[Boot Animations] & [Live Wallpapers] Nexus Holiday in a variety of colors - Nexus One Themes and Apps

So I made a cyan version of the Holiday Nexus boot animation and thought I'd share it here.
I uploaded both a bootanimation.zip to adb push to the system/media/ folder, and a update.zip (CyanHolidayBoot.zip) to flash through the recovery menu.
You can use the method you prefer.
Update: I made some other colors too.
The files named 'bootanimation.zip' should be adb pushed, and the 'ColorHolidayBoot.zip' files are flashable in the recovery menu.
Update 2: I've made a version ('ColorSmallBoot_480x256.zip') where the cross isn't scaled up and therefore are more crisp and clear but smaller.
The cross is about the size of the original Nexus One boot animation.
I just made zip-files that you can flash in the recovery menu. If you want the bootanimation.zip to push you can pull it out from the zip-file.
Also I made this all kinda quick and have only tried out the cyan version, so if there's something wrong with the files let me know.
Update 3: A new version that's rapidly flashing between cyan, yellow, green and yellow. Looks kinda sick and psychedelic haha
Update 4: Green Live Wallpaper and Boot Animation with a new look.
Full size picture comparison of the old look and new style and a full size .gif preview of the new style
Update 5: New Style boot animations and live wallpapers for all colors. (No live wallpaper for Flashing Colors version)
The live wallpapers was generated with the Custom Creater script.

thanks Daneshm90
The regular size versions will look a little blurry on the phone because the pictures will be stretched out 4x the size there.
Try the small version or the new style version if you think it's too blurry.

Very nice

This is not a " cyanogen version" available on CM6 this is just a blue version like cyanogen

I didn't say it was the one in CM6 or any other CM version either. It was more meant like it kinda have the "Cyanogen feel" to it. But I changed to cyan version so there will be no misunderstandings.

Which color are you trying? Are you adb pushing the file or flashing in the recovery menu?
Edit: Maybe you have installed a custom boot animation before in the /data/local/ folder? In that case remove that or rename it.

okay, so i got this to work, but the quality is terrible. it's incredibly blurry and just looks really really bad. on CM 5.0.8

It's because there's something wrong with CM 5.0.8, have you tried it on 5.0.7? :b Nah, just kidding, but have you tried the original bootanimation?

It should be just as "blurry" as that one.
It have the same resolution 256x256 that is stretched out to 480x480, so of course it isn't that crisp. It's not that much I can do about it.
I guess they made it that way because it would be too big if the pictures was 480x480.
Personally I don't think it looks "terrible"
I've attached one that is more crisp, but smaller. Now it's in its original size. Try and see, maybe you like that one better.
I've also added small versions of all colors on first page.

Yeah, I know. I think it's the same with the original version tho.
But the pictures are actually even a bit larger in the small version lol, so it could possibly lag even more.
Maybe if lowering the fps it wouldn't lag as much. But the animation itself would be slower then ofc. It's 30 fps now, maybe that's a little too fast for the phone to handle during the boot up.

[Boot Animation] Qteknology's Splash Inverted v2 (Updated 2010-3-3)

This boot animation is basically QTeknology's Splash boot animation, inverted and resized to play full screen on the Nexus One. It is also shortened so that the animation completes before boot process finishes. For Qteknology's original boot animation, please check out this thread:

To install the animation, rename the file to bootanimation.zip and adb push to /data/local
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
The link for the black version says the file is either invalid or its been deleted. I haven't tried the white, because I too have a mostly black theme.
Just tried this and it works fine but it isn't full screen, is this normal?

Which version did you try? The black splash on white background is the original made by Qteknology, and it's for MT3G and other devices with 320x480 resolutions, so it won't be in full screen.
The inverted version which I modified is extended to cover the full Nexus screen.
Can we get an md5 sum to verify we got the right download?
where do I put the file? I saw a couple different bootanimation threads and they both seem to place the file in different folders. So, where does this one go?

It's better to push the zip to /data/local because /system is overwritten when you flash custom ROMs. So for ROMs with frequent updates (eg. CM) it saves the trouble of having to copy over the boot animation after reflashing. the /data directory remains as long as you don't do a wipe.

Bingo
Question, is there any way you can invert, your inversion? I prefer the white background with the black drops, as the color banding with the black is horrible (due to the Nexus, not your work)
Hey I have the white version on my Dream, but I admit I love the look of your black one now. I could go through and invert it myself, but since you've done the work for me... you don't happen to have the files lying around for the original-res, without the parts cut out, do you? You'd be a saint to upload them.

