a very weak red light just next to the proximity and light sensor. It looked like it was flickering at a very high rate!
I tried to restart the phone normally, but the light didn't disappear. After that I tried a reset by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. That made it vanish.
What the f**k was that all about???
Best regards
Casper
If you were making a phone call, the red flashing light is normal It's the proximity sensor. If you were doing nothing, it should not be seen the red light, might be faulty.

That red light is in fact the actual proximity sensor and it's in use while in a call. If you where not in a call then that was a strange occurance unless you ran some of these sensor testing apps...
Well, I wasn't in a call. I had been calling someone through the hands-free in my car on my way to work, where I discovered it about 10-15 minutes after the call was finished...

That was an odd one... maybe it was a temporary fluke? Strnag nonetheless...
I often use face unlock. The red light turns on when the front cam turns on.

any tips on how to trouble shoot this? I wish I could figure out which app (if any) is causing the proximity sensor to stay lit.
I've heard it's related to an autobrightness tweak, but it appears even when tweak is not applied, across multiple roms. The only commonality between my roms is the apps I have installed.
I've tried multiple proximity sensor testing apps and, it's working.. it's just always lit up.

Same here. Have to restart to get it off again. Any help? (TrickDroid 4.3)
Anytime you make a call by any means other than handset to your ear, the proximity sensor will come on and stay lit until reboot or until you make another call via handset.
Example:
Place call> turn on speaker phone> hang up - proximity sensor will stay lit after call;
To fix do this:
Place call from handset (not using speaker phone or hands free) and hang up right away, or reboot device and light will go out.
Same seems to go for calls through hands free as well.
These guys are lying its a bomb isn't it obvious flashing red light HTC controls it if u do something they don't want u to do boom ur hands are no more why do u think the phone heats up so much its a warning don't believe me read the thread in forums about heats in the one s another reason they don't want us to remove back well see the bomb :what:

Hi All,
My One S also does this. I'm finding it a pain to have to make a call after using speakerphone to turn the proximity sensor off again. Has anyone found out what the cause of this is?
I've tried clearing cache partition with HTC support but still no fix.
Hi all, I forgot to mention that the issue on my phone only happens when the call is ended with speakerphone active. If I turn off the speakerphone before ending the call it does not happen.
Hey brothers.. I had the same problem with the proximity sensor not turning off.. Even after so many restarts resets... Finally I just opened the original task manager of the one x, and push "stop all" .. and YES!! the sensor was turned of and stopped lighting.. After that I tried calls with speaker phone or not.. No problem.. Now it is working how it has to...

You maybe have turned off Viber doing this: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=80972874
Does it come back after restarting Viber?
Sometimes a restart fixes the problem.
I had the same problem. I uninstaled Viber and the light disipired.

Later I realized that Viber is the reason. Yes. But now it seems that Viber is fixed after last update, and no red light when viber is turned on
