It says for the evo so I am just curious if you have seen anyone running this on a 32b device...
yea, does this work on the G1?
Did you actually read through the thread? Everyone seems to be reporting the same results as they would with Flash Lite.
Besides, the issue for us isn't 2.1, it's the compilation for ARM v8, if I understand correctly.
Doesn't work, the 2.1 browser doesn't support plugins and devices that run HTC Sense have flash lite built in which makes a lot of people think they have the full version of Flash.
does not work...

I love that site, but you should not be allowed to use it since the search you entered does not contain any results with the answer to that question!
I'd like to know too... what's the difference? Sure, I could Google search better then your attempt and find some sort of clue, but I doubt I would come up with the answer to the real question here...
What can froyo Flash do on our phones that FlashLite cannot? ...or my specific question: Can either play Hulu?
where is flash lite for g1 available? just wonderin hunted a bit no luck

As you know on ROMs with the Sense UI running Flash Lite, and from what I seen on the N1 with full flash support, the flash (lite version) animations or video plays in the web pages-you can't make it into a full screen mode. Flash 10.1 is just fast anyway on all platforms. Just by updating from the older version of Flash (on the PC version) to 10.1, my low-wattage HTPC can now run full-screen videos in high quality smoothly, versus low like before.
It can't be just the hardware limiting the flash lite to be choppy on the G1, since the HTC Hero specs are not significantly faster. But, correct me if I'm wrong, idk.
Does this work for G1 with cyanogen 5.0.8 or not ???
Actually flash lite does have fullscreen mode. It works well but its not amazing. Problems here and there
I don't see the g1 getting full flash anytime soon.

So im assuming the op was wrong and did not know what he was talking about?
i just succesfully installed on mt3g and just did a reboot running 3.6 so we shall see....
does not work at all no ads moving no hulu nothing so no go on mt3g
What site is a good basic test?
What would be a good test for this? I would want to test a scale of functions. Flash game, Flash video, full screen, streaming flash video. Does that seem like a logical progression?

Maybe if you actually bothered to do the search though, you would find there is a posting there for Android Central that explains what the difference is.
full flash 10.1 will not happen for the G1 as it was never compiled for the chipset the G1 uses. As flash isn't open source it would require a full backwards engineering then recompile for the chipset. far more trouble then its worth
will a mod lock this thread? this is clearly bunk

new here,
wasn't too interested in rooting, but i decided to give in and install a custom rom as stock was sluggish and, i was tired of the colors.
I'm pretty happy, i'm now running fresh's 1.0 rom.
now, i'm pretty happy about this phone.. but i've seen videos where people are playing games off flash sites? why the hell can't i do that? i just get a error,
i've been very curious about this, what are your guy's experiences?
I can't do it either. The flash part was one the deciding factors for me over the Hero and the Samsung Moment.
The Hero has flash support...or more of a "flash lite". Some of the older flash games that haven't been updated to use the new features of the current versions of Flash do work for the most part.
Official Flash for android is slated for next year I believe.
Personally, I think we'll see 2.1 come out for our phones before full flash gets released.
I agree completely that is a feature I bought this phone for. It doesn't seem widely talked about.. this sucks.

Hey everyone, well, I'm happy to say that I got flash player *10* on 2.1, and I'm in the process of getting it on 1.5. The 2.1 update should be around the end of the month from what I hear, but take it with a grain of salt . The browser was working on every site I tried. I'm currently getting it to 1.5 and putting in the proper frameworks. I'll update the post with information as I go. For faster support, I made a IRC channel for this:
Server: irc.bikcmp.info (port 6667, or port 6670 for SSL)
Channel #pancake (This will be included in the next version of my ROM, pancake.)
If you don't have a IRC client, use this mibbit link:

Thanks.

Are you going to share Flash Player 10 for 2.1?
Good work!
wow that is great.Cant wait to experience it
Update: testing the files .
ok so hypothetically speaking, with Flash 10 on the hero, that means that if I say wanted to go to www.hot97.com and check out the live stream, which requires the latest version of flash to run, then I could with that? Honestly, being originally from NY, that's the only thing I miss from my old Sprint Mogul days.

any chance that this flash player 10 would work for a 1.5 rom?

Yes I am very new to android. I managed to root mythouch 3g 1.2 to the fender rooted rom. I am just confused completely on the 2.1 roms. What is porting? I did the unlocker method with no problem. I had an epic fail trying to install a 2.1 rom! Mainly cuz I can't figure out what the heck all this porting and partitioning is. Any help would be appreciated so much!!
All that you can read here on these sits.
It must be the 32b that has messed me up. For some reason I thought the 3.5mm jack was on the 32a. That would be a good reason for that rom not working. Man I'm getting bad at this kinda stuff.

