Samsung i9000 Galaxy S Luxury Desk Cradle/Holder - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Did anyone try this Desk Cradle out?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Samsung-i9000-Ga...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item23087d70c8
looks quite interesting, and you can easily connect the usb cable for sync and charge.
but it's a bit pricey for just a piece of plastic

Well, it is made in Korea so you could expect it to be high quality compared to the ones from China which can break at any moment (had one and never going to get one again if I can resist). Plus, this stand seems to be able to be used indoors and in cars which is pretty cool, IMO.

i was reading the other post about chargers and i think i'll prefer this other one

Brodit car holder

Hi
I have a Brodit car mount for my Galaxy Nexus... and I will be getting a Nexus 4.
According to http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-Nexus-4-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-specs-comparison_id36069 the Nexus 4 is only 0.76mm wider and 0.16mm deeper than the Galaxy Nexus ... so do people think you could make the Brodit car mount fit?
The mount is fairly hard ABS plastic - a bit of wet n dry paper culd shave enough to get the Nexus 4 to fit?
Based on the photos I've seen the USB charging port looks to be in the same position (dead centre, bottom)...
Has anyone else already thought of this?

I'm in a similar boat, I'm thinking of trying the Optimus 4G or the Infuse 4G cradle for my Nexus 4. Both are almost the same dimensions...
Got a reply from Brodit about the availability of Nexus 4 car holder.

I can gladly inform you that we are going to make holders for this Nexus.
We waiting for the unit to arrive, then we probably need a couple of weeks before launching.

I am using a free holder I got from the Confused.com driving mate app a while ago but only until Brodit release theirs. The windscreen sucker is ridiculously good but the holder is just ok. It does let me use the phone as a dash cam which is handy but it doesn't give me masses of confidence that it will hold the phone for more than a few months until the grippy pads and mechanism degrade. Also I want an active holder so I just slide it in instead of having to connect the charger separately.
Brodits are awesome and I've used one for every phone since my G1. Definitely beyond compare.

I have a Galaxy Nexus mount and the N4 does not fit. It slides down about 3/4 of the way and then gets stuck. I have heard that the Nexus 4 fits the Samsung Infuse 4g car mount according to a user on r/Nexus4.

Thanks for the heads-up! I checked the relative position of the USB socket on Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 and even if you made the Brodit holder fit, the usb wouldn't line up.

I have had a Brodit holder for my last three devices, whilst I love the way they fit I must admit I am getting a little fed up of having to buy one every time I get a new phone. I am thinking something like this http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=511165 (scroll to the bottom of this page for more info http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/tag/brodit-adjustable-holder/) adjustable holder will work. Then I can just set the right width when I get a new handset.
Any thoughts?

I am using an older universal mount from ProClip (US version of Brodit) and it works fine with the Nexus 4. I have used it with and without the bumper and with a little adjustment it fits just like their custom versions. If you can live without built-in charging then this is a great solution.
Between the universal mount, Bluetooth audio kit and the long battery life of the phone, I'm pretty much all set.

I've currently got the adjustable width passive one you pointed out and it works fine with the N4 in a TPU S-line case. Also used it with no problems with a naked N4 and the Galaxy Nexus I had previously.
There seems to be decent range of adjustment available so I can see it being well suited to support future handsets too.

To hell with wireless, will it fit Galaxy S 3 docks?

The Nexus orb may or may not ever come out, if it does it wont be for many months and the other options are either horribly ugly, gigantic, or dont work right, so screw it. Google's wireless charging idea looks to have been a waste of time, money, and made the phone thicker and heavier than it could have been.
There are a ton of Galaxy S 3 docks that look decent and dont take up a lot of space. Anyone know if the Nexus will fit without much stress on the USB connection (since the S3 is slightly thinner the plug would be closer to the edge)?
I have the official Samsung dock for the att galaxy s2 and the nexus slides in perfect, and I mean perfectly

Just b/c the official Google charging orb isn't out doesn't mean it's a waste. Many of us are doing just fine using 3rd party wireless charging options.

