any1 can help me for SD installing? - Touch Cruise Android Development

I've succeeded in installing 1.6 on my SD.
But when I tried the latest version from sourceforge, I found some problems.
I've been seeing the "hold down volume up or dpad center to launch installer" message again and agan. but I tried every keys, it didn't work.
The files in my SD root are:
androidinstall.tgz
default.txt
haret.exe
initrd.gz
zImage
zImage-eclair
Click to collapse
I chose the right default.txt
Could somebody tell me what the problem is?

Finally~~~~~~~~~~~
I made it!!!!!!!!!!
u must hold the key right after u see the scrolling text.
It could be TOO LATE if u push the keys AFTER u see the prompt "hold down volume up or dpad center to launch installer"

Manila "Today Screen" Softkey Change

Here is a step-by-step instructions on how to change the Manila Home "Today" screen bottom "Phone" soft key into "Contacts" soft key.
1. Download and copy the following Cab file onto your device SD card.
2. from your device install the downloaded cab file on the DEVICE memory.
3. Go to Start/Programs/System/Manila Config/Softkeys ( from the bottom tabs ), (Manila Config is also called Manilla 2D Customizer (M2DC)) Locate it and click on "Softkeys").
4. In the box under the "Left Softkey Name" type in Contacts
5. Click on the Right-hand box next to the 'Left Softkey Command space.
6. Locate the "Windows" directory and click it and wait till directory tree opens up.
7. Locate "RandomAccess.exe" file and click it; you will see it toward the bottom of the "Windows" directory tree.
8. Click on "Apply" at the bottom of your screen display.
9. it will prompt you to restart, click OK and you will have the lefthand soft key changed to Contacts. A much better setting than "Phone" command which you can access via the Green "Phone" hard button.
Good luck.
Credit goes to the creator of the "Random Access" cab file... For more info visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
is it possible to use this to add "device lock" to the today screen? im running garmin dk.4.c if that helps. i dont like the slide2unlock.
sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else also, ive been searching for it for at least a hald hour now on here and i cant find it
there is already a wonderful thread in the dev and hacking forum by mpenguin that explains soft keys changes and more on m2d; but thanks for ur post and explanation anyways
Hmmm...
... I downloaded the file. Copied it to my SD card and ran the .cab but it doesn't ask me where I want to install it (phone or SD) and just says it's installed. So I reset the phone look for the Manilla Softkey Edit in Settings/System... nada. Any ideas?
Just a thought... is it because I'm running TF3D? That's the only thing I can think of.

I am experimenting with TF3D but did not dive into key remapping yet. I suggest you copy the cab file onto your device memory and try to run it that way. Your initial installation could have taken place on your SD card perhaps, and thats why you are not seeing it. Try the Device memory and let us know.

Why don't you expand your suggestion by posting a direct link to what you have mentioned? Your remark makes one hate posting any help thread ...

See if you have M2DC ( Manila Customizer). If you do not have it then go to http://code.google.com/p/manilla2dcustomizer/
and install it.
Alternatively, you can have M2DC link the left softkey to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk, no need to install any cab (other than M2DC, of course ).
it's easyier to use M2DC
Manilla customizer the latest build can change the softkeys
much easyier
Took the easy way out...
... I wanted to remap the right softkey to the RSS Hub... but I just used the PTT button instead since I don't use the voice recorder. Thanks for you help though... both of your options worked by the way.
How do i add device lock to the soft keys. By searching couldnt find anything..
Is there any way to change soft key to device lock using manila customizer?

Dawn Chorus - Feel better every day in 10 easy steps!

Hi all
Do you switch your HTC Kaiser on first thing in the morning? Are you fed up looking at some naff operator logo. Well, look no further. I've made a custom Splash Image sequence called "Dawn Chorus". It's designed to make you feel that little bit better in the morning. Here goes:
1) Copy "welcomehead.96.png" in "Dawn Chorus.zip" to the \Windows folder on your device. You may need to use a programme like Total Commander PPC.
2) Copy "animated.gif" in "Dawn Chorus.zip" to the "\Windows" folder as above.
3) You MUST have your device HARD SPL'ed. If you don't have Hard SPL installed then don't go any further!
4) Copy KAISIMG.nbh (in Dawn Chorus.zip attached) to the root of your Storage Card.
5) Completely power down your phone using long press power and selecting "Yes".
6) Press and hold the camera button and press the power button. Keep the camera button pressed until you see the tri-colour bootloader screen.
7) When prompted to, press the power button again to start the flash of the new splash screen.
8) Wait for the progress bar to go all the way over. After you have COMPLETED! SUCCESS! or something like that in blue writing on grey background soft-reset the device using the stylus in the hole method.
9) Enjoy your new splash screen and feel better every morning!
10) Delete KAISIMG.nbh from the root of your Storage Card.
Gorgeous
Gorgeous, been some great sunsets over the last few days.
Thanks.
Okay, have to be doing something wrong. Phone goes into bootloader, but no prompt to press power button
What am I doing wrong ? I followed all the steps, copied kaisimg onto my SD, camera power, bootloader, nothing.
hmmm
Well it works for me but never did get the green button holding the power and camera but held it till i got the tricolor screen and waited and restarted and all works ok for me . I have a great sun rise now
Thank you

Hi
Did you place KAISIMG.nbh on the root of your SD card? Is your device security unlocked? If you can't get it to work, try SSPL. I don't know if that will work but it may be worth a try.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply.
Yes , I put it on the root of my SD card. Tried moving it with Total Commander, tried cutting and pasting it on to the SDcard. My phone is security unlocked and flashed with 3.29Hard. For some reason when I put the phone into Bootloader, KAISIMG.nhb just won't run. Is there a way to run it off the desktop?