NOOOO.. the 1.2/fender are ALL 32a boards. There are NO 2.1 roms for our phones yet because the drivers/kernel source have not been released. So for now, just use some of our themed roms. They work great and look great.
Again, NO 2.1 roms will work.
I had one pull up but touch screen was not working. I'm begging to think they just threw this phone together. I see some say there r roms but they have no bt and youtube. Or am I just that lost? I can live without bt and video.

HTC has not released the source for the new touch screen drivers or 3.5 jack. So, if you would have read ont he instructions you used to root the phone, there are no special roms for our phones yet. Thrown together? It has a brand new touch screen and a new headphone jack that was not in the older version = no way to use them yet.
So, in these instructions you rushed through, you would have read that the only roms we have are the fender rom and the themed roms.
We have one 2.1 rom working from STokes. But you have to search it down in these forums under the Mytouch 1.2/fender threads.
Not trying to be an ass here, but its obvious you did not read fully before rooting your phone.
Thanks for the help! I was misunderstanding my phone config. I thought I had the 32a. That's why I was lost! Sorry! Although I did read it....and flashed it too! That's why my phone went stupid on me! Boy did I miss a big one there! Well I do appreciate the help all the same! That cleared all my confusion up.

.. what are you asking? You showed us what board your phone is using, sooooo what? I need better english to understand you. I have no idea what "how is that correct and work" means. I hope you're not giving us your phones information so we can hold your hand and take you through step by step.
I also don't understand how you can't find information about all this porting and partitioning. I'm a normal member like you, how was I able to find all this information on these forums and google but you can't?
Can you do me a favour and start researching yourself rather than asking a bunch of questions that are already answered. You've already posted in the wrong section, and you obviously haven't tried hard enough. You didn't know if you had a 32A or 32B at first, which is the most basic thing of all. This is why people like you brick their phones. You totally just guessed which board you have.
Then you complain about the touch screen issues when it's all explained in the process of how to root it, wow. Get ready for flames if you continue to fail like this. Please read things more thoroughly and post in the right section.
What I guess I am trying to ask is the G or H relevent in any way? I understand the boards. I have been told It was a 32b then when I rooted it I rooted the wrong file. Which would have bricked it. That is why I am asking all the questions. It works fine with the fender root. It just doesn't seem to work loading any 2.1 rom at all. And yes I have tried 32a and 32b. The 32b 2.1 loads without the touch screen working. 32a 2.1 doesn't do a thing, just freezes. Does that help explain it a little better for you?

You got a 32b 2.1 rom to boot??? which one please. If you can get it to boot, we can then flash the kernel over, reboot, and get things working.
I wasnt flaming you, I was mearly pointing out the fact that every single thing you asked, you would have had to have known before rooting the phone.
Yours says G... which makes no sense considering its a 32a HTC branded phone (maybe the 1.2's are different? because the fender is an HTC branded board.
We here, just get tired of people that say they have searched... yet its blatently obvious it doesnt.
Now that stokes has given you the 2.1 rom..... Now we have to hear you ask 15 times now why the Bluetooth and Wifi wont work.....
Stokes 2.1 loaded for me and it is 32b. Just the touch screen didn't work. I would say if it wasn't for my phone it shouldn't have had the droid saying touch to start. None of the others did that at all. Here is where I got it from.

Oh now.. we have a fuly working stokes port working minus BT with touch screen. I was gona post it fo ryou but max file limit here is to small. Tomorrow when im not drunk Ill search a link down or get stokes to give me direct link. Im running it right now andf other then BT and youtube not working, it is so purdy with the live wallpapers. with the extra 32a ram, it runs just as well as the nexus one. If you have talked to stokes, ask him for his 1.41 Fender/LE port. Full wipe, Skip google sign in and sign in through market for sync. After that you will be very happy .

