jachero for magic - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I know that with jac hero on the G1 is available that uses swap partiton on the SD card and runs very quickly and is fantastic rom. The Hero builds for the Magic are a little poky yet. Does anyone know how I can change or get a rom like the one on the G1 from justanothercrowd. His rom is fantastic and I don't personally know how to make the changes that he did. If anyone can help me make those changes or know where I can get a rom like that that would make everyone with a sapphire be a Hero and with better looks. That rom is spectacular.

Well, you can just grab that rom and use it on the magic ( Google Ion ). The only thing that does not work is the WIFI rest is all working fine. I am running his rom on my google ion. Just dont flash the SPL ... just install the update.zip and u are good to go.
Cheers !

i dont realy know if it works, bu u can extract the wlan.ko from a hero build for your firmware and flash it into the other

We are talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534479 right? =D i would love a port for the 32A magic.
thanks,

Yes thats the one I am using (2.73) on the google ION ( 32B board ). I also tried what kingchris suggested of taking the old wlan.ko from a previous Hero build, but that did not work.

yea it is a great build but the rotation and wifi doesnt work like mentioned above can someone please get this build over to the magic asap with those two kinks worked out

I cannot get the jachero 2.73 to work on my 32A Magic. I have tried multiple SPL's and no dice. I am booting into recovery rom, wiping everything, and applying jachero update.zip.
It sits on the HTC Magic screen and does not proceed. Any ideas? All other Magic-specific Hero builds are waaaay too slow for my liking.

I pulled my boot.img from a pvt32a hero rom and tested with fastboot and it works ..

Thanks, this worked great.
I managed to get WiFi working using this wlan.ko on my PVT32A:
http://rapidshare.com/files/249345621/wlan.ko
Just download and:
adb remount
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko
Now that I have flashed the boot.img permanently this is a great ROM!
EDIT: Also using this optimized Rosie.apk makes this really quite fast and totally useable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532822

rotation
how do i get the screen rotation to work im on a google ion 32b board

and how get wy working this on 32b
wlan.ko form other hero roms wont work

Is anyone running this on a 32B? How does it compare to fatal1tys rom? Must be faster then that?
It's certainly getting a lot of love on the other forum, if we can get wifi working on 32B then it looks very very promising.

@hakeem9 and @hakeem9;
1) did you guys flash any spl?
2) did you swap partition your sd card? since we already have more ram than the G1 and the 32B users...

I seem to have broken my Magic.. help

So after applying a new spl and getting root access, i downloaded a Hero rom.. applied the update and it went through and said installation was finished. I let it sit for a bit and nothing happend, so I just pressed the reboot device.
well, since then, it's been hanging on the Rogers logo. I've tried recovering or resetting, and the furthest I have gotten is "HTC Magic" and it still just sits there for ever.
I didnt make any nandroid backups because I am an idiot, didn't think I needed them yet because I have nothing I cared to save.. so I can't try recover via http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire_Hacking_2#sec06.
I don't have a data or system file.
Kinda lost as to what to do now.
try to pull out the battery for a time,
go to recovery,
wipe and flash a stable build for yout phone
should help
test in fastboot...
i think rogers is a 32a boart so use only the 32a Roms or they wont boot

I can get to recovery, I can wipe, but I am overwhelmed with all this stuff at the moment, so I don't know what a stable build would be.. like what files i should be trying.. I've downloaded 10 million things but can't remember what they are for
edit: oh my god, i am so stupid. this rom is 32b, and i knew that, and i knew there was 32a version, i found it awhile ago before i got my magic.. and now am just remembering.. frak me, i will try that.

Did you format your SD card? Most of the hero's have some sort of swap and Apps2SD installed and what I found works best was deleting the partitions on the card and resetting 'em up and formatting.

New way to fix bluetooth on Hero?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580486
Good find...will it work?
Someone try it?!
Wow sounds scary - flashing radio from another device. Scary.
But we want bluetooth so much, don't we...
I want BT as much as the next...but I wont be the tester lol, I have bricked 1 out of 7 G1's that I have rooted, was my mistake as I was tired from a 14hr shift at work, stayed up late night before and boom, didnt do radio first.
Its almost as if not having BT is worth it if you want Hero on a G1...Kinda lol
Someone needs to try it. It seems like a logical fix.