I agree. Wireless charging is cool and all, but right now it's just gimmicky. I wish they had put in a microsd or LTE instead. But I still have love for my N4 and a bedside dock would be nice, I wonder if this would work?

No one that owns an LG wireless charger, and maybe some of the other ones, will agree with you. You couldn't pay me to use a generic USB dock or sgs3 dock now that I've tasted wireless.

Come on people... The phone was $350 for the 16gb so I think I can afford to spend $40 on an LG wireless charger so my phone looks pimp while it's sittin there charging on my desk. If the phone has the features you bet I am going to try to utilize them! Break out your wallets and go get one so you too, can join the "pimp" club! Just say NO to micro usb chargers!! LOL
I don't know what you guys are on about but wireless is amazing. Not having to worry about forcing the USB cable into that tiny slot in the dark is amazing.

Never quite understood the advantage of wireless charging , besides the cool-factor. Presumably you can't really use the phone whilst it's charging? Plus it takes longer to charge and it's less efficient...

My Energizer Qi mat charges VERY fast - faster than a wired connection, actually (personal experience). Clearly you don't have a Qi charger.
It's much faster and MUCH easier than orientating a micro USB and fiddling with plugging it in - especially in the dark.
Just lay it down in the dark and your head hits the pillow. It's not a "cool" gimmick. It's magical.

Galaxy Ace II Accessoires, Gadgets, etc.

Since I'm missing a thread about accessoires for our lovely Ace II, I decided to write here something about the gadgets I bought for mine yet:
Car Holder
OmniHolder Case Compatible In Car Solution
Awesome, exactly what I needed.
+ Very solid
+ Easy arrangeable through rotatable plate
+ Includes a self adhesive disc for textured surfaces
Case
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 S-Curve TPU Case - Black
Good case, I feel safer since I got it.
+ Looks good
+ Fits perfect
+ Hardwarebuttons are good accessible
+ Doesn't interfere with the camera
Screen Protector
mumbi Displayschutzfolie Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Schutzfolie AntiReflex antireflektierend
First screen protector which I got perfectly placed on the first try.
+ Fits perfect
+ No reflections
+ Feels "better"
- Display quality suffers a bit
Battery
Avanto POWER Akku für Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 / GT-I8160P mit 3500 mAh Li-Ion inkl. Akkufachdeckel - ersetzt EB425161LU - schwarz
I were really excited about this although I already got acceptable battery life with the standard 1500mah battery (up to 50 hours without using it much (Internet connection active all the time) or about a day with extensive use). I was aware that the phone would be bigger but I didn't expect that I would end up with such a chunk. It were almost 3-times the original size and that's just ugly. At least it's still compatible with the car holder and lies well in the hand. Unfortunately I'm not able to test the battery life because im going to send it back tomorrow.
+ Battery life should be amazing
+ Included cover fits perfect
- Big size
- Hard to find a suitable case / other accessoires
- Simply ugly
Bluetooth-2-Aux-Receiver
B-Speech Rx2 Bluetooth Stereo-Empfänger
To be delivered
I would really appreciate if you guys could write some little reviews about the gadgets you bought

I have the same battery, although I only paid around 5 EUR from ebay. I love it. It makes the phone much nicer to hold, and I only have to charge the battery every 4-5 days! I highly recommend it.
Sooo finally found this old thread and Imma make it active again with some new batteries I found and need some feedback.
2450mAh/1700mAh
Those are 2 of the batteries that got my attention and I have 2 questions to ask, 1st ones had anyone bought any of those or generally bought any similar products from those people and 2nd...how much thicker those 2 are? I mean okay I don't think I will need another back case for the 1700edtion but will I need a larger one for the 2450 one?
Thanks in advance.

