Hello out there...
can anyone help me to find a way to synchronize (a) specific folder(s) via active sync. Maybe by changing some registry keys? I tried changin the "Briefcase Path" in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\*******\Services\Synchronization]. But it's value always gets written back to the initial value automatically...
Thanks a lot for any suggestions....
Wow..that's depressing...nobody any hints to help?
Or am i at the wrong spot with my posting?

hi
in connection with making our own reg hacks..i was wondering if any one knows where does the info goes after entering serial numbers for any app..i tried looking in my reg but didnt find any changes....
thanks
depend on the program some may put the info in an ini file some may add to a bin file could be any number of things
Some progs don't put it anywhere. They just remember the fact that you correctly entered it.
When I first turn my Wizard (8125) on it tries to run a file that doesnt lexist. Where is the "initiate" file located and how can I modify it?
Thanks'

looking at "\windows\startup" folder will solve the problem if I understood right

I thought so, too, but nothing about the missing .exe file is listed/mentioned in the windows\startup directory. :?
Did you check the contents of the links? Maybe one of them leads to the missing exe.
If not, get a registry editor (like PHM) and check the content of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Inint key.
BUT BE CAREFUL!
Deleting the wrong value from this key will lead to hard reset!
Get hold of a copy of MemMaid. http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14279
It will work under evaluation for 30 days.
When you have it installed, look at the "Notification Queue" - in here are the tasks that are started when a particular event occurs - such as waking up from suspend mode.
Thanks for the info, guys! I wound up hard-reseting it, anyway - I had played with a lot of different software and had a lot of "remnants" on it, but knowing where to look in the register and learning about memaid will be useful later.
Thanks again...

Iv'e started this thread after several PMs regarding this topic
Please feel free to post your tips on how to customize/personalize your roms before flashing.
Heres one to start from my inbox before i deleted it

I have done a similar thing, by putting the "owner" info into the rom and changing the registry to remove the "owner info" control pannel applet then when they hard reset they get my welcome note same as you and also they can't disable/change owner details

Do you think that you could explain to a n00b like me how you can edit the rom or whatever so that the owner details cannot be changed?
Thanks
Get a registry editor like resco regedit or something like, goto
HKLM\controlpanel\Owner
and add a new string value called
"Redirect" and leave the value blank
now delete the dword "group"
save and reset device
If you are cooking you have to search the registry for the dword "group=0" and change to String "redirect="
Now that I've been around for a little while I will try this now, but If I ever wanted to change the details (say i was to sell it or whatever, which I REALLY don't want to do) what do you do?
The best way is to reflash a standard Rom without your personal details in. if you only want to modify it reverse the registry settings with a reg editor note this must be done after a hard reset every time. best to reflash your custom rom again modifying the settings first.
Hi all,
I previously had a Hermes where there was a little tool to change the soft-keys at the coners of the screen to to applications of your choice.
Either I did not look to find the tool in the Raphael or it does not exist in the HTC standard ROM. Is there any tool to use for changein the soft-keys?
Thanks for support.

Thanks, it works as expected until TouchFlo ist started . When TouchFlo is running, the keys automatically swich to left: Telephone, right: programms. I dont find a way to change that. Any suggestions?
Best Regards
Rolf
This is what I, found it in the diamond forum.
just change hklm\software\htc\manila its not hard. homelsk options for the left softkey and homersk for the right. path and text.
Hi Jack,
thanks, the solution works , even with touch-flo. I could put the calendar as soft key. Do You know the name of the file where the contats are stored?
Best Regards
Rolf
dont trust me too hard on this im doing it from memory, but... set your path to "\Windows\poutlook.exe" and your argument to "contacts". without quotes on both of course.
Hi Jack,
thanks, I will try this tomorrow, today I forgot my mobile in the office :-(.
Result: I tried it and nothing happened, no contacts shoowing up or any error-msg. So it should be an other file I guess. Do you have any idea?
Best regards
Rolf
i was wondering why that wouldnt work and i tried it on mine and it does. you can check your spelling for any typos or whatever but it should work. no quotes, no caps on contacts, \'s not /'s. hope you can get it working.
If you install the cab i posted you dont need to edit the registry, just select the app you want the link on the soft key to be and click save.
alot of people like to do it themselvs or dont like extra apps. ill check it out and see what it does later.
Hi,
so I tried again the manila cab that was postet above. Well, it works fine, I just cannot find the "contacts" in there which I like to set as left soft-key. The "calendar" setting works fine either as direct setting in the HKLM or using the cab.
I also tried again to start the poutlook.exe directly out of the file-explorer and in contrast to the start of the calendar, nothing happened. So it must be any other file to start ???
Also I tried to link the "kontakte" (a small link-file) directly in HKLM, but got an error-msg telling me that the file does not have the required security-attributes or whatsoever.
I will keep on searching but happy for any adviece.
Berst Regards
Rolf
Hello,
I am trying to set my left softkey to the windows contacts app, a shortcut to this app is \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.ink .. which leads to poutlook.exe
Regardless of what I set the LSKpath to in the registry editor, I always get an error that the file can not be found.
The only time that it will work is if I set it to the manila contacts app ( Manila://people\browserlayer\?.page )
For example, I set it to " \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.ink " or ":MSCONTACTS?outres.dll,-10000" or "\Windows\poutlook.exe" even "\Windows\appbuttons\contacts.ink"
it will say: "The file 'contacts' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of the components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
Like I said this only happens with the Windows Contacts app, but not the Manila Contacts.. Any ideas??
I'd really like to use the windows one because it loads alot faster..
Thank you, sorry for the lengthy post
Hi,
are you on a official or cooked ROM? If it's really a matter of trusted certificates, you could try to install sdkcerts.cab on your device..hope it helps.
I am on an oem rom, what does this cerficates thing do ?
Thanks

It disables certificate warning and allows you to install\run uncertified programs.
To test for your softkey, navigate to the shortcut in explorer and make sure it opens before adding to registry.
lol, apparently shortcuts end in .LNK not .INK .. that fixed it

That's funny!
I´m trying to do the same since hours: connecting the LSK to the original WinMo contacts interface (not the HTC one). And I begin to resign...
I entered the ValueData of the according entry in the registry (HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\MANILA\HomeLSKPath) to:
\Windows\poutlook.exe contacts
or
\Windows\poutlook.exe
or
"\Windows\poutlook.exe" contacts ... and so on. But nothing happens when I press the LSK. Not even an error message.
What do I wrong? Could PLEASE somebody tell me the right command for the Value Data (respectively the right argument for poutlook.exe to start the contacts-interface)?
Thanks in advance!
p.
ps: Ok, call me stupid... or noob. Finally I found out, that the Registry is an other thing than a CommandLineInterface ;-) and that the argument "contacts" has to be written in HomeLSKArguments and not as an argument behind the program path in HomeLSKPath...
Finally it works!

Another option would be Windows\Startmenu\Contacts.LNK (or whereever the link resides)
use shaps advanced config to edit it if you want