Don't use SSPL.
SSPL is for flashing the SPL (Bootloader) on the device, nothing more.
@denco, you need a FAT32 formatted card, and sometimes some card's just don't work. Just flash it with the RUU.

Hi denco7
Yes, take a ROM/Radio update with any update file in and CustomRUU.exe. Rename KAISIMG.nbh to the same as the existng .nbh file in the folder and replace the existing update image file. Then just flash from desktop as usual.
Cheers
andrew-in-woking
Not sure if it's called "KAISIMG.nhb" on your device or was just a typo, but it's "KAISIMG.nBH, not "KAISIMG.nHB."
thanks for this ^^ normally i only reboot my kaiser if something went wrong
so your great startup screens really help me to calm down
btw. flashing via sd-card doesn't work for me.
renaming to RUU_signed.nbh and flashing using active synced worked fine

FYI: The RUU will flash the first file it finds with an NBH extension in it's directory. No need to re-name, just place the RUU and and NBH in the same directory and it will flash

Thanks, Dave
That was my first thought, that my card wasn't formatted right. Just wanted to make sure running RUU with KAISIMG would be alright.
EDIT: That worked, one question though, is it supposed to be animated ? Either way it is beautiful, thanks for this and the Neon theme, which I use all the time.

Creating a shortcut/quicklink to pocketputty.exe on my homescreen (or start menu?)

Hey guys,
I have putty.exe located in my storage card, and can't seem to add it to my home screen and/or my start menu.
Is there any way to acomplish this?
Cheers.
Creating shortcuts
Hi.
Easiest way entirely on phone is:
1) Locate .exe in file manager
2) Right click (Hold down on the file) to select it and 'copy'
3) Navigate to Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs (it can take a while to load sometimes
4) Right click & select 'paste as shortcut'.
Hope this helps
That worked like a charm! thx!
I needed to do this for my igo8.exe.
I tried doing it on my pc but the paste shortcut option was greyed out I'm running windows 7 64 bit, does anyone know the reason for this.
I managed to do it using the file explorer on the device but would really like to know why it doesn't work via my pc?
thanks
It's (I think) to do with the way that Activesync/WMDC interprets actions on our WM devices as it doesn't see it as a straight-forward flash device for obvious reasons. The best way is through your phone.

I have the same problem after starting the desktop and the icons bar on the botton, the device show the keyboard but I'm not able to move the cursor with the stylus.
please note that the device shows me only part of the keyboard, seem like that the resolution is wrong.
During the startup the font changes size. can be related to the wrong resolution??
No actions can be done with the sistem.
thanks and let me know if more information is need
This thread made me come up with a new prefix for these threads.
[LNX]
So put [LNX] in threads for Non Android Linux builds. So users can easily identify or search for specific threads.
Spread the word mate
With /dev/input/event3 it works well.
AmiPro wrote a new detection script for touchscreen.
Now Rhobuntu works on HTC ELF.
yo.. you know what is Elfin device code? i got to edit the startup.txt to make this LXDE runs on it. thanks!
Could you post your startup.txt?
Download for new init-script: http://rhobuntu.googlecode.com/files/init
Hello excuse, you could tell me how to replace the init file? I tried to follow the explanation at the beginning of the post, but I could not mount the file ubuntu.img, in any way. I tried with a live ubuntu, but it did not work. I tried to mount the. IMG file with magic disc but can not mount it. I guess not enough to replace the init file in the destination folder? I tried but during boot change the resolution, and the screen remains fixed on a keyboard in the middle where you can not interact. As was the case before ... Could you explain in detail how to replace the init file, or at least to run on the touch rhobuntu elf?If you want to write me a pm. Thanks
P.s. sorry for my bad English

Download Ubuntu LiveCD
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Run liveCD
- copy Ubuntu.img to the root of your harddisk (c:\ for example)
- open terminal
- open folder of Ubuntu.img (cd /media )
- mount Ubuntu.img ( sudo mount -o loop Ubuntu.img /mnt )
- run: sudo nautilus (FileManager)
- select "show hidden files"
- copy new init to /mnt
- close nautilus
- maybe you have to end the nautilus task in terminal with CTRL+C
- umount Ubuntu.img ( sudo umount /mnt )
- copy new init to /mnt
Thank you soo much!!!! Now Rhobuntu run well on my elf!!!!

