I know that with jac hero on the G1 is available that uses swap partiton on the SD card and runs very quickly and is fantastic rom. The Hero builds for the Magic are a little poky yet. Does anyone know how I can change or get a rom like the one on the G1 from justanothercrowd. His rom is fantastic and I don't personally know how to make the changes that he did. If anyone can help me make those changes or know where I can get a rom like that that would make everyone with a sapphire be a Hero and with better looks. That rom is spectacular.

Well, you can just grab that rom and use it on the magic ( Google Ion ). The only thing that does not work is the WIFI rest is all working fine. I am running his rom on my google ion. Just dont flash the SPL ... just install the update.zip and u are good to go.
Cheers !
i dont realy know if it works, bu u can extract the wlan.ko from a hero build for your firmware and flash it into the other
We are talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534479 right? =D i would love a port for the 32A magic.
thanks,

Yes thats the one I am using (2.73) on the google ION ( 32B board ). I also tried what kingchris suggested of taking the old wlan.ko from a previous Hero build, but that did not work.
yea it is a great build but the rotation and wifi doesnt work like mentioned above can someone please get this build over to the magic asap with those two kinks worked out
I cannot get the jachero 2.73 to work on my 32A Magic. I have tried multiple SPL's and no dice. I am booting into recovery rom, wiping everything, and applying jachero update.zip.
It sits on the HTC Magic screen and does not proceed. Any ideas? All other Magic-specific Hero builds are waaaay too slow for my liking.

Thanks, this worked great.
I managed to get WiFi working using this wlan.ko on my PVT32A:
http://rapidshare.com/files/249345621/wlan.ko
Just download and:
adb remount
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko
Now that I have flashed the boot.img permanently this is a great ROM!
EDIT: Also using this optimized Rosie.apk makes this really quite fast and totally useable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532822
rotation
how do i get the screen rotation to work im on a google ion 32b board
and how get wy working this on 32b
wlan.ko form other hero roms wont work
Is anyone running this on a 32B? How does it compare to fatal1tys rom? Must be faster then that?
It's certainly getting a lot of love on the other forum, if we can get wifi working on 32B then it looks very very promising.
@hakeem9 and @hakeem9;
1) did you guys flash any spl?
2) did you swap partition your sd card? since we already have more ram than the G1 and the 32B users...

Good find...will it work?
Someone try it?!
Wow sounds scary - flashing radio from another device. Scary.
But we want bluetooth so much, don't we...
I want BT as much as the next...but I wont be the tester lol, I have bricked 1 out of 7 G1's that I have rooted, was my mistake as I was tired from a 14hr shift at work, stayed up late night before and boom, didnt do radio first.
Its almost as if not having BT is worth it if you want Hero on a G1...Kinda lol
Someone needs to try it. It seems like a logical fix.

Yeah, 32b is basically a g1 without the keyboard. That's why it makes some sense for this to be a fix. You should try it.

Had to revert. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

It wouldn't even let me get to the new recovery to flash a 32a ROM
I followed these steps Eugene posted. Maybe I missed something. Good news, its recoverable at least:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
- press MENU to power off! (do not reboot)
- hold HOME and POWER to boot into recovery mode
- apply update
EDIT: I'm thinking it didn't quite take the radio image even though it said it did. It still thought it was a Dream 32B instead of 32A.
i got a bootloop. im pretty sure i followed the post almost to the T twice i tried. sounded good in theory....
even went to a hero rom (king) prior to instillation just to give it a little more hope.

CAUTION: Rooting the new MyTouch3G Fender LE or MyTouch 1.2 (phones with a 3.5mm headphone jack on top) requires a different process. Be careful not to mistake flashing instructions for regular 32As which do not take into account this new hardware (these devices appear to be hybrid 32A/32B boards, thus ordinary methods will result in the touchscreen not working). It is possible to get root, but there are no custom ROMs as of February 2010. Two threads at XDA here and here explain the situation further. This is an evolving issue; please be patient with developers.
For standard 32As, 'rooting' usually doesn't rely on any exploit per se, because most 32A Magics are shipped with a fastboot compatible SPL installed. If you see the "3 skateboarding Androids" screen when you boot to fastboot (Volume Down + Power), you should be able to do the following:

Read what you quoted. On any phone with Android (ANY PHONE), they have the 'skating' droids. Don't think just because that picture is there that the process is the same.
nope you cant
Nope you can't follow that guide as far as I understand what the person is trying to say is that if you have the 32a with 3.5mm on top than you need to use a different method to root evebthough you might see the Android on skateboard as the person described this is a hybrid of 32a and we all noe that 32a spl is the one with fastboot enabled which is the Android on skateboard

I have the MyTouch with 3.5 mm jack and now I'm running a ported version of Stokes 2.1 Eclair rom. Not only that but I also have it themed. There are a few things that aren't working but I certainly prefer having eclair with no bluetooth and video than stock. But that's just me.
how well/bad does 2.1 work on the mytouch?

