Flashed mytouch 1.2 with the wrong spl and radio help!!! - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

i flashed my mytouch with the wrong RADIO, its was for a hero, im just stuck at the spash screen. i already tried to go to the fastboot and tried:
1-recover it by flashing sappimg on the gold card, its says wrong model id!
2-i also tried to going back to the stock mytouch 1.2 spl and radio using the command prompt and androidsdk and all i get its "FAILED <remote not allow>"
any advice???, im willing to give $10 by paypal if some one can help me out and unbrick it im a man of my word
the radio i see on the fastboot is 6.35.10.18 and the hboot is 1.33.013

I did this exact same thing. If you can boot to recovery, you can salvage it pretty easily by flashing an update.zip that has the proper SPL. If not, then you may want to try one of the things I did, which was to remake the gold card, because somehow it got reverted and needed the first sector rewritten. Then you can run the SAPPIMG.zip fix. I hope it works out!

What happens when you try to go to recovery? And, you tried to make _another_ gold card, or remake the one you had before?

when i press the down volume+power i get into the bootloader and yes i already make another gold card and stills says wrong image id while its reading the recovery image

Holding Home+Power is the way to get to recovery, and remake the goldcard you originally used to initially root the phone.

Sorry, dude. I know I had this exact same issue, and reformatting/remaking the gold card using a SD adapter in my laptop got me back to the point that I could reflash SAPPIMG.zip. What SPL/Radio did you get installed?

let's find anything like sappimg.zip that's suiteable to your phone put on your sdcard and get into bootloader(Home+Power) will help and then flash suitable hboot and radio and recovery then flash some rom. Cheers

didnt worked, but tanks anyways, any other advice?

The default SPL is 'perfected' that means you need to make a gold card in order to flash the Engineering 2010 SPL, then from there you can flash the needed hboot, recovery, etc (ie: click the "rooted" link in my signature)

Your lucky you can even get as far as you can. I didnt realize there was anything besides your basic 32a and 32b. I checked my Specs and thought I had 32a. I flashed both updated radio and SPL for 32A and bricked my phone. Nothing working not even fastboot. I returned to Tmobile and replaced learning my lesson.
If you are within the return just swap it if you can and be careful next time.

Doubtful. Its likely only 5% or so Mytouch owners root their phones. Then out of that 5% another 5% brick them. It is HIGHLY unlikely it affects our prices in the slightest. I have 2 friends who work at tmobile stores and neither of them have ever had a phone swapped during the 14 days due to it being bricked... the thing is its not common enough to bring prices up. They have to meet consumer needs and compete with competitors. I've never bricked a phone before and I'm careful, I'm sorry I didnt realize that 32a and 1.2 were different at first and just wanted to update like I did with my G1. The mytouch is a somewhat confusing phone with all of its variations ( kind of annoying ).
Hell... I'm definitely not going to apologize to anyone for swapping my bricked phone for a new one. Who wouldnt feel fortunate and lucky to save the load of cash by getting it exchanged for free during the return... even if you are the reason its broken??? Put yourselves in the users shoes for a change and realize people make mistakes regardless of how perfect we think we are.
It is important to keep a large difference in contract vs non-contract prices to encourage people to sign up for new activation to get the phone MUCH cheaper than not.

BUMP, any help??

[SOLVED]
okay so i have a working goldcard. my adb is working
i have a 32b
but heres the weird part. i loaded the sappimg.zip on my goldcard and did fastboot. that was loaded just fine. yet im still on 1.6 , but i thought im suppose to be on 1.5. im going by the directions on the (how to) for rooting made by RA.
then when i fastboot usb to load the recovery img. it says failed. i really have no idea what im doing wrong.
i have done all this for my g1. cuz i hand changed the boot screen. so im not new to this.
i have checked to see if my drivers are all working. when im on the home screen , i made sure my mytouch was connected to adb with *adb devices* but when i go to fastboot usb it says theres nothing there. also i have the recovery.img in both places. one on my normal mem card and one in ANDROIDSDK/tools/
so im not even sure what the problem is. once i get the recovery.img on there then ill be good to go.
if anyone knows what this may be. then thank you in advanced for the help

Downgrade to DC83 (1.5). Just drag and drop Sapp onto the root of your card, unmount, turn the phone off, volume down and power, hit END key to start update, wait awhile (make sure your phone has full power), once its done hit the trackball to restart and you should be good to go. Reboot phone and check system settings for 1.5 firm.
ok first off we need your phone info... not all mt3g need a goldcard to root.. basically i found if you mt3g came with 1.6 preloaded then you do need a goldcard.. you wont be able to just downgrade using the mt3g sappimg from theunlockr how to..

