Did you see the size of the phone afterwards? OMG. Huge!
That should come with suspenders to hold your pants up once you pocket it.
I'm going to keep my eyes on this, and order some suspenders or a utility belt to go with it
60 dollars seems steep. You could get an external anker battery with 12k mah for like 20 bucks and you wouldn't sacrifice size...these batteries seemed worth back then but with the cheap availability of power banks they seem irrelevant now.
I'll still keep an eye out though because it would be pretty sweet.

Why would you need it on a higher technology device such as the Galaxy Note 4?.... I may want an external battery pack that's compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 spec (Samsung's adaptive quick charge).
If I'm to spend $60.00 on a big heavy battery of a mediocre life warranty, I would rather my money spent on a battery I can use for other things such as to charge my Bluetooth Headphones
not to mention the case is an awful way to make an expensive $900 smartphone look as if you pulled it from a cereal box!

I will have to keep and eye out for this. I had one for my note 2, note 3 and s4. Use then all when I go on trips and am away from a charging station. This looks nice. Will have to see how this stacks up with the other brands and see if they sell them for a deal.
I had a Zerolemon for my S4, battery life was phenomenal with it! But it made the phone so huge and heavy, my arm ached when I talked on the phone for more than 10 minutes. I can only imagine how big the Note 4 will be with such a battery... and it's scary!!

Everyone has their opinion. Some are surprisingly bold in their urging theirs on others.
Nobody really needs it. After all it already has a battery that works. It's simply a matter of preference.
Some would rather not have to bother with lugging around another external battery pack and it's charger and trying to find a way to leave it connected in their pocket or holster while they go about their busy day from place to place hoping they don't accidentally bend the connector over and possibly break the power port on their $900 smartphone that appears to have an insufficient battery life to carry it through the day even though it's "phenomenal".
Some of us don't concern ourselves about others' opinion as to it's looks, weight or bulk. Some of us only care about the device performing based on our particular needs / wants.
And some of us are VERY reluctant to run an app that demands such invasive permissions as
Identity - access to accounts
Location - Precise location (GPS and network-based)
Photos/Media/Files - modify or delete the contents of your USB storage
-test access to protected storage
in order to save battery life.
Why a battery saving app needs my serial #, google ad id#, precise location and ability to modify or delete the contents of my USB storage is concerning to me.
For those of us in that situation, no need to think twice about what fits our preference because the smarter choice for us is to go with what works best for us.
Some would advise that you'd be foolish to spend $900 on a phone when you could just as easily make calls and text from a dumb phone or that if you insist on a smart phone, it would be far more prudent and financially responsible to purchase a Note 2 or other smartphone on ebay or Craigslist for far less money. Yes, it's true, you could get something other than what you really want but you want what you want.
As for me, I love to hear about others ideas and findings, allowing me to make educated choices about either what I need or just simply want.
That's part of why I decided on the Anker 7800mah extended battery for my Galaxy S4 and the Zero Lemon universal rugged case that would accommodate any size extended battery. Yes, it was a brick but I didn't care 'cause I got the quality battery I wanted with a case that worked. I could also get a day and a half of moderate to heavy usage without having to plug in somewhere. I didn't have the inconvenience of either not having my phone with me as it lay somewhere else charging or carrying my external battery pack around to charge my phone, being very very cautious not to snag the cord and damage the power port on my expensive phone as I get my job done running service calls, up and down ladders, in and out of my van, with frequent need to talk to tech assistance for the product I was working on.
It also saved me the hassles mentioned above while on an overnight hikes where pack weight and unnecessary extra stuff is a consideration.
The best part though is it fit the bill for what I wanted. The "smarter choice" is subjective depending on your needs / wants. Even though for me the smarter choice is to keep my privacy rather than just hand it all over to app developers, and though I won't use it because of the invasive permissions, I appreciate you sharing about the Snapdragon app and your choices regarding charging. It allows me to see the pros and cons, and to learn about more of the multitude of things I am ignorant of to make an educated choice.