I was also a bit annoyed by the banding, so I did a quick fix to remove (most of) the banding in version 2. See if you prefer this version? Download link in first post.

Also rocking the Black V2. Looks great.

That would be a bit difficult, because the animation leading up to the text at the end is seamless and would be difficult to cut out. The original animation was designed by QTeknology, and he did an amazing job. I'm only doing minor photoshopping on his work. =)
Your fix looks good!!! amazing job.
Kinda gives me a hint on how to make my own boot animation.
Great work to you Qteknology and to you for inverting and making it Nexus one friendly!

[Boot Animation]Xbox 360 Ring Of Lights [UPDATE] RRoD has been Resized

Hello XDA,
So here is my first Android contribution. The animation is the rings of light on the front of an Xbox 360 during boot.
This is my first Boot animation so please don't crucify my if its not perfect.
Also, I am not rooted and thus have not tested it yet. Let me know how/if it works alright. If all goes well I might make a RRoD version .
UPDATE: Thanks for all the feedback guys, I have created a new version with Cyanogen Mod colors and glowing. I will be recreating the original green one soon to mirror this one with the glow. Also make sure you rename it back to "bootanimation.zip"
UPDATE: Speed has been fixed on both. GIF below is actual speed

UPDATE: Standard Green Ring of Lights and Ring of Lights plus RRoD NOW available.
UPDATE: Original and Blue should be working now.
UPDATE: I have added a new size to the animation so that I fits screens better. (Thanks Inneyeseakay for the feedback)
UPDATE: Large version of the RRoD animation has been added. The GIF below is inaccurate in the animation, the green lights are only shown once, then the red lights blink until the phone boots, just like the original version of the RRoD did.
-Cheers
I dont beleive you have to be rooted to use custome boot images. you put it on /data/local/bootanimation.zip and /data is rw already. Cant say 100% for sure though.
Yeah man !!
A 360 gamer , nice
Thank's for this
Its off-center, no?
Mine doesn't appear off-center....NexusOne....
Great work on this man!! Not bad at all, gonna rock it till CM6 is out!!!
Looks great on the EVO, thanks
Pretty cool! Maybe the lights seem a bit on the thin side? Also could the "glow" animation be improved?
Thanks for using my Animation, this took a few minutes in Paint to make, I'll keep working on it and improve it. I also plan on making a Cyan Colored (CM) Version of it too.
This is pretty cool. All I can suggest is what other have already mentioned: try to make it a little thicker and add more glow effect.

Hey man, Still loving the boot animation.... Got a few requests for ya if you got some time....
1.I'd love to see the green one made a lil bigger as other have said....
2.Also could you slow down the "spin" or whatever.... Seems the Nexus spins it so fast I can barely enjoy it!!!
3.I think a normal green w/ a RROD combo would be sweeeeeet!!! What I mean is, have the normal green one cycle thru once....Then fade or just turn red and blink for a cycle (then going back to start of course).... I think that would be hottttttt!!
Thanks again man, this is the kinda boot animation I like and you def hit the spot!!!!

[BOOT ANIMATION] Android robot boot animation

First, and probably foremost, I need to make some acknowledgments:
Credits/Attributions:
The images contained in this file are based off of the work originally done by Yukfoo Animation Studios and their talented team of artists. They had no knowledge of my creation of this file, nor took any part in it's developement or modifications to their images. However after completing the work, I humbly asked for and received permission to credit their wonderful artistic talents.
Portions of this file contain modifications based on work created and shared by Google and used according to terms described in the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution License
So here's my bootanimation I created. I've never really done one before, nor do I have much 'photoshop' experience either, so go easy on me! I truly have mucho respect for those that excel and are efficient with these programs.
I had some strange issues creating a transparent background for the red and blue version, so they have a full screen black background. Also, by not having transparency, I can save in jpeg format which is *MUCH* smaller, and noticeably snappier. (UOT who has this converted it to png)

Well, I wish I were able to. When contacting the creator, I learned that the character was built, rigged, textured, lit and comped by a team of people. I doubt I could create anything nearly as good from scratch. Those that can have my sincere admiration.
At least I got it red, though