Samsung wireless charging pad review

http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-wireless-charging-pad-review/
Just for clarification, i seen the 920 and the HTC DNA wireless charging in action, neither has to be place in direct center of its charging pad(nokia fatboy, and the lg model), the DNA charges as fast as if it was plugged in. So sadly this is just a poor implantation by Samsung, now i have to cross this off of my to-get list when the phone is out.
And for the people that wonders what is good about wireless charging, is mainly just a laziness factor. Think of it this way, you'll likely to have the same phone for 2 years, and for 2 years, you'll have to plug/unplug a phone every night for the next two years, that's a lot of hassle you're saving yourself with a wireless charger, it only gets better if you're the type that runs multiple devices. So between your ipod, fuel band, bluetooth headset...is really nice to have one less item that you don't have to plug in every night.
I consider myself as lazy as it gets with electronics, so that's why I have charging desktop docks for both my SIII and N7, they keep the devices mounted at a nice angle and I never have to use two hands in order to plug in either device.... I use the Seidio Innodock Jr. for the Samsung devices, used since the Skyrocket, and an eBay dock for the N7, roughly the same concepts but the MicroUSB port is rotated 180 degrees for the two devices
WHEN I get wireless charging for the S4, I'm going to attempt at mounting it on the wall and using some of my PuGoo, cut down to fit the charging pad, and make it happen.... the review refers to centimeters of distance for charging to work properly, and this stuff is pretty thin, maybe 3-4mm thick, so it shouldn't be an issue, then I'll have wireless charging on the WALL - the ultimate in laziness!
Oh, and who wouldn't want the SLIGHTLY thicker battery cover with wireless charging? the camera lens port is now flush, just like my white "carbon fiber look" battery cover is on my SIII, and was going to get one that did that again with the S4 - these phones need to stop coming out thinner and thinner and concentrate more on stuffing bigger batteries in smaller spaces! They could have put a 3,000mAh battery under the hood of this if they kept it the same thickness as the SIII going off of the thinner 2,600mAh battery they put in the S4!

Did you see the size of the phone afterwards? OMG. Huge!
That should come with suspenders to hold your pants up once you pocket it.
I'm going to keep my eyes on this, and order some suspenders or a utility belt to go with it
60 dollars seems steep. You could get an external anker battery with 12k mah for like 20 bucks and you wouldn't sacrifice size...these batteries seemed worth back then but with the cheap availability of power banks they seem irrelevant now.
I'll still keep an eye out though because it would be pretty sweet.

an UnNecessary expense!
Why would you need it on a higher technology device such as the Galaxy Note 4?.... I may want an external battery pack that's compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 spec (Samsung's adaptive quick charge).
If I'm to spend $60.00 on a big heavy battery of a mediocre life warranty, I would rather my money spent on a battery I can use for other things such as to charge my Bluetooth Headphones
not to mention the case is an awful way to make an expensive $900 smartphone look as if you pulled it from a cereal box!
I'm using Battery Guru https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app
and my Battery life is PHENOMENAL!!! SO I WOULD THINK TWICE ON THIS EXPENSE?.. as the previous post of above said would be a smarter choice to get an external battery.
I will have to keep and eye out for this. I had one for my note 2, note 3 and s4. Use then all when I go on trips and am away from a charging station. This looks nice. Will have to see how this stacks up with the other brands and see if they sell them for a deal.
I had a Zerolemon for my S4, battery life was phenomenal with it! But it made the phone so huge and heavy, my arm ached when I talked on the phone for more than 10 minutes. I can only imagine how big the Note 4 will be with such a battery... and it's scary!!

Wow, that's going to make the phone almost an inch thick.