I bought the Zerolemon shockproof for my S4. It has served me well through many drops. That one looked a lot like an Otterbox to me. Only issue was the built in screen protector was very poor and sat above (not touching) the screen, so you had to press the protector down until it touched the screen to use the phone. I took it off (easy, just a little adhesive used to hold it in) and installed a Seidio tempered glass protector.
Hoping they offer the same case for universal fit with any extended battery. I'm looking forward to Anker's extended battery (in development). On the S4 they offered 7800mah vs. Zerolemon's 7500mah. I expect they may very well up the up the capacity vs. the Zerolemon again. Their warranty is 1 year and their customer service is outstanding.
Pros: it lasts very very long time, reduced shock holster
Cons: expensive, 1.5lbs heavy, huge appearance, wife hates it
Had a zerolemon on my note 3 and would NEVER buy another phone that didn't have a zerolemon extended battery and rugged case as an option! I HATE charging my phone every night because I hate the cord getting all tangled up with me while I am lying in bed trying to visit websites and watch netflix. I don't mind the extra weight or thickness because I prefer a heavier thicker phone so I know that I am actually holding something! It's all about choice and options people, you like a feather thin phone that's up to you but for me, give me a solid rugged case and a 10,000 mah battery and I am in seventh heaven!

motorola made a good step with the razr maxx. it's just about 2mm thicker and its battery is almost twice as large as the original razr (1780 ->3300mah)
I'd gladly trade a couple of mm and 10-15-20 grams weight to have a ~2500mAh battery in my One S!
Well, I think from what HTC had learned from customers, it could be a valid statement to say thin phones are better than large batteries from the sales point of view. The reason is simple, we want a phone which looks great even if the battery is not that ideal. Because when we take our phone out, it is the appearance which attracts us and others not the numbers presenting the battery capability, visual impression always stronger than spec sheet.
Just look at the MAO defect thread here, see how many people still stick with the black version even if there are well known problem/risk and they have to send the phone back several times to try their luck. (If I were that in love with black version, I would do the same) Does battery capacity annoy them? Compared to the MAO thing, not at all!!
So, I back HTC's statement only from the sales point of view. Of course a phone with both the same thinness and larger battery is better, but given the current technology constraints, you have to compromise one to another right? And I would happily go for thinness rather than 3000mAh.

It all depends on what u call "great battery life". I call "great battery life" when I have to charge my phone once a week. (happend to tattoo with larget battery).
S2 I call extremly bad battery, One S I call not that bad battery

All I need is my 14-16 hours of use. and thats pretty much what i get on most phones. i hate big batteries and oversized covers

Well, it seems we can have both. I would prefer a larger battery but if my One S gets the kind of battery life we've seen so far I will stop caring about how big the battery is. And like Adjust said, its all about battery management.

Around 8mm is the ideal size. As long as a battery lasts 12 hours throughout the day I'm fine with it.
It's all about having a sleek device that is eye catching and brilliant at the same time. Battery can be conserved through options, build design can not.
Why is everyone racing for a thin smatphone, I hope HTC reads all these comments because the majority of us would rather have a longer lasting battery

Because of my work and preference, I am on my S4 quite a lot--- make phone calls for 1-2 hrs per day, emails, stream google music, fb,etc. I don’t know many things abt extended battery before and think I won’t like the*bulkier*feel of the phone with them, so I have to change my OEM batteries constantly, until I received one unexpectedly from my friend. It is a mpj 7000mah extended battery…not sure if it’s a good third-party seller without this knowledge…my friend is gonna upgrade to Note 3 and gave his s4 extended batteries to me.
Now I would like to get an extended battery as a back up to my backup rather than several oem batteries. The extra juice is definitely worth the extra bulk and weight! And the bulkier feel of it begin to grow on me..lol.. it's comfortable to*hold.

I began using one on early this year, I can't accept it at first but now I would be lost without it. I love my extra battery, never have to plug in when I am at work again and if I go out I am not worried about it again...
Having only a 5200mah extended battery (with a flipbook case glued to the cover), it does get me thru the day, most days.
I do feel more secure holding it with the extended battery, the standard (samsung) back cover is more slippery and the added weight and thickness gives more surface to hold on to. Had an extended battery on my last phone (galaxy nexus) with the same results.
Longer battery autonomy, better grip and harder to find a fitting case or pouch (thats why i got one with case attached to the back cover).