no no no.. you cant downgrade your device with the regular mt3g 1.5 sappimg... if your phone came with 1.6 already loaded you need to find a sappimg that has a higher hboot then your phone... im betting your current hboot is 1.33.0007 ... and the mt3g sappimg used to downgrade to 1.5 is for hboot 1.33.0006.. you can use a hboot lower then what you have to down grade try this how to.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674003

HOW-TO | Unroot From 1.47

Sorry guys if this was posted already. I had been searching for a way to unroot totally back to factory and the RUUs were giving me all sorts of errors... 171, 170 etc. So I finally found a way to actually make it work.
** If you are rooted and have the 1.47 update and cannot unroot with the RUU you were in my boat. Here's what I did:
1 - Download the ROOTED 1.32.651.1 from http ://geekfor.me/evo/rom/Supersonic_1.32.651.1_rooted .zip
(Remove the spaces from the url)
2 - Put that zip in the root of your SD card and then boot into recovery and flash it.
3 - Download the official 1.47 RUU and it should work on your device with no problems.
I am sorry if this guide was elsewhere but this is what I came up with on my own and I wanted to share it in case there wasn't a working unroot guide out.

I will look for the image
Download to root of sd and rename to PC36IMG

They do not check for root and to be honest its perfectly LEGAL now to root a phone so no WORRYS leave it as is
thanks again for the really quick response.. I have a mircoUSB adaptor that i use, and my roomate has the same phone as me so i can get my battery charged.
i may just do as you say and go with the sprint stock rooted rom.. kuz this is proving to be more of a hassle than i thought it would be.
thanks
It's still void the warranty even tho its legal so save yourself a potential hassle and unroot

In the MOST EXTREME case but its highly doubtful and has been proven over and over. I for one agree you should unroot it as best you can so it doesnt allow the carrier or htc to figure out the root method etc but if you can't I wouldnt worry one single bit. hmm.. okay.. so that zip file that was there.. i already had, and i already tried flashing that.. and it didnt work last time, nor did it work this time
i have hboot 0.79.000
i have radio 1.39.00.05.31
and i flashed to a rooted 1.32 rom like it said i had to do.
Im using clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.1
When i go to install zip from sd card>choose zip> and select the file attached, it just tries to open it and within a few miliseconds its back to the screen i was just at.
if i were to rename it to PC36IMG.zip and let bootloader load it, it will say 'wrong or no image'
I think im going to give up..
i found this. i will give it a try i suppose:

Bricked after all this time

I had a lunch TB4g and it just bricked today, I was running ShiftAOSP 1.2 (I believe unrelated) and the .802 radio (possible) but it will just go to the HTC screen and reset and keep trying to boot. I can get into HBOOT and FASTBOOT, I have tried to reflash a root friendly RUU but it didnt fix anything and still cant boot. Just giving you a heads up. I had it overclocked to 1.22, I had it in my car on the way home, sent one text, 23% battery and I plugged it into my CPU USB to charge for a little waiting for some friends to show up and that is when it went into bootloop. Heat was not an issue as I had used it minimally the whole day sending small texts. It did sustain a major G shock 2 days prior but no excessive G or roughness today. Since it can get into HBOOT it might be recoverable but thats to the devs to decide, I have the unlocked 1.04 hboot installed.
i doubt the radio caused it, but that sucks man. see if you can talk verizon into a bionic for a replacement.

it will boot to hboot and not reboot, but it will not boot to recovery
Have you tried flashing one of the recoveries that were modified to install through hboot? you can take your sd card out, and using a computer, place the PG05IMG.zip (search here @ XDA) and place it on the root of the card, flash through hboot. then using the computer again, remove the PG05IMG.zip from the sd card and go back into hboot and select recovery. i had to do this not too long ago and it worked for me, maybe it will help you.
I pulled the battery and wont plug it in all night to see if it resets some error it maybe had, my new phone is delivered tomorrow so its not a big deal.

I would agree. The whole reason I asked about recovery boot looping is because if it is thats pretty much identical symptoms everyone who had the boot loop of death "brick" thing had. If that is what the situation is I would get it s-on and get VZW to replace because I doubt he caused it.

