[MOD] Clear Weather Widget mod for My Touch, Sprint 2.1 and RegawMOD!!

Backup your current setup before trying to flash this.
Ok folks I FINALLY figured out how to get a clear background on the Weather Widgets. This is NOT the HTC Clock/Weather widget. This will mod the actual weather widget itself. I know in 1.5 we were able to modify the background by making it transparent. As we all know HTC decided to play the xml game with us. Through vigorous xml editing I FINALLY achieved a clear weather widget on both the medium and small versions. The large version would look dumb clear so I didnt do it...I may do it later on...Here is a flashable update to update the weather widget. If you are on the latest 2.1 rom, download the one named clearweather-sprint-signed.zip. If you're using RegawMOD Rom download the one for that since apparently they are all different...weird. I also attached the current com.htc.WeatherWidget.apk. Thanks to Jerry for putting that up. Keep in mind you may need to go into Applications and clear HTC Sense as well as the Weather Widget cache. Let me know if it works. Now for a screenshot...

Yea no joke. Now its if you dont know **** about .xml's you're screwed...

So do you know how to revert to the stock weather widget? This did not work for me (2.1)...thx.
(p.s. all the Clear Cache options are greyed out.)

Try and reboot. If it doesnt work, than it doesnt work. You shouldve made a bakup if you didnt...

Can others with the normal Sprint 2.1 rom try this...Backup first before you do. It may not work...

Going to try this now, let yall know what's up with it.
After working a bit with Vince, it works for Regaw 2.1/

I have been looking for this fix for a while now... Ill be keeping my fingers crossed that you can get it working. Thanks.

Try clearing HTC Sense and Weather Widgets in Applications. I got the same thing you did and I cleared everything and it worked...In the meantime i'll grab the .apk from the latest 2.1 roms and mod it.

What do you mean? It is working...My screenshots show that its working. Clear HTC Sense and Weather Widgets in Applications. Then reboot and see if it works...

There's no "weather Widgets" in Applications.

Yup but it didnt fix anythign. Weather widgets is completely gone from my phone.

I found the problem. Give me a few and i'll have a new update for the latest 2.1 Rom. I need to also fix the title...

Can you tell me if this will work on regaw's latest ROM please? I don't want to cause more problems with my phone than I have now. Thank you.

If you can pull com.htc.WeatherWidget.apk and attach it here I can check it out. Or, you can backup really quick and try the newest one I posted...

Can we get this ported to the EVO?
Just the .apk would work, right? the DX's sms app looks so much better than any i've seen on any other phone. I'd love to have it.

First of all, XDA doesn't do anything. That is simply the forum. It's the developers, many of them with jobs, kids and other responsibilities, that give up their time to help you. So at ease.

Are u experiencing any lag with handcent?? Like when the message is received it takes like 5-10 seconds longer till the phone notifys me even tho im viewing the message thro the quick reply screen.

Everything seems normal. But there are some things you have to change. In send settings, you have to tell it to split messages or ones longer than one text wont go through. Set it to "split by word" for the best results.
Also, disable the lockscreen popup if you have the stock sense loclscreen since it wont work and will wakelock your phone. And lastly, disable the lockscreen from turning on your screen so it doesn't turn on in your pocket.

I think i may have figured out part of the problem but not the whole problem. I had Blur background checked off which slows down pop up performance, so that might fix some of it hopefully.

You can use Handcent to get chatbubbles like that. Also chompsms but chompsms has ad space whereas handcent only has them in settings.

i don't want that though. those are like **** apps, i'd rather just have one coded by motorola or whoever

How are they **** apps? They offer a lot more. No stock messaging apply will give you a quick-reply popup or let you send a quick text by holding the search button.

[APP] Qik that works on CM7/Gingerbread 2.3.X

Alright so up to now, I've had hell trying to get QIK working on CM7 or for any GB rom for that matter. Well look no more.....
For those that have had issues installing it or whatever....do this:
1. Download from the link and save it to your desktop somewhere
2. Connect your device to your computer and turn on USB storage
3. Once your device shows up on your computer, drag the .apk to a folder of your choice (I prefer the root of the SD card but that's just me)
4. Turn off your USB Storage and then use your favorite file manager and find the file and install it
I've changed the file to a better file sharing site because that jumbo site was a bit laggy downloading file. Oh and thanks to XDA member teh roxxorz and MagnusRagnarok, we now have three places to which to download this file from!

I got that too, but download it from the link, then mount as r/w in root explorer and it works. The file should be 3.5mb.

I've never had this problem but I noticed if I change my governor I can duplicate your problem. The way I managed to get it not to do this is by setting my CPU governor to smartass and making sure I'm not running a lot of different services in the background as this will sometimes cause for certain apps to freeze or perform below par.

