Hey, so the other day my phone stopped getting reception of any kind. No phone calls or data connection, I just have the No Service symbol in the task bar. When I try to enable a data connection in Comm Manager, I get an error that says, "Dialed: The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." I really don't know what I would do in Settings, if anything needs to be done. I have taken my phone all around the city, and it still says no service. It has been like this for a couple days now, so I doubt that T-Mobile is having a massive outage in my area (Pittsburgh). Does anyone know anything I could do? I've tried many soft resets, a couple hard resets, flashing different ROMs, and flashing different radios. I also checked my payment info and I'm not late for a payment or anything. So any help?

Error when trying to connect to internet "The answering modem has disconnected"
Whenever I try to do anything that involves connecting to the internet I get the error message "The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings," and underneath that pops up the message, "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network." It seems to have happened randomly, as I haven't done anything to my phone since flashing Da_G's clean rom a week and a half ago. I thought it might have been maybe just the network in my area, but everyone else gets 3g internet just fine. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
disable the hidden proxy. Programs - tools - proxy
Didn't work. I even tried a hard reset and still the same thing.
Did you have your Internet connection working after flashing Da_G's ROM? If you did, and then suddenly without any warning (and without you changing settings) it stopped working, and you're sure that others that have the same provider as you have their Internet connection working, then it's possible that your provider screwed something up. In that case, you should give them a call.
Actually now that you mention it, I'm on an employee plan through Best Buy Mobile, and they're redoing the data plans and making them cheaper, so they may have taken the original one off for the time being and will hopefully put the new one back on soon? I'm hoping so anyway. Thanks guys.
Did you try to turn flight mode on and off?
The few times I had this message doing that resolved the problem.
I've been having an issue with my Sprint Touch (Vogue) the past few weeks where I have high signal strength, but the data connection will not open. That is, if I try to open a program like Opera I'll get a notification bubble that says "A data connection cannot be opened for an unknown reason...."
I've found two ways to work around this. One is to soft reset the phone. More recently, I've discovered that all I need to do is toggle the radio off and then back on again, and it connects instantly.
This seems to happen at random times and prevents programs like my weather app from automatically connecting when necessary for updates.
Hard reset and restoring from backup has not solved the problem. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this, or heard of a solution?
trying replacing your radio ROM
go to the Vogue section and look for other Radio ROMs. you can read which ones are better.. and then flash the one you see fit.
Hey everyone, first post here. Been a Droid Eris user with KaosFroyo/CM for a few months now, and everything has been awesome until a few days ago.
I lost all data connectivity.
2G, 3G, WiFi, same exact symptoms. Every app that uses data throws the error in its own specific manner, but always some variant of "No data connection" or "Network unavailable" or "Check your connection" etc. etc.
On the handshake level, everything seems normal. I can connect to WiFi networks and it does the usual "Obtaining IP Address..." --> "Connected." I get the WiFi logo in the notification bar. And I have the 3G logo unless I turn cell data off, and it's up/down arrows even flash a little right after I turn cell data on.
It broke almost a week ago, so you can be sure I've tried many WiFi networks and many cell towers and rebooted many times and taken the battery out... all the usual stuff. There is something seriously wrong. Help!
Thanks,
Mike
I'd try a master reset. If that doesn't change anything, call your service provider and see if the phone can be swapped for another under warranty. Did this with a Droid 1 a few months back with Verizon w/o any problems.
Good luck!
Edit: I just noticed you are running a mod on that phone. Have you run Fix Permissions? Sometimes that irons out bugs that appear. I'd get with the developers and see what they say. One thing you could try is to re-install that mod. Be sure to wipe all data when you do. It'll be like starting over; but, starting over with the mod installed.
Good luck!
Back up and wipe the phone and reinstall the rom
Master reset did the trick. Unfortunately I didn't have great backup tools, and I couldn't even install new ones due to lack of connectivity (and apk's not always available). Saved my sms history at least, by copying the database to sd and back, thanks to root.
Really appreciate the noob help culture. (must say, it's weird being one, as I'm generally proficient except that I joined the Android world by purchasing a pre-rooted/modded phone)
Every time I reboot my phone, my text messaging stops working (for roughly 3-4 hours). Everything else works fine - I can make and receive phone calls, connect to the internet, etc. I've tried using 3 different SMS apps in case that was the issue, but it doesn't make a difference. I try updating the PRL, updating the profile, even reactivating but still nothing.
I've had the issue on Lollipop and Marshmallow, and this is my second GS6 Edge. Doesn't matter whether I'm connected to wifi or Sprint network. Stock ROM, not rooted. Anyone else ever have an issue like this? I thought maybe I could mess with the settings, but when I go to 'mobile networks' I don't have the option to edit or add Access Points, and Network Operators is grayed out.

I have tried that multiple times, but no luck. Even tried ultra power saving mode in case one of my apps is impacting my text (however, still the same issue after a factory reset so it shouldn't be an app issue).
Wrong forum, could someone move this, please.
Hello there,
What i did so far:
Factory reset 2x
Network resets 2x
Enables/disabled WiFi+
Used different apn
What i experience
When im not using my phone for several minutes, go back and use it, it wont connect to the internet. This means i cant load anything internet related. While the problem happens, the outbound traffic symbol lights up permanently. This occurs on both, mobile data an wifi. Tested several wifi access point, been through several locations to connect to different signal towers.
I have the feeling, that when i did a reset, it worka better for several hours, but goes back to the bad behaviour.
Any suggestions?
Problem seems to be gone after a third reset.