did you replaced the init file?
Thanks buddy, I managed to get it installed. Mistake was mine, I copied Ubuntu.img file in ubuntu directory. as i moved it out on storage card root, it got installed.
But after installation there was a big key board on screen which i managed to drage down with stylus. but what I feel is the resolution need to be changes as it is showing everything so big.
Also, I tried to make a call to this device, we get ring at device from which I was calling, but there was nothing on the device on which I install rhobuntu. also I could not make a call from here. Can you help me in these cases.
Found something while starting rhobuntu, you may be interested to know.
While starting rhobuntu from haret.exe at one point it shows starting ophono daemon something, where it says can't create signal descriptor file. is it helpful to resolve this issue?
Gourav
Hi,
Got installed the Rhobuntu can access it. Facing two issues on it as follows;
1. Phone function not working as ofono daemon says - can not create signal filedescriptor: Function not implemented
2. Resolution are not as per device.
Please anybody help me to get all this working.

[Q] Pola100 NAND Install

Hello every one!
I have a problem installing Android to my Polaris 100 in NAND, and I hope You can help me.
I followed the tutorial for NAND install on androidhtc wiki.
The problem is when I boot it says: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz"
I downloaded from wiki androidupdate.tgz, put it in andboot folder reboot the device with vol up holding then, I selected install update and I get an error: "can`t open /sdcard/andboot/androidupdate.tar no shuch file or directory"
I have noticed the difference in extensions so I opened androidupdate.tgz and saw that androidupdate.tar is inside. I extracted androidupdate.tar from androidupdate.tgz and put it in andboot on sdcard. But i get the same error.
I have also tried with Mixer in latest Atool 1.1.4 to merge androidinstall and androidupdate but on boot i get: "Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz" androidinstall.tar is also from androidhtc the release is system-froyo-all-unodex-15-01-11_18
Thank You for Your time, best regards Ivan
first mode problem:
did you place the file in andboot before click install update?
(left the file as it is, do not extract)
second mode problem:
after merging the module and the androidinstall did you extract and repack?
did you reinstall with the new android install?
@first mode problem
I have tried both, androidupdate.tgz with androidupdate.tar in it, which was originally downloaded as that from androidhtc wiki. And i have tried extracting androidupdate.tgz and put androidupdate.tar in andboot folder but I get the same error.
@second mod problem
Again i tried both ways same error...
I don`t get the last part "did you reinstall with the new android install?", I did not managed to install android on NAND at all.
BTW it`s confusing having files in multiple archives so what`s correct? Androidinstall.tar in androidinstall.tgz or just androidinstall.tar whit system folder in it? When i merge androidupdate.tgz and androidinstall.tgz with Atool I get androidinstall.tgz with androidinstall.tgz in it...
Best regards Ivan
metalac666
What i think liquid means is:
When you open Atools and you are at the mixer,
you need to apply the right module update and save it!
So here is my suggestion:
Put the Android OS in one folder on your desktop, and the update in another folder on your desktop. Also create a new folder (maybe name it andboot)where you will put the outcome of the mixing aka the new androidinstall!
Open the mixer, load the OS as usual, then click "Module update", and when it asks for a working directory point it to the folder where the update is in!!
Then mix them, and DONT FORGET to save the new androidinstall (wich comes from this procedure) on the folder i mentioned before.
hope i helped
@makousika
Thank You for the tip.
If I undersood correctly, I have to put androidinstall in folder lets call it Folder A, and androidupdate in another folder lets call it Folder B. So when I`m at Mix in atool i should add my androidinstall which is in Folder A, set a working direcotory which is Folder B, which contains androidupdate and click on Module update which download androidupdate...??? Extract it with that button that looks like Debian logo and click on save button to get my new androidinstall.
Well if I did undertood that correctly it does not work for me unfortunately.
Best regards Ivan
No, no, maybe i said it wrong...
Lets call Folder A the folder where the androidinstall is in.
And call Folder B the folder where the update is.
you open the rom mix, you hit the add icon and select Folder A.
Then, you hit the button at the right (looks like a brown box with an arrow poinitng down) the one saying "Module update". If you press it, it asks for a working directory, and you put folder B.
You mix, save, and hopefully you are done!!
If you cant do it, i have a thread where i've put up a build, take a look.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921053
@makousika
I saw Your thread and tried to run Android via Haret, at first it did not work and then it hit me. I was formating my sdcard, and it changed my partition table from primary to logical. I used EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition to reformat my sdcard and change partition table from logycal to primary. Android is working via haret, probably that is why NAND install did not want to start.I will post tomorrow (today) was this really the issue for above mentioned NAND install problem that i had.
Best regards Ivan
Well ill be damned! The problem was in partition table. I have successfully installed android in nand on my pola100.
Best regards Ivan
Hi! I have the same problem in my Polaris 100 (Install module for this kernel apply modules/androidupdate.tgz). Kernel 2.6.25 was runing well but wifi wasn't working.