I would make a backup with Titanium just to be careful and if you want, then upgrade and see if QIK finally came out with something useful.....if not, then restore back to this. It doesn't hurt.....you can always uninstall the market one and come here and download it again.,,

I've heard of that happening, I honestly don't know why it happens to some people and for others it works perfectly. I'll look into it and see what I can dig up on it....possibly try to fix it myself.....thanks for the input!

this has killed me for such a long time. i recently found an app called socialcam. pretty much the same concept, but i did love my qik for sharing vids of my son with fam so ive been bummed since gb till i found socialcam on accident.

Well, I installed it, and got to log in, but when I tried to record something, I got a FC after 1 second of use. Too bad, I like QIK. I do have tango on my phone, and I know that works.....

I'm sorry, I'm working on fixing that! For some reason it doesn't do that on my phone but people have been reporting that left and right! For now, the main thing I wanted to share is that you can use the Video Chat feature which in previous releases by QIK, this was impossible on CM7/2.3 roms........BUT I'm trying to see what's causing this FC and I'll fix it once I find it! Do you think you can upload a logcat of the FC and PM it to me?

do you need logcats? mine freezes up if I try and record through it.
edit: well not really freezing...just stops recording. I can then hit the stop button and back out of it without issue. Just doesn't record.

[APP] [UPDATED 6/24] Text Notify (Now Supports K9 Mail)

This app is simple but useful for people that heavily use full screen apps (games/browsers/ect). It gives a nice little notification that shows the text message/email you just received, allowing you to decide if it's worth quitting your app to reply to it (see picture), even if you're in another app! You can turn the notifications on and off via the main screen. The best part of it is you can play and the notification will not interfere with your touch on the game. It might also have the simplest options menu.
FEATURE LIST:
Now supports K9 Mail (requires K9 Mail for functionality)
Shows the sender (name from contacts list or number if contact doesn't exist)
Shows the contents of the message
Low profile
Doesn't interfere with the touch interface of whatever task you are doing
Easy to turn on or off just by the touch of a checkbox
Lightweight
No more quitting Angry Birds just to see that someone texted you "lol"
Works in portrait and landscape orientations
Permissions explained:
Read SMS: So that it can read the text to show you
Read contacts: so that it can see if anyone in your contacts shares the same number and the text sender

P.S. I know this is a VERY simplistic app and may seem pointless. If you feel that way that is fine, however I have had a lot of people that laughed at it originally tell me they can't use any full screen app without and they never turn it off. I agree. it changes from phone to phone what it looks like. on your phone it may be more transparent. on my droid x it was more transparent than that.

That's an awesome idea. It might take me a bit of time (I'm still learning a lot of development stuff) but I'll try to integrate that asap.

I can try. I don't really know what Handcent does that alters the messaging system but I'll look into it

This is actually insanely genius. I probably won't ever need to use it because I don't have that many full-screen apps, but the creativity and method of execution is great!

Thanks. It is a newer feature in Handcent that was just added in the new update, my hope was to be able to freeze my stock messaging app and use only HC. I was testing the feature when I came across your thread, thats why I was able to troubleshoot so quick. Right now I have the HC "default app" setting turned off so I can continue using Text Notify!

I think I know why it interferes. I'll try to fix it asap. Hopefully next market update.

After root, no visiual voicemail or app... help?

Rooted my Droid Charge last week, so glad I did!
However now, I have no visual voicemail at all. I tried to download some apps, but none worked well at all. Not really into Google voice, like having the voicemails on my phone for quick access.
Any suggestions on what to do? I'm paying $2.99/mo with Verizon for this
I'm running GummyCharge 2.0, VooDoo_0807 and Firmware version says 2.2.1. Kernel 2.6.32.9

I'm guessing you're using Gummy 2.0 FE? You have to go into TSM Parts to get your clock back. They posted instructions in the OP where you downloaded the ROM from.

Yes this modification needs no introduction to post fascinate user, but for those who are new to it there are a few things needed to know.
-When you first boot up your clock will be a default of black and appear to be missing. Do not worry this is the way it is. Just goto Settings > TSM Parts > Notification Settings and set your clock color by either 1 selecting a different color in the wheel then clicking it in the center, or just clicking white. Any changes to the clock color requires a reboot to make the changes.
-Hide clock or AM/PM to change you need to rotate your phone to landscape and it will change.

I'm going to try and reinstall the ROM. A buddy of mine said he had the same problem, downloaded the new one and it works so worth a shot

After an almost fresh install, the clock NOW WORKS!!! I guess there was something with either the ROM or files, or possibly the build. I must of changed the color a dozen times, selected/unselected and rebooted for a day straight. Installed ROM and went in, changed color, reset its there!
Still having a problem with voicemail tho

I thought I solved this, but nope. Here is where I'm at...
Took me a little digging around but I got it to work.

It took me a few tries, but here is what I did.
Downloaded the apps and saved them to the SD card. Opened Root Explored and copied them to system/app
Changed permissions to Read and Write buttons for User, and only the Read boxes next to Group and Others.
Rebooted. VM service loads, but keeps crashing... ARGH!!!!
