I'm having a very strange audio problem with my Qtek 8310. I had a phone conversation a few hours ago which went fine. However, someone rang me up an hour ago, the ringtone went on as usual, but I couldn't hear anything from the speakers. I received a text message after that where the notification tone played as usual aswell. I then tried playing some audio/video files which had no sound either.
The people on the other end can't hear me either
Strangely enough, if I go under Settings:Sounds I can hear everything.
When I reboot the phone, there's a sweekish sound when the bootscreen comes up.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Im using "Windows Mobile 6 for Tornado Perfect English Edition V6", by the way
Thanks in advance
Hey, I have had this happen several times to me. Did you end up finding a solution?
I'm not sure if this is a WM6 specific issue, as I've switched from using the Qtek 8310 over to the HTC TyTN II, which, strangely enough, has the same problems at times. The only temporarily solution is to restart the phone and ring up the person who called you in the first place
Hey, I fixed my issue today.
The symptoms I had that I couldnt hear or speak to people when they rang, nor did system sounds work like dialing tones etc. I could only talk through a headset. But sound came out of the main speaker if i went into the control panel then to sounds and played the ringtones.
What I found is there is a little switch inside the plug for the headset, it must have become jammed. To fix it I straightened a paper clip and swirled it round the inside of the plughole (all sorts of furry things fell out!), then it started working. It has been good as gold so far. Give it a go and let me know if it works for you or not.

Hi,
Last night I started having a problem with the sound :
- while calling I didn't hear any ring tone; but destination phone was ringing
- if other end picked up, neither could hear the other's voice.
- if other party's calling me, my phone rings (?!); when I pick-up, again, neither can hear a thing.
- in the 'sounds' menu, while clicking the play 'icon' no sound.
(volumes are configured to max)
When I tried to soft reset the device hanged on the splash screen, leaving me with no other alternative than hard-resetting :-(
Even after hard-reset, the problem persists.
I'd appreciate any help/advise
Regards & thanks for this forum.

try connecting the headset some people have problems with
the connector getting stuck and it believing that the headset is connected all the time
I've had the same problem...
A phone call ( with a normal line ) to T-Mobile was enough.
They picked up my MDA and swapt it.
Tried phone calls to several providers .... no result.
When I upgraded the firmware, it worked for a couple of days, but the minute I touched the volume/screenlet, it the sound got blocked again ... even hardware reset didn't solve ...
I am running asergs' aku3.3.12 for some time and I was very happy. Yesterday something very strange must have happened. I can make calls normally and I hear everything very good, but I don't have any other sound any more, meaning I don't hear my phone incoming ring, I don't have sound with windows media or any other app. When I go to sound and notifications (settungs), all sounds are still there, but I can't hear them.
I can hear sounds with the earphones, not loud, but I can hear them!
Does anyone know this problem or have a solution? Thx in advance.
I think it's the hardware problem, you can hear the sound when connect with earphone, right?
I met this problem before and it's because the connector in prophet still think the earphone is connected although it's not actually.
I don't if I understand your problem exactly but this is my understanding, and try to send it back to prophet service department to repair it.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Just after installing version 12, I got this issue. I couldn't believe it was a hardware problem but, If I press at the back of the phone it starts working so now, without any doubt, I'm taking the qtek back to the shop where I bought it and see what they can do. I'll try to avoid the manual fix (replacing the speaker).
Regards,
Encinas.
First everybody complained that the voice clip from the MSN was way too low. Even in the highest PC's volume they couldn't understand me, everybody told me, and I was almost screaming in the mic.
Now I noticed that the video recording has the same problem: The volume is just too low.
Well, It was not like that a weeks ago and the voice notes seems OK, as I checked. I belive that it could be a software issue, after I installed an app, I guess.
Looked for and changed some "audiogain" registry entries but I fail.
So... help!
Try to post here, so someone can figure this out, maybe.
Oh... It is a WM6 HTC Excalibur.
i've had the Touch Pro for a little over a week and i absolutely LOVE IT.
the only problem i have is that every now and then, all sound output dies in the device
the phone wont ring anymore, it would only vibrate.. and if you try to raise or lower the volume, no sound comes out at all either.
the only way out is to reset the phone which i'm doing now on a daily basis hoping to avoid missing calls and messages when the phone only vibrates while it's away from me.
anyone have the same problem and/or a solution?