Sorry no intention to insult anyone just couldn't resist I would not put extended battery on my phone, because it makes it look like a brick, but then I don't relay on my phone for work like other people do and I can always charge it up since I'm in the office all day.
Extended batteries are no different then any other accessory for any smartphone . Some people due to their work situation needs a screen guard or rugged case or an extended battery . Personally I like how the S4 is with its stock battery but to be honest for my usage patterns it just isn't enough battery power . Between phone calls , facebook during lunch,various texting and music for the gym the stock doesn't cut it . I love being free'd from the charging cord and no longer wondering should I charge this thing before I leave the house again or am I going to have a dead paperweight . Id rather carry a brick for a phone then a dead one or until battery technology gets better .
Personally, I feel it made the phone easier to handle.My friend all agreed that it was easier to hold and felt more sturdy.
I agree with you guys but for me it's a no go for the simple fact that I can't use the Spigen Slim Armor View case with a extended battery.

But how long do you take to fully charge it from zero percent? And what charger do you all use, the original samsung one?
I just thought that charging it would take a long time too. But it shouldn't be a problem if you leave it on the charger overnight.

The samsung stock charger should put out around 1700ma.. so just divide your battery capacity (5200mah) by the 1700ma.. and you get ~3 hours.
Extd batt has been my favorite product on S4
I loved the zerolemon 7000mah for the s3, for me it was the perfect size and not having to worry about battery life is amazing. I Bought the ZL and felt it slightly to big for it to be comfortable. I am going to try anker.
It would be nice if it fits in my pocket.

This shouldn't be a difficult question to reason out for yourself. Do you really think if it was possible to cram 4300mAh into a battery of the same size, Samsung, one of the world's leading tech companies, would be total retards and use a battery with 30% less juice in their flagship phone? use your brain ffs!

That's wrong as well, not making it higher capacity is hardly going to make people go and buy more batteries from them is it, its going to make people go buy more batteries based on the false advertising from the likes of MPJ. And while I am on the object, I would love to know how the hell they get away with claiming the mAh that they claim on these things because it's plainly obvious without even going near one of the batteries that it isn't possible.
What WOULD make people go buy more Samsung batteries is if they had a 'premium' higher capacity version and sold it for a higher price. People would fall over themselves to buy it and Samsung would make a killing. Since they have never done this, I suspect it's highly likely that although it may be possible to squeeze a bit more out of the same size, the methods in doing so mean the battery is less stable, less reliable, and doesn't work for as long, as seen in all the batteries like this from Anker to MPJ.
Now what WOULD be interesting is a battery that is physically larger and takes up the space used by the water proofing. So you lose the waterproofing but gain a big chunk of battery power, now that I think IS possible, it just needs someone with the foresight to produce it. There are many people, myself included, who aren't the slightest bit interested in the waterproofing because we don't plan on dropping it down the toilet or into the bath every 5 minutes so would gladly sacrifice this for a nice bump in battery life.
I always buy extra batteries for my phones. Note 1, Note 2, S4, and now the S5.
I have yet to see a battery that was the same size as OEM and had higher capacity. Anker had one that I tried that had I think 100ma higher capacity, but when I placed the battery in my phone it was a tighter fit. So really in my books it was a bigger battery.
I am not saying its not possible to get higher capacity than OEM in a slim battery, but I have not come across a slim battery that met lofty claims yet. For this reason, I now tend to stick to an OEM battery as I can trust that it will operate in a predictable manner. Add in the waterproofing seal on the current S5, I would try my best to stick with a battery that maintains OEM dimensions.