I kinda think now. that this device was over developed for an under developed os platform. think about it, this device has preemo hardware right yet googles apps are half a$$ working and some arent working at all. i think mabe google needs to step up their app development skills a lil then mabe all these new devices will play nice. its been said that apples apps are better quality... i hate apple lol im currently running a moto droid 1 over clocked to 1.2 on pete's bugless beast 2.2 froyo rom and let me add my phone works ten times faster then the galaxy tab this gtablet and the ipad?? how??? i havent a friggin clue. it dont make sense. android is awsome bottom line this device has potential will that potential be wasted?? i hope not for. what do u guys think.
This belongs in General unfortunately.
The true answer to why Google will not support this is that Honeycomb is their OS for tablets. The hardware manufacturers could not wait to release this hardware (to try to get an edge on the competition).
Currently, Google will not support and will not allow Android Market to go onto a device that does not fit certain criteria.
One of these is that the device MUST have a cellular radio.
Since most of these tablets do not, Google cannot and will not allow Android Market on it at this time.
Hope this answers your question.

Google doesn't support wifi only devices yet. I think with android 2.3 we will see a change with that, and that is when we will get this device to shine. It will take time for the hackers to work everything out. It took weeks/months for pete to get his rom to where it is today, and as great as he is, he had a lot of help from the huge DROID community. The community for this gtab is small but growing, and will get better with time. What isn't working fo you? Okay, maybe someone will know the answer to this.
Every single ICS rom I've tried... and I'm pretty sure that's all of them... has had abysmal performance playing flash video through a browser. I'm talking from
jt's original ICS... to
Entropy's ICS...to
uniporn
jblparisi's
remixICS
etc. etc.
Now, just to be clear... all of those ROMs that I mentioned I thoroughly enjoy... they had/have a lot of work put into them, and I thank the devs.
But this puzzles me... I had perfect flash video playback on a number of GB roms... notably AEON... now we move to ICS... and it's incapable of doing the same thing?
Also, whatever the problem is, it is some kind of common thread that runs through every ICS release for the infuse. I've tested. There is no example of this problem not being present.
Anyone have information, or a solution, or have noticed this problem themselves?
Thanks
I do agree with your statement.
I think this is due to the Wi-Fi and data speeds. Unlike GB ROMs, build.prop has not yet been extensively looked at in ICS ROMs. Network speed drops can be expected going from GB to ICS.
Again, this is just my opinion. Do not take my word for it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
You have a good point there, build.prop was not something that had occurred to me.
The only thing that makes me suspicious of that particular theory is...surely all the ICS roms can't have the same build.prop settings, right? So if it was coming from there, I guess I'd be expecting to see some roms performing better or worse than others... and yet when it comes to flash video, they are pretty consistently bad, with little variation.
Thanks for the idea though, I hope that you're right and that this is just something that can be fixed by build.prop rewrites.
You do have adobe flash player installed right? Unlike gingerbread roms I don't know of an ics Rom that comes with flash player installed...when I had the infuse as soon as I installed flash player I never had a problem with flash videos...also I never had a problem with slower network speeds...

Hehehe yeah I'm not that much of a fool =P
I tested everything I'm talking about with flash player installed. ICS can't deal with the video, it sticks and sputters like a broken faucet... super choppy, stops and starts... etc.
I can't testify 100% but I'm pretty sure that my data speeds on ICS are reduced as compared to GB roms.
With Wi-Fi, however, I think the speeds are comparable.
If this was happening on a PC, I could fix it. My first thought would be video driver issues, so I would remove all traces and then install the newest version.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple on Android...
I've read tons of discussions with Entropy and others talking about the video libs, and I remember that while the idea of "perfect smooth video" sounds like something that should be easy/simple to accomplish... it's actually a pretty deep rabbit hole. It seemed to me it's a fairly complex problem that draws on a lot of areas and takes a lot of work to get right.
I just wonder what this could be... what did GB have that ICS doesn't?
thanks for the reply, mg =)

Well...ics is aosp/aokp...so it is highly likely it could be missing some video libs and what not...off the top of ky head I know for a fact that gb has TWframeworks as well as many different libs...I have no infuse to test the choppy video so when I say i never expiernced it that is just based off my memory...basically what in getting at is that your theory is possible

Thanks! yeah, I'm no android expert, I'm just going by what makes sense to me.
Assuming just for a second that video libs were in fact the issue...I have a couple questions.
Is there anyone who would know how to identify the specific source of the problem?
Is there any more information I could somehow get/provide that might help?
Or is this just the kind of issue where... ICS is pretty new still, and in time it will probably be fixed? (wait & see)

Well logcats always help...those say exactly what your phone is doing and provide all errors your phone is receiving...from what I've seen, pony (the guy providing logcats for the miui build) is good with logcats...but he's busy with miui. I'm not even sure if you would find anything useful in the logcat anyway since it is somewhat working...I'm sure it will be fixed in time though
So if you know how to logcat then get one and see what it says...if not than just wait, I'm sure someone will end up working on a fix