You wonder why all the major companies are starting to hate people who root phones. Some people will flash a Rom everyday just to do it and if they miss up their phone they don't seem to care. Now do I think a thunderbolt is worth 700 bucks retail hell no it only cost about 125 to build. But people need to hit up these forums to try to fix their phones before they call Verizon. I read a few post of guys who buy bricks phone fix them and sell them so any bricked phone can be fixed as far as he said. Read up and don't be so quick to clear data as first sign of a problem. Always try what got me out of the bootloop of death.
1. Battery pull
2. Power and hold down volume button
3. Never and I mean never keep a radio stored on root of SD card after install this will cause Hboot to install radio and that is not what we want to do here.
4. Go to recovery
5. Under download folders in your SD card always keep a updated ROM of what ever ROM you are currently using or at least a stable build inside that folder if you are using AOSP keep a stable ROM that last worked for you so no data clear is needed if you are using Sense do the same.
6. I never flash a recovery at this point follow this it saved my phone. Clear cache, clear delvik, format system under mounts and storage.
7. Format is most important since it will not delete recovery if you need to try again. Go to install zip file, select zip file, and install your fresh ROM or a stable build I never have flashed a normal ROM or have I flashed back to a down graded GB ROM.
8. Reboot after ROM has flashed and your phone will boot correctly.
I hope this has helped it saved me a few times in boot loop of death. Stop clearing data you lose your recovery and stop flashing old GB ROMs thinking they will save you, it might but message me so I can say I told you so.
****NOTE also make sure you are updated to newest CWM there was a problem with bootlooping after flashing a kernel and maybe Rom. I had the problem with flashing a kernel sent me into a bootloop. Update or roll back.******

The OP probably gets into recovery for a few seconds then bootloops randomly. If you are not bootlooping in hboot, you are not bricked. Find the stock ruu file and flash that through hboot. Although you will lose root, the phone should work again.
If it's bricked, throw it to the ground and stomp on it til it breaks and claim insurance..... That should piss some people off here
Seriously tho some guy mentioned something about a HBoot friendly RUU. You should look into it

As far as I have seen the random and sudden boot loop of death thing has happend to rooted and stock phones. Leading people much smarter than me to come to the conclusion it is most likely caused by some kind of hardware defect existent in a lot if not all Thunderbolts. If he bricked it trying to flash an hboot from an Incredible or a bad flash because of not taking 30 seconds to check MD5 sums then I would put the blame on him. I'm not trying to condone fraud but if the situation is what I was thinking it might be he shouldn't have to pay because HTC got cheap on some build lots or had some bad quality control. Bootlooping from a bad flash and being able to get into recovery and restore is NOT the same thing I'm talking about. In the situation I'm refering to the ROM and recovery both bootloop. You can still flash an RUU in hboot but even after that the phone still bootloops.

I have the 1.04 modded hboot so I dont think I can overwrite recovery. Either way, contrary to your beliefs I will not claim insurance on it, although this is a warranty issue, these phones are dropping left and right. I just moved to tmobile this week and my sensation 4g and G2x are supposed to be delivered today.
Thanks for your ideas but I tried to reflash recovery and it installed through hboot but it will just reset before it loads. I still have s-off and my emmc was the sem08g. I am going to plug it in and just let it boot loop all day while I am at work, maybe it will get out, maybe it wont, either way is it wont hurt anything.

Did I brick my Inspire 4G?

I'm sure I haven't bricked this phone, because in the process of rooting it, it will eventually say it's S-OFF. But after getting to that point, I can choose Recovery in CWM and when it gets to the white screen with the green HTC logo, after about 4 seconds, it will fade to black. This has happened to 2 phones I've rooted. Luckily mine worked like a charm, but after the last 2...I'm afraid to root another one. Does this sound like a bad memory card, or maybe it's not a gold card? I've searched around and couldn't find an answer, so maybe someone here at XDA has experienced this problem and has an answer.
TIA

I quite don't get that....you can choose recovery in CWM?? what does that is supposed to mean? CWM is a custom recovery. I guess that you are probably refering to hboot. Anyway, if you are S-OFF, then you might not have a recovery installed, so flash a new one (use the guide in my signature or look for post # 7 in the Ace Think Tank in the general section of the Desire HD forum)
Make sure first that you are S-OFF for certain, if you are not, then you won't be able to flash anything at all. Then, try re running the Hack Kit again from the white splash screen as the manual tells you to.

Yes, I guess I did mean hboot. In the process of Recovery is when it will fail and there is a ROM loaded for it to recover from on the SD card. Is it possibly because it is looking for the clockworkmod/backup folder and there is not one? I just realized that maybe I can copy a backup from my phone (we have the same exact phone) and place in there if it's possible. I don't have access to the phone now, as it is a friends. Also, if it fades out at the white HTC logo and just gets hung up, there is no way to re-run the Hack Kit is there?
Thanks for the help glevitan, as you've helped me before and I HAVE downloaded your Ultimate Hack Guide and keep it on my phone for reference.

