For some reason it works now.
Same here.
I think it was simply a server hiccup...

After the phone rebooted and failed when i click "Software Update" i get "no firmware" and it won't let me retry. Also should we even be trying to update from what I'm reading this update was not approved or released by Samsung.
. .
Yeah that doesn't work after every reboot i get "The Update was not completed. No update is applied to your phone". You hit "ok" go to Software Update and "no firmware" and i did change the date. So from this stand point i have no way to even check for a update.
I beleive what is happening is that the phone some how tries to "resume" the update when you click the 'software update' button. I get the "failed update no update" message every time i reboot my phone, and i have the 'no firmware' error. I restored a backup from yesterday, the failed update message went away and i could get to the check updates screen but it would fail to connect to the servers (and still threw me in to a 24h wait ((has anyone found the file/setting that has that info in it?))) so i restored the backup i did before i restored, and i got the failed update error once. but not anymore, and i am now able to check for updates and download it.. (still fails on prepairing) ((keep in mind this latest restore was earlier giving me the 'no firmware' error))
sorry for the runon.. im way too tired to care right now... blasted phone is tickin me off LOL its 1/2 updated and im not sure if its working 100% anymore
Same issue
I have the same issue. I updated my phone before going to bed, and I do not remember if it was successful or not. It looks like it was, from my build# and the fact that I have QuickOffice app now. I originally received the text that an update was available.
Since the update, every time I restart my phone (10+ times) it says "Congratulations! New software update for phone now installed. Phone is now ready for use".
However I just get the "No Firmware" when I try to update, where previously it would only allow me to check every 24 hours.
Firmware version. : 2.1update1
Baseband version. : I897UCJH7
Kernel version. : 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number. : ECLAIR.UCJH7

For this particular situation the only thing I've found in my research is to do a factory reset, which "solved" the message reappearing every time the phone boots and allows you to check for new firmware.
I was having the exact same issue and was able to use the Kies Mini to update. Super easy and worked perfectly! There is a sticky about how to do it in the main part of this forum

Did you try this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8394579&postcount=4 ?
It clears the log that doesn't let you try again for 24hrs, so this may also fix your problem. It's worth a try, anyway.

Ok, when I get home from work I'll try Kies. With all the issues reported with it, I was going to wait and see if they released an updated version.

Yeah this is not a problem with the whole "only able to check for updates once a day" thing. This is one of the many problems from the OTA attempt at an update.

I've only been experiencing this problem ever since i started using a MIUI rom, every version i use i still get the same problem of when sending a message and say someone just texted me and its coming through my message i just sent will automatically fail but then i still get the bar saying "message sent". Just wanna know how to fix this because its annoying have the little box pop up all the time saying "message failure". Is it a problem to where i should flash a new radio that will work better with the rom? Thanks in advance!

try from recovery to wipe cache+dalvik and see if it works
You can also try downloading the Rom again with a FULL wipe and clean installation like above post says wipe cash wipe dalvik, also try wipe data factory reset and clean install. Hopefully this will take care of the issues. If issues still persist perhaps it's a "bug" of sorts in the Rom? Are others expirencing this issue using this Rom ? Or just you? Does your mms work correctly using other roms? If so and clean install does not work you might have to try a different Rom until issue is solved. Have you tried mms fix? I believe in either android development or themes and apps they have a application called mms fix? I believe I remember seeing it. That's also worth a try. Best wishes .
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, mugen battery. please press thanks if I helped in anyway.

Hi,
my TF700t (stock ROM) gets error on many apps, Gmail stuck, Titanum Backup stuck, Helium Backup got error, stock Browser also, and many others as well. (small black window: report or close)
I unistalled Gmail to stock version, got error, updated via GooglePlay, got error, deleted all app data, got error, restore an earlier version, got error.
And many other apps too...
I cant imagine what is the solution, because I dont want to factory reset all the TF700.
I have no logcat
What is your opinion?

You didn't say what your error message says so it's difficult to offer any help.

Any error message, only the "Report" or "Close" buttons.
But I got new problem now...
I tried to recover old settings, but I got a bootloop. I didn't have TWRP or CWM on my tablet.
What can I do?

You'll have to give more info than any error message. Error messages tell you what the error is, if you can't say what they are now can we be expected to help you?
Anyway, all irrelevant now as you have caused a bootloop. Which app did you use to recover old settings from? Not sure how twrp or cwm would help you as you are stock so your only choice is to try a factory reset. I don't think you have any other choices to try unfortunately.
I made a factory reset via asus bootloader, this "solved" bootloop, but lost all settings and docs.
Thx anyway
Has there been a proper fix for the apk parsing error yet, I've tried a factory reset and also unticking the Motorola security features when setting up the phone?

i managed to fix it doing a full wipe and reset, then when the initial configuration ask you for your wifi and your google account, you must omit both.
then try to install an apk (now is the time to connect to your wifi and download something)

Please read this message. I an several other have MOTO G phones. We have one think in comment it has a serious problem installing any apk other then d/l from the Google play market. Here is the message.. Regarding :There was a problem parsing the package" issue.
I called Moto Tech support. Open 7 days 1-800-734-5870 .
Talked with level 1 they were clueless. Level 2 got into my phone and tried a few things.. they to were clueless. The pushed it to level 3 I am waiting to hear from them.
What would really help the cause is everyone that reads this message to contract Motorola Support.
Tell them you also have this problem. The more that does the quicker we will get a solution.
If you do plan to have all you information available. They will need it.

Its fixed in 4.4.2 isn't it ???
And most, not all, can fix on 4.3 by a factory reset as mentioned above.
4.4.2 here, no longer having this issue

thanks but none of it worked for me. bumped across one solution in android forum it solved it.
in settings had to disable auto restore of app data in backup and restore, then had to do factory restore and install each app again manually. when tried to install backup from titanium face book disappeared.
thanks for the reply bro