It wouldn't even let me get to the new recovery to flash a 32a ROM
I followed these steps Eugene posted. Maybe I missed something. Good news, its recoverable at least:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
- press MENU to power off! (do not reboot)
- hold HOME and POWER to boot into recovery mode
- apply update
EDIT: I'm thinking it didn't quite take the radio image even though it said it did. It still thought it was a Dream 32B instead of 32A.
i got a bootloop. im pretty sure i followed the post almost to the T twice i tried. sounded good in theory....
even went to a hero rom (king) prior to instillation just to give it a little more hope.

Question that I have...

I got a Mytouch from a friend and it was already rooted running a hero rom now I want to run Cyans latest and I know that you have to download a recovery image then his roms in order for them to work . I was wondering since I am new to this phone how would I go about that process. I have downloaded the recovery image from the HTC site for my mytouch but it wont install....I was curious
// Edited //
Also a really good tutorial on how to root your phone in a very digestable information is at the unlockr. I'd read through his site and it really helped me understand how the rooting process works and then used XDA as a reference.
I've had no problem rooting my phone after that!
I'd have thought if it was running a hero ROM already, it would be rooted already.. no?

Ya it would be but youre first post is very misleading... he need the htc IMG that he mentioned from the htc website if he is gonna run cyans latest and then the rom: From the recovery image (home+power) then wipe, then apply the HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base then the cyan rom then reboot system all there is too it
OK so yeah It is rooted as it has AMON RA's recovery on it. I have gone to the HTC's site to download the signed-google_ion-ota-14721.zip but from what I am looking at on the post I would need to download HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base and then I am good to load cyans 4.2.4 or whatever his latest it
OK well I got it all working now got the little update to 1.6 and got cyans latest well sorta loaded when it gets past all the screens before loading the main home screen it blacks out and I have nothing but a black screen. I was wondering if I missed a step or anything. I unrooted the phone and then rerooted via the site theunlockr.com if that helps

Prepare for stable 550mhz ROMs across the board!

Just bringing this to the forefront, as it doesn't seem to be getting much attention - but it has to be as significant as the 10mb ram hack. This ROM is blazing fast in my opinion, even though it's an older cyanogenmod. Use SetCPU and choose "motorola" for device.
There is currently one stable 550mhz ROM available for download. The kernel should be compatible with donut and eclair ROMs, from what I gather. I had nothing to do with this work, I just want to see everyone's Dream come True! Hehe.

Thanks man. I wasn't 100% sure due to I havent flashed anything thru TE since cyan 4.2.9.1.
Sorta Works on OpenEclair
I flashed it on my OE1.1.4 and it booted, but was kinda jerky and wireless was unable to start.
But gave me hope and I look forward to maybe WesGarner getting a shot at compiling a complete ROM with this included!
Im bout to try this out with SuperD.....will report back

I have officially decided to hang on to my G1 a bit longer in light of this new development. What I'm really waiting for is HD2 on Tmobile, with an android rom. ETA 2 months

If you actually complete a GSM port of THIS! Wow that'll be amazing. I am curious though, since the mods frown on "coming soon" threads, what is your definition of "soon". I might actually enjoy sense if it was GB fast. Thanks for working on this! I know *some* devs have said they want this, but I don't know if you've asked them for help/teamwork. Not a bad idea, there's only a few devs left anyway, send some PMs maybe you will find some nice help

Hey if you're gonna port GSM roms it takes kernel work, why on gods green earth are you s-ON !?!?!?
EDIT: also, if I read that correctly, you are not able to boot? I hope I misunderstood you...........
EDIT 2: I now reread your posts, and remembered your earlier thread posts today "I don't know how to port a GSM rom" and your last post in that thread was about 2pm, this OP at about 5:30. based SOLELY on this post, I will not flash whatever you put up - unless of course others do and it works - but it won't I'm sure. You don't flip a frakking switch to go "off" And you just confirmed you have a zip that will do nothing. Booting up a ROM has NOTHING to do with the security state of your bootloader. Man this kinda reminds me of "webOS on heroC"......... Prove me wrong, please.

Well, again, proof? I have a few thoughts that may help you. First, get s-off. Then, these froyo and GB sense ROMs are HUGE and may actually need custom MTD partitions for a larger /system (see firerats). Third, booting a beast that big will take a WHILE. Still, proove me wrong.

I would recommend the eng-spl method, as it allows fastboot commands such as "fastboot erase system -w" which may help you flash these things after a clean wipe. How big is the ROM.zip ? That should tell you how large your system partition needs to be. I think the stock system partition size is 160mb. I remember in the beginning of the froyosense port it needed to be around 200 or so.....