I know this is blatant thread necromancy but the viewpoints left here are skewed at best.
I am what you would call a vaper. I work for a company that thrives on making and selling electronic cigarette juice. i also get to see how LI-ION Cells have evolved as LI-ION and LIPO cells are choice for our devices albeit more commonly in a tube cell form.
I have seen both 18650 and 26650 cell specs explode over the last year and to discount innovation and advancement in favor of an ideal that it will always be the same is rather preposterous. It all depends upon what is crammed into the housing. I have seen 2Ah 26650 cells with a 30a load rating and 6 months later here comes a 4.2Ah cell sporting 40a continuous with 60a 7 second pulse rating. I got to torture test these new cells as a daily vape as well as the old. The new cells were clearly head and shoulders above the old. Lipos are the same way. I have a cell pack in a 2s1p config that sports 4.2ah with a 65c/130c+ rating.
i'll spell the lipo bit out. A c rating in the lipo world can be used to find your ah rating. 65*4.2=273 continuous run amp load.
130*4.2=546 max pulse amp load.
the 2s1p stands for 1 pack of 2 cells wired in series for a nominal voltage of 7.4 (8.4 when fully charged.)
The point is the size of this pack is very small and packs a wallop compared to other lipo packs that have the same ratings but are larger in physical size. My pack however is top of the line from one of the most well known and reputable cell pack makers. The others are knock offs.
To cut it short perhaps the OEM LI-ION packs in our phones are the same way. Perhaps the OEM packs are of knock off make and the 4200mah packs that have been found are more efficient and of better quality. With the way phones are phasing out expandable storage in favor of "data hogging" cloud storage (which mind you opens you to risk of EXPENSIVE data overages) i would't be surprised to see our precious little phone companies like samsung and LG and others using cut corner tactics. Until i see actual usage and testing with results on a graph, i wouldn't pass judgement. You might just get your mind blown like i do just about every other day.

I wouldn't go to other companies since most of them are not water proof like the S7

I don't see a real reason to move from this phone.. I have not seen any relevant update in the latest smartphones.
Yes, you get a slightly faster processor -in real life usage, insignificant improvement- and a barely upgraded camera.. So unless you are just bored of the phone there isn't something really interesting out there.. The s7 edge? is basically this phone with a smaller form factor and edges that doesn't have any sort of special functionality.
For me, smartphones have been basically the same since the iphone 5s- galaxy s4- lg G2 -note 3 generation .. all the new stuff are just gimmicks and performance in real life barely improves at all, because the things that you can do with a phone are limited by the form factor and the small screen and companies have not been creative enough to deliver software that actually can take advantage of the increase in processing power and ram memory.
This phone had the potential to do a lot more stuff than it actually does.. for example: when you open windows in the browser the tabs should be located in the curved panel so you can switch between them easily (like in a desktop).. sadly companies don't give a sh*t about exploiting the potential of their phones a few months after you bought it.. you will get 1 or two updates that change a little bit the look of the notification bar and icons and that's it.. People should stop buying new phones that doesn't do anything new or better than their current phone. We are basically telling companies that we will buy any crap they release even if it barely have any advantage over a 3 years old phone.
Ridiculous high resolution? you have it (1080p was already crisp enough!)
Good camera? you have it
some curve? you have it
Marshmallow? you have it
Nougat? most note edge have an unlocked bootloader now, so eventually you'll have it
A note 7 edge is like us600 you can get a note edge on ebay for us200! it is ridiculous.

I agree with all your points. The only thing bad about this phone is the battery. It's cancer. It barely lasts for more than 4 hrs wih max sot of 1.5 hrs. Has to be on a ventilator(readowerbank) for most of the day. And the worst part? Samsung India seems to have branded this device as "obsolete" as Im not able to get an OEM battery from the various Service Centers that i have tried.
This device had the potential to be much much more. Poor dev support(no offence to the few lovely devs we have) , sub par battery is what limited its future prospects:crying::crying::crying:
Root the sucker and get a proper O/S.
Ebay for a battery and don't look back.
From what I've seen,most hardware upgrades are accompanied by more bloated "operating systems".
Why?
So they can sell you a new phone that's already out of date when it's released.