Hmm, it runs almost perfect on mine. For a 'normal' boot cycle (after the rom has been loaded, and dalvik all set up), it runs for one complete cycle slower, then on the subsequent cycles it speeds up. It's 112 frames long, which is certainly within a normal range for a boot animation. Just turned my phone off/on and it ran through a good 4 cycles.
Now if I stop the core to push a file into the system partition, it gets chopped when I start core again, but that's different.
Nice one, fits perfect for flavoured ice dark cherry theme on Enoms rom

I like the green, too! Here's the first version I did that's in the original colors, and with a white background. **The white background does not cover the entire screen, there are black bars above and below**
And in a recovery flash file: OG-bootanimation.zip
I've changed the folder placement to /data/local/, as after reviewing AOSP, it looks like it checks there first anyway, so unless your bootanimation command has been altered. I'll update the Red version here shortly as well.

You're right it is easy to do a simple hue change. However, where I ran into difficulties was in the black background. For some reason, I had trouble introducing strange artifacts that only showed on the phone, not in the individual images. Here's a highly compressed/downsized example put into a gif:
But when I put it on the phone, it looks like this:
Had similar problems with the red version. I think it has something to do with how I changed the background, as I never really had too many problems with the original version. But since you got me started on it, I'll try to get it finished

Thanks. The green is my personal fav, too..I think it shows his texture, and 3D like qualities better.
Ideally I'd rather have a transparent background, which I would think would show as black. But having him on a transparency like that would make it easier to do other things later. I just haven't learned my way around the image editing stuff very well...but I'm learning.
I've got a couple other sections of video I *think* I might be able to isolate with some work. Some of this stuff if pretty tedious though (for me anyway). That android guy I put in for an avatar earlier... I had to reconstruct the right 1/3 of his head as it was covered by something else on the screen. And as long as I spent on it, I'm still not near as good as what the original creators did.
i just pushed the green version with white bg, it woulda been fine but then now the top 1/3 and bottom 1/3 of screen is black and the mid part is white

Oops, my bad...I guess I didn't really explain that. Yes, that's the correct display. The area of video that the base work was lifted from was a 16:9 aspect ratio, and our phones are like a 9:15 aspect ratio the other way. As that was my initial piece, I was more concerned with getting the animation smooth sized right. But after seeing it on the phone, I actually kinda like it the way it is.
I'll update the op so that folks are aware ahead of time. Work is planned for the green guy for sure...
and when everything smooth out you should add strobe lights for the robot to dance to or music notes... something in the background.. idk.. lol

[SPLASHES & WALLPAPERS] shift's Customized Wallpapers and Splashes! UPDATED 11/12!
heyo fellow evo warriors!
given the influx of requests i've received for wallpapers and splash screens, i thought i'd extend a hand out for requests to the rest of the evo community. if you'd like to see some of my work, here it is:
evo wallpapers || splash screens || desktop wallpapers
=============================================
instructions to install splash screens:
if you have S-OFF bootloader via unrevoked forever:
rename .zip file to PC36IMG.zip
place in root of sdcard
boot into bootloader
select yes to update and reboot when prompted
rejoice at your brand spanking new, customized splash screen
????
profit
~~ OR ~~
if you want to flash via fastboot (android sdk is a required install):
move the splash screen file ([nameofsplash].rgb565) to your sdk/tools folder
power off device
boot up into boot loader (hold volume down key while pressing power)
navigate to "FASTBOOT" with the volume keys and press the power button
plug device in (you'll see "FASTBOOT USB" highlighted in red)
open a command window in windows (windows key + r then type "cmd.exe")
prompt to sdk/tools
now type this into adb window to install splash screen: fastboot flash splash1 [nameofsplash].rgb565
reboot.
rejoice at your brand spanking new, customized splash screen
????
profit
you can also follow my antics, sneak peeks to future secret projects, and updates to reasons for delays and such via my twitter.

thanks man! oh crap, i forgot about doing your mattedblues wallpapers! *facepalm* ..maybe for any future projects of yours, perhaps?
can you change the blue to red and format the size ?
Would love to try and get the more red/black img as a splash. If not, the other image is a bit larger which might be easier/better for a splash. Take creative license
Would also like a Droid Eye launcher pro icon... I want to think there is one out there but I havent found it.
Also, I really like the splash you made with the hand and the rasta colored smoke coming off it... would love to see that minus your name/logo (maybe you can tastefully hide it in the bottom corner or something lol) and replace it with the Droid Eye...
Ive exclusively used your splashes as they always seem to be really high quality it very clean. Keep up the good work

