Hello.
Today I was messing around with ROM Manager v2.0.1.6, went into "Download ROM", then "Extras", and saw two different ROMs available for download.
One being, "Superuser 2.2.2 cd Cupcake/Donut" and the other being "Superuser 2.2.2 ef Eclair/Froyo"
Anyone know what this is about?
I have a Samsung Captivate that has been rooted.

I forgot to mention I just updated it on my Nexus One and it looks great it is very cleaned up. I haven't gotten to my Captivate yet, but then again just got off work and still running the daily xda ritual of skimming through XDA threads and updating/downloading/flashing mods. I will let you know how it looks on the Captivate, but I am sure it is exactly the same as the Nexus One and it looks great def a good upgrade, but then again ChainsDD always does a great job on Superuser.
....and one more thing my friend you really should think about asking questions like these in the "Captivate General" so this section doesn't get bogged down as it is really hard for people to have to go through hundreds of threads. You might want to check out the Forum and Market Place Rules admin mikechannon did an awesome job of creating a thread that explains things a little better. Give it a read and please don't take my reply the wrong way just looking after my fellow XDAers. mikechannon has currently taken on the job as admin and this place has been out of control so let others know as well cause he really is doing an awesome job! That's odd, all other devices to my knowedge have a Q/A section for questions...But the captivate only has a General...
So yes, gk527, post Questions in the general section, it really does help

I actually did the exact thing when I got my Nexus One a few months back. It happens to all of us I hope you didn't take my advice the wrong way. There are a lot of people that are really rude and won't put up with it so I thought I would let you know. Like the other guy said welcome to the community.

No offense taken. I have no problem when someone tells me I did something wrong. It's when they're being an a$$ about it is when it pisses me off.

Why cant you just help? a lot of new posts you are the second poster with a smart ass remark. If your not the second poster by chance, you reply the same useless garbage that the 5 previous mod wannabess just posted. every single mis posted thread, every freakin one of them. this is hilarious.. Every thread i read that is questionable about location, you have to chime in and tell it. Do you think the mods need or even want your help? Do you not think they got the message already? Did the mods ask you to troll the forums and tell people to use the search button? That clogs the forums up more than the actual post you are complaining about. If you let the op know tactfully that his/her thread was in the wrong place that's one thing. But the way you do it, (not referring to this thread, most of your others though) after it's been done multiple times already is not needed and is actually pretty rude. Why may i ask do you do it? You can see the comments you make have just been made 5 times previously (not this thread, majority of your other posts). Just leave everyone alone until you become a mod then worry about it. Wouldn't they still need to be in the development forum..since most are a works in progress ? I could see having a sticky with links and screen shots of them but they would have to be locked down otherwise they would get cluttered up with all of the questions being asked about them..

im trying to gather resources to make a website devoted to presenting ROM's in a easy to use way. check it out. thanks
so ive been pondering on this all day and this is my conclusion:
how about the development section actually being a developement section, and all "what modem should i use?" or "will this work the the i900 kernal?" or the "when is the updated version coming out?" could go in the q&a section where they belong, what we need are more mods that are a little more active in moving threads and deleting unnecessary posts out of the development section, can you imaging how much more smooth our devs could work if they didnt have to sort through 20 posts to find one that might help them with the actually development.
oh and one more thing, that captivate bible thing, that was an excellent idea, would have done a lot of great things and helped many people, but no one goes through and updates it, what a waste :/
I found this a while back. I found out quite a-bit about our phones from it...Seems to me since this is already up and running..maybe the owner wouldn't mind adding a section for custom Roms and maybe the themes as well ? Wouldn't hurt to ask them anyway..I did just a few minutes ago

The easiest way is to look for the threads Labled {Rom}? This has been brought up over and over again. It tried a few times but never went anywhere as most at to busy to keep the roms on more then one website. As for the questions being asked they belong in the thread for the rom they use and not in Q&A.
I think he was talking about all the other questions in the development section. What Im talking about is something like just roms in a section, if u want to ask questions or talk about rom fine but be only under that rom thread, U would have a Section Clean of all kinds of post and other development stuff, Have a certain format for titles in the rom section, where it would be uniform. I know there still under development but it would be clean, and easy to find.
I like this idea. It should be formatted sort of like DG's thread. All questions goes on that thread for development and on the first page the links would point to the ROM section where people can download the roms they need look at screen shots.

I wonder if it would be more effective to lock each of the threads immediately, or just leave one and hope that those guys that would normally post those threads would read it first and relent

I completely agree with this. while it may seem annoying for some members especially the newer ones there are a couple of dozen "omg I talked to att/samsung and now have the inside scoop" as well as the ever annoying which rom is better post. These threads get to be bother some fast

I think this topic would have been addressed if it was PM'd to the mods, instead of making just another thread to clutter up the board.
Depending on the mod, they actually do let you know why the thread has been closed. I know Zelendel does that for a fact.
Hey guys I just thought I would stop in an say my part. If I close a thread and do not post in it then I am sorry if I thought that the reason is plain, I close threads if the question is answered in the thread and is no longer needed, If it has been talked about over and over. Lets leave the dead horse alone ok Example is one of my favs "where is gingerbread", "Best Rom", " I refuse to search for what I am looking for". These threads will be closed on sight.
We all know the rules and one of them is search before opening a new thread.

Ok I will clean up the threads over the next few days. Any threads that are not needed will be deleted and if anyone posted in those threads then your post count will be altered as the posts are deleted.

Can you set some ground rules for acceptable threads? I know we have read before posting, but maybe if it was laid out what was acceptable and what was not, then we would have something to point at and say you made a boo boo.
Maybe make an announcement and ask for ideas from the community as to what the rules for our forum should be. You being senior mod still have final say, but at least we have input. Just my thoughts.

OK... sure... I totally missed the sticky.