Just a question, are you sure that the phone is S-OFF? or has an unlocked bootlaoder? In either way you can flash recovery again from fastboot and then a custom rom again.
If you need help, I can lend you a hand via teamviewer..just let me know. :good:

ok. Good luck!
Ok glevitan, I believe the problem might be in the PD98IMG.zip that's on the root of my SD card. I noticed when the phone booted into hboot, it would display that the image file was wrong, or something to that effect and then would force an update, which would load the HTC spashscreen and then ultimately fade out. I figured it had a bad PD98IMG.zip file, so I found the original aahk-13012012.zip and extracted the PD98IMG.zip from there and overwrote the one in the root. It didn't work. A different story...I noticed on my Inspire 4G (working correctly, but hboot had same error, even though I could load recovery from there) that it wasn't finding the correct image either. I copied over the PD98IMG.zip onto my phone and now both phones are now fading out on the HTC splashscreen after about 4 seconds. This tells me that it's in the SD card, right? If so, any suggestions? Both phones were rooted using this version of aahk.
Edit: Also, with this new PD98IMG.zip image, hboot will go into the process of parsing for
[1] boot
[2] recovery
[3] radio_v2
Once this is done, I push Power to reboot and that's when I get the failure in the HTC splashscreen.
Edit: I noticed in the PD98IMG.zip there was no md5 file, so I stuck one in there and got my phone working (which is not the one with the original issue started in this thread) and was able to restore a nandroid backup. I put this same SD card in the original damaged phone and it didn't restore like mine did. I still think it's an SD card issue causing the HTC splashscreen fadeout, but don't know where to go know.
Also, my PD98IMG.zip only has a recovery.img and a recovery.md5 file in it. I noticed that the original aahk PD98IMG.zip has those along with a boot.img and a radio.img. Should those be in the PD98IMG.zip? I know this post was edited twice and is very jumbled, so if you can make sense of it and offer solutions, much obliged.

Ok, I quite don't get much...sorry, but that version of the Hack Kit is old, so use the lastest one: http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74
But again, I don't still get if the phone is S-OFF or not. If you are S-OFF there is no need to do all that process. Even, you can flash a RUU without using the PD98IMG way if you suspect that the sdcard is messed.
You can flash it over fastboot.... Anyway, you will have to flash this RUU (which is the gingerbread update 2.3.3 version of ATT. the lastest one, if you are not S-OFF will make things a bit harder for you to run the hack kit later): http://https://dl.dropbox.com/u/30674730/RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_Cingular_US_2.47.502.7_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_200368_signed.exe
Put the phone in fastboot usb (when in hboot, plug the phone and it should read fastboot usb in red, if not, just press power button to toggle to fastboot). Then, just run that .exe file and it should flash...

Sorry, I thought I had said I was S-OFF. I can get my phone to be fastboot usb when hooked up with a usb in hboot, but can't reflash aahk or anything computer related. It just doesn't seem to recognize anything on the PC.
Edit: And I apologize glevitan, I've searched and found a couple of threads related to the black screen after the HTC logo, so I know you guys have helped and explained this numerous times before. I just couldn't get any of the suggestions from those threads to work out. Thanks for any help you may input.

I was having a similar problem, I'm not too sure if it relates to what your experiencing. But I was trying to gain s-off my hboot was in fact unlocked but was still s-on. I was reading around and flashed a few boot.img with fast boot. I had that problem where htc screen would show then fade to black, and then stay black.
What I did was (I had installed recovery pretty early on) I did a factory reset in recovery then went to restore. Prior to this thank god I had transfered my nandroids to the pc b4 flashing new boot.img(s) then flashed the boot.img from the nandroid I just restored. All was well back into stock. I then found the insecure boot.img to use for aahk, flashed that in fastboot and relocked hboot. Reran aahk in linux. Got me to S-OFF with unlock.
If you need a fairly stock nandroid I can provide one.

glevitan, you're awesome. I restored the phone by running the RUU executable and reran the aahk and am now fully rooted. Both times I got the black screen on this phone previously was on the same PC, but this time I ran aahk on my PC and it ran correctly. I sincerely appreciate your help in helping me to achieve root for this phone. Hopefully this thread helps someone in the future.

What have you tried? AAHK is the only real option. There is a very clear guide over at the Ace Think Tank post #7, linked in my signature.