As I said, it isn't 100% yet but I'm using it and it has rebooted my phone a couple of times (literally like twice). Bluetooth doesn't work, 3D doesn't work, Launcher2 doesn't work, live wallpapers don't work (some third party from Market does), a2sd doesn't work (but you don't really need it) and swap didn't work for me without adding a script to phoneprioritizer.
Other than all of that Stokes Eclair 2.1 runs beautifully on my MyTouch and I average 13000 or so on BenchmarkPi.
mine does it in 17905

Use adb and type busybox free.
Is swap enabled?
If not then find and install phonerenicer and add a script in the phoneprioritizer directory (or whatever it's called that is stored on your sdcard) and add sh /system/etc/init.d/01enableswap at the bottom.
That worked for me anyway. I already had my sdcard partitioned fat/ext4/swap though.

and according to what i read for the hero recovery you have to have 6.35 radio and 1.76.2007 spl...so i know that not any recovery can be used...all depends on what radio and spl the ROM requires
Turn your phone off, hold volume down and power, it will show some info at the top(radio etc etc) the top line will say "pvt ship s on g" for example or "ship s on h" for example, the h and g are obviously what you want to pay attention to, if it says h , flash amun ras h recovery, if it says g, flash his g recovery. "32A users with SPL 1.76.x should flash the Hero version!" in big red letters at the top
Ah okay then. I really dom't see your problem of you have the correct image.
i flashed my mytouch with the wrong RADIO, its was for a hero, im just stuck at the spash screen. i already tried to go to the fastboot and tried:
1-recover it by flashing sappimg on the gold card, its says wrong model id!
2-i also tried to going back to the stock mytouch 1.2 spl and radio using the command prompt and androidsdk and all i get its "FAILED <remote not allow>"
any advice???, im willing to give $10 by paypal if some one can help me out and unbrick it im a man of my word
the radio i see on the fastboot is 6.35.10.18 and the hboot is 1.33.013
I did this exact same thing. If you can boot to recovery, you can salvage it pretty easily by flashing an update.zip that has the proper SPL. If not, then you may want to try one of the things I did, which was to remake the gold card, because somehow it got reverted and needed the first sector rewritten. Then you can run the SAPPIMG.zip fix. I hope it works out!

The default SPL is 'perfected' that means you need to make a gold card in order to flash the Engineering 2010 SPL, then from there you can flash the needed hboot, recovery, etc (ie: click the "rooted" link in my signature)
Your lucky you can even get as far as you can. I didnt realize there was anything besides your basic 32a and 32b. I checked my Specs and thought I had 32a. I flashed both updated radio and SPL for 32A and bricked my phone. Nothing working not even fastboot. I returned to Tmobile and replaced learning my lesson.
If you are within the return just swap it if you can and be careful next time.

Doubtful. Its likely only 5% or so Mytouch owners root their phones. Then out of that 5% another 5% brick them. It is HIGHLY unlikely it affects our prices in the slightest. I have 2 friends who work at tmobile stores and neither of them have ever had a phone swapped during the 14 days due to it being bricked... the thing is its not common enough to bring prices up. They have to meet consumer needs and compete with competitors. I've never bricked a phone before and I'm careful, I'm sorry I didnt realize that 32a and 1.2 were different at first and just wanted to update like I did with my G1. The mytouch is a somewhat confusing phone with all of its variations ( kind of annoying ).
Hell... I'm definitely not going to apologize to anyone for swapping my bricked phone for a new one. Who wouldnt feel fortunate and lucky to save the load of cash by getting it exchanged for free during the return... even if you are the reason its broken??? Put yourselves in the users shoes for a change and realize people make mistakes regardless of how perfect we think we are.
It is important to keep a large difference in contract vs non-contract prices to encourage people to sign up for new activation to get the phone MUCH cheaper than not.
BUMP, any help??