Hello AntiProxy,
Unfortunately, welcome to the club...
You are the 3rd person I've counted that has that problem. A post is already active on it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422322
What is weird is that you don't have the same ROM as Zillator and I (we have the same ROM).
I'm really starting to think it is an hardware problem then and that we'll have to send the phones back...
Please check the other post.
Hello Flippy.
yeah i noticed your thread earlier but thought our general symptoms are different.
in my case and when the problem happens, the phone no longer rings, no more message notifications, etc.
and it doesn't happen while the phone is ringing.. it just seems to die off randomly.
like the other day a friend came over and asked if i got his message.. i checked and found 3 messages.. no missed calls.
figured the sound was low, so i hit volume up and increased it to the max, but still no sound was coming out..
i asked him to call.. the phone vibrated, no ringtone.. i answered.. he could hear me, but i couldn't hear him.
now the only good news i might be able to give you, is that i've had this same issue back in the day with my blueangel (i-mate pda2k) and it got solved with a new radio rom.
don't ask me what's this got to do with the radio.. it worked back then.
Same here m8!
When my phone does like that I usually realize when calling. But when it does happen all my sounds are ded as well (volume up/down you don't hear sound, it vibrates without ringing and all other sounds are dead).
We have exactly the same symptoms!
i have this prob too. is worse when i use my bluetooth headset. the, it crashes while in the middle of a call.... how do we get this fixed? called HTC service centre and they suggested i upgrade ROM. read in other places that htc changed the mainboard...
any ideas??
PS, i have the exact same rom, radio and proto as @antiproxy
I use the HTC adapter with my ATT Fuze to listen to music in my car. When I unplug the adapter to get out of the car, my speakerphone no longer works. If I get a call, it will vibrate but not ring. If I adjust the volume, I don't hear the indication beeps. However, if I make or receive a call, I can hear them through the regular speaker, and they can hear me.
I've tried adjusting the volume everywhere possible, adjusting the audio profile, changing the ringtone, etc, but the only way to fix it is to soft reset. Needless to say, it is very inconvenient to have to reset my phone each time I get out of my car.
I did search the forums but couldn't find any solution. Unlike these people:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526930&highlight=sound+headphones+aux
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508225&highlight=sound+headphones+aux
my phone does not show the headphone icon indicating that it still thinks the headphones are plugged in. It also will not allow me to use the TouchFlo Audio Booster, further evidencing the fact that it knows the headphones aren't plugged in.
I had to replace my phone for a different reason, so I have verified this problem on two separate physical units. On both I tried cleaning out the USB jack and wiggling the connection around as suggested elsewhere on the forum, but neither solved the problem. In the process of getting my old phone ready to send back to ATT I restored my stock SPL and ROM and verified that the problem still existed. Other than the stock stuff, I have experienced this issue on EnergyROM 2.0 41609 and 41709, EnergyROM 3.0 'Magic' 20090709, and EnergyROM 3.0 'Mercury' 20090722.
As suggested here:

I thought my Bluetooth stack may be causing the issue, so I flashed a new radio as well. I was originally using 1.14.25.35, and am now on 1.14.25.05, which NRGZ28 says is the best for his Mercury ROM. Still didn't fix it. I'm at a loss for what to do, and wonder if anybody else has come across a solution, or has any idea what the problem could be.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

im having same problem dude. Have you tried going to your audio recorder and recording yourself and then making a call. That helped get mine back the way its suppossed to be.
That worked. Very interesting... Does anybody have any idea why this might be the case? Is there a registry value somewhere that needs to be reset after I use the adapter?
NRG has a couple of little apps he includes with his ROMs, namely "Finger Menus OFF/ON" and "Notification Manager OFF/ON" that I assume just wrap up a registry value switch. Would it be possible to code the registry values I need into an app like this, so I can click a button and have my sound working again after I use the adapter? Any senior members willing to do this for me or guide me through the process?
And thanks for the tip Mr. Ewok.

The voice recorder trick doesn't work for me anymore for some reason. Anybody else have any suggestions?

hey,
I had exactly the same problem with my Fuze. I've never flashed anything but the stock rom. I sent it to PPC techs because I had them repair another problem. They told me it didn't have anything to do with the speaker or cables, but they "heated up the board" and it started working. I'm wondering if there's a manufacturing flaw (like a cold solder) involved.
BTW PPC techs didn't charge me anything but shipping to repair it (as it was under their warranty, even though it wasn't their fault). Nice guys!