Besides what bananagranola said, you need to know that video tutorials suck. They skip important details and that, will probably get you stuck. Read the guide adviced, and the hack kit site (got the link in the Ace Think Tank Thread)...that is all you need to know.
I have tryed the Aahk. My problem is when it ask me to downgrade ruu an all that. All my phone dose when I run the aahk I push 1 an then it ask too downgrade so i put y then something about the ruu an I put y then it says pushing the 9 something file. ( sorry I'm not home on my computer ) so I'm not 100% on what it is saying. But then my phone boots to Hboot dose its thank. Then says bad image. I have done this a lot of times with the aahk. I even tock the s-on off an on. Is there a way that someone can jump into my computer an do this?

Try using a different sdcard. If the RUU image is not being read, that is probably due to a bad sdcard. It is corrupted to work as a goldcard but fine for usual day use.
I have. I have had 4 of them now. Two 2 gigs one 36gig an one 8 gig. New I paid for them an a new USB cored fast data cable for the phone.

2gb is enough...don't use another cable but the oem one that came with the phone. Anyway, that seems to be a sdcard issue. Try with another one and then report back.

Bricked HTC One X

Hey guys.....
I tried flashing IceColdJelly on my HTC One X ATT and i was rushing and i just remembered a notice before i rebooted the phone that it says there was no OS something something to this rom and i clicked OK and it attempted to reboot. Now its not turning on at all. Cannot get into download mode or ANYTHING. Don't tell me to try pressing any more buttons because i've been doing that for the past 3 hours. I know my way around phones and this is my biggest problem i've ever faced. I put in the phone to the computer and it recognizes it but has 3 beeps after basically cannot do anything to the phone. I have TWRP recovery on it btw. Basically, its a paperweight. Cannot turn on a single freaking thing. Please help. I cannot thank you guys enough if you can help in any way....
Thanks.

Taking the time to research before flashing a ROM that is not even meant for your phone would have saved a lot of heartache:

I thought the ICJ Bricking Crew was no more. I guess those clowns are trying to make a comeback.

I have downgraded using JET from 1.14 to 2.20. Process includes bricking your phone to get into special recovery mode that give RW access to hboot, but you do need TWRP at some point I think (not sure though) to get in bricked, before you start downgrade, so you might not be able to downgrade.
However, I don't think you are SOL. Look into manual steps of downgrading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32761598&postcount=107
OP gives you there way to verify that device is connected and part of the steps is listing partitions. If you can get partitions listed on your PC, then I think you can just dd system image and it should come back to life... also have you tried 2.20 RUU? I had a corrupted system partition (bad sector causing reboot when I would try to access system - including booting phone or into twrp recovery). I ended up using RUU (which also failed from the same bug, but It actually reformatted my system partition giving me access to twrp and then I was able to restore).

This method will not work because he's corrupted his extended partition table. All that's left is the write-protected hboot, which the processor can't find because the partition table is gone. So he can't boot into recovery.
People have been working on this issue for a long time and there is currently no solution if you're on 2.20.
To the OP, where did you get a copy of ICJ? The latest version is supposed to contain asserts to prevent flashing on this phone. You can get this repaired by HTC for $150 or something. Or, if your ethics allow it, people have played dumb and gotten warranty replacements.
Next time don't go rooting and romming the day you get your phone.

If there is no ROM loaded onto the phone, as in doing a full /system wipe, the asserts will not work.
The assert that's being flashed looks at the build.prop that's already loaded onto the phone.

And of course, it's good practice to wipe /system when changing roms. I didn't think of that. That's obviously why people are still getting in trouble.

I don't ever wipe /system when flashing ROMs. It gets wiped when you flash anyway. I always wipe user data (factor reset), Dalvik and cache. But that's it.

Yep, if you format /system, the build.prop is gone, and the assert looks to the build.prop.. why it flashes, I don't know.
The way its set up seems like it would only flash if "ro.device=endeavoru" or whatever the line is, is present. I guess there is no fail safe to stop the process if the build.prop isn't present
Yeah, i'll skip the playing dumb idea. I prefer just going straight up to HTC about this. Would i be able to call in to HTC and ask them how much it costs? That is, if they accept these kinds of repairs.

They can fix any software corruption they have the tools too they know their phones front to back and can rewrite anything to them...just tell them what happened and they'll tell you the cost( maybe they'll feel bad and give a nice price) honesty can get you in good places sometimes
Thanks. Will send everyone who replied a thank button. Regardless of what type of comment...... I'll need to check the cost. Hopefully its below 100....