Everyone has their opinion. Some are surprisingly bold in their urging theirs on others.
Nobody really needs it. After all it already has a battery that works. It's simply a matter of preference.
Some would rather not have to bother with lugging around another external battery pack and it's charger and trying to find a way to leave it connected in their pocket or holster while they go about their busy day from place to place hoping they don't accidentally bend the connector over and possibly break the power port on their $900 smartphone that appears to have an insufficient battery life to carry it through the day even though it's "phenomenal".
Some of us don't concern ourselves about others' opinion as to it's looks, weight or bulk. Some of us only care about the device performing based on our particular needs / wants.
And some of us are VERY reluctant to run an app that demands such invasive permissions as
Identity - access to accounts
Location - Precise location (GPS and network-based)
Photos/Media/Files - modify or delete the contents of your USB storage
-test access to protected storage
in order to save battery life.
Why a battery saving app needs my serial #, google ad id#, precise location and ability to modify or delete the contents of my USB storage is concerning to me.
For those of us in that situation, no need to think twice about what fits our preference because the smarter choice for us is to go with what works best for us.
Some would advise that you'd be foolish to spend $900 on a phone when you could just as easily make calls and text from a dumb phone or that if you insist on a smart phone, it would be far more prudent and financially responsible to purchase a Note 2 or other smartphone on ebay or Craigslist for far less money. Yes, it's true, you could get something other than what you really want but you want what you want.
As for me, I love to hear about others ideas and findings, allowing me to make educated choices about either what I need or just simply want.
That's part of why I decided on the Anker 7800mah extended battery for my Galaxy S4 and the Zero Lemon universal rugged case that would accommodate any size extended battery. Yes, it was a brick but I didn't care 'cause I got the quality battery I wanted with a case that worked. I could also get a day and a half of moderate to heavy usage without having to plug in somewhere. I didn't have the inconvenience of either not having my phone with me as it lay somewhere else charging or carrying my external battery pack around to charge my phone, being very very cautious not to snag the cord and damage the power port on my expensive phone as I get my job done running service calls, up and down ladders, in and out of my van, with frequent need to talk to tech assistance for the product I was working on.
It also saved me the hassles mentioned above while on an overnight hikes where pack weight and unnecessary extra stuff is a consideration.
The best part though is it fit the bill for what I wanted. The "smarter choice" is subjective depending on your needs / wants. Even though for me the smarter choice is to keep my privacy rather than just hand it all over to app developers, and though I won't use it because of the invasive permissions, I appreciate you sharing about the Snapdragon app and your choices regarding charging. It allows me to see the pros and cons, and to learn about more of the multitude of things I am ignorant of to make an educated choice.

I had a Zerolemon for my S4, battery life was phenomenal with it! But it made the phone so huge and heavy, my arm ached when I talked on the phone for more than 10 minutes.

Wow, that's going to make the phone almost an inch thick.

Bluetooth is a wonderful thing. No need to hold a huge tablet up to your ear.

I understand but even with BT you still need to carry the phone around with you, to each their own.
U even lift bro?
i pre ordered mine as well! i don't mind the bulky case because i work construction so it gives me a piece of mind if i drop it or something. and ive heard great things about these cases on the other note phones! cant wait!

Why would you need it on a higher technology device such as the Galaxy Note 4?....
not to mention the case is an awful way to make an expensive $900 smartphone look as if you pulled it from a cereal box!

I bought the Zerolemon shockproof for my S4. It has served me well through many drops. That one looked a lot like an Otterbox to me. Only issue was the built in screen protector was very poor and sat above (not touching) the screen, so you had to press the protector down until it touched the screen to use the phone. I took it off (easy, just a little adhesive used to hold it in) and installed a Seidio tempered glass protector.
Hoping they offer the same case for universal fit with any extended battery. I'm looking forward to Anker's extended battery (in development). On the S4 they offered 7800mah vs. Zerolemon's 7500mah. I expect they may very well up the up the capacity vs. the Zerolemon again. Their warranty is 1 year and their customer service is outstanding.
Pros: it lasts very very long time, reduced shock holster
Cons: expensive, 1.5lbs heavy, huge appearance, wife hates it
Had a zerolemon on my note 3 and would NEVER buy another phone that didn't have a zerolemon extended battery and rugged case as an option! I HATE charging my phone every night because I hate the cord getting all tangled up with me while I am lying in bed trying to visit websites and watch netflix. I don't mind the extra weight or thickness because I prefer a heavier thicker phone so I know that I am actually holding something! It's all about choice and options people, you like a feather thin phone that's up to you but for me, give me a solid rugged case and a 10,000 mah battery and I am in seventh heaven!