Well, in that case just get a nexus or a one plus whatever.. atleast with those you can try a bunch of different roms and mods to keep you entertained. Everyone is talking about the Google Pixel now.. but it looks ugly and boring as hell, for me it looks like a cheap Chinese phone with really cheap paint or an HTC from like 6 years ago.. if it wasn't a "google phone" nobody would even look at that thing.
If you get another phone be careful, it seems those days only T-MO is not blocking the bootloader.. get a phone that is confirmed to receive the new OS soon.. the last thing you want is to get a phone and be stuck in the same OS as your current phone for 6 months.
Within the last 10 days i have purchased a Axon 7 and got a LG V20 today. Gonna sell my Note Edge to a friend. I am currently leaning towards the V20 but the Axon 7 is putting up a dam good fight. Either phone would be a worthy upgrade for different reasons, sans the S-pen imo.
Don't see any reason to upgrade. .. maybe I will root. ..but i use skygo frequently...

T-Mobile still has NEW Note Edge phones at some stores around Atlanta. I am waiting on a warranty replacement for my Note 4, then I might jump to a Note Edge. I just don't feel like keeping a refurbished unit unless it's as good as what I had before. The one that died was in beautiful shape, I kept it in a bumper with a tempered glass screen protector.

It could be worth something one day, not many made and the curiosity of it could be a collectors item in the future.
I'm thinking of waiting for the Note 8 Edge, it's gunna have QualComm Quick Charge 4.0 and so just 5 minutes of charging will get ya 5 hours of battery life, along with much better battery safety and protection.
Anybody know where I can get a good battery?

Nope not yet and IDK what's happening with EHZ Studio who said they were working on making one.

I had the opportunity to try out this case upon release in exchange for an honest review. I have not been instructed on whether it has to be a positive or negative review, so this is completely unbiased.
First of all, this is not my first product by ZeroLemon. I had a case from them on an old Galaxy S3 years ago (back when you could take off the back of the phone and slide the extended battery into the back). I loved that case, and I loved the idea of ZeroLemon extending my battery so that I could go 2 days on one charge and not worry about charging during long days away from a charger. So I was very excited to try out this new one for my Note9.
Initial impressions: it does, as you would expect, essentially double your battery life (which is already superb on this Note9). Surprisingly, it never seems to QUITE refill your battery completely, which is odd since the capacity of the case is 20% larger than the capacity of the phone battery. I do like that I can easily go 2 days on one charge, like I could back in the day with my S3. I do like that it has a battery indicator light on the case so you know if it is charged. If battery life is one of your most important features, than this is absolutely a no brainer. It's not a huge case (for an extended battery, that is) compared to some larger ones.
The negatives: the case is sort of bland in terms of design. I like that they offer a blue one to somewhat match the Ocean Blue color of the Note9. Additionally, you lost some functionality that may be important to some: wireless charging, NFC (mobile payments), water resistance (IP68 rating), and the ability to transfer files (only can charge through the case). Now for some people, depending on your usage, this is not a huge deal. For others, it would be detrimental to their phone usage. So it really is up to you! Do you want insane battery life? Or do you need those other features?
Other notes: the case is easy to get on and get off. I have no concerns about damaging the USB C port with this as some have said. The case is slippery, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences.
All-in-all, I think it's a 4-star case. Great for some! Not great for others.
why dont these phone case battery companies just use wireless charging on the cases? A button to turn off/on the charging when necessary.

Yeah, they emailed me and offered me 70% off it I'll review the new one, haha. I guess I should do it!
Mine arrived today...the updated version. I had originally purchased another brand on Amazon that didn't support data sync and it was a dealbreaker so I returned it right as ZL released their new version.
Case texture and fit are very good. I had 2 goals with this case....Android Auto compatibility with my Alpine head unit and DeX compatibility with the Samsung dock.
Looks like this case gets me 1 for 1. The case allows Android Auto mode to activate so I can use Waze and Spotify, etc when driving. This was most important.
DeX was a no-go unfortunately. This was less important as I have a Tab S4 with LTE I can take with me. Still disappointed it doesn't work...but nothing in the advertising ever claimed it would. Just FYI for anyone interested.
Small review....I like the case better than I thought I would. It's a keeper.
I like the looks of the case and with the fixes, I think it is a good buy!
On the website I just read about not fitting with full screen protectors. What kind of screen protection did you go with?
