Hi,
I have a Tilt 8900 (w/o camera), with the latest AT&T ROM installed (w/o the customizations).
I successfully performed HARD SPL and verified this by entering bootloader.
I then downloaded the French radio fron the radio thread (this radio was reported to work well in my area) and successfully installed it (or so it seemed late last night).
The ZIP file I donwloaded from XDA included an RUU exe file and an NBH file (I think).
I extracted both files to my hard disk, ran the EXE file (its screens look awfully similar to the HARD SPL screens) and the installation went smoothly and quickly, including the final SR.
My Tilt returned to normal functioning (or so it seemed), ie various apps which I used - worked perfectly, and it also synched w/o any problems to my PC.
But then on the way to work I suddenly found that I had no sounds at all, in any app.
Following advice, I performed an HR from start-settings-clear temp, and this did not help (the Tilt still functioned well, though, and I could execute all apps).
I then performed a regular HR (by holding both soft key buttons and pressing the SR).
The HR went well, including screen alignment, date & time setup, etc. Then the phone showed the AT&T animation and the screen where the radio and ROM versions are shown, and then - WHAM- the screen went black!
I pressed the Power button, and the screen I received is filled with colored dots (as if it shows a 3d picture or something), and I obviously can't do anything further.
I repeated this procedure several times, nothins has changed.
I also took out the battery for about 1/2 an hour, no luck.
I'd appreciate any ideas.
Thank you.
What ROM and Radio are you using WM6 or WM 6.1?
If you have just flashed a 6.1 Radio and are not using a 6.1 ROM (or vice versa) you will have no sound.
Have a look at the Kaiser Radio link in my sig it will tell you the Radio Compatability with the OS.
Try flashing another radio, if you can't boot flash from the Bootloader Screen.
Thanks
Dave
If I read your post correctly, and you installed a new Radio ROM but did NOT install an OS ROM, then that is your problem.
The newer AT&T-based ROMs require a matching Radio in order for the sound and camera (n/a in your case) to work. If you want to keep your new Radio, you will need to change your OS ROM also.

Hi Dave,
I have WM6 with the latest AT&T ROM.
The radio I flashed is compatible with WM6 (it's the French radio), but it might not be compatible with the AT&T ROM.
Meanwhile I discovered that I CAN enter bootloader mode, so hopefully this is a recoverable situation.
I understand that I need to enter bootloader mode on the Tilt, enter AS on my desktop PC, in AS I need to remove the checkmark from connections-allow USB connections, connect the Tilt to the sync cable amd then run the RUU EXE file in order to try and reflash the previous radio. Is this correct?
Last, if this fails as well, would I be able to reflash the updated ROM (after entering bootloader mode)?
Anything else I need to do so that I don't totally brick my Tilt?
Thanks.

The times I've flashed through bootloader (and there have been a few!) I've never bothered disabling Activesync - just connect the phone to the USB and run KaiserRUU.exe. It takes a few extra seconds on the "Verifying Info on your device" screens, and then comes up blank in the "Current ROM" section, but I've never had anything fail to flash yet.
I was not aware of this

So this means that I need to revert to my original configuration (ie the updated AT&T ROM) and keep it that way?
I wanted to improve the radio reception, since inside my house I have virtually no reception. And I read several reports in our local PDA forum that this specific radio does improve things.
Also my GPS lost too many times the GPS signal (all of this did not happen with my HW6910).
Thank you.

I'll write here within a couple of hours, after I get home.

If you want to use the other radio, you need to flash a non-AT&T ROM to your device. This is a very simple process, and there are many different ROMs to choose from.
What is the radio version that you want to use? This way I can suggest several upgrade options that will be compatible with it.
It seems that the french radio might be suitable
But basically, at the moment I prefer to stay with the standard AT&T ROMs, minus the customizations.
I read through the Kaiser radios thread. Several radios are non-optional since they are only for WM6.1. Other radios are older than the one that came with the newest AT&T ROM (can't remember the ROM version).
I do understand that the radio selection process is somewhat a trial and error process, but I'm concerned that I might have some serious problem while trying, and I don't really have that much time to play with this. And as it is, I still don't know that I'm out of the woods with my current problem.
I'm sorry, I totally missed the part about the colored dots showing up on your Tilt after the last HR. Are you still having this issue, or is the phone booting correctly and you just have no sound?
Same Problem
I have the same issue. After the flash I tried, I see colored dots once I tried RUU. After that when I reboot, I just see a blank screen. I see that AS is happening.
Before the flash it wasR 1.27.14.09. Now it is 1.27.12.11
How do I fix the colored dots issue?
everything OK now.....
I reflashed the original radio, as per the instructions here, and now the phone is fully functional again (emails, phone, WIFI, GPS....).
I must admit I was quite worried for several hours, and couldn't wait to return home.
Further, it turns out I've grown quite dependent upon my Tilt...
Last, the signal strength issues haven't gone away, obviously, and I've yet to find the proper radio.
Many thanks to all the helpful people here.
By the way, I'm still curious regarding the reason for the colored dots on the screen.
Until I reflashed the orgiinal radio,

