this is a strange issue i have been having and hard resetting the phone didn't seem to help as it just came back again in a few days. i use my phone primarily as a mp3 player and normally it is supposed to mute the media player when you make or recieve a phone call. recently all incomming calls will mute the audio but when you hang up the audio will not return i have tried restarting wmp i have tried using sk tools to reload the speaker phone and audio drivers. i have asked around forums for a solution and all anyone tells me is to soft reset the phone but when you recieve alot of calls it is really annoying to do this several times a day especially when your in a car and have to pull over to get your music back. i checked some of the event logs and one of the things that struck me as odd was 2 events listed every time i recieve a call. audio mode change and another listed as audio lock. not sure if this is relevant but there is no audio unlock event afterwards. can someone look into this and tell me if there is some registry hack or manuall command to unlock the audio after i hang up the phone.
the phone is a at&t branded fuze with stock rom
ok maby my problem is a bit misleading the cpu event for the audio lock may be completely urelated to the actual problem but i thought it was worth mentioning due to the name of the event it;sself

Hi,
Last night I started having a problem with the sound :
- while calling I didn't hear any ring tone; but destination phone was ringing
- if other end picked up, neither could hear the other's voice.
- if other party's calling me, my phone rings (?!); when I pick-up, again, neither can hear a thing.
- in the 'sounds' menu, while clicking the play 'icon' no sound.
(volumes are configured to max)
When I tried to soft reset the device hanged on the splash screen, leaving me with no other alternative than hard-resetting :-(
Even after hard-reset, the problem persists.
I'd appreciate any help/advise
Regards & thanks for this forum.
Al
try connecting the headset some people have problems with
the connector getting stuck and it believing that the headset is connected all the time
I've had the same problem...
A phone call ( with a normal line ) to T-Mobile was enough.
They picked up my MDA and swapt it.
Tried phone calls to several providers .... no result.
When I upgraded the firmware, it worked for a couple of days, but the minute I touched the volume/screenlet, it the sound got blocked again ... even hardware reset didn't solve ...
I'm having a very strange audio problem with my Qtek 8310. I had a phone conversation a few hours ago which went fine. However, someone rang me up an hour ago, the ringtone went on as usual, but I couldn't hear anything from the speakers. I received a text message after that where the notification tone played as usual aswell. I then tried playing some audio/video files which had no sound either.
The people on the other end can't hear me either
Strangely enough, if I go under Settings:Sounds I can hear everything.
When I reboot the phone, there's a sweekish sound when the bootscreen comes up.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Im using "Windows Mobile 6 for Tornado Perfect English Edition V6", by the way
Thanks in advance
Hey, I have had this happen several times to me. Did you end up finding a solution?
I'm not sure if this is a WM6 specific issue, as I've switched from using the Qtek 8310 over to the HTC TyTN II, which, strangely enough, has the same problems at times. The only temporarily solution is to restart the phone and ring up the person who called you in the first place
Hey, I fixed my issue today.
The symptoms I had that I couldnt hear or speak to people when they rang, nor did system sounds work like dialing tones etc. I could only talk through a headset. But sound came out of the main speaker if i went into the control panel then to sounds and played the ringtones.
What I found is there is a little switch inside the plug for the headset, it must have become jammed. To fix it I straightened a paper clip and swirled it round the inside of the plughole (all sorts of furry things fell out!), then it started working. It has been good as gold so far. Give it a go and let me know if it works for you or not.
After many months of normal usage on the HTC Inspire with an AT&T sim card, this problem has occurred:
When using the regular phone app, while either placing or receiving a call, the other party hears me fine, but no sound comes out of the regular speaker at the top area on the phone. However, normal 2-way audio works fine if I plug in a headset. Also, sound is heard from the speaker after I change to speakerphone mode, but this is not the way that I wish to normally use the phone. Changing any and all of the volume settings makes no difference, including "In call" volume. Strangely, I can still hear the phone ring for incoming calls, but I cannot hear the ringing on the line after I dial a proper number. A few more details:
-Restarts, long off-periods, battery removals, recovery screen restarts, all haven't fixed the problem
-Doing factory reset doesn't fix, including reinstalling Gingerbread update
-Speaker sound is normal for all other apps (any media app, audio notifications, etc.)
-However, if I install any data telephone-type apps, such as SipDroid (for a Sip number) or Groove IP (for Google Voice number), these apps encounter the exact same speaker problem as the stock phone app.
-If this relates to a hardware problem, it's odd that it worked normally for many months, and the phone didn't encounter a fall or water damage, not to mention that the speaker seems to physically work properly for all other apps except phone apps.
Any clues to solve this problem are appreciated.

