Lately, I've been noticing that with the newer ROMs I flash, less and less of them support modding the Start Menu. I can't tell what's causing it, if it's newer builds, newer Sense versions, a piece of software somewhere, the different ROMs themselves? Anyone care to enlighten me?
I've been trying to use Nickshot's WinPhone7/Metro Start Menu Mod, which I absolutely love, and it works sporadically. However, I've tried going from three to four columns, and that doesn't work either...

ehm do you mean that mod which is shown on the picture with 3 or 4 columns?
Yeah Start Menu Mods wont work on my LG GM750 either
My 2 Cents
I have found that this mod does work on some, but not all the roms based on the most current builds. It seems to depend on what is cooked into the individual rom or possibly some customizations cause this mod to fail. most of the mod creators suggest you remove any other mods that affect the same functional area to avoid mod conflicts. (This is based on observation on my TP2 & HD2.
Cheers

There are a lot of nice progrmas developed on this forum, very useful.
Thanks to the programmers.
The problem however is. You don't know anymore what to use.
I.e.
I am currently using"WkTASK"working on a translation for it. It got everthing you need for a taskmanager. It even has a launcher.
I also found "Quickmenu"it also has a taskmanager, very nice but what taskmanager to use now? I mean since I am again using the Prophet again I only have 64MB of memory to use.
I also use the "BatteryStatus/overclock "plugin, and it also has a taskmanger build-in So basically I have three to use from. awesome skins see post three!

Maybe "Menneisyss" has to review some of these, or maybe he already did?
I just gonna play with them to see what is best to use.
Meanwhile I found out that the best taskmanager is "WkTASK", a lot of options. I'll keep on using this.
"BatteryStatus"plugin is great for displaying the status of the battery, wifi, free space and overclocking features. And check out that skin in post #3
"Quickmenu"is great for the cascade menu's, and for that it is fully configurable.Though it also has a "x"to close program and a battery gauge.Which I switch off by now
So that's the way I will use it for now. Waiting until the "Ultimate
Plugin"is will be released, which combines everthing of the above in one!
Do you have any "musthave" to recommend? I don't think I need more taskmanagers now
i have recently upgraded my HD2 to an Energy ROM which is amazing.
it runs alot smoother and faster not to mention it looks great!

Energy ROM messaging screen and dialler.
-----------------------
i would very much appreciate it if anyone could develop or give me information on how to restore these two bits to the ones from the stock ROM, or if there is any cabs floating about on xda that do this, please tell me!!!
can anyone help?
please i don't like this new messaging layout!!!
suggest you post this in the actual rom thread!
Have you tried switching from classic mode to threaded in the messaging app?
ardsar, i will take your advice and post this in the ROM thread.
also i have tried tweaking the messaging options in both BsB Tweaks and also in advanced config, neither of these returns it to stock so the only way i can think to return to stock and also retain the rest of the energy rom features is to have an extracted cab for messaging.
I am wondering if any of the devs could help me figure out how to make the backgrounds on the 3 applications mentioned above to be semi-transparent like the DarkEdge theme for the droid. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/43628-release-darkedge-ui.html
I am currently running enom 1.9.2 and really think the wallpaper showing through the apps looks amazing. If anyone can help me figure out how to do this I'd greatly appreciate it. I noticed that the DarkEdge team used an xml edit to target ic_tab_selected_contacts.png and modified it, but when I use their setup my contacts tab dissapears when I select it. Can anyone help me make the normal custom background appear see through so the tabs stay where they should?
I will screw up the background so I can show you a link of what it does when I use their edited xml and files. I am not trying to redistribute their work, I am just trying to find another way to do something similar. Also I am using lots of parts of Manup's theme for my current setup, I am not really a themer, so I tend to use bits and pieces of real themers work on my own device. I have never redistributed other peoples work as my own and I don't plan on doing that in the future, so any help you give me will only be used for myself unless I can get an okay from the original themers.

First of all: I did not make this myself!
Found this a while ago for the DjDroid Android 2.2 Release packed together with WiFi-N Driver and some other stuff.
I just repacked this, so only the Circle-Battery is installed without the other stuff around.
All Credits to the developer (name not known)!
This should work on odexed and de-odexed ROM's afaik.
Of course, you see the amount of battery remaining in percent in the middle of the circle.
EDIT:
Sorry for the trouble at the moment. Seems like the Update forces you, to reenter the Mobile-Network APN Settings. I will try to fix this

I just installed it though, and I appear to have now lost my HDSPA icon. Instead I get a picture of a phone with 5 bars underneath it?
Hi debug77,
would be helpful, if you could post a screenshot of this. Please let me know, what kind of ROM you got running, perhaps I can help you with another file fitting for your ROM

Okay chaps and chappesss I am gearing up for my foray into the Android dual-boot wilderness and trying to get stuff sorted.
Whilst still trying to finalise the Android build I wish to use I wanted to clarify BootLoader.
I know of:
-JMZ (the free v4 one!)
-Exceller
-mkskip's
I know with the JMZ I can also use to install Android on first use.
Do the other 2 do that as well?
Does any one offer an advantage in terms of battery life over the other 2 (in the way they load android relative to extent of WinMo still active underneath - if you get what I mean?)
Any major reasons or other features to suggest one over the other?
I like the idea of having a WinMo button to load into Android as per mksip rather than having to power-off and select on start-up (don't know if Exceller does that as well though )
Any others I should consider instead?
Thanks
this is my favorite one