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9340510/heartrate-red.png
i'm linking the png since it's not compressed like the jpg i uploaded to the xda attachment server.
edit:
i noticed some pixelization on the image you provided. it looks like it's been blown up from a smaller set. if you want a heartrate style image, i can try to look for a higher-res image and modify it to be red. i can do that later tonight, if you'd like.

hmm.. i'll see what i can do, those are some sick images! as for the droid eye lp icon, i do have a pic of the eye. i'll work on them later tonight and post them up for your perusal.
also, thanks so much for the kind words about the splashes!
those were all for snap, but i can make something similar like that using that image for your setup. any specific stuff (words/mottos/tags) you'd like me to throw on there?

Yes that would be great if you can find something . But I love what you did with the other one , Thanks
Not looking for it to say anything in particular. If you want to hide "Voss" in there somewhere im ok with that, but the cleaner and simpler the better for my taste.
No rush on my requests, I am patient.

a quick search didn't yield anything good enough (in my opinion), but i'll check in more depth later tonight. glad to hear you like the other one though

I have a small and meager request - a "Shift_i-fied" Jessica Alba wallpaper please yea! On second thought, it'd be even cooler if the pape had some MattedBlues style baby blue in it too. The best of both worlds <3

Personal customizations? Ummm.... hmmm.... I ..... dunno. Believe it or not, that's a hell of a question. After thinking about it, nah. Well WAIT - maybe if you could make it so like that it looks like she's rockin a set of turntables in her nightie AHAHAHAHAH! My oh my wouldn't that be grand? heheheh
OK back to reality - besides the MB customizations, no. I don't have any. I just like the way you make papes so I'll leave the artistic direction to yourself sir.

[bootanimation] 3D Blue Bumblebee (honeycomb)

I've been running the honeybread theme for apex on my droid x (which is the
best looking theme out there in my opinion) and decided to create this 3D
bootanimation to go along with it. It looks great on my device, very smooth (the
youtube video doesn't do it justice).
I cant post links yet but if you go to the video or just google danmcq spinning droid boot animation You'll find the download linkl

It should work fine, but this evening I'll look into the Xoom's resolution and I will render a version specific to the tablet. I don't have a Xoom personally, so if anyone wants to test it out give me a shout.
Thanks

I'm using this bootanimation, but this seems like a coin spinning and yours is different, I personally like more your style, although the Natemx is very good. Your bootanimation seems more virtual, and i like it.

I had thought about a bootanimation like yours 3D Blue Bumblebee but with the Android logo instead of the honeycomb logo.
The color i think that should be green, but it's your decision.

Small world, after my last post here went googling for more bee bootanimations and found yours, to upload at home...
Yours is smoother running than the one I have, but I like the black background and more resolution pics of "mine" better...
Finally got around to creating the 'green droid' version.

I have an Asus Transformer and not a Xoom, but perhaps this information can be of use. Starting with your 3D Blue Bumblebee animation, I was able to make the few minor tweaks listed below and have it display beautifully on my tablet.
Increased the frame rate from 15 fps to 30 fps
Cropped images from 480 x 854 to 480 x 428 (animation still centered on display)
Optimized PNG images with rOptiPng (roptipng -o7 **/*.png)
Changed all the blacks from #101010 to #000000 to hide the edges of the 480 x 428 images
I don't believe it wasn't entirely necessary to increase the frame rate or crop the images, but optimizing the images and changing the black level yielded improvements.
I think the increased frame rate results in a smoother looking animation on my tablet, but there is still a slightly noticeable speedup after all the images have been cached. I cropped the images to remove the unnecessary black space and then optimized the cropped images to reduce the file size. This too appears to smooth the rendering of the animation.
A version rendered specifically for tablets would be much appreciated. The copy of the Xoom bootanimation.zip I found in this thread is stretching 512 x 256 images to 1408 x 880 and I find the resolution of the stretched animation unappealing.
Very nice!
Thank you.

Unfortunately, I did not create the 3D Blue Bumblebee animation. That credit goes to danmcq (the OP). He mentioned that he used Boris RED to create the animation.
Dan,
I found your bootanimation on DroidLife; not realizing it linked back here to XDA.
I took the PNG's and threw them onto a canvas that is sized for the xoom (1280x800).
The result is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16326484#post16326484
I did it for my xoom and tested on my xoom...hence it is in the xoom forum!