Until I reflashed the orgiinal radio, all I had were the colored dots.
Following the initial french radio flash, and prior to the full HR, I did not have sound, bout the phone was fully functional.
After I performed the full HR (both soft keys + SR) - I received the colored dots screen, which rendered the phone unusable.
I have this same problem and can't get in bootloader mode!!
Any help!!
Hi,
I recently installed the new official HTC Firmware Upgrade on my Touch Pro.
ROM: 5.05.405.1 WWE
ROM Date: 01/22/09
Radio: 1.11.25.01
After installing, i cannot seem to get a GPS fix, have been trying for last 4 hours. I did all the usual, ran the Quick GPS etc. My external TomTom receiver works fine and TomTom then runs ok on the Touch Pro.
GPS set to COM4 as before
Has anyone else had any problems since upgrading to the new firmware?
Thanks
The fix problem might be temporary. Try again tomorrow at different position
Hi Darfri,
Funny enough, i tried this morning and got a fix in about 20 seconds! So could well have been just a temp thing.
I did uninstall GPSED in between, i'm sure that was not the contributing factor, will reinstall it and try the GPS again on the way home.
M
me too
did u mean the htc's website ROM upgrade?
i did it too, and my GPS is not running, i tried it saturday and did not get sucess, i am trying today again and the same problem is ocurring, i would need my GPS working, i use IGO8, the raphael locates the GPS signal, but on the map it doesnt work
does anybody know the soluction?
Yes, i do mean the HTC website ROM.
I tried again on the way back from work after reinstalling GPSED, it is still working. No idea why it refused on the Sunday.
Try obtaining a fix in an open area for a start, once it gets its first fix after the upgrade, subsequent ones should be easier.

where did u get?
I have the same problem. Yesterday I flashed my Touch Pro with a new Radio and a new OS Rom (not the official one). I used the newest Radio Rom version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2822877&postcount=2 (1.11.25.01)
Now I'm trying to get a GPS fix with Google Maps or HTC GPS Tool, but both does not work.
I hope anyone could help.
Thanks!

Same problem here, flashed 5 days ago, intermitent gps signal (like a pulse fix / no fix) or none at all. Even try with different radios (Radio 1.02.25.32 / 1.02.25.28) and the baud rate to 57600 in my apps.
I can't be sure is due to new ROM because I flash it on my newer Fuze and never try GPS fix before. I have to say that I own a Touch pro almost a year ago and at the same time side by side get a fix in cold 10-30 seconds and warm 2-5 seconds (with a cooked ROM from "jespi2005" Radio 1.02.25.32)
Hi,
I think I have a solution.Download the HTC GPS Tool (e.g. from here http://rs276.rapidshare.com/files/84815853/Nadavi_HTC_GPS_TOOL.cab)
-Check if you have AGPS disabled (e.g. with Advanced Config)
-Update QuickGPS
-Install HTC GPS Tool
-Run HTC GPS Tool
-Check the Correct Com Port (Settings - > External GPS)
-Set Baudrate to 57600
-Press open
-Select Cold Start from the Dropdown list
-Mark the Repeat Selectbox
-Press Nav. Init.
-Now It can take 1 or 2 hours
-Check the status via the satelit tab
If nothing works, press Close, reset your PPC, select Clear Memory from the select box, press Nav. Init. and wait about 15 Minutes and reset your PPC again. Repeat the procedure above. You can also try the other options in the drop down box. I don't know the options I used anymore, but now it works.
My problem was, that I was to impatient and thought, that anything must be broken. So try this method and I hope it works.
I found this solution in the german forum www.ppc-welt.info (direct link for all german speaking people: http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=133565)

SPRINT PHONES ONLY
Let me preface by saying I no longer own a TP2. So I cannot say it works 100% for all phones or anything. However the fix was developed in partner with HTC. So take that for whats it's worth. I ran into the HFA issue when I was camping last July and in a weak, low signal area. Had to hard reset when I was back in the "real world" and wait a day for my phone to work right again. I ended up getting an EVO in October and forgot about this.
However on SprintUsers, member MSU94, found this info while searching for a solution. Just thought I had to let ya'll know. Hopefully this will help people with the issue. Says it's not a guaranteed fix, but works for most. Hopefully some of you will benefit from it. The directions say to download the files from their site and it will prompt a soft reset. I don't know if you can just run the cabs, I assume you can. I attached them just in case. There is a 6.1 and 6.5 version, so be sure to use the proper cab.
If I helped, throw a thanks my way. Use these at your own risk of course.

Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 Hands Free Activation Fix
Here are the two HTC FIX products for resolving the Hands Free Activation error on your device. These are ONLY for Touch Pro 2 Devices on the Sprint network, do NOT use on any other devices. Please download the correct file, depending on the Windows Mobil version installed on your device. See instructions for further details. Important Note: The device will automatically soft reset upon finishing installation.
Instruction for Downloading HTC Fix for the Hands Free Activation Issue
For Sprint Touch Pro 2 Devices ONLY
When and Why a device would need the HTC Fix
HCHB would like to make you aware of an issue with the HTC Touch Pro 2 devices on the Sprint network which can cause the device to enter Hands Free Activation (HFA) mode inappropriately. A device that has entered HFA mode will be sluggish and various applications, including PointCare, may not open. These symptoms are not to be confused with common slow performance and or battery length issues.
It appears that this issue occurs most frequently when the device is being used in rural areas or when the device attempts to reconnect to the Sprint network after being out of the coverage area. HCHB has collaborated with Sprint and HTC engineers to develop a patch to stop the HFA from invoking in these instances. The patch appears to be effective in most, but not all, cases. Therefore, we urge you to inform your Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 users to regularly sync and back up their visits, especially if they frequent rural areas.
Where to find the HTC Fix
Please go to HCHB.com/downloads on your device, and download one of the two HTC Fix files.
Additionally, it’s IMPORTANT that you download the correct version of the HTC Fix. Depending on which Windows Mobil version you have (6.1 or 6.5) on your device, will determine whether you should download the 6.1 or 6.5 HTC Fix. On the site you will see two HTC Fix Downloads, please download the file that corresponds with the Windows Mobil version you have.
In order to find out which Windows Mobil version you have on your device, please follow the iteration path below on your phone:
Start–Settings–All Settings–System (could be a tab or file)–About
How to Download the HTC Fix
First you must navigate to the download site on you device, and then double click on the HTC Fix you wish to download. You will be asked by the device to allow the file to download, please allow it. At the end of the download the device will inform you that it must SOFT RESET it order to finish downloading, please say yes, your device will soft reset automatically.
Once the device boots back up, your phone will be finished installing the HTC Fix!
thank u very much. will try
No problem. Hopefully this has resolved the issue, or kept this issue from happening for you guys.
I 've spend lots of time searching (google and all) but could not find a answer:
I (actually my Wife) have a Nokia CK-1W Bluetooth Carkit (no remotes and stuff) In the earlier days (Donut) I managed to pair my Wife's HTC Magic with it at some stage with Cyanogenmod we battled with the same problem but around 5.x it worked and it was remebered over to 6.x (I don't have those roms (4.x,5.x) anymore so I can't see what the config was)
We both upgraded to Sensation but now we cannot pair with it (Nokia Ck-1W)
It seems the Phone want to pair with 0000 but the kit has a different number (last four digits of the serial number). Problem is it never gets asked for and fails.
I prosume the auto_pairing.conf file in the /etc/bluetooth folder should be able to resolve it. I tried putting in Nokia (after BMW,Audi,Parrot) without success.
I have S-OF,root& AdroidRevolutionHD, she does not (yet)
Anyone with some info, link or pointer that could help me out?
A solution that would work on Stock is prefereable, but we have S-OFF ...
Thanks
Tobie
HTC Sensation: S-OFF Android Revolution HD 1.1.6
In the mean while I've tried many different settings in the configuration without success (auto_pairing.conf and audio.conf)
I also found that the phone has a dynamic_auto_pairing.conf which seems to be copied over to the data folder once the ROM is running.
I'll try adding Nokia, Nokia CK-1W and 00:08:C6 modded into the ROM with a super wipe when AR HD 1.1.7 gets to us... ( :-( did not work...)
There also seems to be some database living with the bluetoothd files.. don't know how they work:-(
Any luck so far? I'm having a similar problem with my HD2 (BOYPPC CM7 SD build) and CITROEN C4 Picasso built-in bluetooth handsfree (I believe the make is Siemens). I was going to modify audio_pairing.conf, but if that fails for me, it would be great to know if you found another way around this.
Nothing yet Sorry!
I had the same problem. My HTC Magic (CM6.1) worked fine with the Nokia CK-1W, but when connecting my ZTE Blade (CM7.1) it told me that my passcode was invalid, without ever prompting me for a passcode.
The solution was simpler than I had thought: You just need to reset the CK-1W.
With the power off, press the button on the remote for about 15 secs until the light starts flashing. After about 10 secs the carkit will beep 2 times to signal that it has been reset.
If you have multiple phones, remember that the first phone you register will be the "default" phone (the phone the carkit will connect to automatically).
I have a EVO Shift that is no longer under warranty and I am having issues with the phone screen hanging forcing the software to reload after getting a HTC screen. It is intermittent and I have rooted and tried different ROMS. It appears that there is a loose connection that is causing this.
Does anyone know of any tricks to take apart the phone and check anything or ensure that the connection is correct. It appears to be due to the sliding front panel.
Thanks for your assistance
ajmfrog
Before you dismantle your shift have you tried an AOSP ROM like CM7?
There is an HTC Sense reload issue. Also have you tried the latest OTA software update?