You do know that it uses a different speaker when on speaker phone and for other apps right? It sounds like the speaker used for phone calls maybe loose or dead.
So if that's the case, I guess getting it fixed is not really a viable option. Seems like such a repair would cost more than a phone replacement. Would you agree?

Well that depends. You could most likely do it yourself for pretty cheap. That is what I would do as it is not really that hard with the time and research. I would call around to repair places and see what they will charge you.
Well you can look into the inspire tinny audio fix but its for cm roms. But there is a modify version of it for sense roms. I had some what of the same issue..

I probably had tried the Tinny Audio Fix before, but to be sure, I loaded it again within CM7. Still not fixed.
I've had to accept the fact that the front speaker is broken and needs to be repaired or replaced, so that's what I'll do. I guess that all hardware breaks eventually. Thanks!

Sounds like the phone may be stuck in headphone mode. Try plugging in headphones and pulling them out a few times and see if that corrects it. My cousin had that issue on a different phone. Lots of dirt and pocket fuzz gumming up the headphone jack.

Hi all,
As the title suggests, everytime when I am making a call on blueooth (car), the ring\dial tone will stay silent for the rest of the process until the call is connected. I have also looked into the settings menu under sounds but with no help, tried deleting and repairing the devices and no luck. Is anybody else experiencing this problem and better yet, found a solution for this?
My friend is also experiencing same issue and we are using Ford car Bluetooth connection.
Also happens on my Nexus 4 newly upgraded to lollopop.
Fine for incoming calls but silent for outgoing. Switching to speakerphone on the device then back to bluetooth seems to manually make it route the call through the bluetooth handsfree but is obviously very unsafe.
Suprised more people havent mentioned this issue!
Managed to find a fix? 5.0.1 doesnt sort it sadly.
Finally I see someone acknowledging the issue.
Nope, could not find any fix and surprisingly no one is mentioning this issue anywhere. Experts in this forum should help us with some solution.
Got the workaround

You can put the source of the audio system to Bluetooth audio and you should be able to hear the dialtone. Afcoure your call end buttons on audio system will not work while on dialtone. After the phone is picked-up the buttons start working
Hello!
I have a major issue during videocalls using google duo, skype where if there are any background noise around me, i can't hear the person i am talking to. The audio cuts off. It has to be silent around me in order for me to hear the person i am talking to. Is there any fix to this problem? I have already reset the phone but the problem is still there.
mic (over) sensitivity? perhaps some will stop by and know the file and file entry to edit.
any of this type setting elsewhere (Settings, the app itself, and sound modification yo have installed, eg Viper, etc... that you can check/get to?
I have no sound modification installed. I checked the settings but there seems to be no part adressing this issue. The same problem happens when i use different apps like skype, google duo and signal. Could it be a hardware problem? The microphone works fine when i record a video or recording audio.
Maybe.
Rooted? If so, and you've done a full, clean install, and sure that the install is working ok, maybe try another custom ROM.
Normal calls work, as I get you it's (just) video calls? Another possibility, I'd consider looking up mic sensitivity and ways to decrease it. On the OnePlus One I am aware there was a configuration file folks could mess with to try and resolve that phone's mics over sampling. That was a common issue for many.
Have you tried turning the volume down and see if that has any effect?
Wish I could offer more ideas, I have used video calls maybe 3 times in 8 years.
The phone is not rooted. This problem occurs only when i use internet based videocalls (skype, google duo). The volyme is not usually high when i call. Thank you for your time, hopefully i will find a solution soon.
Frustrating. Good luck.
